I’ve got a particular type of poison...

He thinks I’m his forever girl, I saw it in his eyes. I wished I could have slapped the look off his face with the same jarring finality that I’d learned I didn’t mean shit.

I’m not a forever sort of girl.

I’m not even his for the night.

He’ll be lucky if I’m his for the next hour if he doesn’t pay me for it.

And then Royce Mattherson stormed my defenses. Took all the poison inside of me and pushed it out through my pores. He tasted the taint on my skin and still decided to love me. He terrifies me. Exhilarates me. Frustrates me.

And he always gets what he wants

LeTeisha Newton

Writing professionally since 2008, LeTeisha Newton’s love of romance novels began long before it should have. After spending years sneaking reads from her grandmother’s stash, she finally decided to pen her own tales. As many will do during their youth, she bounced from fantasy, urban literature, mainstream, interracial, paranormal, heterosexual, and LGBT works until she finally rested in contemporary romance.

LeTeisha is all about deep angst and angry heroes who take a bit more loving to smooth their rough edges. Love comes in many sizes, shapes, and colors, as well as with—or without—absolute beauty and fairy tale sweetness. She writes the darker tales because life is hard … but love is harder.

ARC kindly provided in exchange for an honest review.
This was a very unique book. I loved every minute of it. I loved how realistic it was and I loved the heroine's strength.
Celeste Askew is an escort. She does what she likes to do and she gets paid for it. During the day she has a regular office job, but during the night she dives deep into decadence.
When she meets Royce Mattherson her world changes. He is wealthy, handsome and he makes it obvious that he has never, and will never, paid for sex. He simply wants something pretty on his arm and Celeste is paid handsomely to be seen with him for one night.

"You do your job well," he whispered in my ear.
His voice was low, seductive, and authoritative."But I don't pay for kicks."

Celeste finds herself unexpectably hurt by his behavior but she knows how to hide it well. She cannot help but notice how well he carries himself and that bothers her to no end.

He was composed. He was a man I could have liked.

Royce is surprisingly attracted to his beautiful escort and he does something that he cannot believe himself. He wants her for one week and he will compensate her well for her services.
Both characters find themselves both wanting and hating their arrangement.

I could take his money, revel in his sex, and be on my way. No harm, no foul.

When Royce finds out Celeste's big secret he has the inexplicable urge to fix her, mend her broken pieces, but at the same time he wants to keep his distance.

I didn't ride a white horse and I wasn't interested in saving some damsel in distress. You wanted my assistance, you clawed your way to it.

There are themes of abuse in the book. The heroine has suffered in the past and those experiences have mapped out who she is now. Her family certainly hasn't helped her and I loved how the author showed us how they destroyed Celeste's heart.
The chemistry between our two main characters is explosive and I think this book will pull on your heart strings. Do not miss it!

Whatever you think you know about LeTeisha Newton....forget it! With One Hour Girl (Lost Series, #1) she has set a new standard for herself and her readers. We already know that LeTeisha is mistress of romance and erotica, shifter and paranormal. This book however takes on subject matter with more meat than we've seen from LeTeisha to this point, and she's letting us know she has the teeth to do the damn thing!

LeTeisha continues to deliver the hot and steamy erotica that we will be forever grateful for, but she also gives something more, much more. One minute you'll be fanning yourself, or whatever you choose to do with yourself, but the next minute she will have you shedding tears.

Honestly, I think that this is the first book written by Newton that goes beyond the romance/erotica genre. As a writer, she is blossoming, evolving. One Hour Girl is definitely a turning point, one that you will hate yourself for if your miss it.

I don't do spoilers, but what I can tell you is that One Hour Girl needs to be at the very top of your #TBRList

I would class this as an refreshing read. One of those reads when you are in a book funk, and you come across a read that just pulls you out of it. A well written read, that is flawless perfection on each page.

Celeste has gone through horrific events as a child and when she told her parents, her world shattered as no one believed her. Being blamed for her parents break up and having a sister leech of her, has mad her turn into the person she is today.

A normal woman during the day and a high class call girl at night, Celeste uses sex as a way of coping, never getting attached to any man. That is until Royce shatters through her perfectly built walls.

Royce is a man that is striving to rectify what he feels he is to blame for as a child. He feels that he never protected his mother as he should of. His heart has died with his mother and he feels that he will never love again until he met Celeste.

This story reminds you of a popular film but LeTieisha has made it her own, it was a fantastic read.

This is an interracial story (BW/WM). This is Royce and Celeste's story.

I am not even sure I have the vocabulary to express how good this book was, in my opinion. This story had me riveted to my seat and I read the book in one sitting. The story of how two broken people saved each other through love. I absolutely loved how Royce was there to catch Celeste every time she fell and refused to allow her to chase him off.

I wanted to give Pam and Celeste's mother the beat-down of their lives. Pam should have been Celeste's rock not her enemy.

This was a FANTASTIC story. I would highly recommended it.

This is a really great well written story. The storyline reminded me of a popular movie that I've watched loads of times. I felt as if that added to the story. In my head it was familiar but the author wrote it in her own way.

Celeste and Royce are both broken characters. Celeste story is heartbreaking. I was so hoping she would find happiness. Can Royce break down her walls?

LeTeisha Newton is a new author to me. I've got to say I loved this story and read it in one sitting. I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.

This is my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it. It deals with some difficult subject matters that some may find difficult to read but it is tastefully addressed.

At night, Celeste is a high end escort that demands and receives big money for her services with one restriction, her clients only get her for 60 minutes. By day she is a respectable paralegal assistant. However, when Celeste agrees to do an event she encounters Royce Mattherson, a powerful figure that always gets what he wants and he wants Celeste.

Royce sees something in Celeste that he isn’t sure he understands and he quickly becomes interested in finding out what it is about the escort girl that has captured his interest. As the two start to peel away each other’s layers we learn more about Celeste and the life she has endured and Royce is determined to see that she gets some justice. And along the way they come to realise that there is something more between them but will Celeste learn to trust Royce?

It was so frustrating to read the scenes between Celeste and her sister as I really wanted to do her sister some harm. Celeste has done her best to work her way out of the ghetto home of her mother and turn her life around but her sister and mother were leeches blaming her for the wrongs in their lives and making her pay. I literally fist pumped the air when Celeste finally stands up to them.

I enjoyed this book but found the writing a little stilted to start with so it took me some time to get into the story.

From fairy tales brought to life to the pain and suffering of a stolen childhood that is hidden under lock and key, LeTeisha Newton manages to steal my breath each and every time I open one of her novels. It's difficult to put into words just how profound the story of One Hour Girl touched me - the emotions, the characters - Celeste, a lawyer by day and an escort by night, and Royce, a man fighting his own demons from his past, and the gripping storyline that had me continuously wonder and question whether or not I'd be able to keep reading: but I did only because it was so poignant and breathtaking. On their unconventional meeting, Celeste and Royce soon realize that they've both been hurt by their past to a point that it has made them untrustful in their adult life - as a lawyer Celeste is an escort who gets paid by the hour and never lets emotions run the show in her 'business deals' but when Royce becomes her client, his past makes him want to protect her, help her heal from the pain that was stopping her from opening her heart to let anyone in. I've mentioned it earlier - the emotional rollercoaster pulled me in and had me on the edge of my seat, anxious and constantly questioning my decision on continuing to read as I wiped the escaping tears one minute, smiled the next and then fanned myself as Celeste and Royce finally stopped denying their attraction for another. LeTeisha Newton is one author that has thoroughly surprised me with One Hour Girl - I had had a chance to read the Happily Never Happened series, a twist on some of my favorite fairy tales, but One Hour Girl was entirely different and showed me just how diverse she could be.

This is a review of One Hour Girl by LeTeisha Newton on behalf of A Book Lovers Emporium. 5 stars.

I enjoyed this book so very much. This is a story about despair, hope, love and romance at its absolute best. Superbly written the story was a good solid one, it reminded me of Pretty Woman in a way. Celeste is a Lawyer by day and an high class escort by night, mainly because she chose to give her body to strangers for money but also of the deep seated experiences she suffered as a child that rocked her whole world that has left an ever-lasting hole, deep within her soul.
She doesn't believe in love and thinks of herself as not worthy, she feels she is ugly to herself and the world. When Royce Mattherson enters her life she doesn't expect to have the feelings she does for this beautiful strong man, that has bought some much needed "light" back into her world, He is determined, extremely rich and he likes and most often gets his own way; and he want's Celeste !! Royce has secrets from his past too, and can read Celeste like a book, but will he be the one to light the path to salvation?
I loved both characters and found them easy to connect to, the chemistry they shared flowed from the pages easily. The only point I would pick up on is that I felt that the subject matter this book dealt with could have been brought out more in the story, and the perpetrator much more involved, but that is just in my opinion and it didn't spoil the book for me at all. Loved what this author has written and I will be reading her books in the future. A thoroughly recommended read, that is not to be missed.

Royce is a wealthy guy who is used to getting what he wants. He has a past that was not pretty and because of it he has the overwhelming need to fix people. Celeste has two lives. By day is she has a normal job but at night she's a high class escort. She's has a rough past and uses sex and danger as her therapy. Celeste is Royce's date for an hour. There is chemistry between them. Royce takes a liking to her. Is she just his next project to fix or is there more there? As they slowly break down each others walls, we get to see how they really are. I was surprised by Celeste's past but even more surprised by Royce's past because he seemed so put together that I didn't think he had anything but a great childhood. This is a great story about two broken souls finding each other.

"Love didn’t exist for girls like me. We were filthy and disgusting. We were broken and dysfunctional at best. But Royce kissed me like I was perfect. Like I was some dusty porcelain doll that just needed a little care to shine again."

One Hour Girl was a good story about overcoming your past and believing in your future. I really liked Royce, and I loved that no matter what, he was always on Celeste's side. Royce and Celeste were both broken, but together they became whole. The love they shared was one they never saw coming. One of my favorite parts was when Royce said...

"Tell me your fears, what makes you want to keep going. Give me your burdens and I’ll help you carry them.”

Royce really was the perfect guy. And I'm really happy that everything worked out in the end!

Celeste and Royce meet in a way that is anything but typical. They have both found a way to be content in their lives, even if they aren't exactly happy. When Royce discovers that there is more to Celeste than first meets the eye and that the "more" may be an aspect of their lives that they have in common, it's impossible for him to stay away. Royce is very much an alpha male in this book, but without the tendency to act like a jerk like so many alpha characters tend to do. Everything he does is always with the best intentions and his actions help both he and Celeste find part of themselves that had been buried for years. This book shows that happiness isn't always easy to find, but even the people who feel that they don't deserve it can get a chance to find it….if they are strong enough and tough enough to take that chance!

One Hour Girl was a great paced book. The story of Celeste and what leads her to be a one hour girl is heartbreaking, but Royce fights to break down her walls and wants more than just that one hour.

As money is no factor to him, his quick to
Win his way over and make Celeste his for longer and in turns breaks down both of there walls.

With some scorching moments to heat up your kindle, one hour girl is a story worth reading

This was a tough read and I had to take breaks at times. It deals with child sexual abuse, domestic violence witnessed by a child and how both affected the main characters. It deals with bloodsucking toxic relatives who won't let up.

Celeste and Royce were a good match. Royce was her protector and the one who kept the faith in their relationship. Celeste was damaged (understandably so). Her mother knew what had happened to her and basically didn't do anything about it and her father left the family which her sister blamed her for. To cope, Celeste turned to escorting which is how she met Royce.

I would have rated this book 5 stars but the ending with Pam pissed me off. This woman terrorized Celeste, her younger sister to no end for money while degrading her. Celeste lost several jobs because of her. Celeste being an escort came out because Pam sold the news to the press then went to her workplace and outed her. Celeste finally beat her ass. Pam retracted the statements because she was promised money. And then, after all this, Pam is working at the nonprofit Life After Child Abuse organization that Royce and Celeste open up and it comes out that she too was abused by the same man as Celeste. Pam was acting the way she did because she was jealous she didn't have the strength Celeste did to speak out. The way it was thrown out was random and it felt like it was almost meant to excuse Pam's behavior. So her being a sexual abuse survivor means it's okay that she cost her sister jobs and sucked her dry at times for money? Nah, fuck that. Celeste had forgiven her because of course she did. While Royce still can't stand Pam which I totally agree with.

Long story short, I hate the trope of black woman becoming amicable with people who bully, terrorize, degrade and abuse them the way Pam did. It would've been much better had Celeste forgiven Pam but cut all ties. Instead, we got that ending with Pam rubbing Celeste's pregnant belly. SMDH

Celeste isn’t the average girl; she’s been hurt, torn down, and only thought of herself good enough for one thing. She was excited by the dangers of what she was doing and she didn’t really care so long as it too her away from her reality. She never believed in love and never thought she deserved anyone’s love. My heart hurt for this woman because you could feel the emotions she was trying to hide. You could feel she thought she deserved whatever happened to her because of what she put her family through.

Royce was a man she met at a party she was to be a part of for an hour, at least that’s what, was recommended of her. Royce was a man with money who you could tell was more than his money but he also believed he didn’t have love to give. He was steamy and he had this demanding way about him that was SO sexy!

One Hour Girl was hot, steamy, and exciting all the way through! Celeste went through some awful things, as did Royce, and for them finding happiness seemed impossible. I felt their pain as the book went on and I felt pride in Celeste during a certain part with her sister you definitely need to read! One Hour Girl had very difficult topics to read about but in the end I was overwhelmed with the joy of reading this book! An awesome 5 star read, One Hour Girl by LeTeisha Newton!

I wasn't exactly sure how I was going to feel about this story, as it's the first time I've read this author, but it blew me away! LOVED LOVED LOVED IT! Celeste had something bad happen, that nightmares are made of, to her when she was younger. When she finds the courage to tell the truth, not even her family or the police, believe her. It destroys her, and now she's become a call girl at night to chase the demons away. She's hired by Royce Mattherson, for an hour, and she quickly realizes he could get past her walls, plus he just pisses her off. Royce has his own demons that he's fighting, but something about Celeste makes him desperate to make her his, and he always gets what he wants.

WOW! The emotional feels of this story made it hard for me to breathe more than once. The character development is great, with an emotionally intense, and well written storyline that flows smoothly. The SCORCHIN' HOT sexy scene gave me more than one hot flash, and the OMG twists had my heart racing cover to cover. LeTeisha Newton's easy writing style kept me captivated throughout the whole story, and I CANNOT WAIT to read more of this series! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

What can I say about this book....It was excellent! I've read a couple books by LeTeisha Newton but by far this is her best work. One hour girl is about two broken people, Celeste and Royce, who believe they are not capable of love due to abuse from their past. I must say this is one of the first books I've read that dealt with the psychological trauma that abuse survivors deal with along with the guilt they feel towards their family. Not only did Celeste have to deal with the trauma from her past but also her family...and her family was a mess. But when Celeste meets her forever man in Royce the sparks fly. Royce is the man that every woman wants to meet and marry. It wasn't anything he wouldn't do for her. By helping Celeste he was able to heal from his own childhood demons. I can't wait to read the next book in this series. I hope we will still get to catch up with Celeste and Royce and learn some more of her sister Pam's story.

I’m in love! I’m in love! I’m in love with Newton’s writing! I really needed this story. Good ole delicious drama with all the feels!

Celeste has been through the worst of the worst. And what’s worst? She had zero family support! But what doesn’t kill you will only make you stronger. Cel is friggin beast! A very beautiful, strong, and powerful woman. She plays men like a string quartet...with little or no effort! Well until Royce.

Royce flip, turnaround, and multiply Cel! Newton NAILED the intensity, the denial, and the HEAT between the two polar opposites! Each interaction between Cel and Royce sizzles so HAWT! OHG has the perfect combo of darkness and redemption! I am IN LOVE with this story!

Five AH-MAZING STARS!

This is my first book by this author and it was an intriguing read for me. I love stories that deal with real life issues in the context of a relationship between two broken characters.

This is Celeste and Royce's story who both had traumatic upbringing. She a victim of sexual abuse and emotionally absent parents. He, who witnessed the domestic violence his mother endured at the hands of his father.

The author has done an excellent job of taking us through the character's triumphs and their lows. At the end of the story, they soared and found their HEA. I strongly recommend this book.

Wow, this was good. It hit on some serious issues going on in the world today. There are so many people in this world that have been a victim of some type of abuse. Loved that these two people found each other. I really wanted to hurt a few of her family members. Who would not believe their on child, is beyond me. I am a Mom of 7 year old twins and I started to talking early about touching. Never worry about telling me anything, I will be there. I was a victim as well as others in my family. There will not be a repeat for them, if I can help it.

FOUR Stars- I received an ARC for an honest review of One Hour Girl (Lost Series, #1) by LeTeisha Newton

Such a good read! This book had not one but two strong main characters who do everything in their power not to fall for one another. Both have been harmed by their pasts and are to head strong/stubborn to cave to the other. But together, just maybe they can save one another? I can't wait to read more from the Lost Series.

One Hour Girl by LeTeisha Newton is a well-constructed novel that is both harrowing and uplifting at the same time. Celeste lives a double life; by day she is a well-respected professional working in a law office; by night she is a professional of a different caliber. Celeste uses her nighttime activities as a way of coping with her childhood trauma. She is floundering, punishing herself while living a life of unimaginable promiscuity. Royce Mattherson meets Celeste during her nighttime activities but soon finds that he wants to walk in the daylight with her. They are both carrying enormous burdens from their past, will their weighty drama and emotional baggage topple any hope they have for a future together? Royce was so supportive and loving as he helped Celeste put the pieces of her stolen life back together. Celeste was heartbreaking, just held together with determination and grit. Indeed, some parts of this story were hard to digest so be sure to check the trigger warnings. I enjoyed the flow of the story and the surprises that unfolded. I was not expecting the redemptive arc for some of the characters!

This book was very emotional but wonderful at the same time. Celeste is a young woman who considers herself as a “One Hour Girl”. She works as an Escort. She has a regular 9 to 5 job during the day but by night she works as an escort.

In the story you find out that Celeste was raped by a guy that tutored her. It didn’t seem that law enforcement believed her. While working as an escort she meets a guy named Royce Mattherson. He has money and he has issues of his own. He fights for cases in domestic violence because of his past childhood.

He hires Celeste and he ends up wanting Celeste as his forever girl. Celeste has always felt that she was only good for one thing which is SEX. She always felt that she was dirty and broken. Royce comes along and challenges her to open up. I really liked Royce and Celeste together as a couple. This book was hard to put down. It kept me reading from the very first page. I was sad to get to the end.

This is the third book I've read by this author and I really liked it. The storyline was interesting, the main characters both flawed due to issues in their pasts. At times, I found this book a bit "choppy", more so than the other books I've read by this author, but not enough to deter me from reading. I still love the way this author's writing seems to just flow through the story from one scene to the next. Her characters are well-developed and the storyline is interesting, never failing to keep my attention. Definitely two thumbs up from me for this one. Grab it and enjoy!
