At 38, Zavier “Cade” McCade has it all: a military career he can be proud of, a successful business, and a close-knit group of family and friends. A former Army Special Forces Captain, Cade leaves the military to create Custos Securities, a burgeoning protection agency that provides unparalleled security for both civilians and corporations across the U.S.

After a string of disastrous relationships—and a narrow escape from an abusive partner—Braden Cross is finally putting his past to rest. Combining both his passion for baking and his knack for business, Braden owns the Sugar n’ Spice Café with his best friend who concocts exotic coffees and teas that pair perfectly with his decadent confections.

When a stalker sets his sights on Braden, the young pastry chef’s world is turned upside down. More frightened than he cares to admit, and not knowing where to turn, Braden is relieved when Cade steps in to offer his protection. Caught up in a maelstrom of threats, break-ins, and vandalism, the two draw closer together. Braden eventually realizes that he can trust Cade with his life, but he finds himself wondering… can he trust him with his heart?

Luna David is a true romantic at heart who was fortunate enough to find and marry her soul mate. Most of the time she considers herself lucky to have been blessed with having g/b twins, but they're giving her a run for her money. She's a stay at home mom and an author, so when she's not begging her little monsters to behave, you'll most likely find her writing.

She loves anything book, coffee or dark chocolate related and can't think of a better way to pass the time than to combine all three. She reads romance novels voraciously and while she prefers contemporary romance with strong Alpha males finding their soul mates, she's a sucker for any well written, romantic story regardless of genre.

She created the Custos Securities Series because she loves to write what she loves to read. Her books feature strong dominant males and the men they would die protecting. Toss in some BDSM and kink and you've got her Catharsis Novel Series, The Boys Club Series, and Kink Chronicles Series. She loves nothing more than making her readers feel a wide range of emotions with her words. And she hopes you enjoy reading her books as much as she loved writing them. Happy Reading!

This book should be titled The Kings and Queens of the Overshare. Every time they speak to one another, it's in monologue. There are entire paragraphs dedicated to imparting pieces of information to someone that could be covered in a sentence or two. It's draining and annoying, and I just wanted these assholes to STFU for two seconds. And the things they said to each other were completely unrealistic dialogue. People don't speak to each other this way.

Here's Maya explaining to McCade why he shouldn't bother running after Braden (who ran out like a teenage girl in the middle of a hissy fit):

"Look, we've never met, but from your height, I'd be willing to bet you're McCade. I've heard a lot about you. I know you're ex-military, Special Forces even, like my brother, and you're in all sorts of great shape, I can see that for myself, but you're almost a foot taller than him and you're built like a brick shit house. You wouldn't be able to keep up with Braden when he's in a mood and needs to run. I don't know anyone that could. He runs marathons for fun and once signed up for an ultra-marathon for shits and giggles, just to see if he could do it, which he did, and a number of times since. You guys may be tough as shit, but he'd beat you both in distance running without breaking a sweat, OK?No insults meant, just facts.'"

Did we really need all of that? Who goes off on another person like that? And this is what I'm talking about, this unrealistic bullshit happens throughout the entire goddamn book.

"'Cade, so far this day has been so wonderful. I've had so much fun and felt so relaxed and at ease with you all day that I just want to thank you.'"

"'Wait, what just happened here, Braden? We just shared the best kiss I've ever had in my life; after the best date I've ever had. I had to force myself to stop so I could get us inside where we could feel more comfortable and not on display for the world to see. Did I do something wrong?'"

"Believe me, I know you're a grown man. Right now, this grown man needs to feel you. I need to be grounded by the weight of you, Braden.'"

"'I constantly want to play with your hair and touch your soft skin, look in your gorgeous deep green eyes, and kiss those soft full lips.'"

"'...moving up your arms to your powerful shoulders, down your muscular chest...'"

"'...want your eyes to turn liquid jade when I turn you on.'"

This is how Braden describes his grandmother.

"'You think I'm joking, but you'll see. She's the kindest, most selfless woman I've ever met, but she's also exuberant and brash. It's a strange combination that attracts both men and women like flies to honey. She makes people laugh and she includes everyone, makes everyone feel important, even while making jokes and poking fun. It's kind of an art form.'"

Just....ugh. It's exhausting watching these people orate to each other on every page. And the story is just as bad. McCade is a shit bodyguard. After Braden the uber genius wanders off with his stalker (on fucking purpose), McCade and a couple of the other guys go and blow off some tension at a gym for a few hours, but then McCade won't sleep because, "The thought of heading to bed and getting some sleep when Braden was hurting and needing him almost killed him."

But it's perfectly all right to suspend the search and work out for a few hours?

I won't be reading any more books by Luna David.

While visiting his friend, Cooper's, sister at her coffee and bakery shop, Cade is immediately attracted to her partner, Braden. But Braden has some problems he needs help dealing with. He has a stalker and the notes and gifts are getting worse. Cade and his team offer to provide security for Braden. Cade can't keep his hands off Braden but will Braden be able to trust another man with his heart or his body?

I picked up this book months ago. For whatever reason, it didn't hold my attention. But after a friend finished it and recommended it to me, I decided to try again. I'm glad I did. I really enjoyed it this go round.

It takes well into the book before there are any sexy times but it was worth the wait. These two are definitely hot together. I love, love, love Cade. He's that broody, growly alpha that I eat up.

Braden got on my nerves just a tiny bit but I understood where he was coming from. It had only been a year since he left his abusive ex so naturally he would have insecurities and doubts. I can also understand how it would be hard to trust Cade after his experience.

I will definitely be moving on to book 2.

Tristan James did a great job with the narration and really made the voices for Cade and Braden stand out, matching their personalities and character traits. I really am looking forward to hearing what he gives us for the next two books in this series when they come out in audio.

Cade is former military and current part owner of a Security Company. When his Co-Owner takes him to visit his sister, Cade meets Braden for the first time and is instantly enthralled with Braden. Braden owns a bakery, has diabetes and Loves to distance run for fun. Braden has dealt with an abusive ex in the past and is not sure he wants to put himself in that position again.... Braden Fights against his attraction for Cade not knowing if he can trust Cade not to hurt him, but Cade is determined to make sure Braden feels safe and protected with him.

I really liked this book. We get the ultimate Alpha protective Male with Cade. And Braden is a really cute and sweet character who is his Cades total opposite. You cant help but love the instant connection these two guys have. They fall fully and completely for each other. Your heart will hurt for Braden hearing the things he's had to go through, but you will end up confident that Cade is the perfect Match for him in every way.

*Sigh*

I wanted to like this book and I am bummed that it let me down.

The characters were interesting enough and the plot was pretty standard romantic suspense stuff, but the writing style irked the heeeeeeeeell out of me.

I hate when authors tell me about the conversations characters have rather than simply write good dialogue and let me experience it for myself; it creates a barrier between myself as a reader and the characters and actually dials back my emotional connection to them.

There were also a couple of ridiculously improbable Hollywood blockbuster-esque scenes in the book which were supposed to come off as... I don't know... incredibly authentic (?!), but instead came off as laughably unrealistic. I mean, who the heck would take a time-out from searching for their missing loved one in the first 24 hours of their disappearance to work out? No one, that's who. I can see if the person was missing for weeks or months or years - at some point people have to move on with their daily lives - but no sane person that gives a fuck is going to take an hour to punch a heavy bag when someone they love literally has hours to live. And yet, this action was presented to the readers with an unspoken "See how evolved my main character is? He's feeling all of these emotions, so he's going to channel it into something productive so that he can get it all out and then get back to being awesome."

Um, yeah... No.

That's not how people work.

Also, I am so over the cookie cutter fiercely-loyal-and-over-protective female BFF and the quirky, tells-it-like-it-is Nana characters - they reek of trying-too-hard-itis. At this point they are an m/m romance cliche that needs to die.

David left me with a cliffhanger, though, so I may have to hate read Book 2.

This one I got from Audible fist, I got the book after, apparently I have a different edition from the audible!

The second version of the cover is very appealing, I was looking for to listen and read this book.

Large part of the book didn’t worked for me, incredible long monologues, unrealistic dialogues! Do you know in the movies, when the villain makes complements to the hero? "Damn, you are too amazing to be defeated", I was having the same feeling reading this book, to much complements to the amazingly super perfect security guys! So boring the cliche, 6'6" guy, the top, very butch, almost cave man, dominant, and the 5'9" bottom, delicate, fragile, and with a very annoying attitude!
It bothered me so much that Braden is describe as small, manny times in this book, 5'9" considered small... no.

Right from the beginning, the whole conversation between Cooper and Cade, big miss, in so many levels, I thought I was in a hearing, or a class, long explanations, and teaching wrong, in real life we always see couples looking very much like each other, but Cooper was "teaching" how tops and bottoms should be, perpetuating stereotypes, to me it was just a conversation between straight cave men trying to squeeze they masculinity as much as they can…I hated it!
The whole narrative of the book seems to be in a straight “to butch” kind of way! I never stop a book, no matter how bad it started, so I kept going...

At the bakery, I think the main characters didn’t even exchange words, and it was already full of eternal love, it felt forced, because the book again describes how tall, big, and beefy Cade is, so for me it was just physical, I believe in love at first sigh, in books and in real life, but this one, too much, in record time, and it didn’t felt natural.
Later, Maya, (Braden's BFF) started with all the complements about Cade's amazingness, I think it was unnecessary filler, and then another stereotype, saying that he didn't look gay, because he's so butch, and all muscle... I was, WHAT?? Big mistake, huge!

I really enjoyed the sex scenes, very hot, maybe is just one the little high moments of the book.

The final moments were intriguing enough, a few things I would have changed, but it worked for me!

I have no idea what book all the five star reviews were reading, but it obviously wasn't the same one I managed to work my way through with grim determination.

Putting aside for the moment the subject of plagiarism, looking at the book simply on its own merits, I was simply not impressed. There was a tremendous amount of exposition, which was then repeated multiple times in the dialogue, and I agree with other comments that the dialogue itself was absurd - people simply do not monolog like that in real life. Particularly annoying was the character Maya - first, I really don't see that she was needed in the story at all, and she was incredibly obnoxious every time she showed up.

Added to that, the descriptions were ridiculous. If the author wishes to paint a picture for the readers, she should keep in mind that it's far more effective to present Monet's Water Lilies than Bosch's Garden of Earthly delights. There was perhaps 100 pages of story in the 400+ pages present.

As far as the issue of plagiarism goes, I believe Ms. David did purloin the basic premise and plot from the work of Ari McKay. Ideas are intellectual property, and thus are covered by copyright. For instance, there is no way someone could get away with writing a science fiction novel about a farmboy named Luke who leaves his backwards planet in the company of an old warrior, setting out to rescue a princess with the help of a smuggler and his furry alien friend in a rundown spaceship and NOT eat accusations of copyright infringement. And yes, I oversimplify, but the number of similarities I noticed to the Herc's Mercs books while reading this were simply too numerous to not be causal. Of course, no one's opinion but that of a judge matters in the least, and no doubt people will rush to Ms. David's defense without any knowledge of the law.

Whether it was plagiarism or not, it's just not a good book.

I've always thought that a narrator does as much for making or breaking a book as the author does. The narrator gives the characters life and Tristan James does a great job with the reading and really made us see Cade and Braden stand out, matching their personalities and character traits. I really, really liked this book. Another one that I hated to see end. We meet the ultimate Alpha protective Male with Cade, and Braden is a really cute, sweet character who is his Cade's total opposite. You can't help but love the instant connection these two guys have. They fall fully and completely for each other. Your heart will hurt for Braden hearing the things he's had to go through, but you will end up truly knowing that Cade is the perfect and only match for him in every way.

You know that moment...the one where things can be saved or lost...

This one probably ended up closer to 2.5 than 3 stars for me but there's no 1/2 stars here and I'm not feeling like I want to split hairs so I'm calling it a day at 3 stars.

For the most part this one was ok and I liked it. Tristan James was the narrator so no problems there as far as I'm concerned. Mr. James is one of those narrators who never fails to provide me with an enjoyable audio experience when it comes to the audio portion of things.

As for the story there were two issues that really dragged this story down for me...the first one was the insta-love and folks we are talking insta-love here. This was probably one of the fastest cases of love at first sight on record. It whipped by so fast that it feels like I've got a case of whiplash which resulted in the fact that for me the connection just wasn't there.

There were a couple of times when Cade felt like Braden didn't have as much faith in him as he should and Cade was all "You should know by now..." and there sits me going "He should know what by now? He's had the relationship from hell and it's still stalking him, he's known you for 5 f*ing minutes and you think he should know what? That you're the end all, be all of boyfriends?" sorry but I think Cade needed to get over himself a little.

My second issue was in regards to the events that transpired when they were searching for Braden...I've already had my little rant about that in an earlier comment so for now I'm just going to say that 'not only was it unbelievable at times it was also laughable' and not in a good way. This should have been a very dramatic and pivotal point in the story. It was the perfect chance for the author to make, what was until then an average story into something better...it was the the moment when things could have been saved or lost...unfortunately for me it was the moment when things were well and truly lost and the story became locked in as being less than the solid 3 stars that it was until that point.

Now having said all of that I'm off to the second part of Cade and Braden's story in 'Protecting Braden' so there's still a chance for the author to win me back. I'm willing to keep an open mind and she's already got a point in her favor because this one is also narrated by Tristan James...so, I know it's a win for the narration but I'll just have to wait and see how the story goes.

Trusting Cade
Book One of Custos Securities Series #1
By Luna David

4.75 Stars out of 5 Stars

For debut novels, there are certain qualities that a reader can expect to find—clumsy storytelling, erratic character development, hyperbole and spurious motives attributed to characters’ decisions and actions—and yet with this book, first novel by the newcomer Luna David, I found none of the typical issues and every kind of good!
I enjoyed myself, and had to force myself to stop reading to do mundane things like sleep, eat, get dressed, etc. At a hefty 112,000 words, Trusting Cade is a delightful trip through the everyman’s life, filled with real life issues like medical conditions, running a business, and imperfect past relationships.
Cade, our aforementioned hero, is capable, charming, efficient and intelligent—and needs someone to love. All his past relationships had the flaw of being with men just like him—as he is a former soldier, most of the men he dated were soldiers as well, and none of those relationships lasted. Cooper, best friend and co-owner of Custos Securities, brings to light Cade’s issue—he’s looking in the wrong places for love. He needs someone who needs him in return—enter Braden.
Braden has been suffering in silence for months. Plagued by a stalker, Braden has barely managed to hold himself together until his secret is exposed by his best friend. Braden is diabetic, suffers migraines, and is a sexual abuse survivor—and while this may make you believe him to be a pushover and helpless, he is anything but! Braden just needs help—and gets it with Cade.
My only issues with the book were the author’s tendencies to have her characters speak in monologues—typical responses were far more verbose than a natural conversation tends to be, especially with multiple characters talking to each other. Add in some minor head-hopping that is usually served best by sections breaks and changing of POVs, these two minor issues did not detract from my overall enjoyment and I was able to ignore them easily as I read the book.
Alpha male guardian meets adorable and in trouble bakery owner, and coffee-cake fueled passion erupts! Threats, break-ins, kidnappings—it happens. With a delightful supporting cast of characters and a disturbing villain, Trusting Cade hit all my hot buttons for m/m romance. Sex, love, character development and a tension-filled HFN ending that perfectly sets up Book Two, Trusting Cade is forever on my Re-read List.

Looking at the ratings for this one I am going to be in the minority here.

This book should have worked for me, the blurb had everything I like in a story - but sadly it didn't for a number of reasons.

The storyline - the abusive ex, stalking and kidnapping - although popular could have worked well.

The bigger extremely alpha, ex military top with the much smaller but feisty submissive partner - I love that trope!

It was WAY too wordy. Full of conversations that explained things, repeated things and felt entirely unnatural. One of my pet hates in MM romance is female side characters that are made to look weak and weepy - Maya couldn't have a conversation without having tears in her eyes - seriously! Every.Single.Time. I think tears has become my most hated word! I hated Maya and that was really unfair of me but she began to drive me nuts.

Braden and Zavier finally make it into bed and get down to it at around 70% and there was more tears. I'm am all for emotion but it needs to be balanced.

This ends on a pretty big cliffhanger and as I didn't dislike Braden or Zavier I'm not too sure what I'm going to do about that.

Some similarities, but NOT plagiarized

I got this book, specifically because of a bunch of Amazon reviews accusing the author of plagiarism, or at least stealing from, Ari McKay's "The Harder They Fall (Herc's Mercs)". While there are a couple of similarities, this is a distinct work. I abhor plagiarists but this author did not deserve unfounded accusations.

What it is, is a very trope-y, cliche laden, stereotype-filled story. The 6' 6", muscled, tattooed, dominating Top, former military, part-owner of a security company, Cade (part of a last name, not first), meets Braden, 5'9", a diabetic marathoner, an obvious bottom, and a baker, just as he's threatened by a stalker. Braden's BFF, Maya, is Cooper's sister and he is Cade's business partner. She asks for their help and Cade falls into insta-lust with Braden. The story continues from there as the stalking escalates, etc. There is a feisty grandmother who appears later in the story. So, there the similarities end.

I mentioned the heights, since it's a habit of too many authors to use the "big guy is a Top, small guy is a bottom" stereotype, as is the case here. Cade is of course a leader, whose men were, and are, devoted to him. He can defeat MMA fighters, scale rock climbing walls in a single bound, cook all his boyfriends meals and fix his boo-boos. Oh, and he's insanely rich. Braden can run longer and farther than Cade, at least. None of the characters have dialogues, they have monologues. Long, effusive, overly descriptive monologues. There is, of course, insta-love. At least sex is delayed and only two brief scenes.

This wasn't all bad, just quite sappy and the characters were hardly realistic, or natural. It was readable and moved along. The book would have benefited greatly from editing for grammar and punctuation, as well as for trimming excessive detail. There's a second book, so the author can't change the characters much at this point. Hopefully she'll work on better narrative flow, dialogue, and add more character building. Right now, the characters are both in Chicks w/D's territory. I won't be reading book 2. It appears to be a debut novel, so maybe the author will develop a more mature style and originality with time.

DNF @ 11% This book got off to a bad start for me, with a convo that seemed to make a lot of assumptions about personality traits of tops/bottoms and had some random biphobia for no reason. The writing was clunky with unnatural, overly expository dialogue and many, many places where around five sentences were used to say something that could have been expressed in one. The plot seemed interesting, but the writing was too tedious to read for me to continue.

Holy insta-love Batman! Yeah, this wasn't a great story, but it wasn't too bad. The ridiculousness that was their relationship was seriously eye rolling, but beyond that, I had fun listening to this. I won't say you should go run out and read/listen to this, but if you are looking for something you don't need to pay attention to and still know what is going on, this is it. :D

The bodyguarding, eh, sometimes what they did made sense, but then other times I was like, huh, I would think a professional would have thought of that already, or done it a different way. What really didn't make sense to me (or really add anything to the plot) was making Z/Cade rich, like super rich as in part of a wrist watch making dynasty. What purpose did this serve? Beyond Z/Cade (he has so many names actually) being able to "take care" of his "boy." Sigh. I give this 3 stars because it was some mindless enjoyment to help pass the day and overall I liked the characters and will continue the series.

2.5 predictable stars

A friend recommended this book to me and I decided to give it a try since the summary sounded interesting, the author was new to me and nothing else was jumping out at me screaming; “Read me! Pick me!”

The minute I started reading I was completely enamored with Cade and his former Special Forces team turned private security. Cade embodies everything I love in a man. He’s protective, smart, fair, reliable and cherry on top, handsome to boot. Cade is driven by his need to protect. A natural born provider in the traditional understanding of that term so to speak and of course, after years of dying to settle down with someone special, his wish is granted when he meets Braden.

Braden, is a loveable baker who runs a cafe with his best friend ( who just so happens to be the sister of one of the guys on Cade’s team). Braden has an innate talent of picking a- holes for boyfriends and having his heart broken time and time again. Tired of being disappointed Braden decides to take a break from the dating scene until he lays eyes on Cade and unfortunately this is also where my romance with these two abruptly end.

While I love a good guy ( good guys in this instance), I cannot stand the Gary Stu "Goodie Two Shoes" syndrome. Cade and Braden are perfect for each other since their desires emotionally and physically are so in synch but my goodness they got on my nerves after awhile. I’m not sure if I should blame the characters per se, after all, I like them individually but their story, their conversations (was anyone else annoyed with the dialogue?) and their actions became so predictable. Everything was pretty "insta" between these two which doesn’t bother me … unless the story becomes dull as a result. It’s very disappointing to accurately predict what each character would say or do in every situation that popped up.

This is one of those books that should have been summed up in about 200 pages, not the 500 pages ( per my iPad) of endless repetition and forced conflict. There were times I felt like tossing in the towel but honestly, I liked these guys so much I couldn’t do that to them. Predictability be damned. Cade and Braden have been through so much in their personal lives that I absolutely had to read their HEA. I needed confirmation they would be okay and so in the end, despite what should have been impossible odds, Luna David, managed to make me care about the well being of her characters. That is the mark of a solid good author and that is why I’m looking forward to reading the 2nd book in this series.

Just a quick FYI, as I stated before Braden has a knack for choosing losers for boyfriends and his last one was the worst of them all. Braden was beaten and raped by his ex. it’s not explicit but it's graphic enough to warrant a trigger warning for sensitive readers. If you don’t mind predictability and you just want to sigh, ooooooh and awwwwwwwe! over a sweet couple falling in love then, by all means, snag this book and start reading!

I enjoyed elements of this book but I must say ..... it went on and on and on ! It really felt like too much was being shared and pages were written about nothing ! The fact that it was almost insta love didn’t help. In saying that, I’ll try book 2

Dear Lord above! Where to start with this one?
The insta-love? Like instant:
They hadn’t even been properly introduced [actually, they haven't even talked to each other by this point, and were in the same room for thirty seconds tops] and he already couldn’t get the image of the younger man out of his mind. As soon as he’d walked into the kitchen, his heart had started to race and he experienced tunnel vision.
He hadn’t had an immediate attraction to anyone like this in a long time and never this strong. He was lean, long haired, green eyed, and beautiful. Cade was working mental gymnastics to try to reel in his reaction, slow down his protective instincts, and cool his jets. He had a feeling it was going to be a losing battle.

The MC's extraordinarily short-sighted behaviour: [CW for spoiler content]

The same MC's utter stupidity:

I swear I read on only to see how awful this was going to get. I'll add into the mix:
* pedestrian writing with zero sense of pace, language or individual style.
* really bad procedural & continuity errors. There's a long section about MC1 putting a tracker on MC2's ring (rather than embedding it sub-dermally though this is the acknowledged superior method) and also (though secretly - why???) putting a second one on his watch. Later, MC2 somehow knows about the secret tracker, though he never explicitly finds out about it.
* the book (already >100k words long) ends on a "cliff-hanger". Now read on breathlessly for Part 2.

I am sorry when I have to write a put-the-boot-in review, because someone has spent time writing this. I'd like to find something positive to say about it, however, so I am pleased to commend the descriptions of the MC's baking.

Other than that, I cannot even.

Audio review:
The first two books in this series is two of my favorites so I was excited when it was released to audio. I bought them upon their release but am just now listening. I don't have the time to read the books but I thought the audio would be perfect. First, just so you know, this is part one of a two part story. If you aren't prepared for that, you'll be ticked at this ending.

Now, for the narration. First, this story and characters do not take place in the south. WHY DOES BRANDON HAVE A SOUTHERN ACCENT. It drove me crazy and was so annoying! I've only listened to this narrator one other time and in that review I noted that the characters didn't have distinguishable voices. That was true for this one as well. I assume that's why Brandon was given a southern voice but really, that's going to forever be nagging to me. This narration wasn't one you could get lost in. If you don't know the story well, you'll have to be focused to figure out who is talking and sometimes that's disappointing because you just want to get lost in the story and characters.

Overall: 5 (because I refuse to deduct for narration)
Performance: 2
Story: 5

I have an issues coming up with the right word for how I feelt. But I was so invested in all the issues Braden had with the stalker and it was both emotional and nail biting at times. Loved the way Cade was protective over Braden but not overly protective and very sweet at the same time. Really eager to listen to the next book. I hope it's the same narrerator as it was done very well in this audiobook! The next books is about Cade and Braden as well and I don't normally enjoy the romances to go oon iin more then one book but I loved the characters so much that I don't mind

No rating... DNF 40%
This books has just what I don't like in a romance... INSTA- LOVE and super slow narration... I can't continue reading when they just see each other and omg they are the Love of their lifes!!! Really dramatic and NOT real at all... I like my romances slow!!! Let the characters know each other a bit before thinking about eternity please!!!
Really boring...I try :(

For a first time writer, Luna David brought it. Angst. Slow burn flirting romance and when the love hit, Cupid's arrow had no place to go but straight.

Baker Braden and ex-military Cade found themselves in the right place at the right time even if the circumstances was all wrong.

Cade was at that stage of his life when he wanted more. A partner, a family...especially as he had a thriving business, dutiful friends and family members willing to take a bullet.

Braden was recovering from bad past relationships, one that included abuse. He was not looking for another relationship, especially one that involved the same type of man he seemed to always gravitate to.

Only threats pushed this baker and security specialist together and an effort to protect Braden.
This is a great read and only due to projects and a strong will that I did not read in one sitting.

What I am bitching about is that book two cannot come soon enough.

Debut novels are a tricky thing. You never really know what you’re going to get. Trusting Cade is Luna David’s debut novel and I have to say it was quite wonderful. There was alpha men and baker’s men. There was protective best friends and crazy stalkers. Love and suspense written very beautifully. I cursed a few times and have to admit I was mad at Braden a bit but it’s okay I got over it.
I’m very eager for book 2 to see where their relationship goes from here especially with how it ended. There’s so much repairing that needs done. Not in their relationship but within themselves.
There’s a wonderful cluster of characters in this story and it really makes for a wonderful mix. I really loved all of them… except the bad guy, poo on him!
Luna David is going to be an amazing treat for readers everywhere. Of that I am certain. I can’t wait for more from her!

Just as good the second time around

When I first read this book, I didn't know how important reviews are for visibility and didn't leave one. I'm rectifying that now.
If you are looking for a sweet, hurt-comfort, size difference, bodyguard, found family book, look no further. It does have a bit of graphic violence, but those scenes are brief. There's a hint of D/s, but since the book ends in a cliffhanger, it's not been fully explored yet.
Fortunately the next book is out, and I am heading to reread it now!
