This lot has instantly become my favorite contemporary crew:
Neve Knightly - "With the thought of Neve, his place is set ablaze with vivid color. And then she is everywhere, like a tuxedo kitten curled up in every corner of his heart."
Dylan Sterling - "He steps into her memory of his face as though walking into a mask, his blood-red locks set ablaze by the sun’s gleam."
Romer Anthony - "And the moment their eyes meet, she’s thirteen again. His eyes are like the clear blues of the Maldives, and deeper than Mariana’s Trench. His fingers comb his wavy hair away from his face, honey roots contrasting the platinum locks they fade into."
The Reaper - "He is a svelte silhouette. Young to the bone, but host to a weathered soul. A timeless art-piece marred by neglect and consequence. Beautiful, androgynous, and unimaginably lethal."
Alexander Galen - "He is reminiscent of a time long passed. When clothes were less about identity and more about character. It is odd meeting him. The mere act of looking at him is rousing a deep sense of nostalgia."
Marcus Holt - "He starts to pace the platform in his elitist attire, his hair thick, slick, and side-swept. He looks like he’s just crawled straight out of a men’s magazine. What a douche."
Victor Young - "Tall, solid build of a rugby-player, crew haircut, and thick, expressive brows; the ‘everybody’s type’ kind of handsome."
Now that you've met the 'cast', I will proceed to try and explain why this is one of the best YA books I've ever read. The premise (a.k.a the theories) are so MIND BLOWING that honestly I don't think anyone can actually guess the plot (or its insanely badass ending).
You'd have to contact the author (message her on GR or on her website) and request an ARC because the book isn't out yet (August), but she's sending out ARCs to people interested in reading and reviewing, so get your copy now! You'll probably have a ton to say about this book, trust me, might as well get the book for free! ;)
I will not be giving away major plot points, but as I've already mentioned, this story is a mystery, and a fantastic one at that, so the less you know the better. I will be discussing characters as vaguely as I can, but even that is spoiler territory, so DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER UNLESS YOU WANT A SYNOPSIS-LIKE BREAKDOWN OF MAJOR PLAYERS/EVENTS.

So this is a story about a girl named Neve. She is studying to go to medical school, but her heart is not in it. Ever since her boyfriend (Dylan) disappeared three years ago, she hasn't been the same. She is smart, sweet, and strong, but the lack of closure has left a big void in her. So when Dylan returns, her world is turned upside down, but not at all for the reason you might think. Dylan's return not only doesn't bring closure, it raises even more questions because it coincides with a tragedy. A tragedy that Neve believes could've been prevented had she not been in denial about what's 'wrong with her'.
Neve isn't the only person Dylan needs to make things right with. He seeks out his estranged best friend (Romer), who turns out has had a recent run-in with Neve. Romer wants to keep his distance from Dylan, but peculiar circumstances which tie the three of them together soon makes that an impossibility. Circumstances like Dylan's recurrent nightmares of a mysterious man he calls 'The Reaper'. The same man who--unbeknownst to Dylan--has begun infesting Neve's nightmares as of late.
Dylan introduces Neve to his psychiatrist (Alexander Galen), who answers Neve's questions in a way she could've never imagined. The information he divulges proves to be of tremendous value and winds up putting Neve (and others privy to it) in grave danger.
My take:
As mind blowing as the Fray Theory itself is, what I loved most about this story were the characters and how they related to one another. At first glance you might think this is a typical YA love-triangle, but it's not. The characters are so multi-faceted, and their backstories are incredibly rich. Each and every character is so fully fleshed out that he/she could be the lead of his/her own story. In fact, the author has 3 POV's: Neve's, Dylan's, and Romer's. I especially loved this because there is more depth to interactions, dialogues are emotionally-loaded, and it's impossible to take sides, or to hate anyone (except maybe Holt, but even hating him is a guilty pleasure).
I cannot wait to see what the next volume has in store. I cannot wait to find out more about The Reaper and what his connection is to Neve and Dylan. I want to know more about Young, about Galen and the origin of the theories, and I just NEED to know how the relationships between Neve, Dylan, and Romer will unfold!

I haven't felt this way about a story since The Matrix, and that's saying something! This book is nothing shy of brilliant. But what's really amazed me is that the characters are even more fleshed out than the mind-bending premise!
Meet Neve Knightly:
She is beautiful, sweet, smart, and funny. She is studying neuroscience in school, but her heart is not in it. She wants to be an artist (or so she thinks).
Then we have the glue that binds all the pieces of the puzzle together, Dylan:
He was (is?) the love of Neve's life. They were incredibly close, and what they had was real. But then he ups and vanishes without a trace, and she is absolutely crushed by it. The story picks up three years after this happens, when Dylan resurfaces without warning. At the same time, something peculiar is starting to happen to Neve. Something that's been haunting her since childhood comes full force and results in a tragedy. But a tragedy wrapped in a huge mystery, and Neve just has to understand 'why?'.
As if her life wasn't complicated enough, a third player is introduced: Romer:
I must say, from the moment Romer was introduced, I was drawn to his character. He enters the picture as an attractive love-interest, and almost instantly becomes infinitely more than that. See, he's not just thrown into the story to force a love-triangle. He is very deeply involved in the story. In fact, all three characters are all extremely important, like legs of a tripod. If any of them were missing, the whole system would crumble. And that's what I really have to commend the author for because this is not an easy thing to accomplish. You always get a third wheel you just want to go away, but I didn't feel that way about any of them! In fact, I didn't feel like a single character or scene was extra, or drawn out.
This brings me to the writing itself. It is smart, but surprisingly easy to read. I didn't feel like it was dumbed down to appeal to the masses, and I really like the sophisticated way the author tells a story. It just adds more credibility to the whole thing. The book is 300 pages, but I zoomed right through it because I was loving it too much. At the same time, I wanted to ration it because I suspected it ending with a huge cliff-hanger, and I would die knowing I have to wait to find out what happens! And I can say this about the ending: thoroughly satisfying, but leaves you desperate for more. The interesting thing is that the book starts out with a HUGE bang and instantly grabs your attention. And then it starts to build up, more and more, and ends on an amazing (seriously, WOW) scene, which sets the stage perfectly for the next book. And as you read, you keep thinking 'it can't get any better than this, can it?' Oh yes. Oh yes it very much can, and does! I don't even know what to expect of the next book when this one already has some of my all-time favorite things in the realm of paranormal:

But overall I can say this is probably one of my favorite books of all time. Definitely within my top 10. I received a review copy of this book from the author for an honest review, and honestly, I wish I could give it more stars than 5, but alas, this review will have to do.

“I was hoping to discuss my grade on last week’s assignment.”
“Which was?”
The cup size I wish I had… “D.”
I'm very very very confused.
So confused I went full cycle, and now I don't even have questions because I don't think I've understood a single thing that's happened in this book enough to raise doubt.
It wasn't bad, though, that much I can tell. And it was definitely not the YA love triangle fest I imagined it'd be when I added it to my tbr 6 years ago.
So...yay, I guess?
I'll probably add something when and if I figure out at least 10% of what's going on in this book's plot.
That could absolutely mean a full review may never come but you'll never know.
In the meantime, have a Henry Cavill, just because.

Nelou Keramati’s The Fray Theory: Resonance is a mind-blowing tale on surpassing the walls built around us by scientific facts.
Neve Knightly’s boyfriend, Dylan, disappeared three years ago together with his best friend Romer. He didn’t say goodbye to her thus breaking her heart. She eventually found out that Dylan was at a military school in New York. But after years of being away from Neve, Dylan was back in Vancouver. And so was Romer. What was the real reason why these two disappeared?
In the meantime, Neve’s dreams have started to take shape in her reality. All the lies she had told herself since her childhood are now turning her world upside-down. There was no escaping who she was and what she could do. It was time for Neve to peel away the covers and see the world bigger than she knew it to be.
Okay, so, wow, what did I just read? This book is exceptional. It was as electrifying as knowing that there’s a new habitable planet out there. I think I have a book-hangover. How do you move on from something as awesome as this?
I think I haven’t praised this book enough, so let me start with the writing. Nelou’s writing is gorgeous! It’s the kind that would keep you going through the story. Her words were warm and comforting as the first spill of sunlight in the morning. The only problem I had with it, and one of the reasons I’m giving this a 4-star rating, is that the latter half of the book wasn’t that polished and as neatly edited as the first half.
In the science fiction genre, I could say that this is one of the best I’ve ever read. I greatly adore the author’s ideas, how she connected everything and weaved them into one theory. It was superb and I’ve never read anything like it.
The pacing of the story was fast and never tedious. Going through it was like looking over a cliff. It was thrilling, curious, and fascinating.
The three main characters, Neve, Dylan, and Romer, were extraordinary. I cared very much about each one of them. I loved how their relationship and connection with one another developed at the same time that the mystery of their situation unraveled. If I would have to choose between Dylan and Romer, I don’t think I would be able to choose just one. I know that there’s a huge possibility of a love triangle, which I usually hate the concept of, but I trust that the author would bring to light whichever ship she would want to sail and I will trust her choice. Whichever of them Neve would end up with will be absolutely fine with me. (I can’t believe I’m not ranting about this.)
Another little problem I had with the story was how it ended. I think it could have been more bloody, or adventurous like the rest of the book. AND WHAT DOES THAT REAPER GUY REALLY WANT? I want answers!
Overall, I highly recommend this. If you’re reading this review, YOU HAVE TO GIVE IT A TRY. I can’t wait for a sequel. I need it now.

I sure felt like I was dreaming while reading this book though! It was amazing! It was extremely fast-paced and unlike anything I had ever read before. There are no clichés. There isn’t insta-love. Now onto the other two main characters. Two amazing people named Dylan and Romer… wait wait wait Romer and then Dylan. Can I just say that I loved Romer way more than Dylan. Don’t get me wrong they’re both completely great, but for whatever reason Romer was the one to capture my heart. He’s sweet and endearing and his story breaks my heart. He deserves whatever his heart desires and that includes Neve’s love. GO TEAM ROMER!
I have to say the best part of having three main characters is the fact that there is never a dull moment. Seriously, I was not bored once during this entire book. And I always seem to get bored at some point, but nope not with this one. It throws you directly into the action in the first chapter and it keeps it going until the last page. I promise if you pick this up you will be completely enraptured.
One of my favorite things about it is how funny it is! Oh my gosh every character made me laugh! Especially this line from Neve, while referring to her grade, which I’m sure all of us girls can relate to, “The cup size I wish I had… ‘D.’”
Overall this thing is brilliant guys and let’s not forget about that amazing cover that the author PAINTED HERSELF. Seriously she is so talented in drawing and writing, so I would highly recommend checking this out. Look no further here is your 2016 debut author.

My heart's still pounding! This book surprised me in EVERY WAY IMAGINABLE! Meet Neve:
Most of the story is told from her eyes, but there are two other characters, Dylan and Romer, and we get to see things from their perspective too. And no, they are not just there to be her love interests! Each of their stories is so unique and deeply involved with the main story!
This is how I picture Dylan (but with red hair ^_^):
He is dark and wealthy, but not at all spoiled or a cliche a-hole. He is mysterious, and his mystery is one of the things that made me incapable of putting the book down! And once everything was revealed, I was freaking out because it was not at all what I expected, and it was really cool! What I really love about him is that although he is really tortured inside, he doesn't use that as an excuse to be a total jerk to everyone. He has his moments of darkness, but he still pushes through, which I really respect about him.
Ok, then we have ROMER! <3
And I'm sorry, I feel for Dylan, but Romer is by far my favorite character! And I know this story technically isn't a love triangle, but if Neve was to end up with Romer or Dylan, I'd pick Romer. They had chemistry from the moment their eyes met!! <3 He has an awesome sense of humor that I think really compliments Neve. I have loved every single scene they are in together! I love how hot-headed and honest he is, no B.S. and doesn't hold back. And I also love how she reacts to him. She doesn't cower or throw a tantrum. She challenges him back!
I can't say too much about the story because I'd be giving the whole thing away, but I thought the idea was so unique and cool! It's one of those reality-bending stories that isn't at all fluff, it actually makes sense! And the writing was really really interesting! Smart, but also easy to read. It was weird, because it's the sort of concept (kind of like Inception) that you'd expect to find hard to understand, but the author made it so easy and interesting! It's so nice to read something that truly feels fresh and original!
I am already dying for the book to come out (Disclaimer: I got a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review). I want to hold the physical copy in my hands. The cover art is so beautiful! And I'm dying to know what happens next!

I am floored. FLOORED!!! I honestly don’t know where to begin! This is one of the most compelling stories I have ever read! I can’t even decide what gripped me more, the plot, the theories, or the characters! I’ll try to separate my review into three sections:
The Characters:
Neve Knightly (1st protagonist): She is studying neuroscience, but hates it (and her professor hates her, which is hilarious!), but she is pushing through because she doesn’t really know what she wants out of life (she kind of want to be an artist). She is still recovering from losing the love of her life (Dylan) a few years back (he disappeared without a trace). So when he suddenly comes back, things get real intense, real fast! But what I loved was how their relationship was so unique. You can sense how strong their bond was (and still is), even though technically it was ripped apart when he vanished. I love how she deals with his return. You can tell she is uncertain about the right thing to do, so she lets both her mind and heart lead the way. She doesn’t do stupid things b/c of love, and she doesn’t become an annoying little girl by shutting him out in order to protect her broken heart or something lame. She is very intelligent, but also honest about being lost in life. She is trying to find her purpose, and when something tragic happens (god... I can't even talk about it...), she starts to realize that the signs have always been there. That she’d been ignoring them, and now is finally the time to face her demons head on (and man does she ever! pun intended LOL!).
One of the best female protagonists I have EVER read! She is strong-willed, but also very kind. Smart, sexy, sweet, but also very human. Her actions and reactions are all reasonable. She not once did something stupid that would make me want to drop the book, and I don’t have a tolerance for forced behavior just to drive the story forward.
Dylan Sterling (2nd protagonist and Neve’s ex): He is FASCINATING! Probably my favorite, though his best friend (Romer) is also a very strong contender! So as I said, he vanished 3 years ago, and been completely out of touch with Neve (or anyone else). But the reason isn’t what you might think! The need to know the truth was so strong I kept on flipping the pages, waiting for sections from his point of view! And it did not disappoint! All of my questions were answered like a trail of delicious little bread crumbs, and then a feast at the end (OH THE ENDING!!) There is an even bigger question raised that makes me want to scream in joy and madness because I have no idea when the next book is coming out!!!
Romer Antony (3rd protagonist and Dylan’s ex-best friend): He is solid too, and Dylan’s disappearance hugely affected him, even more than Neve. BROMANCE ALERT! And I loved every single scene he was in! His flashbacks are IN.TENSE! He is actually pretty hilarious, but really damaged. The author gave him just enough sex-appeal to be the bad boy, and even though he’s got all the right ingredients, he is just SO much more than that. The backstory (for all 3 characters) is SO RICH that you can’t just think of Romer as a romantic complication. Actually, although there are 3 lead characters, it’s kind of not a love-triangle. But it kind of is… You almost feel like the bond (broken bond) between Dylan and Romer is much stronger. Too strong for Neve to come between them, and the author shows that really well! The awkwardness is so real, and so wonderful to read!
Marcus Holt (Neve’s prof): he’s not one of the leads, but I love him, the guy is a douchebag! I keep imagining Michael C. Hall playing him for some reason lololol (keep picturing him from Kill Your Darlings)! But I just love how he doesn’t apologize for all the blunt, horrible things he says. And you kind of can’t blame him cause they’re true!
The Theories:
Brilliant. BRILLIANT! I can’t stress this enough! Have you ever watched an action movie, or a super hero movie and thought: ok, sure, lets believe it’s possible to have super powers because a spider bit you, or because you’re an alien, or because you’re cursed, or whatever… just so you can actually watch the movie and not call B.S. on everything???
Ok, well this book addresses all the things other movies/stories skip! It actually FULLY EXPLAINS supernatural abilities! I have never ever thought this was possible, but after a section in the book (where things are explained), I actually had to put the book down and think about what I’ve just read. I was FLOORED. For a moment, I actually wondered if there could be some truth to these theories!!!??? What if it’s not just fiction? I started to think back to my own memories, dreams, and was all: HOLY SH**! I can’t say what the theories are, but they make so much sense! They are so intricate and well-explained. I’ve seen less ‘world-building’ in some fantasy books. This story is placed in current times, but the ‘system’ of the theories was so rich, I feel like I could actually believe them.
The PLOT!
Page turner! Fast-paced as hell, and the action scenes are so cinematic! The way things were described, I wouldn’t just see them like I’m watching a movie though, it was like it’s happening to me! I think the author used the points of view so creatively! It was unlike anything else I’ve read. The events that happened were so clever and unique, and I can’t get the pictures out of my head. There was definitely a bit of violence, but no sexuality besides romantic kissing, but it was intense. The tension starts out right away between both Neve and Dylan, and Neve and Romer, and it keeps on getting more and more overbreaing, and you just have NO IDEA which pairing to root for! I think I’m ‘Team Dromer’, cause I honestly love their friendship. It’s destroyed by what happened three years ago, but it’s on the mend, and it’s so beautiful to watch.
Also, the WRITING!
This is apparently a debut novel, but I didn’t believe it. So I read the biography of the author and apparently she ACTUALLY studied NEUROSCIENCE! So that didn’t surprise me so much then. She is an amazing story-teller, and I cannot wait for the next books!
I feel so honoured to have been asked to review this book. Although I already have the ARC (she emailed it to me in exchange for an honest review), I can’t wait to buy a physical copy. And the cover is STUNNING!!

WOW! This book was amazing and completely exceeded all expectations I had for it!
I'm going to start off by saying, you've probably never read anything like this. A lot of times when I read books I feel jaded. Same plots make for boring stories. But this plot line wasn't similar to anything I've read before and definitely NOT boring. I'm also a huge sucker for change in view points, which this book had :) But, I suck at describing plots because I feel always feel like I'm spoiling, so just GO READ IT! I promise (well I really really hope) you won't regret it :)
In addition to the plot, I loved the characters. There were three main characters, Neve, Romer, and Dylan. Neve, the main character, is a smart neuroscience student, who's also an aspiring artist. What I really like about Neve (apart from her unique name) was that she was relatable. She didn't follow the typical female character mold we see in so many books these days. Even though Neve was heartbroken over her ex, Dylan, she handled it maturely. She was just a girl trying to find her place in life, just like most of us. The next character was Romer (now would be a good time to mention that I'm totally Team Romer). What I really like was that Romer was that he wasn't just there to be "the other love interest". Romer was heavily involved in the story. Also his bad boy personality was a great plus :) And finally, there was Dylan. I kept going back and forth between hating Dylan and loving him. Like the other characters, Dylan also played an important role in the novel and . Overall I liked how all the characters were smart and independent yet still had some flaws which made them more human :)
And last, but definitely not least, the writing. The writing was absolutely beautiful. It was sophisticated yet easy to understand. I know the author says she never thought she'd become a writer but she was obviously destined to be one :)
All in all, I absolutely, positively LOVED this novel and I can't wait for the next book!
One more thing: I NEED to get my hands on a physical copy of this book because the cover is so gorgeous (which may I add the author DREW HERSELF)! (insert heart eyes)

Awesome book. 5/5.
So I pretty much read this book in a day (even though I wasn’t planning to!)
The author sent me a copy of her novel in exchange for an honest review. I’d just started reading City of Bones, so I figured I’d read both at the same time, but before I knew it I was finished The Fray Theory! It just kept on surprising me… I expected a lot of cliches, but honestly, couldn’t find a single one. I was really surprised at the romance. It wasn’t cheesy, and it wasn’t the *my whole world revolves around you* kind of romance. Don’t get me wrong though, the emotions in the book are really really deep! But it’s not corny. The characters didn’t act like stupid children (it wasn’t the kind of juvenile love-story that makes you roll your eyes). There was maturity to all of the relationships, but the characters were all so flawed and really relatable. I kind of can’t believe this is the author’s first book…
Ok, so the characters:
Romer is probably my favorite. I keep laughing at the things he says/does. He’s been through so much, but he still comes through for his friends (and even people he’s just met). He’s kind of rough around the edges, but you can tell it’s because he’s trying to hide the fact that he’s caring, since he’s been hurt.
Onto the BOSS:
Marcus Holt: I don’t know if the guy is gonna have a bigger part in the upcoming books, but I really hope he does. He’s honestly the coolest character in the book IMO. And I know we’re supposed to root for Neve (the lead, and she’s cool and all), but I love any time the two have a conversation. Holt always puts her in her place. It’s fun to read :))))

Very well thought. The theories (which I can’t tell you anything about cause it’d be a huge spoiler) are just so damn smart! They explain paranormal events in the universe, but in a scientific way. And the explanations make so much sense that it actually makes you wonder: what if?? Like, what if these theories are the actual reasons behind all the stuff we think aren’t real, but they are!? Very clever, and well-explained. The whole book is smart, very well written but a surprisingly easy read.
Also, being a YA novel, I really expected it to be aimed at teens (and girls, mostly). Slow and all about romance, but I was really surprised by all the action. It’s action-PACKED, and really fast-paced. There are so many elements of Sci-fi that I didn’t expect. Really loved the scenes. The way the author describes them, you don’t feel like you’re watching. You can feel it *happening to you*. And the characters’ abilities are just so surprising and creative. I watch a ton of movies (books, comics, anime, manga), but the scenes in the book are actually quite surprising and new.
BUT: the best thing about the book IMHO was hands down the ending! I won’t spoil it for you, just read it. And let me just say, I think *that character* is going to be my favorite character of the whole series!

Very clever, and well-explained. The whole book is smart, very well written but a surprisingly easy read.
Also, being a YA novel, I really expected it to be aimed at teens (and girls, mostly). Slow and all about romance, but I was really surprised by all the action. It’s action-PACKED, and really fast-paced. There are so many elements of Sci-fi that I didn’t expect. Really loved the scenes. The way the author describes them, you don’t feel like you’re watching. You can feel it *happening to you*. And the characters’ abilities are just so surprising and creative. I watch a ton of movies (books, comics, anime, manga), but the scenes in the book are actually quite surprising and new.
BUT: the best thing about the book IMHO was hands down the ending! I won’t spoil it for you, just read it. And let me just say, I think *that character* is going to be my favorite character of the whole series!

Okay... first of all, I wanna thank Nelou Keramati for the ARC of this book. Your generosity reflected on your book. I'm talking about generous amount of mystery, love, thrill and uniqueness.
Keramati's writing is deep but not too deep for someone not to understand and I like it. Yes, the book is fast paced and I think that's good because it's building a baseline of the story and makes the reader crave for more in the next book. I wanna rate this 5/5 but I kinda think that the 2nd book will top this one.
Ooooh.. I won't forget the 'cafe part' where Neve and Dylan saw each other again. That part made my heart skip a beat. Okay... no more spoiling. But, go Team Dylan! :D
I can totally picture this book turn into a movie.

I didn’t know exactly what to expect when I started reading it, but I have to say that the story has gripped me from the first pages.
I will not spend much time on the plot, I prefer to focus on the impressions I had reading the book, as long as they are still fresh. The main character of this story, Neve, is a normal girl, graduating in "neuroscience ", a life between study and art, a world that responds to specific rules and where the paranormal is labeled as simple suggestion or fantasy. However, after a painful event, his life crosses that of Dylan’s, ex-boyfriend, and Romer, his old friend.
The pace is fast and the reader's attention is catched by the many twists and fascinating history, in a mix of urban fantasy and science fiction. The characters are well defined, each one with a past marked by a tragic event, which makes them a bit shy to the others. We learn many things about them, through flashbacks inserted at specific points in the story. This breaks the pace, but provides a range of essential information to understand what happened before the facts narrated. I can’t help but appreciate the way Nelou Keramati made it grow the characters, leading them to confront their fears, to bind together and test their skills. The story presents different characteristics, which satisfy lovers of mystery, romance, sci-fi and fantasy. The result is an incredible journey through chases, conspiracies and fantastic theories. With the passing of the pages, I found myself more and more involved in reading, coming soon enough at the end.
As first novel in this series, I loved it and I am looking forward to read the next.

Finally.
I don't know what more to say. FINALLY a book with substance.
It's hard to find a book that grabs you these days... And even if it does, the lead character is annoying and the love interest is someone oblivious to any character flaws of the lead and is just mindlessly devoted to her simply because the story calls for it. Nelou Keramati is impeccably good at what she does. So much so that I believed in every one of the characters she introduced in the book. I felt for them, I fought for them, I cried for them, I got butterflies for them. (Dylan! ❤️ Romer! Can't choose!

First of all, I'd like to thank Nelou for providing me with an eARC version of The Fray Theory in exchange of an honest review.
As lost as I felt starting this book, but boy if I weren't totally AMAZED right now!
I still have the screen frozen on the last page and I just CANT!
Let me just get started and say that Neve is one of the best female protagonist I've ever read about, I usually always hate the female protagonist for many reasons; reckless decisions, stupid reactions, shallow thinking and weak romantic potentials. Neve is not any of these, throughout the whole book I was waiting for the time when I will literally throw my phone to the nearest wall, but I didn't, which I thank God for that, this character was so relatable and well developed! I just loved her, top of my favourite characters list by now.
ROMER! I apologise for the all caps but, oh my God, I loved him! I know that it's stereotypical for me to fall for the bad boy, but he is not that bad in my opinion he was just misjudged, that's what I thought! He is such a funny, adorable and sexy person, lovable and you would just want to wrap him in a fluffy blanket! I would love to be introduced more to him in the upcoming sequels.
Dylan, who is Neve's ex boyfriend who suddenly disappeared for 3 years and suddenly came back to her life. I didn't quite like him -maybe it's because I liked his ex friend a little bit too much- and was left aghast when Neve forgave him that easily. But all in all the character was described well enough, the author just made me love them all. And this is a first for me.
The writing style is what made me going in the midst of all the chaos of not knowing what was going on, I was so lost but the way the book was written just kept me going, eloquent yet so amusing, I'm a sucker for dialogues, and accurate description of the characters and this book provided the needed amount for me. The only thing that I didn't quite like was the metaphors, it was a bit too much for my liking.
The plot was totally unpredictable and out of this world, I had a hard time coping with it, and it went on for too long, this is the part where I was so lost I thought I wouldn't understand the book anymore, but as you read on you get more into the world and see everything fall into place.
I loved this book and can't wait for the sequel.

I am in love with this book.
This was probably one of the best Paranormal Romance/Urban Fantasy novels I have ever read.
There was romance, suspension, mystery, thrills, pretty much every thing that builds a good book.
The character development was beautifully written and well thought out.
Every character had his or her own uniqueness that made the story even more amazing!
I enjoyed every second of this book, and cannot wait to see how the series plays out.
I have to go decide if I am Team Romer or Team Dylan! (Ahh the decisions!)

This book really blew my mind. I can't even begin to describe how awesome it is. I didn't even feel like I was reading a book. It was so fast paced and smart. And I have to emphasize smart, because there are so many books out there that try to be, but you finish reading them, and it's really nothing new. The concepts in this book are a blend of science and philosophy. They're simple to understand, but so original and clever than you keep wondering how the author came up with them!
I can honestly say I've never read any book even close to this. The characters are people you'd want to be friends with. There's no drama for the sake of drama. They're real. The grit is real, the conversations are so smooth and witty. Nothing felt forced for me. It all just flowed. And one of the things I loved about the book especially is how you're shown a snippet in the beginning that's really badass, but you're not sitting around waiting for it to come up again because the rest of the story is just as interesting. Even more! And the way it all ties in together in the end, I'm just like: woah!
I think this absolutely has to become a movie. It just has to. The descriptions are so cinematic and larger than life. It feels like you're IN the world. And the action scenes are epic! Crazy that this is the author's first book.
Well, that's it for me. I didn't get into details because I'm sure I'm gonna spoil something for someone. It's too good to ruin, you have to just experience it yourself. I pretty much got Goodreads just so I could write this review, so there you go haha.

This was a captivating book right from page 1! I felt like the feelings the characters were having felt real, and they were really easy to relate to! And that is huge for me because if I don't relate to a character, I can't really care about what happens in a story. And I thought the actual story was really interesting and different. It wasn't like anything I've ever read before! It was almost like reading a 'movie'??? Really exciting and I was never bored!!

Okay for starters this was a review copy kindly given to my by the author - so here is a fair and honest opinion of the book. But I do have to recognise that here is something I think many of us aspire to do - write a book - but never do so fill respect and kudos for that.
Okay well those who have followed my comments before know that I do not really give away the storyline - there will no doubt be many more reviews to follow (since I feel the author has great potential and a very interesting tale to tell) but more on my thoughts of the book.
The book itself I thought was fast paced and easy to get in to although there are some aspects of how the narrative starts which did not sit well with me - as another famous book quotes "A beginning is a very delicate time" and I guess every author approaches this in a different way. However that was soon forgotten as the real mystery begins.
Now I will point out I didn't know much of what I was letting myself in for and apart from the title (The Fray Theory no.1 might also have been a give away) I didn't know where I was going to end up. So for me this certainly felt like the start of a huge adventure, (no surprise there) but this book at times felt like it was setting the scene, that the real meat of the story is yet to come (now this is why I have held back a star - a series for me is made or destroyed on its sequel - I am sure we can quote examples there) so at times some of the dialogue felt a little too heavy while at other times I wanted to rewind and have a little more explaining please. I am sure if I were to approach the completed cycle I would be a lot more settled.
So would I read more in the series yes I would if nothing else to see what happens next as to be honest from here just about anything is possible. I have no idea how long the series in aimed at being but I think the next book for me will really reveal to me what I think of the story, for me this is just the warm up act but like many great warm up acts, not only are they there for themselves but to build the anticipation for greater things to come and that I think is my overriding thought here. Greater things are to come.

It's rare that a novel hooks me from the get-go and draws me in as completely and unapologetically as The Fray Theory: Resonance did! I started reading it with a few pre-conceived notions as to what this novel was going to entail and was completely blown away by just how much more there was to it than I'd first assumed. And once I'd started, I found it very hard to put down! Which is such a great feeling, I love when a book consumes me so utterly that it becomes my whole world just as much as it is the characters.
The characters themselves are very well thought out and rounded individuals, and I adore all three of them very much (though I do have a ridiculous soft spot for her boy Romer!). I do love a tortured character- one where they have flaws and a history and aren't perfect in every way- and Nelou is very good at giving us glimpses into each of her characters psyches, letting us have just enough to leave us wanting more, but never in a reader-baiting manner.
I absolutely love the concept behind this story too- the fray theory itself. It's a delicious idea and I'm excited to see what'll happen to the trio after this first book. I want to say so much more about them and their journey to the point where book one ends but I really don't want to give anything away and can only implore to you read it for yourself!

What a smart, addicting, and well written debut! The premise of the book is fascinating but I am not going to go into details because I wouldn't want to spoil it. I was immediately drawn into the story and liked the main character Neve instantly. It is nice to read a female character that feels real who is able to be both smart and attractive but also funny and a little flawed. The plot is intricate and I would have read this in a day if I would have been able to as each chapter ending had my clutching my kindle wanting to know what would happen next and if everyone would be ok. I also wanted to solve the bigger mystery of what was going on. But what made this book so amazing to me were the characters. No matter how heart stopping the plot is if I'm not invested in the characters it just won't matter to me. I loved, LOVED all three of the main characters in this story. They were wonderfully complex and totally amazing. There are two guys but not exactly a love triangle as one is a past boyfriend. I thought both of them were equally awesome. I found myself really adoring Romer the most in the end. The banter and tension between him and Neve is great, so I'm hopeful. Honestly I wish I had this author's way with words so I could write the review that this book deserves. This book has something for everyone. Beautiful, quotable parts, suspense, action, humor, and romance. I highly recommend it and I can't wait for book #2!

This book utterly fascinated me. There’s quite a bit I want to discuss, so I will write a genereal, non-spoilery overview first. Following this will be a nonsensical rant containing my thoughts and questions (so basically, the good stuff ;)).

NON-SPOILER SECTION:
Alright, so if you watch Dan Howell on Youtube, you are probably familiar with the term “existential crisis”. For those of you who don’t know, it is exactly what it sounds like: a crisis in which someone questions the purpose of their existence. This book made me do just that. I can’t tell you why, but if you love delving into the world of “what if?” as much as I do, then this will be your kind of book. The ideas that Ms. Keramati explores in her novel have substance and depth. It will blow your mind, and that’s all I can say about it. And for the amount of mind-blowing information, I was very pleased at the way Keramati explained it all. I’ve seen info-dumps for just settings, so it must have taken considerable thought to slowly release all the needed information. I was impressed at how seamless it was–it was almost as if the readers knew what was happening all along, but a single explanation just confirmed it all.
It’s hard for me to pinpoint all of the other reasons (besides the Theory itself) I loved this book so much. I suppose it will have to be the most concrete of aspects, which is the prose. The writing style was elegant and seamless, and it flowed in a way that reminded me of Maggie Stiefvater, with expert use of rhetoric devices and unexpected turning of phrases. The way Keramati created imagery was astounding–I could, see, hear, smell, and feel the atmosphere she created with her words. My favorites were her character descriptions:
This passage actually screams personality to me. With a few phrases, I felt warm and comfortable, and I could imagine the mood of Dylan and Neve’s (the protagonists) relationship. Keramati could quickly turn this comfy vibe into one that sent shivers down my spine:

What else to say about this book? I took off half a star because of the small plot lag in the beginning, but this is quickly amended with fast non-stop action that I couldn’t put down. In fact, I was so engrossed that I didn’t even realize that my boss was (and several coworkers) were giving me the eye for reading on the job. (Thanks, Nelou!) The romance was sweet, but it didn’t overtake the plot, which I appreciated because that can quickly happen in these paranormal-fantasy-type books. The characters were all strong, independent, and very real for me. I enjoyed learning about their pasts and how it intertwined. And that ending, man. Wow.
Overall: The Fray Theory is wild and unique–something everybody needs to read.

Alright, so if you watch Dan Howell on Youtube, you are probably familiar with the term “existential crisis”. For those of you who don’t know, it is exactly what it sounds like: a crisis in which someone questions the purpose of their existence. This book made me do just that. I can’t tell you why, but if you love delving into the world of “what if?” as much as I do, then this will be your kind of book. The ideas that Ms. Keramati explores in her novel have substance and depth. It will blow your mind, and that’s all I can say about it. And for the amount of mind-blowing information, I was very pleased at the way Keramati explained it all. I’ve seen info-dumps for just settings, so it must have taken considerable thought to slowly release all the needed information. I was impressed at how seamless it was–it was almost as if the readers knew what was happening all along, but a single explanation just confirmed it all.
It’s hard for me to pinpoint all of the other reasons (besides the Theory itself) I loved this book so much. I suppose it will have to be the most concrete of aspects, which is the prose. The writing style was elegant and seamless, and it flowed in a way that reminded me of Maggie Stiefvater, with expert use of rhetoric devices and unexpected turning of phrases. The way Keramati created imagery was astounding–I could, see, hear, smell, and feel the atmosphere she created with her words. My favorites were her character descriptions:
“With the thought of Neve, his place is set ablaze with vivid color. And then she is everywhere, like a tuxedo kitten curled up in every corner of his heart; leaning against the window sill, snapping a photo of a raspberry sunset. Down on all fours with her hair up in a messy bun, wiping the wine she spilled tripping over nothing. Lying across him with tears in her eyes, begging him to stop making her laugh so she can get a few minutes of shuteye.”
This passage actually screams personality to me. With a few phrases, I felt warm and comfortable, and I could imagine the mood of Dylan and Neve’s (the protagonists) relationship. Keramati could quickly turn this comfy vibe into one that sent shivers down my spine:
“He is a svelte silhouette, young to the bone, but host to a weathered soul. He is like a timeless art-piece marred by neglect and consequence. He is beautiful, androgynous, and unimaginably lethal.”
Okay okay, I’ll stop with the quotes for now. Sorry for that little bombardment, but I had to share.
What else to say about this book? I took off half a star because of the small plot lag in the beginning, but this is quickly amended with fast non-stop action that I couldn’t put down. In fact, I was so engrossed that I didn’t even realize that my boss was (and several coworkers) were giving me the eye for reading on the job. (Thanks, Nelou!) The romance was sweet, but it didn’t overtake the plot, which I appreciated because that can quickly happen in these paranormal-fantasy-type books. The characters were all strong, independent, and very real for me. I enjoyed learning about their pasts and how it intertwined. And that ending, man. Wow.
Overall: The Fray Theory is wild and unique–something everybody needs to read.

The writer succeeds at mastering a suspenseful story into a truly superb book. This book creates a complex and carefully construed tale that has plenty of intentional misdirection that is quite convincing.
Dylan's secret and the protagonist's perception of what may have happened the past is intriguing. It seems for a second that the writer wants to reveal the secret behind his disappearance but draws the curtain at the right moment forcing one to desperately look for answers. Neve's character is certainly the best for me, yet, she has flaws just like any other person and they come back to haunt her.
Judging from the previews, premature assumptions can be made labelling this novel as another simple "cat and mouse" novel. Instead, those conceptions will be lost soon after the haunting opening credits emerge and we are transplanted directly into a deep and complex character study set against the backdrop of a Neve's struggle with her memories.
Nelou has assembled a terrific characters as this complex story unfolds at a frivolous rate. This is a novel that a discerning reader will admire and a reader with a short attention span will loathe. This novel certainly deserves a read and I am fairly sure those who are haunted by their past would love to read it.

This book was AMAZING. Seriously amazing. I can honestly say I have never read a story that even came close to this one. The idea in the book is so unique and original, I don't think it's ever been done before! The entire thing just flowed really smoothly. I was never bored. I liked every character (some more than other), but I can truly say there wasn't even one time that I felt like skipping a section. I didn't want the story to end. I thought I could guess what's happening, but I was surprised every time. That's crazy if you think about how many books are out there. All of these stories about magical people and werewolves and vampires that are "paranormal", but not original.
I really wish I could talk about why it's so different, but I'm really scared I'll spoil something for someone. The book is crafted really carefully, so any hints could give the big twists away. But I will say this: it will make you think about "reality" in a whole new way. It's really cool, because it's not b.s. It actually sounds legitimate :D I love that eventhough the story and ideas and action are really interesting, the characters are still really deep. I felt like I was reading about real people. With real feelings, and real, logical reasons for their feelings. Nobody ever says something out of character in order for the story to move forward. Everything is just planned out so perfectly. You can tell the author has labored over every word and that this isn't one of those stories that she'll just write, and then write another one, and then another and call it a "trilogy". She's planned everything, and her clues were just so well-placed.. There is nothing in the book that's extra. Every word is there for a reason, and that's probably why I wasn't bored, cause in the end it all comes together!
The ending was jaw-dropping! It wasn't a cliff-hanger that it makes you mad that you have to wait for the next book, it makes you crazy excited because of the way the author sets up this first book. You just know what's coming is going to be mind-blowing, and I just can't wait to see what she plans on doing with the theories.
I think given how creative this story is, how organic the characters are, and how beautifully poetic the writing, this could very well be a best-seller. I know this book is supposed to be a trilogy but I really hope the author either decides to do 5 or more books, or making each 5 times longer! :)) That would be awesome, I'll pay the extra shipping! :))
I just love Neve, Romer and Dylan, AND the other characters. I love the relationships, the mystery, the action, really everything! Thank you to the author for giving me a free copy of this book for my honest opinion. And yes, this was my true, honest opinion, and as soon as the book is published I am buying myself a copy because I just HAVE to have this beautiful cover in my hands!

This review will have NO spoilers.
To start off, I honestly didn't know what this novel was about! The synopsis didn't give too much away besides it being a YA book. The beginning HOOKED me. It was such a great start because I just questioned all the possibilities of why this certain event was happening. So it was a great start and the beginning was not dull at all.
Next, throughout the book I have to admit that I got really confused and had to reread parts from time to time because it's written in the 3rd person. I'm so used to reading 1st person so it took time for me to adjust but progressively I got used to it and everything flowed very well!
Another thing I loved about this book was how fasted paced it was. I do like my slow and steady books but this fasted paced plot was just right! I did question myself about a few things but I told myself to move on. Also the romance isn't this book isn't cheesy or annoying. I loved the relationships between the characters and the mystery they portray makes me want more!! I want to know the history and series events that happened to Dylan and Romer. Ahhh I love it.
As with the character development, this is a story that unfolds itself. You pick up pieces along the way and all the characters are so strong and I love how they brave they are. They don't question the unnatural and they accept it. They KEEP MOVING FOWARD and they don't let doubt consume the situation. Also since the author did the cover page with the characters in this book, I loved how I had an idea of what they looked like! I imagined them exactly the way the author painted them and it made it so much easier to picture in my head
As with the CONCEPT of this novel, IT WAS PHENOMENAL. The author of the book has a degree in Psychology so this fits so well in her area and the way she explained it was PERFECT. I wasn't confused and it was quite mind boggling to think such a different and UNIQUE concept!
This novel has been very different from what i've read and I already want the the sequel. Such a wonderful book and Fray Theory was a outstanding novel.
At the end of this novel (don't worry I'm not gonna spoil anything) It just left me off wanting more. Man I am a sucker for suspenseful and mysterious books and this is one of them! I actually got goosebumps at some points because it felt like i was watching a movie.
Overall, I flew through this and I'm ready to get a physically copy of this book! I never buy physically copies of books unless I love them and this may be one of them :)

There's no ghost nor gruesome creature, yet my heart still beat faster with the suspension of not knowing what's to come.
"Do pink clouds rain blood?"
is my favorite quote. Its brilliance lies not in its literal meaning, but the context it's presented in. Later, whenever the quote is mentioned, my mind immediately brings up the memory of the first time it appears, of whom it's related to, and of the danger that is hanging on the characters' heads.
Gripping beginning
This book doesn't start slow with mundane activities. It jumps straight to the middle of action and demands our attention. We are thrust into the aftermath of an accident and witness the badassness of the main character.
A good storyteller is one who can make the reader feel like they're watching a movie with the scene unfolds clearly before their eyes.
Overall, this book is a quick read with relatable characters, concrete plot and smooth writing style.
(However, I have to admit that I'm a little worried about the second installment, as the first ends with lost of unanswered questions and loose ends. If the author is not careful, she could ruin the whole series)

The whole world holds its breath until the ambulance lurches to a staggering stop.[...] Neve effortlessly liberates herself from her restraints, and ascends like a phoenix rising from the ashes. With her glowing gaze glued to her assailants, she steps off the deformed stretcher, sinking the vehicle by another few inches.
And then all that lingers in the air, is fear.

Actual rating 4.5. I thought this was a really great novel, especially for a first-time author. I think I would have given it 5 stars if I didn't already know about the major twist. I discussed the novel a bit with the author before I agreed to read it, and I guess because of that I sort of started with a built-in spoiler?? And we all know if a book has mystery, a spoiler can ruin everything! This wasn't a huge spoiler and didn't help me guess what happens (the twists are AWESOME by the way), but I think I would've been so much more blown away if I wasn't on the right track... Anyway, rant over. Now the actual review:
So this is about a university student named Neve (like Neve Campbell). She seems ordinary, but there is something unusual about her. (And I'm not getting into detail because I don't want the same thing that happened to me happen to you. Die spoilers! Die!). So Neve is different from other people, but she doesn't harp on it. She has accepted it, and lives with it, but then something happens. Something that makes her not be able to lie to herself anymore. She decides to uncover the mystery behind her condition, and that's the spine of the story: the 'fray theory'.
Then we have two other major players, Romer and Dylan. These two were best friends, and Dylan and Neve used to be in a relationship together. Then Dylan disappeared for 3 years, and she had to move on. The story picks up when Dylan suddenly returns, all the while Neve is dealing with all of these 'unusual' things. It's not magic. It's not a curse. It's not monsters. It's actually something very unique, and I can honestly say I've never read a book like this. I think when it comes to originality, I'd give it an 8/5 if I could. But I can't. Because math. But yes, really really cool, and I kind of wish it was real (like I wish I could live in this world). And these unusual things don't just happen to Neve, they happen to Romer and Dylan too. Each character is 'unusual' in his or her own way, and I thought that was really awesome. The three together are a really cool ensemble. There was romance, but no cheesy love-triangle, which was really refreshing.
Overall, I think this is a really great novel. Resonance is volume one of a trilogy (although I wouldn't argue if there were more books). I'm really curious to see where the author takes the next two books, because at the end of this volume (the ending was SICK! LOVED IT), everything is taken to a whole new level, and there really are no limits to what can happen, so that's really exciting!
I think I'm forgetting some things, but that's more or less it... 4.5 stars, really amazing book which I will probably read again very soon, and will definitely read the rest of the series!

One word that can describe it perfectly: ADDICTIVE!!!

It takes a lot for a book to spin me out of my reality but The Fray Theory managed. As a writer I can rarely disassociate from analyzing and dissecting characters, plot lines, and writing style. I know I've found a gem when I catch myself in a state of delusion that's not even remotely a world familiar from my own musings- and boy, that's not easy. My mind has wandered in some unimaginable places but none like this dimension.
Multiverse: yes, please, and thank you! Where thoughts have solid power, where premonition is more than a bug in the system; where dreams are not merely a side-effect of the mysterious processing works of the human brain; where vulnerability is but your fear of committing to one of the millions of arrows shooting out of the point marking your position on a life-map... It's within the covers of this book that I found the world where my existential paranoia was not only welcome but offered coffee and a free assessment, to put it this way...
