EIGHT MONTHSIN PRISON –NO BLANKETS, NO HEAT, NO BEDAND ONE MEAL A DAY –WAS THE PUNISHMENT FOR…A TRAITOR TO ISLAMI am absolutely thrilled about Daniel Massieh’s new book Traitor. This is a story that reads like it is the book of acts! Daniel has lived the gospel, and experienced in his own life the resurrection power of our savior Jesus Christ. Every believer should read this book for encouragement to share their faith with boldness to our Muslim friends and neighbors. You will love it! Ray BentleySenior Pastor, Maranatha Chapel Daniel Massieh became a believer in Jesus Christ in 1979 while still living in Egypt. In Traitor, Daniel chronicles God’s amazing grace in his life and tells how God led him from a devout Muslim family, with many ties to Egypt’s persecuted, labeled a traitor to Islam, and imprisoned under unbelievable harsh conditions. Traitor will inspire you to love Muslims and will give you a deeper understanding of what Muslims believe and how to effectively share Christ with them. Though written with compassion, Traitor answers some critical concern “Does Muhammad have the credentials of a true prophet?” and “What is Islam’s heaven like?” A must read for all who want to be vessels of mercy in our present world. This book, written in the first person, recounts the extraordinarily remarkable journey of one man, born Mohammed Kamel, now legally and officially renamed Daniel Massieh. In a similar way to that in which many atheists have set out to disprove and discredit Christianity and, in the process came to faith in Christ, Daniel set out initially to mock and dismiss Christians and the Christian faith in his native Egypt but on the way encountered the risen Christ personally, changing his heart and mind utterly. The first half of the book details his dealings with Egyptian Christians, an evangelical church in Cairo, his conversion and subsequent persecution, including psychological and physical torture at the hands of the Egyptian authorities. His endurance and delivery from such barbaric treatment and isolation is of such a scale it can only be described as miraculous. His narration is both sincere, heart-breaking, heart-warming and entertaining. After his conversion and release from solitary confinement, evidence of God directing his life is chronicled in divine dreams, healings and even in a person being raised from the dead. In as much as the first part of the book, the testimony of Daniel's conversion, is an encouragement to Christian believers, and those who would uphold freedom of religion and belief in parts of the world where this is denied, the second part, searching and profound questions on Islam, is a challenge to Muslims. In this section he exposes the false claims he was indoctrinated into believing, skillfully weaving Biblical, Qu'ranic and indeed secular sources into his argument and reasoning, to leave the reader in no doubt about the veracity of his own claims. The result is a very compelling read. Sources are meticulously listed and the bibliography draws on a wide range of scholars, muslim and otherwise. This is a gripping read.
