Cass Harper has given up on her romantic ideal. She has secretly longed for a man who enjoys her company, respects her intellect, thinks she is beautiful, and is prepared to spank her bottom scarlet when he thinks she needs it. All that has gotten her is heartbreak.

When learning of her ex-fiancé's plans to use her money to take his new love to Paris, Cass has had enough. An invitation from an online fan has her deciding that it is about time to pull her big- girl panties up and step outside her comfort zone. Stunning photos of the Alaskan wilderness promise her an adventure; the prospect of meeting the considerate and strong Killian Nelson, owner of Slick Trench Outfitters, offers her far more.

All Cass needs to do is overcome a few obstacles... such as reclaiming her livelihood from her carbophobic ex-fiancé who has hijacked her food blog, convince herself that Killian's gorgeous ex-girlfriend isn't competition, find a missing elderly friend—and, as if that's not enough, she also needs to stay away from the bears and wolves that call Alaska home.

Only after Cass begins to recognize her own worth is she able to build the life she has dreamed of. Oh, but remember those big-girl panties she's pulled up? What will her reaction be when she learns that naughty girls find their panties pulled down when going over an Alaskan's lap?

Roasted is a witty, sexy story of self-discovery. It features excerpts from the fictional CassCooks by Cass Harper and some non-fictional recipes that you are going to want to try.

I write about romances that leave a mark- body and soul. A good laugh can bind two people as tightly as sublime sex can, and I love a happy ending.

YOU ARE THE ONE. YOU ARE MY ONE. IT’S YOU.
I enjoyed this story and fell in love with the various characters. Killian Nelson is a take charge dominant man that turns out to be Cass Harper’s dream man. The plot kept me captivated and the pages turning as this new adventure unfolds with Cass and Killian. I loved her cooking blog and enjoyed reading the recipes at the end of the story. Cass is spunky, self-conscience about her body, but her love of food, her blog, and her dear friends is her priority in life. Losing Stephen was the best weight loss any girl could have! I enjoyed the dialog and found it both entertaining and heartwarming. This is the first book in this series, and I look forward to reading more about Cass and Killian in Alaska. The author did a nice job describing the area, people and wilderness of Slicktrench, Alaska.

Great book even if it is a bit unrealistic

I will say that I enjoyed this book even though the romance progressed at breakneck speeds... seriously. You get there, and pretty much the next day you are hooking up and in love.
Stephen was my epitome of a jerk. I wanted to push him off a cliff.
There was not much plot but the relationship between Killian and Cass was cute.

What a wonderful novella! I found the characters of Cass and Killian endearing and fun, while I loved to hate Stephan. Stephan hurt Cass and continued to harm her life as he tried to use her blog and the money from it to impress his new plaything. Cass just would not take anymore and decided to take a chance by going to Alaska where she meets Killian, the love of her life. There are sparks from their first meeting and things develop quickly between them. However, Cass does find out that when she does not take her safety seriously or runs herself down that Killian will not let that pass. She finds out that the love of her life is also the old fashioned type of guy that will spank when he feels it is necessary. For Cass, that made things between herself and Killian even better. While things do not always go smoothly between them they do develop and grow into a fast moving and deep love.
The author has a great storyline with an unusual twist of using the blog posts and recipes. She has developed characters that are heartwarming and real that make you want to see them together and happy. I found she showed a range of feelings through out the book and included a great sense of humor that make me laugh along the way. I highly recommend this great novella and can't wait to read more from this wonderful author. Way to go!! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

I had never read this author before and decided to give this one a try. I enjoyed the characters, but feel that their own relationship was pretty rushed. Both Cass and Killian just got out of serious relationships, but even though they never really "loved" the previous person--less than a week seems pretty quick to be talking marriage. Not that Killian asked her--formally at least. It was all very insta-love/insta-lust. Problems with past relationships cause current relationships to seem strained. This is only the first book in a series, so it should be interesting to see how things work out for them, but I am unsure if I'd choose to continue reading it. The why of that is included in the cons.

Pros: Quirky and funny characters. I enjoyed all of the recipes that were included. It was a fun departure from the normal reading to have her blogging included. I did enjoy these parts.

Cons: grammar errors--even the heroine's name is changed to "Jess" at one point instead of Cass. I finally started highlighting the errors after catching several instances. It wasn't super distracting, but someone should have caught them. The other con was the significant other discipline of spanking. The hero and heroine both seemed to enjoy it, but it was not something I would normally read. He did talk to her and explain why he felt the need for it because she would not ever make that mistake again, but it just struck a wrong chord for me.

A cookbook and a spanking romance - what is there not to love?
After being humiliatingly dumped by her ex, the heroine Cass packs a bag and heads to Alaska, where she attracts the attention of her very own mountain man. I loved Cass, I connected with her immediately as she is a loveable klutz with the same insecurities that many of us suffer and can relate to. The hero Killian, is strong, firm and won’t let Cass put herself down, again there is affection but also a teasing element which is a great dynamic between the couple. For me the relationship formed a bit too quickly - but hey this is fiction, go with the flow! This has the sexy read and the feel good factor as Cass re-discovers her self-worth.

So Glad This Was on Unlimited...

This book looked like it would be a quick, sweet read with some spanking on the side. The only part that was true is the quick part. The plot seemed solid, but the couple basically met and later that day they are together and he is spanking her. The next day they are talking marriage. Huh? There was no chemistry, the love scenes seemed to be written by a teenager... it was off putting. Also, the word "unto" is overused and shouldn't have been used at all. It also pointed at a more juvenile writer. One who needs an editor, especially with the usage of commas.

I won't be continuing the series, nor reading this writer again. Pity, because the recipes sounded yummy.

I really enjoyed this story.
Cass was witty, smart, beautiful and a fantastic blogger and chef. I can't wait to try out some of the recipes mentioned on her "blog".

The story was quite entertaining, and I loved the addition of the blog posts. They were wonderful.

I loved the DD aspect, and Killian was absolutely yummy!

This was a fast paced, humorous, wonderful read. I can't wait to read the next one in the series!

Well-done, Susannah!
I quite loved this book. It was clever, witty, well-written, and insightful. The characters were well-developed, as was the plot. It was cleverly begun with a post from the Heroine’s ‘cooking blog’. I fell in love with Cass, and Killian, and Hazel, and absolutely hated Stephen, the self-centered and vain one-but wouldn’t everyone? I am really looking forward to reading the rest of the series!

This was a very witty read! Roasted is from a new author who has grabbed my attention with this funny but touching book. Cassie is the heroine, she is smart and sassy. Killian, the hero is a hunky Alaskan outdoorsman a man prepared to use a wooden spoon on his partners cheeky bottom. The cooking theme the recipes, the humor and domestic discipline are delightfully written! I highly recommend this book!

When huckleberries are confused for blueberries, love is bound to happen

Cassandra Harper is known for her blog, Cass Cooks.  It is there that she flourishes, feels truly in tune with herself, and shares her creativity and love for food.  Truly, Cass is famous. She has a huge following, and despite her boyfriend, Steph, trying to take credit for the blog and her success, Cass has a faithful group of people who believe in her and her cooking.

When Steph breaks Cass' heart and tries to push his agenda onto the blog, Cass does the only thing she can, she runs.  Needing to get away, Cass takes all her money and files to Slick Trench, Alaska.  It was the confusion of huckleberries and blueberries that lead her to Slick Trench, and the ridiculously handsome Killian Nelson.

All a girl really wants is love, acceptance of who she is and what she looks like, some good food, and maybe a spanking or two. At least that's what Cass wants, and I feel a lot of females feel the same, plus or minus the spanking.  When I first started Roasted, I didn't realize it was a part of a publishing company that puts out books involving spanking and BDSM related romance novels.  Even with the sexual context, Roasted didn't come across as an erotic book. It is a fun and exciting journey that Susannah Shannon takes us on as we follow a funny and lovable young woman as she seeks out her hearts desires.  I would highly recommend Roasted to a mature female (or male!) audience that enjoys a good romance.  And did I mention that you get free recipes?  The recipes that Cass creates are also shared in the novel for the reader to try out and enjoy.  Happy Reading!

I think a lot of females (and I guess males) can relate to this story when it comes to wanting to be accepted for who you are and what you look like, and wanting to be loved. Which is what Cass wants. Cass is a blogger. Steph, her ex-fiance needs a good punch in the mouth and then there is Killian.

This was a pretty quick read. I think more could have been written about Cass and Killian's last relationships as I feel that was a little rushed - maybe more about them will come up in one of the other books in this series. I also feel that Cass and Killian's relationship was a little rushed too - but I have never really been a fan of insta-love anyway.

That being said, I loved the charachers and the storyline. I love how Cass' blog posts were included in the book and also recipes too. It was a fun read that had me giggling a lot of times and it has its HOT parts that will leave you fanning yourself. I would love to read the other books in this series.

Easy read, well developed characters

I always appreciate when authors take the time to really develop their characters. Killian and Cass' characters development from the onset was engaging and kept me coming back for more. I'm happy to hear that this is the first in a series and will for sure be picking up the next ones when they come out. Sometimes loves stories can be cookie cutter and not hold your interest, once you have heard one you have heard them all kind of thing, but Susannah really hit the nail on the head with this one.

I also enjoyed the little cooking bits, recipes, etc. throughout the book. As an avid cook (albeit not a great one) it's fun to also be inspired to want to try new dishes.

Roasted Story contains domestic discipline insta-romance with elements of anal play and a HEA.
Sensational romance and cookbook blog combined. This book uplifts the reader while teaching more than one lesson, entertaining and inspiring. The character learns to value herself, her talent and to raise the bar on how she will be treated while becoming woven in a small town Alska family with an alpha-male willing to motivate her in every way possible.

Disappointed but loved the place where the story took place

There are 2 reasons for the low rating : 1. The language was FLITHY ! You can get your point across without the cussing. 2. The sexual content was strong. Once again you can get your point across without the cussing.
The best part of the book was the setting of being in Alaska. I love anything to do with Alaska.

This was a nice story! I was glad she stood up for herself and booted that loser ex-fiancé out of her life for good. I’m not one who like the jumping into sex to quickly which these two characters dud. They had good chemistry and he treated her well! It was a good HEA!

I actually read Roasted about a month ago and am just now writing up the review. I read it because I was offered book two, but with Shannon being a new-to-me author, I didn’t want to agree to read book two without knowing if I enjoyed the author’s writing style. While I actually found the spanking aspects of the novella a little problematic (I’ll address why later), I loved the author’s writing style. I found myself laughing out loud numerous times while reading Roasted and, after spending time in Cass’s world, was happy that this was only the beginning of a series.

I found Cass very easy to relate to. She’s a curvy gal who enjoys cooking and enjoys blogging about it even more. Unfortunately for Cass, her fiancé was unable to handle the fact that Cass’s cooking blog soon outshined his fitness blog and dumped her for a thinner ex-model. The end of her engagement is made worse by the fact that she & Stephen are business partners and he’s decided to bring his new girl in on the business and take the two of them to France for a wine tasting. So, in a fit of melancholy, anger, and extreme irritation, she books a last minute trip to Alaska to check out huckleberries, thanks to a well-timed message from a blog follower. As Cass embarks on a trip to Alaska while her business relationship implodes, she finds not only herself, but a man who gets her blood boiling the right way – Killian Nelson. Not only does Killian prove to be exactly what Cass needs (including a trip over his knee), but his family, their lodge, and Slick Trench, Alaska may be exactly what Cass has been looking for.

I absolutely LOVED the humor in Roasted. I found myself laughing loudly and often as I read the novella. There were far more laughs than I would have expected from a book of its length, and they were naturally occurring scenes of humor instead of contrived ones. The chemistry and connection between Cass and Killian was obvious, but the recent blow to her self-esteem Cass received from her ex made it hard for her to accept that Killian could be attracted to her. While I found the spanking scenes hot, I thought they occurred way too soon in the relationship. The first time Killian yanked Cass over his knee, I was “Whoa, dude! Slow down.” There was no permission, no discussion, it was just Killian’s innate instinct to spank being brought to the fore by extremely reckless behavior by Cass. Did she deserve the spanking? Probably. But there was no agreement in place before it happened and it just felt rushed, even taking into consideration that this is a novella. Fortunately, because this is a book, everything worked out in the end (pun intended) and left me ready for book two, Relished, to find out what’s next for Cass and Killian.

I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

This was a delightful read almost made me hungry throughout the whole book. Cass Who is dealing with an ex fiancé a blog about delicious mouthwatering recipes does something she never would've thought she do just pack everything up and head out to Alaska to go meet one of her fans from her blog.. Killian when he first meets Cass when she shows up at Alaska sparks an attraction fly.... He's very protective of her especially out and about with all the Bears roaming around and trust me Cass finds out what happens when you don't listen... *wink*
I definitely would say this is a spanking good time read. I really liked how Killian was more of your average guy but oh so Alpha like traits and Cass wasn't your perfect small little petite girl she was a real woman with curves and those two were just a perfect match.
I would recommend this as a great read if you want mouthwatering spanking good time.

I originally found Susannah Shannon’s book by accident. People kept posting cookbooks in the Spanking Fiction Readers and Writers Group I mod on Facebook, so I searched Amazon, and ta da! So I posted it in the group since there was cooking and spanking in the book. It is such a good read! It’s a fun and quirky spanking romance. I could have sat up all night and read the whole thing through, but I wasn’t able to do that. :/ For the longest time, I hadn’t felt like reading at all. Between Adaline Raine’s book, Her Leading Man, and this one, I felt I could enjoy books again and reading didn’t feel like such a chore.

This was a cute story about a cooking blogger that finally finds her true love. Cassie is on the rebound
from a horrible boyfriend. She goes to Alaska out of revenge and meets Killian her true love.
This story was funny, and steamy with many somewhat explicit sexual scenes.
Cassie finds that Killian is just what she needs in the love and spanking department. He takes charge and gives her several well deserved spankings. It ended rather quickly, when I
was hoping for it to go on, but it did have a happy ending and some great recipes.

Although this book will never be one of my favorites I did enjoy reading it. It is a novella so the relationship between Cass and Killian develops at a very accelerated pace, which causes some issues within their relationship that have to be addressed. The author does not shy away from addressing these issues which I enjoyed reading. I would recommend this book because, although short, the author was able to get me to buy into the main and secondary characters and cheer for Cass and Killian and their relationship.

This was a cute story. Cassie is a food blogger who has the worst taste in boyfriends! She left her last boyfriend because he wanted to marry her, but only after she lost weight. What an ass! So, he has a new girlfriend and is going to use the money in their account for a trip. She pre-empts him by using the money herself to go to Alaska to see a guy she has only talked to over the computer. Killian is a take charge kind of guy and he takes charge by spanking her when she puts herself in danger. There is a HEA, but everything ends rather quickly. I give this 4 stars.

This was a wonderful book with a quick and funny story line. I love that Cass is able to one-up her horrible no good ex-finance and use her money to take a great trip to Alaska. There she meets the man of her dreams in Killian. After a short bump in the road, the two settle down to wedded bliss. Bonus - a small cookbook at the end of the book with some yummy recipes. I totally recommend reading this book.

This was so much fun I loved it. The recipes looked good too. The only thing that kept it from a 5 star rating was as always IT WAS TO SHORT. I much prefer a lengthier story. I can't wait for more by her. As this was a first story I suspect she will do nothing but get even better.

Spanking stories have a tendency to come across as sleazy but Susannah Shannon manages to circumvent those tropes with wit and style. I would certainly recommend it.
