This book contains something I generally don't care for but I found myself enjoying it all the same. While I liked the characters and felt the way they felt for each other was believable I wish Grady had handled the wife situation differently. With that said I love that it was sort of a sexual awakening for the hero, although he was older he learned a thing or two from a much younger heroine. I really enjoyed that aspect since it is always the other way around. All in all it was an enjoyable read and I would definitely recommend it.

This was fun and lighthearted and witty and sexy and everything I expect to get from a Jennifer/Jasmine story. It's no secret that she is one of my all time favorite authors in every trope she's written. Her stories always ring so true and have just the right blend of fiction and realism to make it easy to get lost in the pages. The story of Grady and Jordana is an easy breezy Sunday afternoon read. It's not muddled with angst and turmoil and baggage. Altho one might think it would be, it's written in a way where the joy of present day and the fun of discovery takes precedence over the looming backdrop that actually propelled this story forward. Here's the gist .... Grady and his wife have been together for close to 20 years. He thinks they're doing just fine, but clearly she does not since she sends him an email asking for a divorce. And apparently, it's because he's too vanilla. OK, now here's the thing. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that 1) Wifey is going thru some sort of mid-life crisis/identity thing and 2) She's got herself something on the side already. So Grady has a dilemma, he doesn't want his marriage to end, but yet he doesn't even know what the problem really is. Why? Because his wife is not exactly being forthcoming on resolution ideas. This woman wants out. Period. And she makes it quite clear. But Grady isn't giving up. OH NO, he's gonna turn to his sexy co-worker, Jordana, and together they're going to make Grady less vanilla ... Cue, humorous, sexy, sensual shenanigans! I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF GRADY'S LESSONS ;) lol What I really really loved, were not just the actual shenanigans, but the undertow of feelings that were growing within Grady and Jordana for each other and neither was the wiser until WHAM, they were. And it was fantastic. God Almighty these two were soooo sexy together. Especially Grady. He was just so unsuspecting most of the time, until he wasn't. He really made me all nice and tingly on the inside. I loved them both from page one. The only one thing I would have liked to have happened differently was Grady's and Jordana's physical connection to have happened a little bit sooner than it did. Intellectually, I know why the author chose to stretch it out as much as possible, but I just really really wanted those fireworks to happen and I came very very close to the bored with this line before they did. However, still an outstanding story with excellent secondary characters that I cannot wait to dig into. :)
What if your boss's wife left him for another man, and your boss—this man of your dreams—turned to you for help?
Jennifer Skully sets up this powerful struggle of intimacy. If Grady wants his wife back, he'll need to improve his bedroom skills and the only one he trusts is Jordana, his work colleague. If Jordana wants Grady to be happy, she'll need to show him how to properly pleasure a woman. Together they confront a necessary forbidden love.
How close would you let yourself go? Would you give him a helping hand, lips, legs, and everything in between? Why take that journey if it only means letting your star pupil graduate, leaving you heartbroken?
Desire Actually was no quick romp. Skully set up a mighty story and took me through all the compelling, sensual struggles their romance faced. I found myself wrapped around both Jordana's and Grady's hearts, wanting what they wanted, lusting when they lusted, tasting what they tasted. With Jennifer Skully's skillful storytelling, the delicious journey in Desire Actually became my own and I closed the book with a smile of fulfillment.
Please note, I received a complimentary copy of this book for a fair and honest review. How fortunate I was!
Very interesting setup. Dude learns his wife wants a divorce *through email* and just happens to run into a younger colleague. After a brief conversation, she decides to "coach" him on what a girl wants. Both of them believe he'll fight for his wife with his newfound knowledge when the lessons are done, which is fine with her because she's a love-em-and-leave-em kind of girl. No commitments. But as time goes by, they both realize they've never felt this way before. A bit steamy and yet a sweet story.
His wife sent him an email that stated she was divorcing him because he was bad in bed. Confused, he asked the secretary: What do women want? “A woman wants to be desired.” So he asks her to teach him how to make a woman feel desired. And so the lessons begin.
This is definitely about intimacy and connection. Got breathless innuendos and lust up the whazoo. But what happens when the lessons become serious. A typical, okay romance.
Jordana loves sex. Grady needs lessons in desire. He wants to give his wife everything to get her back. He didn't count on falling in love with Jordana.
He gets an email from his wife saying that she wants a divorce. He is shell-shocked. As he scrambles to make sense of her demand, Jordana offers to help him win his wife back. Jordana and Grady go from work colleagues to sexy tutor and student. The lessons are sexy fantasies, sexting, phone sex, and more. Then there is that list of chick flicks that Jordana gives him to watch... good choices.
"He couldn't say if he'd ever made Darlene crazy. Was it the worst thing to admit that he didn't know? Maybe that's why she left him. Maybe everything she'd said was right. He was clueless. And she was gone. So was phone sex with Jordana actually cheating?"
What was so fun and sexy was how the author allowed the romance to grow with the sexy lessons. Grayson went from a bit of neglectful husband to a hot, passionate, and sexy guy falling for the sexy, fun, adventurous Jordana. The witty banter, the unexpected fun incidents, and the growing desire for each other made this a terrific read for me. This was not an insta-love.
"She'd never wanted anything as much as this. She was a desire junkie, but Grady was now the only drug that work on her."
Then Jordana's worst nightmare happens. Who will Grady choose?
Then there are the secondary characters who pop. Rhonda is the mean boss that constantly tries to get in Jordana's way. I loved that Jordana works hard, is independent, and won't let Rhonda hold her back. I loved that Grady supports Jordana's independence. There is a new work friend, Gloria, who helps and then helps and then confides in Jordana a secret that should lead to book 2. I'm looking forward to that one.
This is a standalone, HEA ending. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review and I loved it so much, I 1-clicked it!
As always, Jennifer Skully has put out another story that you don't want to put down. Grady Masterson, recieved via email, a divorce announcement from his wife. In anger and frustration, he turns to Jordana, an office colleague, after she overhears him call his wife. In an offer to help win his wife back with a not so "vanilla" life, Jordana goes from colleague to sex teacher. Giving him "lessons" he could use to persuade his wife to come back. Grady and Jordana began spending a lot of time together between their "lessons," after-hours outings, and a weekend get-away. After they return from their long weekend away, Darlene pops into the office to discuss the issue of divorce, seeing her mistake in leaving him for "Mr. GQ" (what Grady calls him.) Now, who does he choose?
Co-worker, Gloria confides in Jordana, a secret past with the new hire, Parker. They will be the story in book #2 of the series.
I absolutely loved this book. Its full of steam and witty characters that make it a very easy book to read, and will now be counting down until #2, "Love Affair to Remember," comes out!
I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. Thanks Jennifer!
Great story of two people who have no intention of getting together. He starts out with the intention of winning back his estranged wife and she is just teaching him what women want. No strings attached! What neither realize is that they are what each other really wants. Refreshing that the older hero is less experienced than the younger heroine and they both are alright with that.
