Waiting #3

Waiting for Him

Rate this book
Have you ever had a secret that weighed on you so heavily you felt as though you might crumble from the burden of it?

I’ve been lying to all of my loved ones for months now, lying right to their faces. I know at some point the truth will have to come out, but I’m dreading that day with every fiber of my being. I don’t want to hurt anyone, especially Jeff, my fiancé.
My past and present are at war, pushing and pulling me in two different directions and sooner or later I’m going to break. How do I choose between the two men I love?

Garrett, my ex, who disappeared from my life without a trace has now returned. He claims he still loves me and he wants me back.

Jeff, the man I’m engaged to marry built our relationship on lies, but he proves to me every single day how much he loves me.

Are the mistakes of the past too much for me to move on from or can I find a way to forgive one of them?

Maybe it’s time for me to start with a clean slate and just focus on me.

This is the emotional conclusion to Shelby’s story which began in Waiting for Love.

Lust, Love & Second Chances

WAITING FOR HIM is spoken in triple POV's (Garrett, Shelby & Jeff) which gives us such a broader experience of what these characters are facing..

Garrett, my ex, who disappeared from my life without a trace has now returned. He claims he still loves me and he wants me back.

Jeff, the man I’m engaged to marry built our relationship on lies, but he proves to me every single day how much he loves me.

In this emotional conclusion we follow Shelby’s heart-wrenching story as she opens up and tells the two men her deep dark secret that will change the dynamics of these characters forever.

Remember how the previous book ended on that cliffy all those unanswered questions get answered in this book.

I'm loving this more mature version of Shelby, in this book, her heads more screwed on than ever, she knows what she wants out of life and even though some decisions hurt she's determined to not settle..

A reconnection, friends to more, spoken in his POV, another contender for Shelby's affections..

Image and video hosting by TinyPic “I’m going to fill her heart up with so much joy there won’t be any room for anyone else to reside there. Then I’ll swoop in and steal it without her even realizing it. I’m going to own her heart...and her body. Shelby Tyler belongs with me forever...she just hasn’t realized it yet”

Image and video hosting by TinyPic I've always been involved with a man some way since I was seventeen years old. After Austin and I broke up I was with Garrett for those eight months and then the next three plus years I was with Jeff.

You can't fight who you've been destined to be with.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic How many times can one person's heart break before it finally shatters beyond the point of no return?"

I loved the angst, the feels, the re-bonding with the one your mean't to be with, self discovery, this series has pulled me in so many directions, just when I think I've got a handle on where the author is going with this story she pulls a curve ball on me and you sit back and think well yeah that worked and that's what I've grown to love about this author is the unexpected, each story, couple is unique.

I did not savor this book. I think it’s safe to say I devoured it so quickly I had to re-read to make sure I didn’t miss a single moment. This has to be Dawn’s most emotionally gratifying book thus far. From the get go, my heart was taken on such a powerful journey through some of the most sorrowful moments to the greatest of all highs and joys a reader can experience in a book as fulfilling to a reader as this one. Dawn has exceeded her own writing. As a reader, the array of feels poured into this book are what draw me into Dawn’s storytelling.

Dawn left us with a doozy of a cliffhanger in Waiting for Love but to be honest, it was an exciting one. It beautifully set up the themes of this book – growing up, being independent, and how to be true to yourself. And it’s amazing to watch Shelby getting to experience this full throttle. Even as an adult we all still have some learning to do and Shelby find this out quickly. But I must say that she exceeds in sticking to her guns when it counts. She may have unintentionally messed up with the two men in her life, but to the one that it matters to most – her son, Liam – she is the perfect person. Her choices eventually give her the HEA she’s more than deserved but it does come with its consequences.

Jeff and Garrett both have interesting parts in this story. One flees in a regret filled frenzy while one finds solace in his new role as father. But what I absolutely loved about these two, despite the trials and tribulations and secrets that seem to surface, is that not only did they both try to save their personal relationships with Shelby but they tried to stepup when they could.

As the story unfolds over the next several months after Liam is born, we get to experience the world of three single people growing up as they’ve never had to do. Words can’t describe how emotionally invested you get with these three as they juggle parenthood, dating, trying to find their absolute happiness. And speaking of dating, might I add that Shelby, Garrett, and Jeff dating (some pretty colorful characters I might add!) is a whole other world on their own that made me laugh and cry and, when the occasion called for it, yelling at my poor kindle who did nothing but display such a genius work of art with me.

With a well-rounded epilogue that ties up the two books perfectly, I can’t help but close my kindle and sigh and marvel about the happy ever after these characters got. In a word, Waiting for Him, and by extension, Dawn, is simply sublime! This is a definite must read for anyone and everyone.

Talk about an emotional roller coaster!

Shelby's pregnant, but who's the father? Her fiancé Jeff or the man who walked away from her three years earlier only to reappear as her boss who she has a quick one night stand with?

Shelby is a mess - while she navigates the web of lies surrounding her, battles her guilt and tries to control her out of control, raging pregnancy hormones. It seems everyone wants something from her and all she needs it some time and space to figure out her next move.

When baby Liam is born, Shelby pushes everything else aside and dedicates herself to becoming the best mother she could possibly be.

Stanton does an incredible job of navigating the jumble of emotions from all involved - Shelby's guilt, Jeff's disgust and disappointment, Garrett's hopes and Jake's unrequited love.

I read this book and changed who I wanted Shelby to end up with more times than I could count. A great read, you won't be disappointed with

"Well, I'm referring to the fact that you're knocked up and you don't know who the father is. It's all rather Jerry Springer don't you think?"

I'm not sure how I feel about this book. I am a little all over the place now that it's ended and I feel just like her judgemental brother...Shelby is five months pregnant and unsure who the father is. Her first love who deserted her when things got a little challenging has now returned and after a quick fumble may be the dad. She's currently engaged and living with Jeff, the second man to capture her heart. Caught between her feelings for these two men she is unsure of who she wants and how she really feels. Once she reveals the big secret these two men spend four months in limbo and they all deal with the emotional rollercoaster differently. Both men love her and nurture the hope of bring one big happy family with her stepping up to try and be the man she chooses. Throughout the story Shelby remains the one in control and she has two men fighting over her as they both feel deeply for her. Usually it's the sexy as hell lead man that is juggling the interest of multiple woman but in this story there is a role reversal and Shelby is the one who gets to pick and choose. Throughout the story I think we see her come to terms with her emotional baggage, deal with her past and reconnect with the woman she has grown into. Yet along that road she also crosses that line with Jake. And I think that's the final straw for me as he was collateral damage in her battle to find her happily ever after. For me, Shelby was selfish and took without giving. Although she had been hurt and manipulated by those she had loved and trusted, she in turn inflicted the same pain on others that didn't deserve it. She is no innocent unenthusiastic story either and for some reason I just couldn't empathise with her. That being said this story is well written with a very well portrayed love triangle it has angst, emotion and hope throughout and I guess it's my own personal dislike for the subject that has clouded my opinion of Shelby. Waiting For Him has a surprising conclusion, one I was not expecting as there is so much water under that particular bridge! Overall I think if you are a fan of love triangles and blurred lines then this is a five star read. This series is a must read for those that love this genre. For me I'm too much like her brother and felt it was a little too cavalier with people's hearts, hopes and dreams.

A four star I need whatever perfume she wears read.

Yay! I adored this book from the start till the end. Please hold your breathe and start this because Dawn has really done a very jod job on developing all three characters, Jeff, Shelby and Garrett. This book takes us through friendship, love, second chances and forgiveness. I know humans are flawed and that's what Dawn has shown us She has written characters with Flaws and relatable and the strength it takes to get through them. I Nothing is easy in this book. How can you forgive yourself before forgiving others? How can you mend your heart, look past the hurt, betrayal of your own to understand others? It's deep and I really loved how Jeff, Garrett and Shelby matured through their mistakes and grew as a better person.

I would highly recommend this book to everybody who hasn't read Dawn and to those who are thinking of picking her book!! She is an amazing storyteller and her story flows really smooth.

This is a cheesetastic hot mess. Shelby (of the voodoo magic vagina) not only has two hot guys in the running for baby daddy in a story too lame to air on Jerry Springer, but later in the book a third hot guy steps up to bat (cheesy cliche intended). She picks one of the three guys, and the other two are friend zoned, just because the author decides to surprise us. Glad I didn't have to pay for this one (Kindle Unlimited) otherwise it'd be going back for a refund.

Do not understand how this book has any 5 star reviews unless you ignore what happens in between the sex scenes.

Can any more characters be so unlikable? Shelby is pregnant and not sure who the father of her baby is. Come to find out Jeff is the one behind her break up with Garrett and he has the audacity to say that he doesn't know Shelby because she slept with Garrett. After the stunt he pulled and kept it a secret for over 3 years. How can he say they had an honest relationship if he lied the whole time to get her????
Also what is up with Cory going out with Jeff and Lee? His wife dated Lee a long time and he gave up on her because she wouldn't commit.
I think Shelby's problem is she is to needy. She lets Jeff go, and she may not have restarted again with Garrett but the did fool around for awhile. Once that didn't go no where she starts checking out Jake. Which she swore she would never start anything with him because of her friendship with Hailey. Well I guess when a girl is horny she forgets her principles. I didn't understand why the author even brought Jake into the equation????? Just one more person for Shelby to screw over. She never let him know that she had never moved on from her feelings for Jeff. Jake never let her know that he wanted more from her. He just let her assume that sex was all he was interested in. Also why was Marcus continously brought up if there wasn't going to be some mention of him and some kind of closure for him with Hailey. Instead of him just bailing out on the relationship???? To many unanswered questions, to many loose ends not finished unless there is more to this series, which I am not sure is worth the effort to read if so.

After Waiting For Love ended in a cliffhanger, I couldn't wait to get my hands on Waiting for Him. It was so delicious that I devoured it in one sitting. Waiting for Him picks up with Shelby being 5 months pregnant and wondering who the father is: her fiance Jeff or her ex Garrett who reappeared in her life. Added to that secret is a doozy that Jeff has kept from Shelby for several years which causes a major rift between them. The father is revealed and the story blows up from there. Because of the secrets that have been kept, Jeff moves to Florida to take his dream job leaving the door wide open for Garrett to make his move. But what happens is what the reader least expects. Add in another twist with Shelby's best friend's brother (the gorgeous Jake with whom she has always had a ton of chemistry) and you have quite the love "quadrangle". Ultimately, Shelby winds up with the one man who she was destined to be with from the start. Will it be Jeff, Garrett or Jake? Dawn Stanton gives the reader a satisfying ending that will leave you with that feel-good buzz.

Another great book in the series by Dawn Stanton.

In this one we finally get an answer to the questions from the previous book. It is told from each of the main characters POV- Jeff, Shelby and Garrett. This book was most defiantly a story of friendship and second chances. I think telling the story through each of there POV's really added to story and helped you to understand their actions and feel a real connection to each character. The story is very well written and has a good pace. Overall this has been a great series and I will looking forward to reading other books by Dawn Stanton. If you haven't read Dawn Stanton yet I would highly recommend starting with this series.

Holy crap cam we say emotional roller-coaster, Shelby has decisions to make and hopes it right. She's found herself pregnant which is great but who's the father ... Garrett the person she thought was the one or Jeff her fiancée? She loves Jeff but things have been off especially since Garrett is back in the picture confessing his love and trying to explain why he left. Jeff is hurt cause of Shelby ' s betrayal but he has a secret of his own. will Shelby forgive him, will she follow her heart and will it be her baby daddy? ,I loved it and enjoy the ending very much.

I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book and it didn't dissapoint. After the cliffhanger in the previous book, I needed answers! As you would expect there's a lot of tears, heartbreak and secrets are revealed. You are taken on a roller coaster of emotions that at times made me put my kindle down and walk away. At the end of the first book I knew who I wanted Shelby to end up with and I was right, though I did like Jake. I can't recommend Dawns books enough, though keep tissues near as you will need them!
