John is in the hands of the Russian military as the conflict escalates. His only hope is to escape as those he loves are threatened by nuclear attacks. When a new Russian plot is revealed, the survivors must battle to save the last vestiges of humanity from final annihilation.

I keep waiting for this series to jump the shark, but after eleven books it's still going strong for me. I like the way the original zombie apocalypse scenario keeps morphing into new and interesting areas of the continuing saga, and never disappoints. It was sad to lose a one of the main characters, but I knew something had to give when it came to John's love affair with Rachel and his wife Katie. It would have been sad regardless of which one had to go, but at least now the focus on one relationship can be total. It seems the war with Russia has reached a bit of a stalemate, with both sides in ruin, and revenge on John's mind for the Russian president. Still a very good series, and highly recommended to anyone fond of the zombie genre.
What a great series! The first couple had my eyes rolling a bit because it was a little condescending towards women and I didn't like the term bitches regarding the infected. But, soon got over it and really enjoyed this author's story. So descriptive that I could visualize being right there. I am hoping to find more of his writing and beware, once you start this series, forget about any outside life, because you won't be able to put it down before you have read all of them.
There is increasing disillusion among the Russian military, many of whom are now questioning what they were told when the war was initiated.... but belief in their country prevents rebellion. And the focus of Major Chase and his allies has become reaching and executing the Russian madman who caused the EOW ( end of the world).... Next stop Australia where the cause of the destruction resides now in safety and luxury... or so they believe....
Kirk Patton has another hit on his hands. This next book in the series is really good. The protagonist, John, is a likeable man who is honest, courageous, and in love with two women during the end of the world as we know it. The female infected are getting smarter by the minute, and the adventures and assignments that John is thrown into are bloodcurdling and intense. I highly recommend this book.
It is disturbing to lose characters you've come to appreciate sand also to wonder when and if some others you really liked will be revisited. Patton has a uhque ability to grow the characters in your heart or make you really want to see get their just rewards!
The ending on this one!!!! Dirk, you made me laugh, hurt, get angry, feel hopeful, feel hopeless and lastly, cry. But tears quickly turned to a smile with the final words of the last chapter. Let's go kick some A$$!!!
Great book, very enjoyable and can really get into the characters. Biggest problem like always seems to be narration, it's not as bad as it used to be, but it's very monotone so it can be really hard to understand then one sentence ends or something else behinds.
Merciless is exactly that. It perfectly describes the book, and the way Mr. Patton leaves us at the end. He is merciless with us. I can't say more without giving anything away, and I just won't do that.
If you're reading this, you know how amazing these books are. You know you're going to be left with a cliffhanger. You know the adventure you're in for. Except you only think you do. This time around, the bar has been raised even higher. The action is more intense, the events are more important. The highs will make you laugh with joy and the lows will bring you to your knees.
Mr. Patton has outdone himself, and left us with one of the most amazing, thrilling, moving, exciting, heart-wrenching books I can recall reading, ever.
We knew when we started reading these books that it would be a hell of a journey. I think we just reached hell.
I love this series. I'm a huge fan of the genre- and of well-developed characters. If you haven't read the first 10 in the series, do that first- you'll thank me for it. I started reading the series almost a year ago, and devoured the latest installment in a day and a half. Reading about the adventures of John, Rachel, Dog & crew- it's like coming home. In that, I mean that the characters are so well developed by this point, they feel like friends. This book wrapped up some storylines I felt were played out (no spoilers!) and introduced us to a couple new characters, while remaining centered on our beloved group. The only caveat to my love for this installment is that one or two things were not as realistic as previous books. Buuuut I choose to believe that John Chase is like Jack Bauer- he can do anything!
I waited a long time for this episode, it seems. 5 stars because after 11 books in this series, the author still manages to create a great story line. The writing is good as well as the editing. For an independent writer, Dirk has really shown excellent improvement. I do so very much hope the story will go on. But I do think it's time to end this tale with a bang. I was surprised how this book ends. This tale deserves a hell of a send off. If you're one of many fans of Zombie Apocalypse I hope you understand what I've written here. A great story should have a great ending. Something with twists and turns and excitement. It's time to put this baby to sleep.
Don't care if it's a spoiler - Dog makes it all the way to the end!
Well, I have to say this was a pretty darn satisfying read to conclude this series. It seems like there will be a continuation in this world with the book 36. It was a pretty wild ride but recommend it for anyone who is a fan of dystopian novels. This is definitely not a romance series although there is a little through out. It was written as serial and there were a couple of brutal cliff hangers. All books are now out and the books are all on KU so it is a cheap read for many.
So John's wife died, good for Rachel, she can have her man now, maybe.
John had to go through some stuff in this book, sometimes his feats are super hero like. When he jumps out of a plan and catches the pilot, really? But its okay he did it once 20 years ago on a bet.
I'm go into read the next one because I want those damn Russians to pay, and I want to make sure Jessica's career is okay.
Oh my, you have done it again. This episode, that's how I think of them, was emotionally grabbing. I did not expect this. Without giving anything away, I will say this is probably the best you have written and with the tie in to "36", which I will read again now, leaves so many avenues to travel down. I can't wait for the next, HURRY!!!
I could read 20 more books in this series. The author manages to make our heroes real people, with real faults that you care about. The main characters don't kill everyone with a 1000 meter headshot, or dodge every punch, that's what makes them real and you care, but you sure do want them and their faults on your team.
This series is beyond awesome, you know a book is a good read when you read it in a day. Couldn't put it down and was totally blown away by the ending. Love how the book isn't crazy military jargon, I was in the Army and while I like the info sometimes, some authors can go overboard. Mr. Patton understands moderation.
And I don't. Not for a minute. A virus that makes people into super zombies? C'mon, now. But I've read every one of these books, and really enjoyed them all. I'm ready for the next one, or whatever it is this guy comes up with next. Realistic? Hardly. Entertaining? Hell, yeah.
The V Plague series is an interesting read, if you like zombies and military themes. The hero is not an every day guy, he's pretty much a superman. If you're good with those parameters, you may enjoy this series. Caution - as of this writing in August 2016, there are 12 books and the series isn't over yet.
I hope this is not the end. Hands down my favorite series ever. Normally when a series comes to an end the last book is very weak but this book ended liked I hoped it would. Loved it
A brutally wonderful addition to the 'V Plague' series. Mr. Patton has kept up the action (from the tenth book, 'Anvil) and continued at a frantic pace! I'm looking forward to even more of this series. But if you haven't started yet, get going! Start with the first book immediately!
Does this guy get any sleep? By the way it's the 11 book and I can h hardly wait for 12. What does Athena 36 have in common .I s it written in the same worldly?
Awesome as always!!!! Please please please let there be a 12
This is one of the best series some other REALLY good ones Blue plague ,the Sovereign spirit saga, Slowburn, White flag of the dead... And please recommend some to me I need another good one at least four stars please
My heart never stopped racing while reading this book. I absolutely love The VooDoo Plague series. I do hope this series is made into a TV Series. It will be a huge success. Patiently looking forward to Book 12
Overall a fun series ... how can you help but love a kick ass main character who has the perfect wife and a stripper girlfriend with a heart of god. This was one of the stronger entries in the series.
I love these books, hold on tight with every page. This one in particular was a little closer to the heart than the previous. But all the same, it had just enough action to keep me reading. Cannot wait for the next, also excited for what evolves from 36.
Love Dirk patten I've read all of this series and each book keeps getting better. The twists and turns I. The plot are enough that you never can expect what hgaspperns next read the first ten books first or thou will be lost.
This book was not as exciting as the others and was more to reconnect some characters and wrap up story lines. I was shocked a bit by the ending, and sad yes, but it should also help to move the story along.
