Sultry New Orleans seethes with over 300 years of grim secrets. No one knows this better than psychic sisters Charmaine and Jessi Joliet.
Charmaine and Jessi take on the case of a rich Garden District socialite. Something supernatural is creeping around her grand nineteenth century mansion, and she wants it gone. On the outside, she's the picture of respectability and decorum. Yet within those stately walls lurk generations of dark secrets. Charmaine and Jessi find themselves caught in twisted plots, betrayals, and murder. They'll need every ounce of their paranormal skills to solve a grisly murder and stay alive.
There should have been more editing in this book. I found multiple typos. There was also an inconsistency with Charmaine’s age. The first book said 32 and this one said 29 are they not consecutive?
A quick read to introduce you to the protagonists in this story. Quite a few spelling errors throughout the story but all in all still enjoyable way to spend an hour and a half
Thanks to Instafreebies for introducing me to this new series/author.
Having just finished the short story prequel SMOOTH OPERATOR yesterday, I was excited to get started on the second one. I have to say that while I enjoyed the story very much, in the end I was just a little bit disappointed. Only a little bit and not for the reason you might think. Seeing as how the first was a short story prequel, I was rather hoping for a full length novel for the second book, but it seems that is not the case. Only 7 chapters and I finished it in just under 24 hours. So, why was I disappointed? NOT LONG ENOUGH! :) I really and truly liked the characters, the setting, the story. There just wasn't enough. It felt too rushed for me and there was only little bits of background on the sisters Joliet and I would have loved to have had a bit more insight into exactly what their powers are, how they came to be etc.
All in all, it was a fun story and although there were a few typos here and there, nothing extraordinary and nothing that got on my nerves.
Now that I know what to expect out of the story, I won't be expecting the third to be any different in length, so it won't bother me quite so much. I really enjoyed the characters and and we'll see what the future brings.
