Restored by Tanya Eavenson was sensational! This is the first book I've read by this author but will definitely look forward to future books by Tanya Eavenson.

Dr. Steven Moore and Elizabeth Roberts had faced various tragedies in their lives. When Dr. Moore is diagnosed with cancer he resigns from the hospital and sees no hope for his future. Elizabeth is struggling as a single mother after losing her husband and a baby daughter prior to that time. How will the visit Steven makes to see Elizabeth affect her and her adorable sons? Will the primary characters be able to let go of past hurts and move forward?

Restored characters are well developed and so real to life with their struggles. This reader fell in love with them and felt their emotions throughout the book. Characters that faced uncertainty but realized they had to lean upon the Lord to see them through. There were so many special moments, laughter, surprises and definitely a romantic love story not only among the characters but also with their Heavenly Father.

I gave this book 5 stars and would love to see another book with the same characters. Order a copy of Restored today to see for yourself how lives can be "Restored" in the greatest way filled with faith, trust and love from God above.

This is a beautiful love story about Dr. Steven Moore and Elizabeth Roberts who were estranged years earlier when Elizabeth canceled their wedding. Fast forward 14 years, Steven has married and lost a wife and daughter and Elizabeth has lost a husband and a child, leaving her raising two children alone.
When Steven goes to see Elizabeth after his cancer diagnosis, a spark of that former love is reignited.
We see God's love and redemption giving these two a second chance at love or not.
The storyline will have you in tears more than once.
The characters were remarkable, especially the adorable young Christopher.
Thanks for the review copy and the opportunity to give my honest opinion

In Restored, Tanya Eavenson brings back several of the characters we found in Unconditional. Tanya's writing strength lies in characterization. She takes us deep into the thoughts and emotions of Dr. Steven Moore, who's suffering with a deadly disease, cancer, and Elizabeth Roberts, a woman from his past who's endured the loss of a daughter and a husband.
Throughout the novel, we walk alongside the characters pulling for them, even when the future seems bleak.
If you want to read a deeply romantic love story, this is the book. The novel kept me turning pages until The End.

This is book 2 in Elizabeth’s chronicle of sorrows, hopes, and dreams. If you’ve read book 1 (Unconditional), I’m sure you fell in love with Chris and Elizabeth as they recommitted their lives to God and to each other. They both went through a tremendous amount of pain to arrive at a place of peace, love, and hope...and Chris became an incredibly swoon-worthy hero....and as this second book opens, he dies in the prologue without even getting a scene in the book. HE DIES!!! No, this is not a spoiler. The book blurb already told me Elizabeth is widowed and I knew this before delving into the story...but my heart still hasn’t recovered. Unconditional should be read before Restored. The heart-squeezing angst, sorrow, and love that Elizabeth and Steven feel in this story can best be understood by reading the first book to walk through Elizabeth and Chris’ lives some 12 or so years before this story.

Despite how much I felt rattled that Chris died, Steven is an equally likable and noble hero in this story (as he was in the first story) with his intelligence, self-sacrificing and compassionate and tender heart, undying devotion to Elizabeth and her two boys, and fierce loyalty. Elizabeth, even after several terrible tragedies, is stronger than ever in her faith and will to survive and love. This book explores more deeply such themes as grief from loss of family, hopelessness of dreams lost, human desire to be known and loved, despair in facing death, and sacrificial and unconditional love, which were all touched upon in the first book. The reunion of Elizabeth and Steven is sweet and sigh-worthy...for Steven has waited a long time to love her fully.

This book is a contemporary romance that will bring tears of sorrow and joy with the pages - don’t forget your box of tissues while reading it. I received a copy of the book via Celebrate Lit Tours and was under no obligation to post a positive review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.

Author Tanya Eavenson blends life and death in the heartwarming Christian romantic story Restored. Is it possible that love from the past can ever be forgotten or forgiven?

Eavenson's style of writing has a balanced rhythm to it. She incorporates the feel of heartache with the joy and love that the main characters develop as they find their way around some troublesome past events. As it is in real life, Restored has a nice Christian "flavor" flow to it. The story isn't pounding you over the head with trying to change your view of God, but speaking as we do in everyday life, expecting God has a plan for us.

Trust me, you'll need your tissues, but Eavenson doesn't leave us disappointed.

What Did I Think of This Second-Chance Novel?
With a great premise and clean editing, Restored offers a glimpse into the difficult world of widowhood, cancer treatment, infertility, and unexpected medical trouble. With a line-up like that, you’d expect it to be a difficult book to read, too implausible, or a little like that series, Cranford inspired by Elizabeth Gaskell—everyone dying all over the place.

But it wasn’t, and that part of the book was brilliant.

There were things I didn’t love as much as I wanted to, however—things that took this from being a great book to just a nice one.

Most things I took issue with were minor—a child’s speech patterns being spelled oddly or a little too cliche rather than authentic. A slow start (one that, in retrospect, might have been a good idea. I’m still pondering that). Much of the book could have been improved by focusing on showing rather than “explaining” things.

But my one real complaint is that I saw in the characters things I really liked, but the characters themselves came off a bit flat. I didn’t connect with them the way I wanted to. Instead, they were… there. Perhaps the best way of stating my primary problem was that I felt like I was observing something rather than living the characters lives with them.

Still, with all that…
I’ll be reading more by this author. Something tells me she may be a favorite someday. Meanwhile, I’m not sorry I requested the review copy, and I hope she keeps going.

This is my first book by this author and I enjoyed how emotional her story is. You can feel the characters pain and sadness as the author delivers a story of second chances and faith. I knew what the book was going to be about and I had to prepare myself. The word cancer brings tears to my eyes and my heart hurts as I read this story.

It has only been two months since I lost my brother to Stage IV colon cancer. He refused treatment and before long it had spread to his liver and lungs. Reading about Dr. Steven Moore and his diagnosis was very painful for me. I was a bit surprised at the decision he made about his health. As a doctor, I would think he could have given more intense consideration to his decision.

Elizabeth is a strong woman who has just been through a difficult tragedy. She seems to be barely hanging on at times and what a surprise it was to see someone from her past. As the author peels away the pain and hurt that Elizabeth caused Steven so long ago, he still can't forget her. I did like the encounters they had and how they both had to learn to communicate with each other. It is not easy to open old wounds and the author takes the characters through the process with faith and trust in God.

If I had to pick a favorite character it would be Elizabeth's oldest son, Luke. Often times adults forget that children hurt from a loss and they don't always know how to express their pain. Luke is guarded when Steven comes into their lives and I admired how protective he was with his mother. His maturity in handling things was well written and I found him to be a strong young boy who loved his mom and dad very much.

The story is a roller coaster ride of medical tests, tragedies, decisions and a prayer that God will heal . Not everyone is healed the way we want, such as my brother but I did like how much both Elizabeth and Steven trusted God to do His will. It is hard to walk by faith when everything around you looks hopeless. Can two people find happiness again after years apart? Will health be restored to one of the characters? These questions can be found by reading this story that gives hope, and walks us through restoration of emotional scars.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion.

Deep emotional conflict, health concerns, and a painful past work together to keep Elizabeth and Steven apart. But God is bigger than all three, and His ways are better than our ways.

I thought the writing was brilliant. Elizabeth and Steven are complicated, fully mapped out characters. Their past complicates their relationship, but neither is 100% willing to give up on a second chance.

I watched my mother go through cancer, so I connected with Steven’s journey on a personal level. This allowed me to have a better understanding of his decisions, and his reactions, when faced with the reality of his condition.

Only one thing really struck me as out of place, and I can’t tell you because that would be considered a spoiler. All I will say is, Luke’s feelings should have been taken into more consideration. At the very least, he deserved to be part of the decision.

Little Chris was quite the bright spot. His antics are sure to bring a lightheartedness at just the right moments. The secondary characters blended well, and I’m curious now about some of their stories.

Now, for the spiritual link, it’s strong here in Restored. I have zero complaints about the strength of Elizabeth’s and Steven’s connection with God.

While the genre is Contemporary Christian Romance, and it fits that genre well, be prepared for the raw emotion that grief and terminal illness churn up. There are moments of light and fluffy, but at the heart of the story are deep emotional wounds that must be overcome before the happily ever after will be possible.

My Thoughts: Tanya Eavenson has written a heartwarming story with struggles that we face today. The author does a fabulous work of developing each character; the characters become real to the reader and the reader becomes sensitive to them and lost in the flurry of ups and downs of events that occur in the storyline.

I truly enjoyed the reference to one of my favorite books in the Bible: Ruth; and how the author made reference to Steven being Elizabeth's Boaz. Her kinsman redeemer. That was one of the most touching parts of the story for myself. This is such a wonderful romance that readers will certainly enjoy. Although it is the second book in the series"Unending Love" it is a stand-alone read. Readers will certainly identify with any one of the characters that are in the novel. I will certainly be looking forward to more from Tanya Eavenson.

"RESTORED" by Tanya Eavenson is about lost love being given a second chance when you least expect it. A story of how nothing is impossible with God. I have to make a confession and say I copied this line from Tanya Eavenson"s post on the blog tour because that is exactly what the book is about.

I loved this story despite this story being another with a character having cancer. I am satisfied with the ending.

I recommend reading "Unconditional" the first in this series before reading "Restored" because to fully understand what happened in the past is the reason for the title of this novel, at least in my mind.

I really don't have a favorite character, they all are a great example of what love and support are really supposed to be.

These books really pulls at the heart strings. These book have brought topics such as adultery, death and illness, and forgiveness and second chances all together in a story that makes me want to read m ore about these characters. I would read any more books that were written about any of the characters in this series.

I also have to point out that not all is happily ever, in this series, as some characters are not saved from death. This is why these books are so good because even though they are fiction, real life is shown.
I was given a complimentary copy by the author and Celebrate Lit. These opinions are my own.

Restored is a touching and compelling look at love lost, lives lost, and then finding a future. Steven Moore and Elizabeth Rogers once were in love and planning on getting married. But then their circumstances changed and they went their own ways. Years later after the death of Elizabeth’s husband Chris and a diagnosis of cancer for Steven, the two meet again.

Steven has given up on living and is preparing to die. But God has a funny way of interfering with what man plans. Years earlier, Chris had asked Steven to be his “kinsman redeemer” like Boaz was for Ruth in the Bible. If anything happened to Chris, he wanted Steven to marry Elizabeth and take care of her and their children.

But Elizabeth and Steven had a rocky path to taking a chance on love and making a future together. The realism of the storylines and character, especially Elizabeth’s children Luke and Chris lend authenticity to this book that many other books miss.

So if you want to read a book that may make you laugh, cry, and more, check out this book for yourself.

Restored is what you expect when you hear contemporary romance. The book has a lot of heart when referring to chronic health issues and how they can really isolate, depress, and make you feel like you have no future- I personally have dealt with this in my life and I felt that was relatable. Elizabeth is a very worthy heroine as well, and both Steven and her have their share of heartache intertwined with a great faith message. I found the book very redemptive and sweet overall, especially the family dynamic presented. I felt the story being so focused on how nothing is impossible with God to be very inspirational. I found the challenges the characters find themselves in to be valid and relatable. I feel that any contemporary fiction or clean romance fiction reader will find enjoyment in this one.

My thoughts on Restored:
This book starts off a bit confusing to me. Probably because this is the second in a series and I have not read book one. I'd love to hear if you've read both and if the beginning makes sense to you!

The characters were new to me as is the writing style as this is a new author for me. I loved getting to know the characters. They each are complex and hint at age-old friendships. Getting to know them brought me into their circle and I felt like I not only knew who they are but also what makes them tick and how they would respond to situations in real life.

Above you can read a bit about the book. It's good. I do recommend reading the first book first. I'm going to be finding a copy and reading it myself just so I can know all the back story.

Elizabeth is still in love with her dead husband. He's the only man she ever truly gave her heart to. She's the woman that Steven has always loved. They're both widowed. He lost his wife and child while she lost only her husband leaving her with two sons to raise. She's a single mom helping to run a bookstore. Her in-laws are great and helpful. Luke is old enough to remember his father but Chris was born after he died. He never even knew about son #2.

Steven is faced with his own mortality. Many say he stopped living a long time ago but now all are saying he's stopped living. But he doesn't want to live like he's not dying. He doesn't want to give others or maybe just himself false hope that everything will be okay, that everything can work out. But then he goes to see Elizabeth. He meets her boys. And life can never be the same again.

I loved getting to know Steven and Elizabeth. It's hard to pick which would be my favorite. I think I'm going to have to say Steven though. Being a nurse I know how the medical profession works and I loved all the bits and pieces of the medical side. I hated his decision to leave his work though. So much good that could still be done!

This is a great well-written book that is going to draw you in. There is a bit of medical knowledge in here but not enough to make it off-putting. The characters are very thought out and make you really feel like you're best friends. Great book of fiction for adults with a strong central Christian theme.

This is not your typical, light-hearted romance. The hero is staring at his mortality, the heroine is still grieving the death of her husband four years later, and several obstacles—including one of Elizabeth’s children—stand in the way of anything other than friendship between Steven and Elizabeth.

I appreciated the characters’ mutual agreement to be honest with each other from the get-go (and, of course, there are a few instances of omission because where would the conflict be without it?). The strength of faith of both is also something that stood out as well as the timeless message carried throughout the story: Love conquers all.

Restored

A wonderful story of hope, and love. Steven thought he was dying so he decided to provide for Elizabeth who is a widow. She is also the one person he loved but had let her go. Will they be able to revive their love again?

I loved the children in the book. The interaction that Steven had with Elizabeth ‘s sons. Luke the older one played baseball, Steven loved watching him play.

My first boy by the author. I definitely plan to read more of her books.

This is a lovely story of not only romance but of family and friends and devotion and love for one another and for God. It is deeply touching. I’m sorry I missed reading the previous book, as it might have filled in some of the background, but even with that missing, I thoroughly enjoyed Restored and I definitely recommend it to those who are looking for a poignant story.

Restored was an amazing read! It was heartbreaking at times, but also very inspiring and filled with lots of hope. I didn't want to put it down and read it as fast as I could.

Restored is book two in the series. It can totally be read as a standalone, but I'd still recommend reading Unconditional first because it was so good and gives more backstory to these characters. It takes place quite a few years after Unconditional, so it was interesting to see where the characters were in their lives after all those years. Steven was my favorite character from the first book, so I was really glad that we got more of his story. He's such a great guy, always thinking of others before himself and doing what's right. I thought Elizabeth had grown a lot since the previous book. I really admired her strength. Luke was one of my favorite characters in Restored. He's dealt with a lot, but is still such a great kid. And I can't forget Christopher! He's an adorable and precocious little guy. These characters will stick with me for a very long time.

Restored was another stellar read from Tanya Eavenson! It's a great reminder that nothing is impossible with God. I highly recommend! I received a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and comments are my own honest opinion.

I read Tanya's book, Unconditional, first and I know it is helpful to read it and follow up with Restored.  Both books are so good!

Elizabeth is a hopeful, courageous woman who has dreams after suffering a painful past of life and death.  Her faith is strong and she still loves her former husband, Chris, even though it's been a few years since he passed.  Her long-lost love from her college years, Steven, returns into her life and though she tries to resist him, her heart tells her otherwise. Her two boys create some challenges along the way.

The romance between the two of them is intertwined with faith, heartbreak, sorrows, painful past, optimism, cancer issues, depression, fun, joy, and some surprises.

This is an excellent book and I'm glad that I read Unconditional first. They really flow together well.

So many ups and downs in this sweet, and often bittersweet, romantic drama. The story resonates with themes of perseverance in faith and love and also love of family. I really liked the integrity of the two main characters, Elizabeth and Steven. I have not read the first book but liked the way this one can stand alone. It's a well written, clean romance you can feel comfortable recommending to anyone.

Restored, written by Tanya Eavenson, is the second book in this series...and yet another book that you don't want to put down...
Well, when I read the prologue, I did want to scream. It was just not what I expected to happen in this book...At All! But as usual, authors know what they're doing and it was an awesome read!
I think my most favorite character in this book has to be Steven. What a guy! I'm not sure how anyone couldn't love the guy! We met him in Unconditional, the previous book, and found out what a great guy he was...giving of his hopes and dreams for others, caring even from afar, always thinking of others before himself...
This book has a ton of things happening that make you want to just cry, scream, laugh...emotional read for sure! I never expected it to go the way it did so that makes it an excellent read on my list! The best description was a quote from the Bible and within the book..."To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven."
I was given this book by the author. All thoughts and comments are my own.

This was a delightful read. While I didn’t have a chance to read the first in the series, Unconditional, I was still able to follow along with the storyline and the second book was enjoyable. I might have enjoyed it more having read the first, but I was able to connect with the characters without having read the first book.

The author paints a beautiful picture of flawed, normal, people who put God first in their lives. While there were issues the characters had to deal with (quite big ones I might add) it was done in a believable way. I find it humorous the main character was dealing with a health crisis during the book, and I myself was dealing with one similar. I think it bonded me to the character even faster than it might have otherwise. I loved the ending too.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher and was under no obligation to post a review. All opinions were strictly my own.

Restored is a Contemporary Christian Romance Novel by fellow Alabama author Tanya Eavenson.

Elizabeth Roberts is still trying to put her life back together four years after the death of her husband. With two children, sometimes her life gets chaotic. She's still in love with her late husband, but when her college flame comes back into the picture, Elizabeth isn't prepared for the feelings that still burn within her.

Steven Moore is a genius with premature babies, but when his own health takes a turn for the worse, he doesn't want to deal with the complications. Facing a cancer death sentence, he makes one final trip to see his first love, Elizabeth. Although he knows there is no future for them, his heart still trips over itself when he sees her again.

This is a beautiful story of God's plan working even when we think He's not listening to our cries of pain. If you're looking for a romantic read over Spring Break, go get your copy today!

I give it four stars!

This book picks up several years after the author's previous book, Unconditional, ends and answers the question, If first love is denied, can it ever be restored?
I fell in love with the hero, Dr. Steven Moore in the first book, so was eager to read about him in Restored. Elizabeth shows much more maturity and stability in this book than the previous one, and we get to know her two young sons who are both lovable and humorous. With themes of forgiveness, faith and family, this book will be of interest to those who enjoy more mature romance stories.

The author provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Wow! Talk about a tear-jerker. Tanya's story-telling capabilities made me feel at one with both Steven and Elizabeth. The struggle, the sorrow, and the joy all come forth on the page. I highly recommend reading Unconditional before this one, but the story is a stand-alone, so if you don't you won't feel as though you've missed something.
