Deadly Obsession

Rate this book
A killer is loose who has a taste for human blood. Cole presses harder into the investigation, but the body count climbs. He has personal reasons for detesting the press, so sparks fly when Laurie hounds him for a story. Fate forces them to join forces, neither one anticipating the attraction that ensues. But just as Cole thinks he is close to finding all the answers, both personal and professional, Laurie disappears.

Deadly Obsession is a taut, gripping, fast-paced story of murder and madness. The tension mounts page after page, until the chilling and terrifying conclusion. The plot flows seamlessly and leaves the reader guessing as to who, and what the killer is until the very end. The characters are well defined and realistic, from the bitter, angry homicide detective to the chilling portrayal of a soul lost to madness. The dialogue is crisp, and direct, moving the story forward smoothly. While this is a suspense novel, there is also the underlying romance between Laurie and Cole, which is done so well, it blends into the main story flawlessly. Deadly Obsession is an intense story best read with all the lights on. I highly recommend this well-written novel to those who enjoy a murder mystery with enough suspense to keep them on the edge of their seat.

Awesome read!!! Patricia A Rasey's deadly obsession is awesome who done it with a great storyline and great characters!! Cole is a detective with a murky past who is involved in a investigation where women are being murdered in ritualistic ways and Laurie is the reporter sent to get all the details. These two very different people can't help their growing attraction for each other, but with the killer turning his sites on laurie as his new obsession their might not be a future. Only if they are able to catch the killer before Laurie becomes his next victim will these two lovers get their chance! So many twist's and turns!! Loved it!!

This is the first book in the Fairview Park series. It is a very intriguing book. I enjoyed the play between Lt. Cole Kincaid and reporter, Laurie Michaels. Cole is tormented by his past and the murder of his wife. So tormented he got a job in a hole in the wall town with barely any crime. Now, suddenly, a serial killer has come out to play and he has a taste for human blood.

When the first body shows up as the book opens, Cole is ripped from sleep to investigate. This is exactly the type of crime he hoped wouldn’t come to his new jurisdiction. New reporter, Laurie Michaels is also on scene shortly after Cole arrives looking for the story. She immediately gets under Cole’s skin in more ways than one.

This book was quite entertaining and I wanted to keep reading just to find out how things between Cole and Laurie would turn out. It was an exciting read. A lot of arrows point to Cole’s hard rocker roomie, Damian who fits the profile of the killer too perfectly. The author tries to make you believe it is him causing all this havoc but as we readers know, the most likely suspect is never the real killer. Pay attention to the clues and you might figure it out.

I liked the vibe of the whole book. Great atmosphere and pounding action. Highly recommended.

No author tortures characters as well as Patricia Rasey. That she does so with chilling plots and breath-stealing prose only proves Ms. Rasey is a master of the thriller genre. In Love You to Pieces Rasey’s skills are on full display. Only a master could shape a tale of a suicidal hero and forbidden love into a page turning thriller. Dressed in details of the Vampyre counter-culture Love You to Pieces transforms a small Ohio town into a fear-ridden community where murder, sexual deviance, and betrayal lurk to trap the innocent reader in a compelling and frightening world. I received an ARC of this book for an honest review, so here goes:
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. As Cole Kincaid and Laurie Michaels have a steamy chemistry neither can deny. Supporting characters help move the story along, provide intrigue, and just enough of a distraction for the reader that you aren't sure exactly who "The Soul" is until Rasey is ready for the reveal.
The plot of the book moves along smoothly, with just enough twists and turns to be intriguing but not so many that you get lost. Despite being a little predictable, Rasey engages the reader in a steady pursuit of a madman, while allowing glimpses into his psyche and the depth of his depravity.
Deadly Obsession is a great murder mystery/romance that doesn't seem to take itself too seriously. I strongly recommend this if you are a fan of Rasey's or if you enjoy hot romances with a twist of mystery.

Blood is life

Deadly Obsession is book 1 in a duet, The hour Before Dawn is book 2.
Deadly Obsession follows detective Cole Kincaid in the hunt for a serial killer. Cole moved to Fairview Park from Cleveland after his wife was murdered opting for a quieter life. It wasn't meant to be when women start turning up brutally murdered.
Laurie Michaels grew up with wealth, just graduated college with a degree in communication. Laurie is employed at the local news paper and is hungry for a story. Working with the grouchy detective could be her ticket to advancement, what Laurie doesn't count on is attracting the killers attention.
Patricia writes a fast paced thriller that will leave you guessing.

This book really has it all. Suspense, thrills, kills and drama with a side dish of romance. It's not a glass of wine kinda book, it's a pot of coffee kinda book because once you start it you just can't put it down. The characters are so well written that you truly feel as if you know them, are there with them and experiencing everything they are. The pace is fast and intense, just when you think things are going to slow down they ramp back up and you are back on the ride. I really thought I had it figured out, but then with all the twists and turns that this book has you just never really know until the very end and then WHAM! there it is!
I can't recommend this book high enough. If you can handle intense drama and suspense you will fall in love with this one!

~*~ I voluntarily read an Advanced Reader Copy of this book ~*~

This book gripped me from the first page, it had everything suspense, romance, intrigue, frustration and within the lovely paranormal world.

Cole Kincaid is a seasoned cop who gave up city life for the quiet cop life due to dark events that occured in his past. Laurie Michaels is a new reporter wanting to make a name for herself in the news world. The attraction between these 2 were immediate but Cole was resisting at first.

Who was the killer, that’s what you’ll be asking yourself throughout, so out your detective caps on people cause Patrica will take you through a maze!

Loved the book so much I had to buy a copy for myself.

Deadly Obsession (Fairview Park,#1) by Patricia Rasey exceptionally well done and intense. It's the best romantic suspense/thriller that I've read in a long time. So intense that I had to put it down every so often to keep from jumping out of my own skin. Character interaction is seamless with the Soul being his own brand of crazy. I found myself rereading his passages to interpret the meanings. The author keeps the reader engaged in the suspense until the very end. Just when you think you have it figured out, nope, you're wrong. Although the synopsis suggests the killers taste for blood, this is not a PNR. For that genre, I recommend any of this author's Sons of Sangue. Review by Annmarie.

I knew that Patricia Rasey could write paranormals because she has a fantastic vampire biker series, but I had no idea she could also write a fantastic, dark and deadly thriller about a serial killer. You have two fabulous lead characters in Lieutenant Cole Kincaid and young, up-and-coming reporter, Laurie Michaels. Then you have a killer who is pure evil along with a cast of supporting characters. This story had me on the edge of my seat all the way through, from Cole's story about his past and his dedication to the job, to Laurie's no-nonsense approach to getting her story, to the intense heat between the two of them, and then the unbelievable crimes. I highly recommend reading this story, but make sure you do it with the lights on.

I LOVED this book! It has action, suspense and love. I think it showed us more into the serial killer. I liked that the killer was hiding in plain sight. I never would have suspected him...I thought the other guy did it. I LOVE Cole Kincaid! He ain’t no joke. He kept on it. He didn’t give up even when the odds were stacked against him. He had a pain in the butt reporter Laurie Michaels who wanted a story. He wanted her....to print what he told her to print....but to what cost???? It was AMAZING! Could not put it down!

Absolutely loved this book!I was asked to do a review of it and since I love paranormal I jumped on it. This book has a mystery in it and had me guessing until close to the end on who the psycho was. I was floored at the ending. Definitely a book I'd read again.

I have read a lot of thriller mystery and I read this one fast. I found out who the killer was early on so I was not shocked nor surprised unlike many other readers. But I was annoyed by a few typos and grammatical mistakes.

Fast paved, hauntingly suspenseful

A serial killer in his quiet town bri gs a lady reporter to Cole's investigation....she soon becomes the focus of this vampire's attention....a rock band, an old case, and a predator on the hunt brings the reader into this suspenseful thriller.

I enjoyed the plot and the read with the exception of too much sex talk and a few grammatical errors. I know I sound prudish but that aside it was a good book. I even paid for the sequel.
