Gosho Aoyama (青山剛昌) is a Japanese manga artist. He is best known as the creator of the manga series Detective Conan (known in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom as Case Closed).
Aoyama made his debut as a manga artist with the work Chotto Matte which was published in the weekly magazine Shōnen Sunday on winter of 1987. Shortly after that, another work by Aoyama, Magic Kaito, was published on the same magazine.
A farfetched but fun set of mysteries. Zombie Blade is the powerhouse entry, and whilst it wouldn't really work if duplicated in real life (many of these wouldn't, if we are being honest), it's quirky and original which is especially impressive considering the length of this series.
This was definitely one of those volumes full to the brim with absurd stories. Someone actually tries to cover up a murder by making a video of a video taken 8 (!) years ago and pretending it just happened. What. And then all they talk about is how their clothes are different 🙈 I mean, it's a Conan so realism isn't really in the cards anyway. But still, that was taking it slightly too far.
Kasus selanjutnya tentang zombie. Iya zombie. Zombie-nya beneran ga? Silakan baca sendiri.
Lumayan bikin penasaran. Semoga volume berikutnya terbitnya ga lama lagi.
At last, saya masih setia dengan komik Conan. Selalu 5 bintang untukmu <3
General Synopsis: As mentioned above, I am going to write a proper review for this soon, but I have a few books ahead of this one in the queue, so I cannot stop reading DC NOW! That's sacrilege. I have decided to read all the chapters available up to now (we are almost to 1000!) As you can see, I am totally fangirling over here and I don't care, because this is one of my favorite manga series, ever! But all of this aside, there are a few things I wanted to list so I don't need to go back and look everything up when I do finally sit down and write my fangirl review. ✌🏻
DO NOT click on the spoiler link if you don't want to read all the cases in this volume, because it will ruin it for you. On the other hand, if you're a fan like me or are looking for a certain case (and please note, these are how I have set the cases), etc. click away, that's why it's there.
Another spoiler link, so don't click if you don't want to ruin this manga. I am going to include the characters introduced or as the series continues are in this volume. Personally, I think us DC fans love certain characters more than other (yes, Heiji, I mean you!), so sometimes when we are re-reading this series (like all the time!) you might wish to start at a specific case or start when a certain character is involved.
Characters in this volume:
Personal Opinion: #1, I never call this CASE CLOSED. If you do, you're not a true fan of this series, so don't even bother reading my review or my personal opinions. I'm sorry if I offend you, but you offended me first by telling me you want to read CASE CLOSED or you just love Jimmy.
#2, as you can tell by #1, I read this online. I would never waste my money buying a manga series in english that cannot get the name correct and mess up the main characters to make it appear more "ENGLISH." I am so happy I don't run a blog and this isn't a review on Sailor Moon, #1, because I have a huge soap box tirade against DiC. I also don't think there is anything against reading something online. Comics, which is what manga are, are meant to be read and shared and sometimes paying over $10 is too much in my opinion. Plus, I read the newest chapters as soon as they are released from Japan, because I would never miss a release of DC. So this is my personal shout out to you translators from me, Thank You!
This volume picks up right where volume 87 left off in the murder case...I enjoyed this case but as I often feel....felt the cliffhanger took a little away from the momentum I had on the case reading. I felt to truly appreciate this one I had to go back and read the beginning of the case. The next case deals with the Drop-Dead Delicious Ramen restaurant...which ends up...you guessed it, in a murder case. I liked this story but felt VERY similar to a previous case...so much so, that I am thinking of going over my previous reviews to see if I can state the exact volume the case appears in which is similar to this one. The story is short though, so I don't think it is a big deal feeling that de ja vu over the case. Next we have Harley and Detective Conan working together to solve a death on a zombie film area. Finally we have a case with Sera starting band...but someone doesn't make the cut. The story is a cliff-hanger and therefore more of the case is in volume 89 of Case Closed!

I feel like not much happened in this volume, aside from the small but intriguing tidbit about Sera’s background. That said, the so-called 'zombie outbreak' added some fun chaos, even if it wasn’t the most memorable part for me. Speaking of Sera’s background—so there’s another man named Scotch, huh? That sudden reveal definitely caught me off guard! I’m also really curious about her sister; there’s so much mystery there. And I have to admit, Amuro is starting to grow on me more and more.
I love when we get to know side characters a little better... especially the police characters. I ma super curious how the Yumi love story will evolve and also how it will wind up with the whole family story of Akai. Super interesting and for me always the motivation to read the manga/watch the anime.
THE HAIDO CITY RESTAURANT MYSTERY: LOVE, LIES, AND MURDER Haibara and Kogoro are scandalized by rumors of Ryusuke Higo and Yoko Okino dating and drag Conan into an investigation. Their search leads them to a new restaurant owned by Higo’s senior, who mysteriously vanishes. A chilling message directs Higo and Yoko to the storeroom, where they discover the owner dead with his neck artery slit. With Yoko and Higo as prime suspects, Conan unravels the mystery, exposing the true culprit among the restaurant’s employees.
THE COTTAGE OF DEATH: POISON, PARANOIA, AND DECEPTION Conan, Heiji, Kogoro, Ran, and Kazuha visit a secluded cottage in Gunma Prefecture to investigate a murder. After ingesting a poisonous mushroom, Kogoro is left weakened while Heiji and Conan discover the director poisoned in his room. Soon after, the camerawoman is also found dead, with a video implicating the deceased director as the killer. As fear and confusion mount, Conan must uncover the dark trick behind the murders—and determine whether Kogoro's wild claims of zombies lurking in the surrounding forest hold any truth.
The highlight of this volume was Yumi. She is amazing and she always makes me laugh. Whenever I read the manga I can picture how the characters would say their lines in the anime. Am I the only one?
So, I think we can all agree that Shukichi is the middle brother of the Akai family. I know many of us have suspected that for a while and we have proof to support our claim. The conversation between Sera & her brother and Yumi & Shukichi on the phone in the ramen shop pretty much confirmed that theory. There are too many coincidences. I really hope that we can see Shukichi involved in a case soon. He became one of my favourites in no time. No to mention I love seeing his interaction with Yumi. These two make me laugh out loud all the time.
