As the onsite doctor for Lake Haven Lodge, Christina Davis is used to keeping secrets big and small. Lately, she’s taken confidentiality to a whole new level. There’s a secret she’s been keeping from her clan, and it involves the brawny, ever reserved carpenter, Owyn. The two share a pact no one knows about, and Doc’s finally ready to tear the lid off it. She only has to convince the steely panther that she’s the perfect match for him. Panther shifter, Owyn Wade, has seen his fair share of unfortunate feline matings, and he has no plans to allow his female to fall under the same curse. A vow to protect her and see to her needs without an official mating, is the only way to ensure she’s safe. From him. But five years later, things around the Ouachitas have changed, and now a future with his mate seems possible. Suddenly, there’s only one thing on his list of priorities: winning Doc’s heart. When the clan is threatened by a group of rebel shifters, Owyn and Doc’s time might be running out. They’ll have to rely on their love and family to see them through, because a shadow is looming over the Ouachitas. And things might get dark before they get brighter. ***Book 3 of the Ouachita Mountain Shifters series, which is a spin-off of the Dirt Track Dogs series. P. Jameson is a USA Today Bestselling author who likes to spend her time daydreaming, and then rearranging those dreams into heartstring-pulling stories of trials and triumph. Paranormal is her jam, so you're sure to find said stories full of hot alpha males of the supernatural variety who fall hard for strong, sassy women. She lives next door to the great Rocky Mountains with her husband and kids, who provide her with plenty of writing fodder.

My second favorite of the series so far! I love that Owyn and Doc had a little bit of history and that we got to see that in the flashback chapters. I’m a sucker for fwb books, so this was right up my alley!!
I’m srsly having such a fun time going through this series!!!
P. Jameson's series that takes place in the Ouachita Mountains is very dear to me for two reasons: 1.)The Ouachita Mountains is in my home state of Arkansas, 2.) She is one of my favorite authors. She knows how to write a book and keep you interested clean to the end. I did not put this book down till I had finished it. I will do this if the book is extremely good. P. Jameson has this way of making her characters seem real and like they could be somebody you know or want to know. She is truly a gifted author. The hero and heroine Owyn and Doc, are like two polar opposites that come together by sheer magnetic pull. A must read book and trust me you will not be disappointed.
Doctor Christina Davis is the onsite doctor for Lake Haven Lodge in the Ouachitas. She is use to keeping secrets big and small, but there is a huge secret she is keeping from her clan involving the handsome panther shifter and carpenter, Owyn. Doc feels it is time to come clean about the pact that she and Owyn have, but she has to convince of that and that she is his perfect match. Can she convince him that is time to bring their pact to the light?
Panther shifter, Owyn Wade, is the carpenter for the Lodge that his clan runs in the Ouachitas and he is best friends with the clan leader Magic. Owyn has seen his fair share of unfortunate feline matings and for this reason he agrees with Doc to keep their sex with no mating a secret so that she will not fall under the curse. He truly believes that this will keep her safe. Since the not mating law has been lifted Owyn has only one thing on his mind, and that is to win Doc's heart even if he has to take things slow and easy. Just when things are starting to look up for Doc and Owyn the clan is being threatened by Gash's old group of rebel shifters. Does this mean that Owyn and Doc’s time might be running out? Because of the shadow that is looming over the Ouachitas will things get dark before they get brighter?
This is one of those books that will make you laugh, cry, get mad, and want to fight. A must read. You will not be disappointed.
It’s a 2.5 rounded to 3. Cute clean writing. Not spicy at all. Good storyline and in hopping into this series already in progress, I didn’t feel lost but I wasn’t inundated with so much backstory that it would be pointless to read the others. I don’t feel compelled to continue the series because I wasn’t drawn to the characters. It’s a good waiting room read/listen especially for those of us who have no poker face when reading spicy scenes. Which is where I started it today. 😂 I will likely only pick up another book by this author in the event that I am in another waiting room. They are short enough to read in a few hours, the story is written well enough to make it pleasant reading experience and the storyline is interesting… I mean shifters!?! Yes please! Although, it did make me REALLY miss Patricia Briggs…
Owyn and Doc had so much love but both were afraid to show it or trust it. I’m glad Owyn was brave enough to take a leap of faith. The intrigue behind What Gash was into will continue for at least until the next book which is Gash’s story. Honestly I don’t like that part because it requires you to buy more books to get the answers you want. Until next time y’all happy reading.
This series is amazing! Owan and the Doc. Things have really started heating up at Haven Lake when the clan is attacked and things are only going to get worse. The clan rallies together to plan for the next attack. Each book in the series just keeps getting better and better!
I can find very few problems with this series the characters are likeable, the romance is heart warming, the loyalty of the clan makes for a great read.
You are looking for that series that has you so excited for the next book! Has Alpha males and string women this is it! You will not be disappointed in one story!
Awww Owyn & Christina's (Docs) story! There were a lot of ups and downs to this story. What I mean by that is sadness, happiness, heartbreak....*sighs*. Things are getting complicated with the Shadow Clan. Now that DTD will become involved makes it worse. I was trying to think Redman...where do I remember that? Ugh duh....Aaron is Annie's brother and he is/was a hunter and killed Rigor's mate. Yeesh thats not good! Crap has definitly hit the fan! Not sure where the stories are gonna go from here but I know its gonna be great.
I felt really bad for both Owyn and Doc. They've been mated secretly and both feeling its not enough anymore to keep it "casual". Its actually interesting how quickly Owyn comes to the conclusion that he wants Doc for more...like forever. I mean Doc's wanted more for awhile but afraid to say anything. Owyn takes the initiative to woo her. Ha. So sweet! We finally know what went down with Tana though and that was horrible! I'm glad we got that out in the open though. We needed that. Bailey....I feel for her. I feel for Gash. I'm not sure what he said to her but it had to have been cruel. Its his way of protecting her but its the wrong choice bud! Mason....yah that one deserves so much. Cupid indeed lol. He's going through some stuff too! I can't wait to see what comes next and I hate to wait ha. :) Recommended read!
2017 review I sort of like this series but it hasn't grabbed me. I dislike the way they describe themselves, male/female speak, it just feels wrong to me. I know lots of people love this series but I am pulling the plug on it. 2022 Reread through Kindle Unlimited. I don’t even remember how I first read this series but the name rang a bell when I was browsing KU. Seeing there are more books and my reviews were favourable, I have decided to start this series over from the beginning to refresh my memory. These two needed to just talk. Christina and Owyn are both cowardly in not being honest about what they want. The rules of the clan have changed and there is no longer a reason to stay secret. In fact, they should have been the first to mate but obviously weren’t strong enough in character to buck Magic’s rules. I can understand why I stopped at this book. I never enjoy cruelness or problematic background stories with nasty, mean villains, and that is exactly what has been bought into this series. I hated Rigor for doing what he did to Gash and though I feel sorry for him and his reasons, I have a strong feeling his actions are all going to come back to bite him. It is his young son I feel the most sorry for. Still not sure if I will continue this series but as it is in KU I most probably will.
I never want to leave Ouachita Mountains! Magic and his clan have me hooked.
This story is about Doc (Christina) and Owyn. They met when Owyn was still feeling the loss of Magic's mate. Owyn is upfront with Doc about her being his mate and how he doesn't want a mate. His clan will not allow mates. Doc doesn't want a werecat shifter as a mate so she agrees to go with Owyn in the promise that they will never mate and the vow between the clan will protect her. Fast Forward Magic lifted the "no mating" law on the clan and Doc wants her mate. Owyn feels that Doc is so use to their friends with benefits that she doesn't want to mate.
Doc meets Owyn at a bar after he saved a panther from dying. When Owyn realizes that doc is his mate. They have been secretly mating for 5 years behind their clan leaders back because of the no mating rule that magic made 5 years ago after his mate died. Now that the rule has been lifted do they feel more than what each other really think they do. Need to read. Only bad part was too short. Ugh. Cannot wait to read the next installment of this series.
I enjoyed the story with Doc and Owyn. But the story is definitely not finished. You get the HEA from Doc and Owyn but there are many parts of the story about the Q Clan, Shadow pack, Annie's bro Aaron etc are up in flux. So I am ready to read the rest of the story. I enjoyed this book but it did read like a serial.
3 1/2 Stars - Owyn and Doc knew they were each other's mate for 5 years. Now that his clan could take a mate, he wanted to mark Doc as his. Their previous friends with benefits was not going to continue to work out with him. Every day he became more sure of his decision. I could only give this story 3 1/2 Stars because it was too short.
The entire series is a winner and the characters were awesome. This writer knows how to keep you on your toes from beginning to end. I loved that each book we will see a lot of the characters from previous books and keep up with their lives because they are a united family. Highly recommended and keep them coming.
Owen and Christina shouldn't have had such a difficult time becoming mates since they had been together for so long, but neither was talking about their relationship until Owen took the effort and showed Christina how he really felt. While all of that is going on, problems with the other clan heats up and they need to come up with some way to deal with them soon.
I usually stick to novels but Im liking this novella series. It's a quick read for me, little over an hour a book. I like the author's writing style. Characters and world building are complete. At this point though, the books are getting kind of predictable. But that doesn't mean I'm not going to read the rest.
Drama overload, but with a HEA, so it’s not too bad. Beautifully written to fix perfectly into this series. Unlike the previous books in this series, to get the full impact of this story, you really do need to read all the previous books. Sorry, not. Sweet, but so much heart wrenching drama.
He waited for alot of years. She wanted more from him. But she was afraid of the what it's . As time and things changed. They finally get their turn to be happy. Nothing is going to stop this.
I really enjoy P. Jameson's paranormal romances. They're typically fairly short and easy to devour in one sitting. Unfortunately, this one wasn’t that great. It felt more like a set-up for the next installment in the series. So, the main couple kind of bored me.
This one was adorable. Just overall adorable. I loved them as a couple, and she was hilarious! I loved her train of thought. This one might be my favorite all because of Doc in all honesty. Also, the date he took her on to make themselves public, adorable on how shy he was. So. Freaking. Adorable.
Not sure how Doc was able to hide her mating for so long. Lots going down with Gash and his former clan. I hope there is a happy ending here it's been a bit of an emotional ride. I'm gearing up for the next book.
