Delilah broke up with her boyfriend Ben nine months ago and hasn't gotten over him, and when her old friend invites her to the wedding she has six months to find a boyfriend to show Ben that she is over him. Ben didn't just find a new girlfriend, but they are engaged and expecting a baby, thus Delilah is going to find a boyfriend no matter what, but of course she has good friends, who are ready to help her. She goes on several dates, one worse than the other without any luck. She eventually finds a way to show everyone that she has moved on, but that's when she discovers that the real love is closer than she could have expected.

I first noticed the beautiful cover and after reading the book, it was a really pleasant, lighthearted novel that made me laugh so many times. I really enjoyed it, and if you want to read a witty romantic comedy, then this book is for you.

The only good thing about this was that nobody wanted to name their kids after Ayn Rand characters.

This is technically 3.5 stars. This is my second Jennifer Joyce. I loved The beginner's guide to salad a lot more than this but this book was a good read nonetheless! I loved the initial dating disasters and man was it funny - I snorted out laughing with snappy one liners and sarcastic quips in more than one ocassion. What i Do have a problem with is convoluted lies used a plot device and this book from the intermission point had a lot of them and it sort of took the shine away from what could have been an amazing read! I was never in doubt as to who she was going to end up with although I would have like a little more interaction with the main love interest. Although what I did love was Lauren and her story! I had an inkling of doubt during one of the initial chapters and I was glad that my suspicions were true and honestly a part of me wanted their own story or the love declaration to be witnessed. But overall a fun read and looking forward to more of her very funny books! :)k

The Wedding Date is a fab romantic comedy – quick-witted, refreshing and a purely fun read. Delilah (cue bursting into Plain White T’s song) is not over her ex, Ben, no matter how much she tries to convince everyone otherwise. But when she’s invited to an old friend’s wedding and discovers Ben will be attending, very much loved up with someone else, she’s desperate to prove just how much she’s moved on. The only trouble is, she doesn’t have a plus one, but having lied (one of many) to her friend and suggested otherwise, she needs to find a date for the fast approaching big day. But who?

This contemporary romance novel sees Delilah become a character extremely relatable to a lot of other twenty-plus year old women. She’s an easy character to get along with – not always making the best of choices but at least she admits it. Written in first-person POV, the way she tells the story is very engaging and it feels like a friend is filling you in on the latest gossip rather than simply reading a book about a stranger and some mad decisions. Parts of her character are easy to identify with and maybe you haven’t made all of her chaotic choices but I’m sure you’ve considered at least one of them!

Through online dating, random setups from friends and family and other encounters, Delilah goes on a series of dates and each one made me laugh out loud at some point. There were some truly horrific dates in there. If you’re not currently dating then I think this book will make you feel mightily relieved! And if you are… well, I hope you have a bit more luck than Delilah.

It took me to about 15% before I fully connected with this book but by that stage, I was so engrossed and eager to see whether Delilah would get her wedding date and if so, who would it be? Easily my favourite aspect to The Wedding Date was the characters who after only a few chapters felt really familiar and believable. I loved Delilah’s best friends Ryan and Lauren. Ryan made me laugh so many times and I enjoyed his interactions with Delilah and getting to know his character, especially his relationship with his infuriating mum. I also loved reading some of Delilah’s work scenes and especially fell a little bit (a lot) in love with Adam. Delilah’s family also made me smile throughout, in particular her brother Justin and her loveable dad.

Each chapter of The Wedding Date begins with a quick series of text messages between Delilah and one of her friends or family member. I loved these – each one made me laugh and hinted at the theme of what was to come in the following chapter. I loved Jennifer’s humour throughout this book. Delilah was a very genuine character and her ability to laugh at herself made her human and realistic – she was so down-to-earth that I could do nothing but root for her.

Every aspect of this book was light-hearted and those kind of books can be so satisfying – there are many times when all I want is a book to make me laugh and dodge real life for a while and Jennifer Joyce’s books are always so perfect for that reason. The Wedding Date was incredibly fun-filled and offered laughs on every page. It will make you smile, it will make you crave biscuits and it will lift your spirits.

Twenty-something Delilah James can't get her ex-boyfriend Ben out of her head and really wants to get him back. However, when she discovers he has already moved on by getting engaged to someone else, Delilah is determined to prove to the world that she has forgotten all about Ben as well. She needs to find a handsome date to a friend's wedding where Ben will be the best man, and luckily her two best friends Ryan and Lauren are ready to help her out. Delilah soon finds herself on a wild goose chase, going on one horrible date after another. Until she discovers the man of her dreams might have been right under her nose all along... The question is; does Delilah really know what it is she wants and has she really moved on as much as she is claiming to be?

Another thoroughly enjoyable romantic comedy from publisher Carina UK and a great new-to-me author in the form of Jennifer Joyce! I couldn't get enough of 'The Wedding Date' and was quite sad when I'd reached the end of the novel; I really enjoyed every single page. The book has a relatable and easy-to-love heroine at its centre, Delilah, with a wonderful and memorable group of secondary characters as well (such as her best friends Ryan and Lauren, her colleagues at the biscuit factory where she works, and her family consisting of her parents and brother and sister). The plotline of the story is quite basic, but Jennifer Joyce really managed to make things interesting and the book held my attention at all times, keeping me curious.

I especially loved the author's writing style and the pace of the book. It was incredibly easy to get lost in the story and the book itself and the chapters both had the perfect length, in my opinion. Each chapter started with a short fun text message conversation, which I also thought was a nice touch that had me laugh out loud several times. I guess this book just really managed to tick all of my boxes for a great and entertaining read and it's a novel I highly recommend to any chick lit/romance fan looking for their next read. 'The Wedding Date' is an uplifting and light-hearted romantic comedy about moving on after a break-up; a brilliant read which I loved from start to finish!

The Wedding Date is another really enjoyable and entertaining story by Jennifer Joyce. If you don't like large webs of lies then this may not be the story for you, as it did get a bit confusing at one point, trying to remember who was aware of which lies that Delilah couldn't help but tell.

It all started with one small omission of fact, where Delilah implies she has got over her ex of 9 months and is also moving on and dating again. And somehow she is persuaded to bring the new man as her plus one to an old friends wedding. The only small problems are that Delilah is not over Ben, and she has no interest in dating again at the moment.

And so project Wedding Date is born, between her and her two best friends Ryan and Lauren. Between them they try all manner of ways to meet men for Delilah to make the lie true, and have a date for the wedding.

The first half of the book is filled with some truly horrifying but hilarious dates, as all sorts of stereotypical male characteristics are on display, from the sore loser to the one very much not over his ex and a whole variety of others.

To my eyes there are two potential men that Delilah was likely to end up with, either the best friend or the colleague, and for a long time I really wasn't sure which way the story would go. Of course I won't spoil the ending by telling you, but would be interested to see how many predict accurately.

Despite Delilah not really liking her job, I must say I did enjoy seeing her at work as there were just enough mentions of biscuits and possible recipes including biscuits to make me very peckish.

I loved the light hearted feel to this feel good romantic comedy, with each chapter starting with a text message exchange either past or present that is relevant to the upcoming chapter, between Delilah and her friends. Even her name is made fun of many times, and if you think one of the jokes is about to start wearing thin, think how it must be for any real person with that name, and how often they must hear the same comments/songs.

Thanks so much to Netgalley and Carina for this review copy. This was my honest opinion.

This was a cute story that reminded me a lot of stories by Sophie Kinsella and Lindsey Kelk. Lighthearted and funny, with a relatable heroine that you can't help but like. The storytelling first-person perspective was quirky and felt like you were listening to a friend, which isn't your usual style for a romance and added something fun. As did the sprinkling of pop culture references (Westlife, McFly/McBusted, and Dawson's Creek all get mentions).

Delilah's many dates that go horribly, though amusingly, wrong are great. Almost unbelievable, but in that way that it's like hearing people talk about their worst dates and you think "Really?! I can't believe there are people out there like that," but there really are people that kooky. The way she gets herself into some of the various situations is comical in an "I Love Lucy" way that will make you smile.

It's a story not without some heart though, and I found myself appreciating Delilah's denial and rose-tinted glasses when it came to her ex-boyfriend. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that I have definitely been there. The arc of "moving on" was well-done.

The story had me wondering practically from the beginning, whether she would fall for Ryan or Adam. And it continued to keep me guessing throughout the bulk of the story. I won't tell you how things go though, you'll need to read to find out!

Overall, I thought this was a good fast read that you can read leisurely, even being interrupted by a kidlet, as I was a few times. :)

I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. My opinion is my own.

Honestly, I skimmed through most of it because I found the texts and incessant chatter and conversation to be annoying.

Full disclosure: it could also be due to my lack of sleep

What I liked was Delilah when she was at work. Her home life and friends were annoying and she came off as being a bit flighty and superficial. Who the eff cares if you show up to a wedding alone???? Francesca is a terrible, terrible friend! Why do you need that toxicity in your life???

Seeing Delilah at work and her interactions with Adam is when she was her most genuine self. It would have been nice for more of that and less of all the dates and crap with her family and friends. Or make her friends less annoying! Was it really necessary for Ryan to have that much of a story and especially when his mother disliked Delilah so much?? Fuck that!

I was hoping Delilah would have disclosed all this to Adam since they were just chums but I guess that would have scared him off and rightly so. All the lies were insane and she should have just told him…Adam was so great and sweet and authentic and just a really great book boyfriend. Even when he listened to her story about her lies and came around pretty fast about Ryan not being her boyfriend. But he was right to walk away because she clearly had stuff to deal with still.

The make-up was rushed and unsatisfactory (if Adam wanted to know where the wedding was, why didn’t he call or text her?) and I hardly cared about the other characters in the epilogue. Especially her co-worker Katie-Ray or whatever her name was. Who cares if she’s all successful now?? She’s a terrible person!!

Less would have been way, way more. Another victim of having too much going on. This story should have been striped way down.

The Wedding Date by Jennifer Joyce is hilariously sweet. A young woman is stuck living with her parents not because she hasn't tried planning to move out on her own. In fact, she has tried several times...only with each plan failing on her. But Jennifer Joyce has created a spunky tough female who doesn't give up...even when things look bad. From falling down on one's face with a scrapped knee to getting to late work because of a hangover to lying about being mugged...and then to have the only man she thought she would marry to break her heart...Delilah has to be tough. It takes great courage to keep one's head up despite all the obstacles life throws at one's feet. Readers will be laughing out loud as they follow Delilah and her journey in finding her happiness. A story full of disasters, humor, and hope. I absolutely loved reading this novel.

The Wedding Date is a sweet romantic novel that depicts a tale of one woman in a great need for a man as her wedding date. Delilah has had her one man dump her and break her heart. Can she find a date for her, friend's wedding and pull off finding a real man? Readers will be kept in suspense as to what will happen with Delilah. A good woman who intrigues readers from the beginning to end. Jennifer Joyce knows how to keep readers turning the pages with this realistic and fun tale. Readers can easily sympathize and relate to Delilah. The Wedding Date is by far the most exciting romance I have read. Overall, I highly recommend this read to readers worldwide.

I enjoyed this, a simple chick lit story where Delilah needs a date to show off at her friend's wedding in order to prove she's over the ex boyfriend who will be there.
I loved the friendship she has with best friends Lauren and Ryan and the ways they try to help her out with her wedding problem of needing a date. Though the storyline itself has been done before this still had its unique style and twists to keep it fresh.
Starting each chapter with a text conversation between characters was different and many made me giggle at the sheer honesty of how you would expect the characters to converse.
I think Ryan could have been a bit stronger willed towards his mum and Delilahs younger brother Justin could have been given more storyline but overall was a nice easy relaxing read that made me smile

The Wedding Date is the first of Jennifer Joyce's books that I have read. It proved to be a lovely easy read full of laugh out loud moments providing the reader with a feel good atmosphere. This book is definitely a romantic comedy as the balance between the humour and love is nicely achieved. I hate using the term chick lit but this book does fall into that category and to be honest there really is nothing wrong with that. Sometimes you just needed that nice easy read which will take your mind away from things for a couple of hours as you become engaged with the characters and the ups and downs of their lives. What makes this book stand slightly apart from the rest is the inclusion of text messages at the beginning of each chapter. They were hilarious and I found myself looking forward to reading them. They are so typical of texts sent among friends or to parents and couldn't be more blunt or to the point if they tried. The book was a quick, light read, if a little predictable, but it did have all the elements of this genre that we have come to know and love. Jennifer obviously enjoyed writing this book as it showed in the storyline and the cast of very varied characters.

The opening scene where we meet Delilah James begins with a series of calamities and lies and doesn't really let up for the entire book. Delilah seems to be a person who gets herself into situations others wouldn't wish upon themselves. Delilah is suffering from a raging hangover and running for the bus when she trips and falls cutting her knee leaving her late for at Brinkley's biscuit factory. So begins a day of lies as she lets on she was mugged and that's why she was late. She feels too much of a fool to say she had fallen. Delilah never expected to be still working in the factory office after a number of years, she had wanted to move on to bigger and better things. Instead she finds herself working with an unusual cast of colleagues mostly from the managers family with the one exception the gorgeous Adam. Paired with the fact she doesn't like her job all that much – (what fun is it when you can't test all the biscuit to your hearts content?) is that she still lives at home with her parents and younger brother Justin and also she is still reeling from the break up of her relationship with Ben some months ago.

Delilah still believes herself and Ben will get back together. After all didn't they have something good going that was leading towards marriage? Or so Delilah thought? Really Delilah needed to gather herself together, come to her senses and realise she should just move on with her life and find a more suitable man. So we come to the whole crux of the book as mentioned in the title as Delilah faces her biggest challenge yet. Francesca her friend from childhood is getting married .The only problem is Ben will be best man at the wedding and he also has moved on rapidly with a girl called Eden. Delilah is devastated and her strong characteristic rears its head once more when she lies to Francesca and says she too has a boyfriend who she shall bring to the wedding. The only problem is she doesn't but now she needs one and fast.

Delilah along with her friends Lauren and Ryan make up a strong trio who are always up for a laugh and support each other through any rough patches that come their way. They love nothing more than going to the local pub quiz even if they do come last on a regular basis. Their evenings together lead them to form a plan for Delilah to find a boyfriend she can take to the wedding. Operation find a wedding date begins with disastrous of consequences. I did think this was all over the top couldn't Delilah just have confessed the truth instead of digging herself deeper and deeper into a hole that would be very hard to climb out of. But on the other hand if she had done that we would have had no book at all and I suppose it's all part and parcel of the genre. With so many books having been published in women's fiction over the years it must be challenging to bring something new to the table. The author did that here even if in my mind it was a bit incredible that someone would go to that much trouble. Delilah seemed to think that people would judge her for having no boyfriend where as I think telling the truth would have been a lot easier. Her family and friends wouldn't have passed any comment on her single status.

Delilah embarks on a slew of unusual and weird dates needless to say the man she is looking for is harder to find than she thought. There were lots of cringeworthy scenes that gave the reader plenty to laugh at but I can't say Delilah found them as funny. The book moved along nicely as we got nearer and nearer to the wedding. I guessed from the start how everything would pan out therefore that's why I thought it did become predictable. There were a few twists and turns which did have you thinking oh is it going to go the way I thought it would and that kept you on your toes fora little bit. But the major part of the plot involving Delilah and a certain man did fail to impress me as I really didn't think this would happen even if this was fiction. There is a certain point where you have to think would someone really do this all to pretend they have/ need to find a boyfriend for a wedding. I did find Lauren's storyline was just thrown in and came out of nowhere. If she had featured a little more heavily or maybe even a chapter from her point of view it would have made things a bit more clearer for the reader.

Overall if things were a little bit foreseeable The Wedding Date is still a nice read perfect to curl up with for a few hours.

Delilah needs a date. She doesn't want to turn up at her old friends wedding alone, especially when her ex and his new fiance will be there.

Delilah was ok as a main character, but I found myself preferring some of the supporting cast. I did enjoy the relationship with her two best friends, I now have a hankering for a pub quiz! Some of her dates were also quite amusing. Although there were some sweet moments, there were also times when I wanted to reach into the book and shake Delilah.

I knew what to expect when I picked up The Wedding Date. It was an inoffensive, light read. A nice break from reality.

The Wedding Date was recommended to me by a friend and I'm so thankful for that! Such a fun, light read about dating, jealousy, friendship and family that anyone can relate to if they're interested. While it's basically a story we've all heard before, I still think this is a great book to bring on your next vacation.

This book was soooo adorable. I didn't want to put it down. It's cute and sweet and I did cringe at some of Delilah's decisions but it's what made the story interesting. I want to know what happened with Vincent though??? Why was that date so bad. Anyways the book was still cute and adorable.

Ah, weddings! They can be stressful can’t they? I mean, you need to ensure you’re looking your best, preened to perfection from head to toe with every single thing organised. Plus there is the added stress of invitations. Without those, nobody would turn up, obviously, but then you have to painstakingly sit there and work out who you’re going to the wedding with……
Oh, no, sorry, I’m not on about the stresses for the bride!! The bride will be with her husband! I was on about who would have the privilege of accompanying a singleton to a wedding, a plus one, a wedding date. STRESS!! Now if that wasn’t enough to send your mind into overdrive, you then find out from the bride herself that your ex partner will be at the wedding. Not just a quick fumble type ex, an ex that truly broke your heart and has moved on faster than a conveyor belt at the supermarket.
Single, going to a wedding, ex partner to be there with NEW partner, did I say single? Surely it won’t be that much of a disaster….will it?

My, my, myyyyyy Delilah. Yes, I did it. Sorry Delilah! Delilah has six months to find herself a date for an old friends wedding. Usually it would be a simple task as she could have taken her best friend, however, her ex Ben is going to be there. Cue major girl drama and her two best friends (and sister) trying to set her up with every Tom, Dick, and Harry. Well, Delilah’s sister’s choice of men is quite questionable. A man and a computer, what could possibly go wrong….

I want Delilah’s job, she works in a biscuit factory. Unfortunately, she doesn’t work where the biscuits are made, that is the only downfall. Although, she does work next to something else that is ‘sweet’. Meet Adam, one of the new guys in her office, everything about him shouts ‘dunk me’ (Peter Kay reference anyone?). Not only has Delilah’s two best friends pushed her to go on multiple dates courtesy of online dating, Adam manages to catch her eye. However, whilst that sounds perfect, Delilah believes that she isn’t good enough after Ben broke her heart, so she feels the need to tell one lie, then two, then….see where I’m going with this?

I knew Jennifer’s books were funny, but I underestimated how funny. Sarcasm + one liners + character’s with questionable personalities = TWG snorting. Classy, right? Many times throughout the book I kept changing my mind about where I thought the story was heading. Some situations were saying one thing, and others were changing my train of thought completely. However, I was still surprised, probably a bit like Delilah was when she found out her ex Ben was going to be at the wedding!

There are a few situations in the book that had me covering my face because I was cringing and thinking ‘did that just happen?’. No, not because of Jennifer’s writing, but because of several characters and their one track minds. I may have been cringing, but I loved it. ‘The Wedding Date’ is such a light-hearted and easy flowing read, nothing within the book was a hardship to read. I genuinely didn’t want the book to finish as I wanted to find out what happened AFTER the wedding. The characters had such depth that I felt they had more to give and perhaps needed another story to breathe in. If that makes sense? Maybe I am just being greedy and wanting more. That isn’t a bad thing though! Definitely recommended as one of my ‘Must reads of 2016’!!

I do want Jennifer Joyce as my new BFF though, her humour is pretty much like mine. One thing though Jennifer, please don’t set me up with any….computer exploring guys, if you catch my drift! I am looking forward to read what you have in store next!

I liked the sound of the book so very much, and as it is by Jennifer Joyce, I was sure that I am for a treat - I read her "The Mince Pie Mix - Up" last year and enjoyed it totally, and I can remember that Jennifer's writing style was exceptionally funny and warm, so without hesitation I hit the "Request" button and was looking forward to starting reading this novel.

The idea of the plot is simple, but it is often the simplest things that works best, right? So Delilah claims she's over her ex - boyfriend, well, it's already 9 months that they're not together, and she can move on, but then she somehow lets it slip that she's going to bring a new boyfriend to her friend's wedding. The problem is, there is no boyfriend, and it starts to be clear that Delilah is NOT over Ben yet. So then continues the frantic search for a perfect boyfriend, and you know me, I love good dating stories and was waiting holding my breath to read about those hilarious dates and men that Delilah is going to meet. And well, yes, some of them made me really smile, but I couldn't help thinking that they are also so, so clichéd - I mean, how often did I read about men that aren't over their ex - wives or very competitive guys who can't see them losing at anything? Yes, sure, it was brilliantly and lightly written but I couldn't feel this teeny tiny disappointed at the lack of originality here. Nevertheless, Delilah MUST find a date to show Ben how much she's over him, so a project Wedding Date appears and Delilah's two best friends, Ryan and Lauren, help her to find her a perfect boyfriend. Between a date or two there were two really serious competitors for Delilah's charms, and I really wasn't sure which way is the story going to end. On the other hand, it is clear almost from the very beginning who the perfect date for the wedding is and only Delilah doesn't see this - however, at the end the author has complicated the things a little and I wasn't so sure how I'd like it to end, and I was a little torn, especially after Lauren's revelation.

Delilah tells a lot of lies, that's true, but these were not lies that were putting someone in danger, so I personally didn't see it as a very big problem. It was Delilah herself who had a problem, as she suddenly realised that she tangled herself in a little web of these lies and stopped remembering what's true and what's not and who knows what. And I liked her. She was tough and optimistic, and she didn't give up when things looked really, really bad. Life has been throwing lots of obstacles at her feet but she always kept her head high.

It was a light - hearted, feel - good romantic comedy, and I can't express how much I loved that each chapter started with a short test message exchange between Delilah and her friends. They were hilarious and I think I could read a whole book made only out of these messages! It was a predictable, but warm and sweet read with great characters that develop on the way, especially our Delilah. The writing style stayed the same and the author has really a great talent to tell stories in a warm, hooking way - it is a novel to brighten up your day and make you feel better. Recommended!

Jennifer Joyce is the author of 5 works, 4 of which (including this one) I've read and greatly enjoyed. Her books are light, fun and giggle inducing and I was pretty sure The Wedding Date would be no exception. However, I have to admit despite being familiar with Jennifer's writing, I honestly didn't expect to enjoy this book so much. Even if I had any expectations, it definitely exceeded them.

The Wedding Date tells the story of Delilah James, a modern woman in her 20s and pretty much single. It's been 9 months after the break up with Ben, but she's not really over him. To make things worse, she's invited to her oldest friend's wedding and her ex is supposed to be there, as he too is a friend of the bride and the groom. All of a sudden, Delilah wants nothing more but to show Ben she's over him and appear at the wedding with her plus one (and maybe even win Ben back). There's a slight problem though, she doesn't feel like going into another relationship and even if she was, there doesn't seem any available men that take her interest. Except maybe her colleague, he's cute...kind of, but definitely not into her.

Delilah has to check loads of frogs to find her prince and wedding date, and she's definitely going to get lots of things complicated. Is honesty really the best policy? Yes, we'll all agree on that, but can we forget our ego and show the world who we are. A little lie here and there is not supposed to hurt, right? And besides, she's got everything under control. #NOT

The Wedding Date was such a fun book! Having read almost all of Jennifer's books, (except for her previous 'The Mince Pie Mix Up', which IS waiting on my kindle and hope to read it soon), I feel free to say she's definitely grown as a writer and her books are getting funnier and funnier. I do love seeing authors advance, work on themselves and start creating characters which feel so real.

One of the reasons I devoured this book in few short hours is the main character, Delilah. I found her great, not as clumsy as Bridget Jones but definitely has her sense for creating drama. To a certain extent you might say there were loads of cliches in the book, but to be honest, I didn't care much for that. As for whether the story line was predictable or not. I was on a journey and I enjoyed the ride! I really cared for Delilah and she won my heart from page one. I know it is silly to chase a date just to prove someone you're over them, but I BET we've all been there..done that! Maybe we've not faked a date, but I'm pretty sure we've tried to prove we're enjoying our singledom.

I also liked Delilah's friends and the bond she has with them. The only thing which in my opinion could have been better, is the romance part. Let's just say I needed more convincing, OK? But other than that, The Wedding Date is a fantastic book to read after long working hours, or for chilling while on holidays. In my opinion, this is Jennifer's best book yet and I'm already looking forward to reading more from her.

Before picking this book, I had already read some of Jennifer Joyce's previous work so I knew that I was in for a fun lighthearted book. And I was not wrong, The Wedding Date certainly delivers what it promises: lots of laughs, quite a big web of lies with hilarious consequences, a good pinch of romance and best friends who are worth their weight in gold.

The story revolves around Delilah (I know what you are thinking, "hey there Delilah..." and all that, she has heard it before, a thousand times, which made me giggle every time it got mentioned). Basically, Delilah has been dumped by perfect Ben and they both are attending a friend's wedding. Very maturely, Delilah needs a wedding date to prove to Ben that she is over him, which she evidently isn't. But well, she is quite young and I actually really liked her, so I'm going to forgive her immaturity here.

The first part of the book then centers on all the dates Delilah goes to to find the perfect wedding companion. Let's say they all go horribly well (for me, seriously, I was laughing out loud with some of those guys). And the second part of the story focuses more in Delilah's two possible new love interests. There was a moment there I really didn't know which way it was going to go. I really enjoyed this suspense and how the author played a bit with us.

I really liked seeing Delilah grow and mature during the story. As I said, I really liked her from the beginning, but she was a bit naive and she was kidding herself if she thought she was over her ex. But as the story progressed, we saw new parts of her, and she became more invested in her job, in her friends and in her own happiness. So I ended up really caring for her.

Around Delilah there was also a whole bunch of characters, from her lovely parents and her best friends to her not so lovely employers, they all formed a great community and I had lots of fun with them. Plus, Delilah worked at a biscuit factory (which, apparently, is not that much fun) and I loved reading all about biscuits and the recipes they all came up with for a campaign at the factory. I can't wait to try some myself.

All in all, The Wedding Date is a fun and cute story that will put a smile on your face. With lovable characters and quite a lot of drama, you won't get one bit bored with this one.

I don’t think I need to remind you how much I loved A beginners guide to salad (see gush here) and so I was very excited to read this. Although it didn’t make quite the impact A Beginners Guide did, I really enjoyed it. We meet Delilah James, aged twenty four, who, as you see above, has six months to find a date for her friend’s wedding. Fairly early on in the book I remembered Ms. Joyce’s easy, warm style of writing and smile out loud comedy and I was happy out.
In fact, some of the comedy was beyond genius, her and her friend’s non existent use of the gym, the comparisons between her place of work:Brinkleys biscuit factory, and McVities, and just the general tone of the book which was so satisfying.
The dates were mixed, mostly I enjoyed them, but in places I was reminded how much younger Delilah is than me and I found it all a bit more difficult. Age shouldn’t really be an issue with books, but at thirty five, and as an avid reader of chick lit, a genre which pretty much needs you to connect in some way with the protagonist, I’m finding a bit more of a divide and when there is I can’t relate to the characters as much. The only other issue I had was with the text messages that were shown at the beginning of each chapter. Although some of these were genius, and some hilarious, there was the odd one that could be confusing.
I loved that there were so many things going on in the book, plans to be implemented for work, and other love stories all running alongside Delilah’s attempts to find an acceptable date.
There are many nods to various shows that I watched in my teens, such as That 70s show and Dawson’s Creek, which give the book a comfy familiar feeling. The characters were great, very vivid and real, and I really enjoyed it. All in all I’d definitely recommend. Thanks to Netgalley for this book in return for an honest review.

I was very excited when I saw Jennifer Joyce had another book to be published. The title f this book sounds great and so does the blurb.

The story follows Delilah, who is still heartbroken over Ben. He has long moved in though, he is actually about to propose to his new girlfriend, they are stating a family. When Delilah is invited to a wedding, where Ben will definitely be there, she is determined tontake a date with her. So the search for a guy begins, she does everything to meet them, tries different things, but makes some weird experiences. It's fun to read about her date adventures and the guys she meets are... Well let's say they make the story interesting.

Always with her Delilah has her two best friends Lauren and Ryan, they are a great bunch of friends and they are so much fun to read about. Ryan with his dates all the time, his mother setting him up and Lauren with her crush on a fitness coach. Lauren might have some deeper feelings for someone else though...And Ryan?! Well, the stiry gets really exciting when he suddenly starts pretending to be Delilah's boyfriend. Their families reaction is quite hilarious.

Well, Delilah likes hanging out with Adam from work, they spend more and more time together. Could there be more?! I really enjoyed their scenes and moments.

Jennifer write a great and fresh story here, I enjoyed every second of it. This book is fun, vivid, entertaining, sweet and so much more. Jennifer takes you right into the story with her writing and creates a wonderful atmosphere.

Around 3.5 stars.

This book was a roller-coaster. At the beginning I didn't like it much because it's told in a first person PoV and the main character, Delilah, is constantly breaking the fourth wall with comments like "let me tell you dear reader" or "more on this later" Thankfully the annoying behaviour doesn't last long.

Delilah got dumped by the love of her life nine months ago and now has to see him again for her friend's wedding. Little does she know that Ben-the-Ex has not only moved on but it's engaged! So in a desperate attempt to look like she has moved on too she invents herself a boyfriend whom she's much in love with. The problem is that now she has six months in order to produce said boyfriend for the wedding.

So Delilah throws herself into the world of dating all over again. I have to admit that it's not the most novel plot; the "horrible" first date is a trope that has been used again and again but at least the author doesn't overdo it. Yes, some of Delilah's dates are horrible but they're not really exaggerated, just the typical bad dates that happen from time to time, and I found them highly entertaining.

Sadly at some point after several unsuccessful dates Delilah finally finds someone to play her fake boyfriend, however the lie grows and grows until she's juggling so many lies to so many different people...

And then she finds true love and I found the romance to be really good, but I didn’t believe that her new love of her life would actually forgive her for all the lies.

But of course he did and everything was solved and they lived happily ever after.

So fun and quick read for when you're looking for romance with a laugh!

Delilah is twenty four and having a horrific time . She was dumped by the man she thought she loved -Ben- nine months before. Delilah still hoped he would come back to her but actually he is already engaged to another woman who is pregnant by him. So Delilah has a friend named Francesca that she has been friends with since the were six, They weren’t really that close any more but stayed in contact with each other. Francesca was marrying Jeremy and Francesca wanted to let Delilah know Ben was to be best man. So Delilah has to find a plus one and she has six months to do it. So Delilah did everything to find the man. She had a date with the local bartender and she tried online dating , her friends and family set her up on blind dates. Delilah’s two best friends are Lauren and Ryan. Ryan even pretends to be her boyfriend for awhile. Delilah works at Brinkley’s biscuit factory. Delilah finds her job dull but six months ago Adam was hired as head of media. Adam was very nice to Delilah and they start hanging out after work. Delilah has a sense of drama and lies- not to hurt anyone but to make herself and her life appear better but some of the consequences…….
This story was really cute. I laughed alot in it especially over some of those dates…. This story was an easy and fun read. It was also realistic and wouldn’t be the first time this scenario has happened. The plot and writing was good as were the characters. I loved the ins and out Delilah went through. I recommend.
I received an ARC of this story for an honest review.

The way you are introduced to Delilah is great, it's fun and you get a real insight into her character. You didn't instantly know everything about her from the first couple of pages which I quite liked. Her two best friends are also a good addition to the book. As I was reading I felt like I was drawn into their inner circle. I especially loved the text messages that were at start of every chapter they were always fun to read.

I thought the plot moved at a good pace there weren't really any slow parts to the story at all. There were some comical moments that were great but also slightly embarrassing for Delilah. The story isn't a complicated one so it is easy to follow with no confusing moments.

Overall I thought this book was full of charm and enjoyable, I was pulled into Delilah's world and was definitely entertained! The characters in this book were really fun and even though Delilah had her faults she really made this book an engaging read. There were just enough characters to make it interesting but not too many that you forgot who was who. I would recommend reading The Wedding Date if you are in need of a pick me up. It is a charming read that is fun, humorous and perfect for brightening up a dull day!

Four stars from me.
