I always thought I had to be fluent in Spanish before I started to try and read Spanish, but I have found that just as when you read English, you often skim many of the words and still comprehend it. So I read this one or two pages at a time and looked for the words I knew then I had the gest of the story and could review the vocab and the questions. After that, I reread the whole chapter and looked up words I didn't know. Then I read it a third time all by myself. I couldn't believe I was reading a story in Spanish, but it really felt good.Bethany Patridge - Verified Purchase (July 10, 2016).GREAT LEARNING TOOL (5 STARS)FANTASTIC METHOD to assist my teenager and myself with applying the Spanish we know to comprehend Spanish texts!!!AB - Verified Purchase (July 8, 2016).ADVANCED BEGINNERS (5 STARS)GREAT LITTLE novellas to practice learning my Spanish. This series is great overall. I highly recommend it for the stories and the ease of reading for advanced-beginner/lower intermediate learners. The author has a few books in this series available as audiobooks on Audible, which is always a good thing.
The only thing I didn't like were the exercises, but those are easy to skip. They focus too much on specific details rather than broad-strokes comprehension. It's more like a test of memory than testing whether or not you've understood and followed the story.
Overall, I highly recommend the whole series. I think you could tackle this after finishing a self-study course or a language app like Duolingo pretty comfortable.
A nice little practice book to help learning Spanish, but the story was nothing special. I wonder what it is like in the original language though since this was designed to make it an easier read. Could be something I check out in the future. Either way, not bad.
