In this in-depth study a former architect inspires students with her infectious enjoyment of the art, offering useful advice, how-to help, and beautiful examples of her own work. Key techniques, such as the use of perspective and the application of color, are explained in simple terms, as are analyses of subject matter and discussions of materials and supplies. Every artist, novice or experienced, will find a wealth of knowledge here to give their drawings a whole new dimension.
So. I’ve taken up sketching/drawing, with hopes for an emphasis on sketching and drawing landscapes, part of an extension of my interest in mindfulness and spending more time with nature.
This is the first drawing book I picked up from the library and I’m glad I started here because it’s a gem. It covers enough of the basics to help me feel comfortable getting started. What I think I like most about the book is the quantity and quality of the author’s line drawings It’s chock-a-block filled with good advice.
In fact, everything about this book is simple, clear, practical and inspiring. I purchased the book after renewing my library copy several times and since then it’s been a mainstay near my drawing table.
Full marks in all respects and a debt of gratitude to Joyce Percival.
