What do you do when you’re fake-dating the one guy you really want?
An Humanities major with an empty wallet ...
Keith wants a fake boyfriend … just long enough to trick some cash out of a research study. But when the cutie he barely knows volunteers for the job, it's hard to remember they’re just pretending.
A hot science geek with a secret ...
Ben has been crushing on Keith from a distance, so he jumps at the chance to not-really-date him. But when they start spending time together, the feelings he develops for his pseudo-boyfriend are all too genuine.
Fake dates … but a real deadline
Their friends think the whole thing is hilarious -- but Keith and Ben aren’t amused by their relationship limbo. Can they figure out what’s going on between them before the study ends, or will they be stuck pretending to be just friends?

One of the worst book I've read in a long while: juvenile and nonsensical, with no plot or character development.
The story is told in alternating first-person POV, but Keith and Ben are basically the same person. They bitch about their classes and eat meals in the cafeteria. The secondary characters have no personalities. The ending is abrupt and silly.
Oooh, this college boy novella from a new-to-me author was fun, fun, fun!! Charming, sexy and just really lovely, although sadly a bit short :(
Both, Keith and Ben are super likeable and they've got such a lovely chemistry. I would've liked a bit more depth to the characters and a longer novel where we could get to know the boys better.
Um, and yeah, they probably could've gotten things sorted out faster by actually talking to each other... silly boys!
Lots of potential not realised. More should've been made about the survey - I was expecting the question to be the basis of how the relationship was shaped.....also frustrated that there is no info about the questions asked! Too much detail on meal times when they didn't really provide anything more than a lot of miscommunication....
A sweet little read. Ben and Keith agree to be 'test subjects' for the psychological department at the University in exchange for cash. The deal is they pretend to be boyfriends for two weeks and go their separate ways afterwards.
Well, as expected it's not quite so simple. The boys develop feelings for each other outside the experiment but neither one is quite brave enough to admit it.
This was very gentle and sweet in every way, I enjoyed it quite a bit. Only criticism I have is that this was more like a short story than a whole book - there certainly would have been enough material for more.
Keith and Ben have been crushing on each other for a long time, but they never really talked. They have friends in common and sometime they eat at the same table in the cafeteria, but they only have exchanged few words. They are happy of pining from afar till one day Keith reads that a research study is asking couples some questions and gives money for their answer. Keith needs money so he asks to his friends if someone wants to help him. Ben that was listening replies that he too wants the money and will help him. At start the boys are awkward with each other, since they dont really know how they should act. They think that this fake-boyfriend relationship will need to last only for 2 hours and then when they will have the money all will go back as it was before, but when the researcher tells them that he'd like for them to come back also the next week and do the same, always for money, they both agree.
It takes a bit of time for them to understand that their feelings are mutual and we see some angst all the time Ben or Keith are thinking and believe that this relationship is soon going to end. They share some kisses and the day before they need to go to the researcher they also make love. For both of them is more than sex. They have had previous relationships but nothing was like this, nothing felt so right.
When monday comes and they go to get their money, Ben uses some words that make Keith believe what was btw them is ending. Keith is hurt and replies to those words faking indifference and without knowing he hurts Ben.
They are both idiots, they dont talk and for this they misunderstand.
For 5 days they dont see each other, mostly because Ben is avoiding Keith after what he said. In the end is Keith to go to Ben and ask him why he is being avoided. They finally talk and understand that the words they said werent about their relationship but both ment about the research thing.
They are finaly a couple and they make love again this time knowing for sure that their feelings are mutual.
The books wasnt bad, but was really short and I wanted to see more of Ben and Keith together. The time when they went out together to fake date in case the researcher asked them something about their lives together, was fun and cute but we needed more moments like that to make us understand how they really felt for each other. 3.5 stars bcs they were cute.

Not one of my favorites. As someone who has participated in and relied on the validity of those studies, I didn't like how casual the lies were treated in order to earn a little money.
And WTF was the study focusing on in the first place? That's all I could think about. I absolutely hate that we never find out. Not even an epilogue or a *wink* to it define its purpose. Ugh, never read a short/novella with a major plot aspect something you know (or care) too much about because it will pull you right out of the fantasy.
The characters weren't terribly engaging either. I didn't like them very much at all, even if I did like the idea of a "fake boyfriend" for some other purpose (e.g.: To fend off an unwanted suitor, to pacify a nosy parent, that kind of thing...those I'm good with).
Why do I keep torturing myself with the author's titles? There's always a sense of unfulfilled potential...
The developing relationship between Keith and Ben starts with Keith needing money and learning about a paid study...for couples. He asks his group of friends and Ben, someone he doesn't really know, offers to be his boyfriend. When they decide to go out as a couple so they could answer the questions more easily, they become more and more attracted to each other. When the survey suddenly ends, they don't know where they stand, but they soon realize they love each other. It's a sweet story and I really enjoyed it!!
Ben and Keith are casual acquaintances who end up pretending to be boyfriends to earn some extra cash for a psych study.
The two are awkward and I just don't feel the chemistry between the two of them. The dance around what is really happening as the two of start to hang out - just wasn't believable to me. The story was a great idea, it just fell a little flat for me.
The book was missing the raw need for me. Also, for some reason I couldn't remember which MC was which. I don't know if I would actually recommend the story to anyone in particular but if you want a quick cutesy college story then go for it. The actual writing was good just lacking a spark.
This is a nice short story about two college friends who decide to pretend to be in a relationship in order to make some money. The fact is, the both secretly like each other but keep getting confused and misreading the others behaviour, convincing themselves that what they feel is one-sided. Thankfully they get their act together in the end.
Not enough character development, the relationship never felt true. You didn't get to know the characters and what made them tick. The main characters didn't convey what it was about each other than they liked so much, apart from sex. Sorry but because of the above, I was just left feeling a little bored.
Reading this book was a little difficult. Some parts I didn't understand what they were talking about and some parts didn't make any sense. However, I did finish it and it was an okay book. I liked the basics of the storyline but felt it was under developed.
This was a very short book with a cute premise. It was pretty irritating with all of the miscommunication. There was quite a bit of story missing. Like any of their back story. Just okay, not great.
Sexy read that did a good job showing characters who were afraid to express their vulnerability. Were they dating? Were they hooking up? Was it all just for appearances' sake? Lots of heat between these two!
Quick read. They both like each other and don't know how the other feels. This story is rather accurate for the age group of the characters. You want to tell them to man up and talk to each other, but it is so normal for that age to be scared of rejection.
