Dr. Brooke Campbell has a surprise for her fiancé Tess Sinclair. While Tess has been preoccupied with moving them into a new home, Brooke has been planning a surprise wedding.
Nervousness and excitement are in the air as Brooke and Tess look forward to new beginnings. But, merging families has a unique way of bringing back old memories. Brooke and Tess will need to confront issues from their past, old insecurities, and long held feelings of loss. At the same time, they must endeavor to foster a sense of security in Tess’s twins, Dani and Davey, as they commit to their life together.
Personality conflicts, old misunderstandings, rebellious, nine-year-olds, and personal insecurities remind Brooke and Tess that love is a fragile entity. Moving forward in their life together will require them both to remember that families come with a special label—Handle with Care.
I know, I always repeat myself when writing a review for a book by J.A. But hey, that's not my fault, they are all amazing. You are immediately drawn to all the characters, especially to Tess and Brooke. They make you feel warm and fuzzy inside. The family dynamic is fantastic and you can feel all the love. Love binds but just like in real life, it is not always smoothly. The double D's, they are amusing and let you laugh out loud. Their dialogues, unbelievable. Again, it is so well written, the pace is excellent and the story pulls you in and engages you. My Valentine day, due to circumstances, didn't become as I had planned but despite this, reading this book made my Valentine day very enjoyable. It was a delight to read.
Another sweet story with this adorable family. Wedding time!
Favorite quotes from the book:
"Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.” ~ Lao Tzu
“May the wind carry them gently into their future together. Like leaves of one tree, they are now two parts of one soul, ever drifting, but always seeking refuge in the comfort of each other’s arms.”
What a sugary sweet series. The every day life of a couple with children. Add some friends, relatives and a family pet. This story has a surprise wedding. Fun stuff.
Okay, I'm just going to put down a couple of notes. First off, though, (1) I rather enjoy the other two series by Armstrong - enjoy a lot; (2) this book ended with a comment about the next book in this series, reinforcing that one of the other two might actually be over now, since that one is the only one that I recall ever ending without that 'continued in' comment.
I'm not sure why, but I've never been able to get into any of the people involved in this series. The first story was good enough to be likeable, but it's been downhill, for me personally, ever since. Sad that.
I just . . . I'm . . . mmphs. I just don't particularly like any of the characters in this specific series here. And, quite frankly, if this hadn't been an Armstrong story, I'd have DNF'd this book. Don't take that as a recommendation to give this story a pass. Most people, apparently, seem to love the story. I just couldn't get past disliking the characters to be able to enjoy the 'glow' of a wedding.
Thinking about things . . . yeah, that's basically what I wanted to note except for one last thing - there's a roughly 90 to 95 percent chance that I will not read anything else in this series. It'd be better for me and better for the author. I mean, I don't like giving a rating like this one here. I just . . . mmphs.
I was about to hit the submit button, then recalled I gave a 2 rating and only noted I didn't like the characters. So, to add to that, I'll note: people sure did act weirdly. I'm not really sure what's going on with this series, the others seem to have people acting naturally, but this one always seems to be . . . weird. Like, people kept being on the verge of giggling, smirking, sighing, etc. In moments when it seemed out of character to be giggling, smirking or whatever. Well, not out of character for the sighing. Okay then - I don't like the characters, and something about this specific story here didn't flow easily/naturally to me, though probably just to me.
ETA: One last thing completely unrelated to my rating or my thoughts on the story - what the heck is going on with the cover to this book? Why does one character look like she's about 12 feet tall while the other one is roughly 4 feet. Sure, that one is sitting, so is probably 5 something standing, but they sure look weird posed next to each other on the cover.
I love watching people fall in love. But you know what I love more? Watching people LIVE in love. Witnessing the melding of Brooke, Tess, Dani, and D. into a family is inspiring. Every day there are people finding new love, new families, new kids, new parents. As someone that has a blended family, I can attest that it is at times a struggle and at times it is the greatest joy. This series, along with all JA Armstrong's series, is about real life, real people, real situations. It may be fiction, but you can be sure there is someone struggling with these very issues all the time. Thank you for giving hope to those that are wondering if there is a Happily Ever After. There is, it just doesn't look the same for everyone. Keep writing and sharing!
I love the series 'Special Delivery' By JA Armstrong. I like that I can read them in one sitting, that it's like catching up with Friends and here all the gossip but mostly I love that it's simple stories of love that could happen everyday!
Tess and Brooke are moving into their new home.... But Brooke has never been happier and she need to show Tess just how happy she making Brooke....
I've read all the episodes from this series up to date so all the reviews will be the same from me. But have a read I know you won't regret it!
Great continuation to an already awesome series. Brooke and Tess as well as the twins are great characters with great supporting characters. Can't wait for the next installment.
Third in the series that follows one couple. This novella is longer (147 pages) than the previous ones. Dr. Brooke Campbell and Tess Sinclair are preparing to move into their new home. Everyone including the twin nine year olds Davey and Dani are experiencing different feelings. Brooke in her bumbling way has added to the craziness of moving by planning a surprise wedding in the backyard of their new home the day after they move in. There is a lot of sweetness and fun figuring out how the kids will play a part in the wedding and gathering with the in-laws. I liked this one a lot. I think the extra pages allow a fuller story.
This book series is pure bliss. I just feel all the stress leave my body while reading it. I am glad that Brad doesn't seem like a bad person, cos that was going to dent. And Mary too.
More babies, please. We missed out on JD and Candace.
Ok now it's confirmed, seems I'm a romantic at heart. Who couldn't be? Read this book and I challenge anyone to say differently. You really become a participant rather than just an observer in this author's stories. It's an emotional rollercoaster and leaves you breathless and exhausted. It's exhilarating as well. Read this book the escapism should be a prescription offered to relieve stress. As you probably guessed by now I loved it.
It was nice to catch up with Brooke and Tess again, I loved their story from the beginning and the kids keep the humor flowing at just the right moments. Light, fun reading.
Let me start off by saying that I really like the two main characters. I mean I really like them. I think they complement each other perfectly. When I really didn't care for, though, is the peripheral characters.
Why would Rebecca help Tess get ready for the wedding and not her own daughter? Why did everyone think that Tess needed to keep Brooke in line? I don't think she needed to be kept in line at all. Grounded? Yes. In line? Absolutely not. And they are definitely not the same thing. Also, why did Rachel all of a sudden become Tess's best friend and start blowing Brooke off? Because that's what she did. She absolutely pushed Brooke to the side in Tess's favor. At least that's the way I read it. I wasn't exactly thrilled with Tess insisting that she stay at the hotel instead of home with Brooke. I mean they've been living and sleeping together all along? So what did it matter? I mean really? But here's what bothered me the most. Earlier in the story Brooke was written as wearing a dress. She was at no time anywhere in the story, so far as I can remember, described as masculine in anyway, shape, or form. She wasn't even described as soft butch. So why was she wearing a suit instead of a dress? Why do writers always feel that one of the brides have to wear a suit? It really bothers me.
I'm not sure I'm going to read the rest of these. I'll have to think on that. I'll probably read a couple other books and then maybe come back to these and see what I think. Wasn't happy with this one. I'm sure I'm in the minority here, but I just didn't like it.
This third installment of the well written story of Brooke and Tess follows the women as they move into a new house, facing new challenges daily. Nervousness and excitement abound, and both women must face the issues from their pasts, including insecurities and personal loss, all while fostering a sense of security in the twins. Meanwhile, Brooke is keeping a secret from Tess. Will this secret bring them closer or thrust them apart. Another must-read for anyone who enjoys reading about lesbian love. This is part 3 of the story of Brooke and Tess.
I like that Ms. Armstrong has introduced Brooke's father. I hope to see this character more frequently, and to see how his relationship with his daughter might change.
I would have given this book five stars if it had been proofread and edited a little more thoroughly.
Brooke and Tess are preparing for their move to their new home. Brooke is secretly planning their wedding for that weekend to be on Tess’s brother David’s birthday. With all the tensions of family conflicts and personality conflicts come the needs to take care of Davey and Dani and their future as a family. A marvelous family story and romance.
I enjoying learning more about Tess and Brooke. This book really made me cry, especially towards the wedding. The D's are the cutest and sweetest kids around. I also enjoyed what was shown of Brooke's dad and Tess's mom and how much they've grown. Excited to see what lies ahead for this little family.

OMG, Brooke, get a grip! Lol, her nervous energy was endearing though.
I like both kids, they are adorable, but Dani, she's a delight. That conversation with Brad and Brooke got me tearing.
Tess' mum though, my goodness! Last book I forgot to say, but the woman got under my skin. I'm against violence at almost all times, she would be the one exception, I'd love to slap some sense in her.
A wedding and all things that come with it. Some couples share when they decide to get married. Others like to be able to do it all to show their love to their love one. Sometimes it takes friends and relatives to help. Enjoy!
Massive fan of J.A Armstrong books and this book as part of the series is excellent. So realistic dialogues, characters and the story continues with a beautiful dose of family, emotions, feelings and intense moments. Excellent
I loved this book. I loved how Brooke arranged everything for the wedding and then was worried about everything being perfect. I loved how Tess's and her mom are finally getting along.
A wonderful continuation of Brook and Tess' story. Delving deeper into their family dynamics, this volume has some extremely emotional moments that are very well written.
