If you're reading this, I'm already dead…

That's the note seventeen-year-old Haley Cooke leaves behind when she disappears from inside her high school. FBI profiler Evelyn Baine is called in to figure out who had reason to hurt her. On the surface, the popular cheerleader has no enemies, but as Evelyn digs deeper, she discovers that everyone close to Haley has something to hide. Everyone from estranged parents, to an older boyfriend with questionable connections, to a best friend who envies Haley's life.

Secrets can be deadly…

One of those secrets may have gotten Haley killed. If she's still alive, Evelyn knows that the more the investigation ramps up, the more pressure they could be putting on Haley's kidnapper to make her disappear for good. It's also possible the teenager isn't in danger at all, but has skillfully manipulated everyone and staged her own disappearance. Only one thing is certain: uncovering Haley's fate could be dangerous—even deadly—to Evelyn herself.

Haley Cooke has been missing for one month. Her boyfriend, Jordan dropped her off at cheerleading practice and she hasn't been seen since. She walked into the school to get changed for practice but never came out....

How do you walk into a school and disappear without ANYONE seeing?

The book opens as Linda Warner is searching her daughter's bedroom. She wants to see if she can find something the police might have missed. Linda still clings to the hope that her daughter is out there somewhere. Every day she goes to the police station for an update, she talks to news people to keep Haley's name and face in the news, uses social media to help reach as many people as she possibly can.

After a long day, exhausted from searching she slides to the floor clutching her daughters sweatshirt to her, smelling it to see if there is any scent of her daughter left on it. At that moment something by the bed catches her eye. A black notebook. The police must have missed it. She opens it and sees her daughter's handwriting with the words...

"If you're reading this, I'm already dead"

Haley is a nice girl and a straight A student. She has a close relationship with her mother but does sometimes clash with her stepfather, Pete who has only been around for a few years. She has good friends, including her best friend, Marissa. Haley has also been dating an older college guy, Jordan. By all accounts Haley doesn't have any enemies, and certainly no one would ever want to hurt her.

Would they?

But rumours abound and it looks like everything may not be what it seems. Her mother insists that Haley would never run away but her biological father, Bill thinks she ran away to get away from her mom and stepfather.

People are keeping secrets, it even seems like someone close to the investigation has something to hide. Is one of these secrets the reason for Haley's disappearance?

FBI profiler, Evelyn Baine is called in to help and will be working with a detective on Haley's case. Evelyn has been dating Kyle McKenzie for the last six months. They both work for the FBI. Evelyn is a profiler with the Behavioral Analysis Unit. Kyle was working for the Hostage Rescue Team but was shot in the line of duty and is now working in the field office. While Evelyn is helping with the Haley Cooke case, Kyle is working a possible human trafficking case. A university student was attacked and left for dead but miraculously survived. But she doesn't want to speak with police. Instead, she specifically asks to speak with the FBI....

There is a lot going on in this book but it is an interesting read. I didn't realize that it was part of a series before I started reading it (this has happened to me before but is my fault for not looking closer). However, it actually worked out very well as a stand-alone.

It was very suspenseful and the story-line was great. There were a few times I thought that things felt a bit implausible, but overall it was a good story with really interesting characters. The characters were well-developed and although I felt a few lacked depth, I think in most cases those characters were probably fleshed out in the previous books in the series.

I definitely want to continue with this series as I really enjoyed the story and want to see what happens next for these characters.

Thank you to NetGalley, Harlequin (MIRA), and Elizabeth Reiter for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

Talented thriller author, Elizabeth Heiter returns with her highly anticipated Profiler series, following Hunted (The Profiler, #1), Vanished (The Profiler, #2), Avenged (The Profiler#2.5), Seized (The Profiler #3), to her latest:

STALKED (The Profiler #4) FBI profiler Evelyn Baine returns, as we delve into the innermost connections of deep secrets of the victim as well as the heroine’s past. An intriguing puzzle, as two cases connect. "The best of the series, thus far!

A teenage girl goes missing. Haley Cook. A straight-A student. It had been a month since she went missing. Haley’s boyfriend Jordan had dropped her off at school for cheerleading practice.

Her mom, Linda stays on top of the police investigation daily as well, and social media. Forcing herself out of the house to hopefully find out information about her daughter’s whereabouts.

How could a seventeen-year-old girl just disappear? What had she got herself into that would get her killed. The media loved to refer to her as “all-American.”

Fans get to catch up with FBI Profiler, Evelyn Baine, and Kyle McKenzie.

They had both worked for the FBI-she as a profiler in the behavioral Analysis Unit and Kyle up until a month ago, as an operator for the Hostage Rescue Team. He had been off work since taking a bullet on a mission. She’d known how risky the mission was and couldn’t help but think she hadn’t pushed hard enough to stop HRT from going in.

Now here they were, he pretending he was Ok, and she pretending she did not feel guilty. They had been dating for six months and she missed seeing him at work. Evelyn had always been a private person in an office full of other profilers.

Of course, Evelyn is reminded of another blond-haired girl from her past. Cassie, her friend who disappearance had sent Evelyn into profiling years ago.

There was a lack of clues yet the story had captivated the country and was well-known. No one had seen Haley since she walked into the high school a month ago. Unless she had been killed there. If so where was the body?

Evelyn had a bad feeling. Then the mom found the note. A key piece of evidence gone unnoticed. If her note was correct, the person had already killed her.

Pete the stepfather, Father, Bill, Mother, Linda, Marissa the friend, Jordan, the college boyfriend.

Who would want to hurt Haley?

She has good friends, including her best friend, Marissa. Haley has also been dating an older college guy, Jordan. By all accounts, Haley doesn't have any enemies, and certainly, no one would ever want to hurt her.

In the midst of the case, old memories resurface from Evelyn’s past.

To the world, family and friends were grieving and searched as hard as they could for Haley. However, up close, there was a strange dynamic in the household. There was a clear animosity between the Varners and Bill (biological father). Where did Haley fit? How many secrets did this family have.?

With more than a half-million people reported missing every year in the US alone. The first twenty-four hours were crucial, the first forty-eight the most likely time to make a live recovery. After a month, the chances were practically nonexistent. Especially when the victim was a beautiful teenage girl.

Meanwhile, Kyle and his partner, Jimmy are looking into an attack in local college student Tonya Klein. Human trafficking. Does this case connect with Haley’s disappearance?

While Evelyn tracks all the secrets in the life of a missing teenager and her family, navigating hidden agendas and motives that might mean the girl’s death, the reader also gets a glimpse into Evelyn’s past and the secret she didn’t keep as a child that changed her own life.

Keeping secrets can have unintended consequences. Evelyn spends two weeks chasing a girl surrounded by secrets that had nearly ended her own life. She goes back to when she was ten years old once again.

At an early age, she put into motion all the things to come in her own life. From FBI agent to Kyle. Her journey to a life of her own, not burdened by secrets and lies from the past.

Elizabeth is a pro at blending police procedures with psychological suspense and mystery with top-notch crime writing. From well-researched material, a fast moving plot, to exceptional character development. She keeps you glued to the pages from the first page to the last.

Since I have read the series from the beginning, it has been fun following bi-racial female profiler, Evelyn, and Kyle (hope we will see more of this team)! She is strong, gutsy, and edgy!

Highly recommend reading all the books in the series. Fans of Mary Burton's Morgans of Nashville series will enjoy!

STALKED had many layers and many secrets, and most of them were deadly.

Kidnappings, disappearances, questionable police officers, accidents involving the police involved in the case, human trafficking, and barely a clue about anything or any connection that could be found.

STALKED was an intense but very good read.

STALKED focused on the investigation of a teenager who disappeared and led to many other issues and many suspects along with the questions of why and how.

The writing style of Ms. Heiter is smooth, detailed, and makes the story come alive and seem real.

If suspense, character banter, behind-the-scenes police work, on-site police work, interviewing suspects by FBI and local officers, and a good who-done-it are things that intrigue you, then STALKED is a book you will want to read.

ENJOY if you read STALKED. 4/4

Full review to come closer to pub day.

Quick thoughts:
I've read the first book in Heiter's profiler series and now the 4th book. I enjoyed this storyline much more than the debut and the character growth between books 1 & 4 makes me want to check out 2&3.

Quick read. Good mystery. Enjoyable.

"If you're reading this, I'm already dead"

When the above note is found in a missing girl's bedroom, even more questions are asked by her family and the police. Now that it seems like 17 year old Haley Cook knew something bad would happen to her, and possibly who was after her, the local police call in Evelyn Baine, a profiler for the FBI.

Stalked is the fourth installment in The Profiler series, and I have to be honest, I hadn't read the other three. They've been on my list for a while, and I just hadn't gotten to them yet. I'd heard from another reviewer that they also read it without having read the preceding books and had no issues following the story, so I decided to give it a shot.

The book follows two paths, one where Evelyn and her partner on the case Sophia as they work the disappearance of Haley. Everyone in her life from her father, to her stepfather, to her boyfriend seems to be suspicious and they all seem like they are hiding things. It makes it a really intense and engaging read!
The second path follows Evelyn's boyfriend Kyle, who also works for the FBI as he works a human trafficking case. Throughout the book they teeter on whether or not the cases are related. You'll have to wait until the end to find out!

I have to say, I enjoyed this book immensely! Once I got sucked in, I really couldn't put it down! So many things kept happening, but not to the point where it was overwhelming or hard to follow. It was definitely a thriller, that's for sure! I liked the main characters a lot, and felt right there with them as they uncovered clues and dead ends. I really enjoyed the scenes where the detectives were throwing theories about what happened off of each other, because I feel like that's probably what actually happens on cases in real life.

The human trafficking portion of the book felt well researched and not totally unrealistic, which I also really enjoyed. There were a lot of moments throughout the book that totally caught me off guard and even a few that gave me goosebumps! I felt like I couldn't read fast enough to find out what happened next.

Needless to say, Elizabeth Heiter has new fan in me, and I can't wait to go back and read the rest of the her series!

Stalked will be released on December 27th, 2016, so mark your calendars! A huge thank you to Netgalley, Harlequin, and Elizabeth Heiter for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

STALKED by Elizabeth Heiter is far better than it should have been. I under appreciated this book from the moment I received it from Harlequin Enterprises. I assumed it would be a massive love story wound about a thriller core, but I was wrong. This is a first class crime novel, rich in detail and dripping with suspense from the opening pages.
When high school cheerleader and all-American good girl Haley Cooke disappears from her school, the local police are baffled. Her family is devastated, her collage boyfriend anxious and distraught, and her friends at a loss. After almost a month, the locals ask for help from the FBI and they get it in the form of this series main character, profiler Evelyn Blaine.
But another case opens up at the college the boyfriend attends. A coed has been beaten severely and only managed to escape with her life. She claims she was part of a human trafficking ring and wants protection through the FBI. Enter former HRT agent Kyle McKenzie, Evelyn's new boyfriend in the FBI, who is recovering from a gun wound and is now in the Civil Rights section. He and his new partner are assigned to the battered coed case, but soon they find their case overlapping with Evelyn's.
The suspense grows steadily throughout the well written story, suspicions shadow every chapter and the cases become more convoluted as the story progresses. Yet there is never a moment when the telling feels forced, or the characters act out of place.
My only regret is now I face having to go and read the prior three Profiler novels. I did win this book through the GoodRads program.

This read much like an episode of Criminal Minds which I mean as a huge compliment as it’s one one of my favorite shows. My husband and I have watched every single episode from all twelve seasons, so to say that I’m a fan is putting it mildly. I was initially grabbed by the blurb because it sounded so similar, and though it definitely is, this book is unique enough that it stands out on it’s own. It’s also the fourth book in Heiter’s Profiler series, but I haven’t read the first three books and had no issues catching up.

The opening definitely pulls the reader in, Haley has been missing for thirty days and the FBI in the form of Evelyn Baine is called in for assistance. Right away a missing piece of evidence is discovered, a note from Haley saying, if you’re reading this, I’m already dead. It certainly upped my interest and added something dark and sinister to the story. What follows as Evelyn and a local police officer, Sophia dig into Haley’s life is a web of secrets and shocking revelations.

Heiter is a skilled writer and the level of detail she adds is astounding, you can tell she really knows what she’s talking about as far as the profiler stuff is concerned. Though there is so much going on and so much information is being relayed, I was never bored. Quite the opposite actually, I was fascinated. There were tons of characters to work through making trying to figure out who the culprit is even tougher for Evelyn and the reader. The plot was complex and intricate with a great deal of thought put behind it and the characters were also well developed. I liked both Evelyn and her boyfriend Kyle, both separately and together and I know I’ll enjoy following their story as the series continues. The suspense was slow burning, but mounting throughout and it definitely ramped up towards the end and the conclusion provided clear cut answers and nicely executed twists.

When I picked up this book I didn’t realise it was the 4th book in the Profiler series, now I’m not sure about you but I usually hate to start a book which is already part of a well established series, but I’m pleased to report it can be read as a standalone. I’m going to be honest with you here and admit that although I enjoyed Stalked it just didn’t meet my expectations. The first chapter certainly intrigued me, but as I read on this wasn’t a book that grabbed me by the throat. Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed Stalked, but maybe because I have read so many outstanding crime thrillers this year I’m expect a hell of a lot more from a book of this genre.

When seventeen year old Hayley goes missing without leaving a trace FBI Profiler Evelyn Blaine is bought in to assist as the police are mystified by her disappearance, it soon becomes clear to Evelyn that those closest to Hayley all have something to hide. Not knowing if Hayley is alive or dead, Evelyn must use all her skills as a Profiler to find Hayley and bring the perpetrator to justice. I could not connect with Evelyn at all, I’m not sure if this was because I picked up Stalked mid series, but I just felt she lacked “personality”, I like my protagonist to have quirks, or traits that make me want to learn more about them, I need a character to be memorable so I’m eagerly waiting for the next book in a series, unfortunately this wasn’t the case with Evelyn.

The plot is full of intrigue and suspense but for me it lacked the relentless pace I look for in a crime thriller, in the authors defence I think this again boils down the amount of outstanding books I’ve read in this genre. At times it felt like the investigation was moving too slowly and there was no frantic race to solve the case, which for me personally heightens my enjoyment of a book.

As I reached the last third of the book I found myself becoming irritated by the number of different theories the investigation team came up with, there were just too many and made the plot a lot more complex than it needed to be. I’m sure there will be plenty of readers who will feel very differently about this novel, and will enjoy it immensely, the author has produced a novel that has some of the elements I look for in a crime thriller but personally I would have liked a more intense and gritty read.

Elizabeth Heiter’s profiler novel STALKED starts with an FBI investigation into one missing young woman and explodes into a potentially unique sex trafficking case. The author grabs her readers painting a picture of suspense and intrigue that intensifies at the turn of each page. Heiter introduces her protagonist FBI Special Agent Evelyn Blaine, with the Behavioral Analysis Unit, joining the Neville, Virginia’s police detective Sophia Lopez in the investigation of a missing high school student, Haley Cooke, who a month earlier disappeared without a trace from her high school.
The storyline’s momentum increases when another case develops at Neville University when a young co-ed is brutally beaten and ends up in the hospital. The co-ed demands to talk to the FBI to report being blackmailed to become part of a sex trafficking ring. FBI Agent Kyle McKenzie, Evelyn’s boyfriend, and his new partner working with the Civil Rights Squad, end up investigating the battered coed’s case.

Heiter continues to add support characters as needed and provides each characters' history as she introduces them to the storyline. She adds interesting subplots keeping her readers guessing about the connection between the two cases. The storyline moves quickly changing direction as events unfold expanding the two investigations. With each twist and turn the suspense builds towards a dramatic solution to who is has been stalking innocent women. Heiter’s STALKED delivers a great mystery and is a must read.

*My Thoughts*

Stalked, by author Elizabeth Heiter, is the fourth novel in The Profiler series. Evelyn Baine is a Special Agent & Profiler who works for the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit. She excels at her job, and has gone above and beyond her actual job description in order to solve some really dangerous cases. One could say that Evelyn has stepped in it a time or two, but her desire to do her job better than anyone is why I continue to read this series, and will until Heiter winds the series down.

Darkly intriguing, skillfully plotted, and incredibly menacing!

In this compelling fourth installment in the Profiler series, Heiter has written a fast-paced whodunit where suspects continually crawl out of the woodwork, competition and jealous rivalry between teens runs rampant, and life on a college campus has a dark side that's not all fun and games.

The writing is effective. The characterization is spot on with the persistent and astute FBI heroine Evelyn Baine, the strong, dependable ex-HRT agent Kyle McKenzie, and a few crafty, despicable villains that are easy to abhor. And the plot keeps you on the edge of your seat as it submerges you, page after page, into a world full of abduction, murder, greed, arrogance, jealousy, guilt, deception, secrets and lies.

This is my first Elizabeth Heiter novel and although it can be read as a standalone it has certainly entertained and captivated me enough to put the first three books in the series (Hunter, Vanished, and Seized) high on my "to read" list.

Thank you to NetGalley, especially Harlequin - Mira, for providing me with a copy of this story in exchange for an honest review.

Cue the creepy music.... an eerie note is found after a 17 year old girl disappears. Some people think she just ran away, but her mother fears that someone has kidnapped her. She insists that her daughter would not run away. Evelyn Baine is called to the scene. She is an FBI profiler. Evelyn is a strong female character with no fear. She only wants to protect those she feel need protecting. Kyle is still recovering from injuries, and it looks like his HRT days are over. The characters are very realistic and the suspense was very edgy. It is a good police procedural and whodunit mystery! This is a great series. I wish there were more in this series!!

Stalked is a mesmerizing addition to Elizabeth Heiter's The Profiler series starring FBI Agent Evelyn Baines. Although this newest release is the fourth novel in the series, it can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend the previous installments as well.

Seventeen year old Haley Cooke has been missing for a month when profiler Evelyn Baines is assigned to the case after the teenager's mother, Linda Varner, finds a troubling note in her daughter's room. With Detective Sophia Lopez's help, Evelyn re-interviews the key players in the case and although there is no new evidence, several of the people in Haley's life appear to be less than forthcoming about the missing girl. Evelyn cannot put her finger on anything specific but something about Haley's stepfather Pete Varner seems a little off. Haley's college boyfriend Jordan Biltmore is obviously upset about her disappearance but his smug attitude grates on both Evelyn and Sophia. Haley's father, Bill, is clearly angry and bitter over the divorce and Evelyn cannot help but wonder why he is convinced Haley has run away from home. Haley's best friend Marissa Anderson reveals her suspicions that Haley was cheating on Jordan with his best friend Nate Stokes but both Evelyn and Sophia have doubts about her claim.

Evelyn's boyfriend and fellow FBI Agent Kyle "Mac" McKenzie and his partner Jimmy Drescott are looking into a troubling attack on local college student Tonya Klein. Their investigation of her claim she was forced into human trafficking reveals a few inconsistencies with other human trafficking cases they have worked on. However, they have no reason to doubt her story and following her death, neither Jimmy nor Kyle are quite ready to give up looking into her case. Surprisingly, their investigation intersects with some of the principals in Haley's disappearance and raises questions about whether there is a connection between the two cases.

Evelyn and Sophia know that with every passing day Haley's chance for survival drops so they are under intense pressure to find the one clue that will break the case wide open. They feel certain that one of the people in Haley's life is responsible for her disappearance but they are frustrated by their inability to uncover any new evidence. Evelyn is also quite concerned that her objectivity might be comprised since she is struck by similarities between Haley's life and her own childhood experiences.

Stalked by Elizabeth Heiter is a suspense-laden mystery that is full of unexpected twists and turns. The investigation takes on a heightened sense of urgency after Kyle's and Evelyn's cases converge. When it appears that someone will go to any lengths to stop them from discovering the truth about Haley's whereabouts, Evelyn and Sophia know they are on the right track. Will Evelyn, Sophia, Kyle and Jimmy put the pieces of the puzzle together and rescue Haley before it is too late?

When a seventeen-year-old girl, Haley, goes missing, police are puzzled to what could have happened to this all-American girl. Enter FBI profiler, Evelyn Baine. On the surface, this popular teenager seemed to have no enemies but as Evelyn digs deeper, building her profile, she discovers that maybe people around Haley have more to hide and maybe Hailey had some secrets. And one of those secrets could have gotten Haley killed. As Evelyn races to uncover what could have happened to Haley she realizes that maybe the girl isn’t the only in danger…. perhaps Evelyn is too.

Stalked by Elizabeth Heiter is a crime thriller meets police procedural following police profiler Evelyn Baines. This novel is actually the fourth in the Profiler Series by Elizabeth Heiter, but have no fear, I had no issues with reading this one as a standalone. As a huge fan of Criminal Minds, I was obsessed with the idea of reading a crime thriller whose protagonist is a kick-ass, female profiler with the FBI. I was not left disappointed.

The novel opens with a bang. Haley has already been missing, the FBI has been called in and in a textbook re-sweep of the room, Evelyn finds a notebook tucked in between the bed. She finds it filled with Haley’s handwriting and the words “If you're reading this, I'm already dead… “

This novel has plenty of moving pieces with two stories working at the same time. We have Evelyn’s case, as she profiles Haley’s captor, and then we have Evelyn’s boyfriend, Kyle, who is also working a human trafficking case. At first, the cases seem unrelated but as they begin to uncover inconstancies and coincidences, the connections between each are hard to ignore and soon they are working together to solve the case. I loved how Heiter worked to weave together these two stories; it built up slowly, filling the story with tension and twists. I was on the edge of my seat!

My only complaint with this book was the way the narrative was written; I am a huge fan of multiple POVs and character perspectives, but this one seemed choppy. It jumped around within each chapter without much rhyme or reason and there wasn’t much distinction between when the story was shifting gears. I would have enjoyed it more if it had been more fluid. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the story (and the development of Evelyn) enough to look past this and work my way through the narrative technique.

I’d recommend this one to anyone who is looking for a police procedural with lots of layered plot. If you are a fan of detective television shows or Criminal Minds, I feel like you would especially like this novel. I’ll be going back to read the others in her series!

I voluntarily received an e-copy of this book from the publisher (Harlequin), the author (Elizabeth Heiter) and NetGalley; it was my pleasure to provide an honest review.

Haley Cook is the perfect high school girl. Pretty, straight A’s, cheerleader, etc. But the last time anyone saw her was one month prior when her boyfriend Jordan dropped her off for cheerleading practice. But then her mother finds a notebook that the police missed. The first line reads, “If you are reading this, I’m already dead.” But who would want to hurt Haley?

Evelyn Baine, a FBI Profiler, is called in to investigate. It seems that there is more to Hailey’s life than you first see. It seems that everyone has some secret that they are trying to keep hidden. Then Evelyn’s partner, Kyle McKenzie, is working on the attack of a college student that will only talk to the FBI. It seems this is a human trafficking case that may be related to Hailey’s disappearance.

This is an action packed thriller that will keep you guessing until the end. Although everything seems perfect for Hailey, her life is far from it. How does her biological father fit in with her step father, how jealous is her best friend, does her college aged boyfriend have anything to do with this, how does a human trafficking case link in, and how is this going to affect Evelyn as she starts remembering her childhood friend disappearing?

There are so many twists and turns that you will be reading into the early hours of the night just to see what happens next. This is a great thriller and although it is the fourth book in the series you can read it as a stand-alone book.

I loved this story and I will definitely be purchasing the other three in the series. I can’t wait to see what I missed and for future books.

I received Stalked from the publisher for free. This has in no way influenced my opinion of this book.

I have read the Profiler series in order, Hunted, Vanished, Seized, and now Stalked. They CAN be read out of order, but the main characters are developed in Hunted, and they continue to grow throughout, so I definitely recommend starting with Hunted. I opened Stalked and was instantly sucked into a story which sounded exactly like news stories we are hearing about in our world today. I had a hard time putting it down, but I had to a few times, otherwise I would have easily finished it in about 2 or 3 days. I felt like I knew the characters, and was kept guessing as there were so many compelling suspects as we went through the book. I loved this book as much as I have the other 3, and I would totally recommend you get it - and the other profiler books as soon as possible... winter is upon us and it's time to curl up with a good book (or 4).

The 4th book in the series does not disappoint. It is fast paced and full of twists and turns to keep the reader wanting more. I couldn't get enough...I read this book in 3 days! All books were easily understood as stand alone, but I cannot wait to read all 4 over again in succession!

More like 4 1/2, but a REALLY good mystery. It kept me guessing all along, as a good mystery should, but the answer was there to be found.

Song for summary: Demons by Imagine Dragons

This was a great thriller! The characters are driven, intense, and skilled; while the plot is a wicked blend of action, suspense, and unexpected twists that will keep you hooked until the very end. I couldn't put this book down, and although this is the fourth book in the series I found no problems reading it as a stand alone book. I can't wait to go back and read the rest of this series!

Seventeen-year-old Haley has seemingly vanishes without a trace. A month later, her devastated mother, Linds, finds a hidden note in which Haley predicts her own death.

Kyle and Evelyn have been dating for six months now, but have only recently been able to go public, as in telling their employer, with their relationship. The rule restricting them is no longer an issue, which is a relief for them, but unfortunately, it's only because of Kyle's injury, one he sustained on a mission that resulted in him being unable to remain on the HRT team that he loves. Thankfully, though both he and Evelyn know it's not the same, a spot has opened up nearby and he's now a special agent in the Washington FBI office.

As Evelyn begins investigating Haley's disappearance, Kyle is looking into his first case with the WFO, one that may involve human trafficking. They're both also dealing with personal issues, Kyle no longer being a part of the HRT that he loved, and Evelyn the return of someone from her past, a person that continually let her down.

Who is repeatedly attempting to hurt Evelyn? Is it related to Haley's case? What happens when Kyle and Evelyn's cases seem to be connected? Will the break they both need come from an unexpected source? Is Evelyn safe? Will they find Haley alive? Who took her? What was her boyfriend, Jordan, involved in? Will Evelyn and the person from her past work toward a reconciliation?

One-click now and follow along as Kyle and Evelyn balance their personal and professional lives while searching for justice for those in need of help. Please keep in mind this is book four in the series and I highly recommend reading them in order. I'm already eagerly anticipating the next story featuring this couple.

In this fourth book of another of my favorite series we find Evelyn called in to consult in the case of a missing teenager. Kyle is on a new squad since his injury in the last book sidelined his HRT career. He's not happy about the change, but it does put him closer to Evelyn. He and his new partner (a familiar face from a previous book) get called in on a possible human trafficking near where Evelyn is working, and that's where things get interesting. Kyle's human trafficking case may be a false report, Evelyn's missing teen could be a runaway, and maybe their cases could be related in some way. One person keeps popping up in both investigations, but could it just be coincidence?

I like how this series is somewhat of a cross between a police type procedural and a suspense. It has just enough procedure to make it interesting and pull in some psychological aspects but not enough to make it boring or slow. The stories are also not overwhelmingly passionate, but more and more you can see the depth of the connection between the two, especially on Kyle's end. I'm invested in them now and have to see where their relationship goes.

I received an ARC from Net Galley for review, but the opinions are all my own.

Seventeen-year old Haley Cooke had last been seen going into her school after her boyfriend dropped her off at its front doors. A month later, Haley still missing, her mother finds a note hidden in her bed frame: If you're reading this, I'm already dead. An FBI profiler is then called in to assist local police in finding Haley. The plot soon becomes more complicated with a parallel story involving a murder and possible human trafficking ring.

Now, I read a lot of mysteries and generally have a good sense of where they're going. Not so with this one. Even towards the end, I had no idea what was going to happen. It was nonstop action and lots of surprises. This was my first book by this author but won't be my last. A thoroughly enjoyable read.

Thanks so much to Goodreads and the publisher for this advance copy.

I have had the good fortune to read this series from the beginning. Although each book can stand alone, each book leaves you looking forward to more. This series is becoming better and better with each book. The story is told from Evelyn Blaine’s point of view. Evelyn is an FBI profiler called in when there is an abduction or someone is missing and the local police seek more help looking at the victim for answers. You are engaged from the first sentence and the suspense carries you through the book. I love the well developed characters, the growing relationship between the characters, Evelyn and Kyle, another FBI agent. I recommend this series if you enjoy the suspense of solving a mystery with many twists and turns, and the way the book leaves you waiting for the next adventure.

A young girl disappears from her high school without a trace. FBI profiler Evelyn Baine is called in to help profile the abductor or abductors. Starting with the girls family and friends Evelyn learns she was dating a college guy and heads to him to see when he last saw Haley.
This unravels a string of events you will not see coming. There are man things you will think you have figured out and then BAM! Wait, what just happened. Now, I'm not saying there aren't things you will see coming but for me there were a few that I was not expecting at all.
I love Elizabeth Heiter and am already anticipating her next novel!

The 4th book in The Profiler Series: Amazing...

Evelyn Baine is called to profile a case. A missing teenager goes missing without a trace. But when things start taking a different route only time will tell if the teen is alive. A case her boyfriend Kyle is working on just might be related. Wait and see.

You will find yourself turning the pages and wondering what happened to Haley. It's suspenseful and you'll be surprised throughout.

Highly the STALKED as well as the rest of the Profile Series.

What a ride! Stalked has so much going on but I never felt lost or overwhelmed. Good cops, bad cops, the FBI, profiling, strong female characters, "real" male characters, kidnappings, disappearances, murder, campus life, human trafficking, suspects, plots, plots within plots, twists, turns, retwists and returns... I could go on and on. If you haven't read the earlier books in the series don't worry. Stalked can stand alone. This thriller/mystery pulls you in at the very beginning and holds your attention until the very end. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
