Provides information on the geography, history, wildlife, governmental structure, economy, environment, people, religion, language, and culture of Iceland.
A good overview, though I'd guess some of the information is a little dated now. Not a lot in here that was new to me, but a few things were. Wouldn't read again, and not as intriguing of you aren't especially interested in Iceland. But otherwise pretty okay.
I learned SO much about Iceland from this unassuming children's non-fiction book! I've decided to pick random countries, one at a time, that I know little about and yet want to learn about (and perhaps someday visit). Iceland was the first and it was quite enjoyable. This series--"Cultures of the World"--is just the right level of info to dive into for the curious (but not overly researchy) mind. I've already reserved my next country's book at the library :)
This book was relatively short, but full of a surprising range of information about Iceland. The material was quite accessible, if occassionally repetitive. If there were things that I might wish it went into more details about, it also brought up lots of information that I would not have even thought to ask about. I would recommend this as a first pass for someone interested in Iceland.
This is a kids' nonfiction, but it was great as an overview because it didn't go into more detail than the average person wants and it was very readable.
It is several years outdated in terms of current events and policy, but otherwise good.
