Some scary looking aliens have just boarded Fortuna Tau, our little asteroid mining station. Kordolians, by the looks of things. What the hell do they want with this floating rust bucket? What are they even doing here?
In the grand scheme of things, Earth is a total backwater, and the Solar System is the galactic equivalent of Hicksville. That’s why aliens rarely bother to come to this corner of the universe. And Kordolians are usually too busy conquering the important parts of the nine galaxies to bother with us.
But it looks as if their battle cruiser is broken. Probably shot up in a firefight. They’re going to use every means necessary to fix it, even if it means putting Fortuna Tau on lockdown. I just hope they don’t decide to enslave us and ship us off to some remote alien planet.
Come to think of it, I’ve never seen a Kordolian up close before. They’re huge, with strange, silver skin and pointed ears. They have freaky nano-armor. And they’re packing a serious arsenal. Our human technology has no chance against their weapons.
When I encounter their General, I find him insufferable. Arrogant. Domineering. He won’t tell me anything.
I guess that’s what happens when your race is kicking ass across the nine galaxies. You get pigheaded.
So why do I keep running into him? Why is he looking at me funny? And what’s with this weird feeling I get when he’s around? I really hope these guys fix their ship and go away soon, because I get the feeling they could be major trouble.
Tarak
Sucked into a wormhole during a fierce skirmish with an enemy ship. Spat out near a human mining station in a remote corner of the nine galaxies. Stuck with weak humans who operate with inferior metals and technology. This mission couldn’t get any worse. We need to fix our craft before the wormhole collapses. We need to hunt the cursed Xargek monsters that have infiltrated this human rust-bucket. And these infernal headaches of mine are getting worse. I don’t really care about these humans. Their existence makes no sense to me. All I care about is killing Xargek and getting back to my home planet, Kythia. This situation is tiresome. The light of the star humans call the Sun burns my eyes. I crave Kythia’s darkness. So why has this crazy human female captured my attention? She’s messy, awkward and she babbles nonsense half the time. These humans are crazy. I don’t understand them at all. Especially this female. Why do I keep coming back to her? I need to leave this place before I go insane.
Dark Planet Warriors is a 3-book serial. Each book is an episode of Abbey and Tarak's story, just like a TV series. A new installment will be released every two weeks.
Books in series: Book one: Invasion Book two: Taken Book three: Escape
Due to violence, swearing and steamy sex scenes, these books are recommended for readers aged 18 years and over.
***This book contains the first three Dark Planet Warriors books, Invasion, Taken and Escape (which were originally released as a three-part serial) in one single volume.*** This is my review for the three parts
"Dark Planet Warriors: Invasion" by Anna Carven was a delight to re-read. I just had a compulsion to read this again, something light, easy and fun and it certainly ticked all my boxes. In fact, I think I enjoyed it more this time around. So a brief description of this, We have Abbey a scientist working on space station "Fortuna Tau" when they are boarded by Kordolians large, silver-skinned, pointy-eared hotty warriors. After a serious incident leaves Abbey in a bad way There Big Bad General Tarek whisks Abbey aboard his ship to transport back to Kythia for treatment. The grumpy General soon becomes captivated by the little human and as his own people scheme to take her away from him. Tarek vows to protect his little human mate from all that would wish her harm. this is a lovely tale, the general beneath his gruff exterior has a heart of gold for Abbey, and I loved how Abbey was not one of these seriously stupid girls always doing the reverse of what she was told. She was the opposite of angsty and I found this very refreshing, made such a nice change. So if you're looking for some light reading that's guaranteed to make you smile and also get you a bit hot under the collar. give this a go, it's definitely worth a read. While you don't get a lot of build-up romance (or sex) wise in this book; you do get a clear picture of the setting and people involved. There is enough sexual tension at the end to keep you interested in what happens between Tarak and Abby, but also enough of a storyline outside of them to keep it moving along.
You have a commanding alpha alien and a sarcastic independent heroine. There's also just the right of humour without it being silly and I just know when these two get together it's going to be panty melting.
There's not much of a story, and the characters are constantly thinking about sex. I guess I was expecting a sci-fi romance about a scary alien dude and a human girl falling in love. It's more like thinly veiled porn! I stopped reading really early in the story, so I didn't rate it. Aside from the fact that dirty books aren't my cuppa tea, the writing was amateur.
I'm not a fan of "serial" type reads, but I can rarely pass on a good alien sci-fi romance, so I decided to try it out. This book was ok. It actually felt more like reading a blub then a book, but I suppose that’s to be expected with a serial. Very little occurred throughout the read, but I can see it having potential once released as a complete story. At least its offered as a kindleunlimited.
Dark Planet Warriors: Invasion by Anna Carven was a delight to read.
Humans working on a space station Foruna Tau, find their lives turned upside, when the big bad Kordolians land. Abbey, a scientist working on the space station, has never seen anyone like these warriors, but they are kind of sexy. Large with silver skin, pointy-ears hotty warriors that almost make you want to pee your pants.
Abbey is badly hurt, and the Big Bad General, Tarak, takes her to his home planet, Kythia, for her to heal. Mr Grumpy, aka General, finds himself in a situation that confounds him as his little human soon becomes an obsession. But the Empire wants her for themselves to treat her like a lab rat. Tarak vows she is his and will stop at nothing to protect his mate.
What ensues is mayhem, chaos, action, sexy, sizzling, tension, and much more. If you like sci-fi romance, then look no further.
One of the best alien romance I've read so far. I picked up a few on KU and to be fair, I started them and just dropped them as quickly... Then that happened. It was like being hit by a truck - the whole story is completely different from half of the stories out there! Great characterisation, brilliant plot (believe it or not, the alpha-male sexy hero can mess up too!!) I'm in love. I've stalked to author on Facebook and I can't wait for the next one
Another fun relaxing Alien warrior read that I can't help but enjoy. The author explains how this series is like watching a tv series. She writes and release consistently. I uploaded all three books through KU and am glad I found these little jewels.
I love this genre and I love it even more when the author can surprise me and make it fresh and new and not a just recycle the same old thing; Dark Planet Warriors is that in spades. I especially loved it that this wasn’t an ista-love story. Even though there was attraction it wasn’t an immediate need to mate.
Carven took time and developed the characters and their world to a suburb level. Abby and Tarak’s relationship developed organically. Some of these types of books feel forced Dark Planet Warrior did not.
I am giving Dark Planet Warrior 5 Boundless Stars, I loved it and I have already grabbed book two.
This is the first book in the series and I can't wait to read the next one. The book holds your interest from the first page. I am going to add Anna Carven to my favourite author list. Highly recommend this author and her books.
This was wonderful! Love this author and fun to be back into alien romance again. My only wish is that Abbey had resisted a bit before giving in. It was a little strange that her past relationships didn’t work because she is a commitment-phobe but that never comes up between her and The General even though he moves really fast and kind of takes the decision out of her hands completely. Fun, sexy and full of action. Felt like these two could fill a whole series on their own, and I’m excited to continue with the next one.
This review is for the first book that consists of three parts,"Invasion" being the first part only.
A story of instalove that have been told hundreds of times before. They meet, mutual attraction goes through the roof,he saves heroine and changes everything for her.He is the best of the best, all masculine bossiness and she is feminine incarnate.Don't expect deep, breathtaking story and you will not be disappointed. There is zero originality but it reads easily enough.
This is a lukewarm 2.5. It wasn't bad, it was just okay. There were a couple of moments of potential that made me perk up and think, okay, this could get better, but it didn't. The romance was just boring. The world building could have saved it, but there was no depth. I doubt I'll be continuing this series.
3.5 stars, this was actually pretty good! I haven't read an MF in a while and the female bits threw me but other than that I enjoyed this! Pretty good writing for a short story like this!
Brings your interest into the story right away and keeps you wondering what happens next. Dominant Alien Warrior General meets feisty, determined and outspoken human female, let the conflicting emotions and stubbornness between them begins. I'm enjoying how things are progressing in their story and can't wait to see what happens next. So on to the next addition of their story. Join me in finding out more, for it's a very enjoyable reading.
This was a really good little novella, I just love me some space alien sometimes to break up the monotony of reality. This was also a new author for me and I will say I enjoyed her style of writing.
****If you are a Kindle Unlimited Subscriber this is on the free read list****
3.5 stars Reread it for the second time. Still love it. Glad I already purchased the entire series.
Still annoyed that she roams' around the spaceship after being warned it is not safe to do so... using claustrophobia as her excuse. Then she blamed him for it.
I struggled with how I wanted to rate this because there was quite a lot of things I enjoyed about this book and quite a few I wish we’re done differently so I settle on a 3 star rating.
First the positives. I thought the characters were great and I found a lot of Abbeys inner monologue and name calling quite funny and found myself chuckling out loud at times. I liked the setting of the story and the world building wasn’t to shabby at all. I also like our hero tho I wasn’t enamoured with him like I have been in other alien romances but I really liked how protective he’d become of abbey and how gentle he could be with her. I thought the writing was great and I thought the sex scenes were well written at a nice burn 🔥 🔥 .
Now for my negatives. I found that their wasn’t much romantic building in this it seemed much more of a ‘fall in lust then fall in love story’ and as a personal preference I’m just not really into that as much as I am if it were the other way around. I mean right for the very first pages of the heroine setting eyes on the hero all she ever talked about regarding the hero was how he was hot and sexy and blah blah blah this alien was who was taking over her ship it just seemed un believable to me. The characters physically get together for the first time at about 50% in but they’ve only had a handful of conversations most of which were about how our heroine was displeased with taking him back to his home planet so he could save her life and with that I found it slightly annoying how the heroine was so against him saving her life away from her own people but so willing to have sex with him. And after they got together physically there was no love or really anything other then attraction and lust the heroine even says after the deed “he’s not that bad.really.” Like idk about u but that ain’t love 😂 even at around 80-85% of the way into the book u don’t even know for sure if the hero is into the heroine because he actually wants her for who she is or because he’s in the midst of suffering from ‘mating fever’ long story short there’s no real ‘meant to be’ vibes in this it’s much more physical attachment then it is a connection on a soulful level. The heroine was basically wanting to leave the hero the entire book while also still being attracted to him sexually I just found myself rolling my eyes at that. The last thing that I wish was different was that the hero was more alien, he was basically a big human with grey skin and pointy ears and red eyes, I mean they literally say that humans are extremely close to them genetically tho not as advanced or evolved so I just wish there was that little extra added spice of the aliens being different from them.
Overall personally not my favourite sci-fi romance I’ve ever read but definitely not bad and I am still glad I read this and though I’m not sure if I will continue with the series I definitely see potential in this author and would be more than happy to pick up something else by this author.
**MINOR SPOILERS** This is the first book in a plethora of books, novellas, and at least two spin off series of Dark Planet Warriors. The books were published out of chronological order, so the 4th book of the series should be read next. Tarak is a general in the Kordolian army. He and his warship of super soldiers are attacked just before they enter a wormhole. Because his ship is damaged, they land at a far off (backwater) mining colony so that repairs can be done. Unbeknownst to them, their insect like enemy, the Xargek, has followed them to the mining colony. Abbey works on the mining colony as a scientist in the green space. At first, Tarak and his people consider Humans to be inferior in technology and abilities. But Abbey begins to talk to Tarak and Tarak admires her bravery in some situations (no spoilers). She is attacked by the enemy and Tarak rushes her to his planet in order to help her with her healing. Tarak is honorable and caring for Abbey. He also is quite open about his feelings about her. I really liked him. He is willing to listen to her and take her opinions into account which is amazing considering he is a general and is used to giving orders and that she is Human and the Kordolians did not have much respect for them in the past. Tarak finds out he is beginning a mating fever which seemed a little hopeless as the women on his home planet are dying out. In addition, interspecies relationships are frowned upon. I thought the implications of the Mating Fever could have been brought out more given the imbalance between the numbers of male and female Kordolians. Having read the series, the way the Mating Fever works in this book is different from the way it works in other books. Here, Tarak gets the Mating Fever without a trigger. In later books, it takes exposure to a destined mate to trigger the Mating Fever. The pace of the book is fast. The dialogue is realistic. More detail could have been given about Tarak’s background. It shaped who he was and motivated him to become a leader. Tarak seems young to have become a general. Note: in future books, more of Tarak’s past comes out. Note for some: There are explicit s*x scenes. At the beginning of the book, one of Tarak’s warriors, Rykal, is asked to subdue a sergeant on the station, Arin. A later book features their story. I think it would be nice for the author to include a reference list in the books. Included could be the names of the different male and female main characters, planets mentioned, aliens mentioned, and maybe a few word translations (siv, etc) that the Kordolians use. I already purchased the next book in the series.
I really enjoyed this story. I think there were a few places that could have used improvement, not necessarily with the story but with the narration. The story was amazing. For those of you who have read Anna Zaires' Krinar Trilogy, Mia and Korum's story, you will understand when I say this story kind of felt like what could have been happening with the Krinar before they came to earth. Though, the Krinar liked warmer, tropical weather and the Kordolian came from an ice planet without a sun. Other than that, they were very similar. The main characters of this one, Abbey and Tarak, were interesting. I liked going on this journey with them and look forward to see what happens with the Kordolians/Humans next.
3.15.2023 I don't know what happen to my original review but I do know I enjoyed the book. I've read it a few times but it's been a little while.
I do remember that I enjoyed Abbeys character. She worked in mechanical matenance on a spaceship. She's also a small little think but fearce. When she first meets Tatak she is terrified because of all the stories about his people. But she doesn't back down.
Tatak can't understand his pull to her. He's never felt anything like what he feels to her. In the galaxy he's the biggest and baddest warrior.
This is definitely and adult alien romance so be prepared for that. But it's not so heavy the author forgets the plot.
I seriously cannot understand how people are not hyping these series up!!!! From the first page, I couldn't stop reading and It doesn't help that the plot is based on sexy aliens....
I loved the main characters, it was so fun to read, especially being able to learn about the different races that exist throughout the universe.
It was deliciously entertaining, and this is just the start, the first book in a series.
I'm thrilled to discover more about the other characters in the next book's!!
PD: you will love this if you enjoyed Iced Planet Barbarians, but in this case, with more technology and with silver aliens.
“Crazy human. She will be a fine mother to our child. My female is insane and I am completely and utterly obsessed with her.” F**k me—I love this dude. This is exactly how I want my partner to think of me. Is that really so much to ask?
I was already enjoying the story, but that line? That line bumped it up a whole half star. Absolute gold.
Mind you, the MFC still hasn’t realized they’re biologically compatible—despite all the, uh, extracurricular activities they’ve been doing. But I’ll let it slide because this was fun, spicy, and just the right amount of chaotic.
