With her first case behind her, Amber’s position within the Elite seems to be set in stone. She’s the darling of the media, the rookie who saved the day and everyone’s ass. But as far as she’s concerned, the limelight is no place for a Shadow Sorceress. A new case throws Amber into murky water. Someone is dropping bodies in King City, bodies that conceal a much darker truth, and it’s up to Amber to make sense of it all. Blindsided when a personal loss devastates her, she is left scrambling to pick up the shattered pieces. With her magic growing at a rapid pace, Amber must find a way to keep her secrets hidden and control her power or risk exposing herself as a Shadow Sorceress to those who would see her dead. In other words, just another day at the office…
That ending was even worse than the first book. I understand cliff hangers? But these endings feel like I haven't finished the book. What's worse is I'm still interested to read the next book, which will no doubt leave me the same way.
This is the second book in the series, so I thought the author might be getting things together.
Oh well, not so much...
The main character continues to amaze with the whole loner afflicted by magic, mommy and daddy issues. She is a mess for start to finish. She takes insane risks that have potential for massive long term disaster for no other reason than it will possibly solve short term issues...
None of the evil characters seem to be weak...
Honestly, the main character might be better off if the author wacks her and moves onto anther series?
I like this series so far, but I feel like it goes in almost circles for most of the book then sort of resolves itself at the end. Might be just because I'm tired but everything felt like it had been said at least once already and was starting to just make me think "stop saying you're doing it and do it!" Might just be me.
I'll continue on with this series as it is pretty interesting and I'm curious to fully discover what she is and what her sister will do to her.
the fight continues in King City as Amber tries to get control of her shadow sorceress magic. A new danger has hit the city, taking over people. Her coworkers are not what they appear, a few seem to be different than the average human. Its up to Amber to discover who is taking over the people and how to stop them.
I love Amber she's smart, strong and has lots of attitude. In this book it shows how the demon mark is affecting her as well as she has to stop a zombie raiser. I was surprised that this book didn't continue the story on her sister, Lily, but it was good nonetheless. I would absolutely recommend this series they are very fast paced and hard to put down.
I want to see resolution for Amber, Nic & Graham but nothing is resolved between book one and two of the series.
Not sure how much I'm willing to pay to see plotlines tied up - how does Amber learn to control her power? Can Nic keep saving her? Does Graham cone to terms with his daughter? What is Victoria? Is Amber's dad really dead?
Great second instalment. Another fast pace. Lots of infill and angst. Graham comes close to dying. Amber walks a fine line between darkness and leading a quiet world. Loving a person of either magical and human is out of the question as we know. Now her family are in the mix. Next one on the way hope.
This was a wild ride of a story. The action started from the very beginning and didn't end till the end. The main characters are very believable, the plot is easily followed and the story is powerful. I highly recommend this book.
I love the story flows from the first and second book. And you keep learning new things about each character as you read... Incredible books so far and easy and an amazing read.. They keep you wanting to read more Hi Linda Sheehan is an incredible author
I loved this book and it was even better than the first, which was great as well. Amber really shined in this one and from the first line, it was non stop action.
Seems trials tribulations fallow Amber throughout this time of discovery of who she is. Surprise support and more questions to be answered. A enjoyable continue of this story.
