Her Halloween Treat

Rate this book
Trick…or wicked treat!

It was a devastating dirty trick—Joey Silvia just found out her boyfriend of two years is married. What. A. Dick. Joey knows her best chance to get over one guy is to get under another. Of course, heading home to her family's remote cabin in Oregon poses some challenges in the "available men" department…until she discovers this cabin comes with its own hot handyman!

Holy crap, Chris Steffensen. When did her brother's best friend turn into a hard-bodied pile of blond-bearded hotness? He's the perfect Halloween treat—and a surprisingly dirty rebound guy. For a couple of weeks, anyway. Except that Chris has other ideas…like proving to Joey that this blast from the past is a whole lot more than a naughty Halloween hookup.

Men At Work - Tiffany Reisz:

Her Halloween Treat is book one in the Men at Work series by Tiffany Reisz. All opinions expressed in this review are my own and have not been influenced by any outside sources.

I was looking for a sexy romance to fit in with the Halloween holiday and came across this gem. I’ve never read anything by this author before and ended up loving it.

Mt. Hood, Oregon:

Jolene “Joey” Silvia moved away from Mount Hood, Oregon and went to Honolulu to go to college. She now has a great job at Oahu Air as a Marketing Specialist and has been in a two year relationship with the man she though she’d end up marrying, Ben. That is until she realized that Ben was secretly married. She never wondered why he commuted back and forth between Los Angeles and Honolulu or why he never wanted her to visit him in LA. Now she knew why.

She is now heartbroken and has gone home to Mount Hood for her brother’s wedding. Her best friend, Kira, told her that the best way to get over a relationship is to get ‘under’ another. Joey scoffed at that idea. That is until she walked in to her childhood home, a cabin her parents had taken them to since she was a little girl. When she arrived a day early, she realized the construction worker was still there finishing up a complete renovation. Only this wasn’t just any handy man. This was Chris Steffensen, her and her brother’s childhood friend whom she hasn’t seen in ten years. And boy did he grow up since the last time she was him.

“You don’t get to be my first time. But maybe you can be the best time?”

Joey and Chris decide to have a ten day fling for the time she is home but at the end, she will go home to Honolulu and he can’t try to make her stay. What Joey hadn’t planned on, though, was both of their hearts getting so involved.

happy halloween happy birthday:

Her brother’s wedding is on Halloween which is also Joey’s birthday. The wedding is also a costume party. What an awesome idea. The time Joey and Chris spend together is the happiest times either of them have ever had. But, Joey can’t let her ex win by forcing her out of her job. She simply HAS to leave after the wedding. Staying isn’t an option. This thing with Chris is just supposed to be a rebound fling. Nothing more. Then why did it hurt so much when she thought about leaving?

First I love the premise of this series. Each book is about an everyday working man. And he is that. I loved the banter these two shared. They were so much fun. I loved Joey and Chris. Was there chemistry? Oh yeah, there definitely was. And Chris was every woman’s fantasy of a dirty talking, tool belt wearing man who is basically a walking sex God.

sexy working man:

This book was perfect for me. I definitely plan to continue with the series with book two, Her Naughty Holiday which revolves around Thanksgiving. I’m so glad I found this author and hope to read much more of her work.

“She belonged here. Not here in Oregon. Not here in Lost Lake. Not here in this cabin. But here, in his hands. Her body. His hands. That’s where Joey belonged.”

4 Woops, I Did It Again Stars
* * * *

I have a confession to make...and it will be redundant. It seems no matter how many times it happens, I cannot learn my lesson. I am speaking of the dreaded writing your review into the goodreads template-not in MSWD or even email first...disease.
I promise I will never speak of this again.

So here are a few thoughts on this book:

For me, it worked. I found the overall themes of trusting your gut, kicking your ego aside and seeing what is before you work. We all have experienced some form of those things... not listening to instincts when little alarms are going off...only to turn a blind eye to them because we want something so much....or because we think we do. We also beat ourselves up for not recognizing signs after the fact... when finally we are presented with the truths which were hidden. It is those feelings of stupidity which we need to let go of...Yes, we can take responsibility for our own actions but if we were manipulated and lied to... then accept you were played and are not dumb, stupid or deserving.

The main part of this tale which was so delicious, was Chris. This was a childhood best friend... a brother's best pal. The one who went to the mat always looking out for her brother once it came out he was gay. Chris was the one with our gal, Joey, who protected, who hung out and was always there.

Chris was the one who had the secret crush on Joey...loving her as only a teenage boy can from afar...

And now, many years later, he is living his dream....he is experiencing the splendor of Joey and it is better than any fantasy he ever played in his head.

Chris is the type of guy who was a stoner; kind of grunge and had hidden potential. Now after years working through all of his "stuff", he has emerged as that Guy...the lanky, strong Man...confident in who he is and what he can do...building beauty out of wood... transforming broken, neglected cabins and resurrecting them into things of immense wonder. There is no conceit in his actions... there is an understated way of just knowing. Has he been hit on by women owners of homes he has worked on...for sure. And has he dipped in the offerings...of course. But it wasn't something he pursued or looked for...it wasn't something satisfying for him.

Joey was something all together different. Joey coming back into Chris' world, even for the limited time, was a gift of the universe....and when he learns through a text sent to her by her bestie of her possible needs, a break up distraction....He willingly complies.

It is here where we fall for Chris... his way with Joey... his care and need...his command but also willingness to give and see Joey for who she is. The woman who is in tune with her body... who has a sharp wit, career and intelligence...and who also has been hurt deeply. He sees his teenage dream and also the woman she has become.

Joey is conflicted... she loves what Chris does with her body and makes her feel...but she is going to leave this visit home, return to Hawaii and her job. She is not going to allow the lying liar "win" by having her quit and leave the company they both work for.

So we have both of these people...agreeing to accept the fact during this Wedding time of her brother's...they will enjoy their coming together that feels oh,so good...knowing there will be pain in the good bye.

This had all of the Reisz treatment in the bedroom, couch, cabin, truck and any other place Chris and Joey inhabited... There was a lot of sex... yet there was a lot of feelings for what was developing...Chris was confident and strong in bed...yet not overbearing...he had that special way of being direct but not offensive or demeaning or over the top. Joey was an equal partner...relishing everything they did...and creating in her mind a bank of memories.

There was something else which worked for me; it was the love these characters had for Mount Hood, OR. Reisz spoke of her moving there with her husband and how this series came about. I could tell how much she loved the area and she gave me everything I needed to feel like I was there... the moss that wrapped around the trunks of the trees... the cold, wet rain slapping their faces as they opened a door...The thrill of the sun coming out for a few hours in the month of October...all of it was there to make me be part of the tale.

Oh, and I would be remiss if I didn't mention how much I appreciated the brother's story and his wedding... it was truly a wonderful nod to humor, fun and equality in loving the person you should be with..

Tiffany Reisz has two more books coming in this series...I am sure they will be equally as charming...sexy and fun....Be prepared, as they also will not skimp on the sexy times....It is Reisz and Harlequin after all.

“If he got anymore adorable, she would be forced to adore him.”

HER HALLOWEEN TREAT is a sexy, delicious, fun, Harlequin treat-of-a-story. Tiffany Reisz sets the scene for her protagonists perfectly and then continues to provide the ideal setting for the heroine whose heart has been well and truly broken by her boyfriend of two years. And what does one do to get over the heart break of a long term boyfriend? Retreat to a secluded Cabin and find a delicious handy man to swoon over. Enter sexy, beautiful, a man from her past and a generally wonderful human being, Chris Steffensen. <-- I LOVE HIM and I enjoyed the story arc with it's light fun, easy read nature It provides a fun escape and a truly romantic, erotic read but, to be brutally honest and some might say a little picky, I found it repetitive in word and thought in places, which is something that sadly takes me out of my story bubble. Having said this, the third person narrative with it’s fabulous dose of erotic sexiness makes this a delightful read and will easily put a smile on the face of romance readers.

This is very much a case of it's not you, it's me. I normally don't read harlequin type romances, and I normally don't enjoy smut. So why did I read this book? Tiffany Reisz. I figured I loved all of her past books, she's an incredible writer and I have never given her lower than a 4 star review until now. So what didn't work for me with this book, regular harlequin and smut readers may love. Basically I am encouraging you to ignore my rating and read this anyway if you already enjoy harlequin romance.

I really enjoyed the first twenty percent or so of this book, it was very cute and I loved the banter between the two main characters. But then they started having sex...... and never stopped having sex. Well, okay they did. But barely. And that's my issue with smut in general, I need character development and a strong plot and this book lacked in both those departments.

So like I said before, don't let my review deter you from reading this if you are curious. Heck you may even love it! It really was just not my cup of tea because of my own personal reading preferences.

Halloween had me in the mood to listen to something theme-appropriate while performing my daily tasks so this title by Tiffany Reisz immediately came to mind. I still hate the cover art but it's a fun adult contemporary romance that I thoroughly enjoyed the second time around. Looking forward to re-reading Her Naughty Holiday for Thanksgiving and my favorite of the three: One Hot December for Christmas. Fun times!

My favorite quote:
“You know the old saying --- if at first you don’t succeed, fuck that guy again.”
“I don’t remember that old saying.”
“It’s before your time” Kira said.

★★★✰✰
Her Halloween Treat is the first installment in Tiffany Reisz’s Men at Work series. This adult contemporary romance features a newly single girl on the rebound, a lumberjack-style hero, and a treat-filled holiday, all in a cozy, remote Oregon setting. Yep…sexy times ahead!

There were lots of fun elements I thoroughly enjoyed, such as wild friends, a family business, sexy banter, and flawed characters, all of which added a few layers of laughter and emotion. The characters were all involved in organizing/attending a costumed Halloween-themed wedding which was a pretty original idea I thought. Honestly though, if I wasn't anticipating this book solely because of the author, I wouldn’t have had any idea Tiffany Reisz wrote it. It was fun to read, but I always look forward to Ms. Reisz pushing the envelope in some way but she stayed fairly plain-jane contemporary in this one. It’s all good though. Tiffany Reisz can do no wrong in my opinion so I will read anything she writes…cheesy looking Harlequin romances included.

My favorite quote:
“You do such good work”. “I hope you’re still saying that an hour from now”. “I was talking about the woodwork”. “That’s one name for it.”

Tiffany Reisz’s holiday-themed Men at Work series includes the following installments as of September 2016:

A wedding, a birthday, and Halloween........tie them all together with childhood friends, a broken heart and rebound sex.....and you get a book full of delicious treats. Childhood friends who grow up, go their separate ways and then by chance or fate, find themselves reconnecting are always great stories. Their past connections tie them together and their unrequited love helps them forge into the future. You know it's meant to be but they need a little help in seeing they are meant to be.

This a a fun, light sexy story. It's your typical Harlequin book but what makes this one special is the author. She always has strong characters and they have great banter. The story, even though it's short, has great development and ties up nicely. This is a great standalone book to put you in a fantastic mood and one that makes you believe in happily ever afters.

Her Halloween Treat is the first in the Men at Work series that showcases our everyday hunky heroes. Joey is heading home to Oregon for her brother’s wedding, fresh from the discovery that her boyfriend of two years was married. The devastation is pushed aside when she notices that the hunky man in the master bedroom of her family cabin isn’t just a handsome stranger, but Chris. Her brother’s best friend and friend she hadn’t seen since high school ended. With the advice of her bestie ringing in her ears, Joey leaps into the arms of Chris for fling to help her forget her heartbreak. It was only supposed to be a fling, but somehow it turns into so much more.

The banter in this book is ALL THE THINGS. I loved reading every single exchange these two characters had. Now, I know when I dive into a TR book, I’m going to get amazing sex scenes and fantastic writing, but somehow I forgot how damn witty she is. I was all smiles throughout this book.

I tend to love the rich heroes, but there is something to be said about a blue collar guy who is good with his hands. I am excited to see what she has in store for us with the rest of this series.

I underestimated how much I was going to enjoy this book. Not only did I enjoy it, I almost fell in love with it.

My idiotic self proved me wrong by providing me with a story that had depth despite the cheesy, hot cover. I’m blaming patriarchy for this.

I almost love that cover! And this story!

2* not my treat STARS!

Tiffany Reisz wrote vanilla romance? Yup. Quite unusual for me to read this Harlequin type because I'm not interested. But, hey this is Tiffany Reisz. She wrote 3 (three) books for this holiday season. I was looking forward to read it, but sadly it didn't met my expectation at all.

Joey Silvia just found out her 2-years boyfriend already married and she ran home with broken heart. Well, she didn't exactly ran because Joey will attend her brother's wedding in Oregon. A good friend advised her to 'bang' a hottie to forget the ex. Apparently, that person is her old friend, Chris Steffensen. He turns into delicious young blond man who still makes her breathless and the old spark begins to flame again.

Is Joey likable enough? She did good at first. Have a successful job but suck in relationship. I don't know why I didn't like her towards the end. Maybe because there's nothing interesting? However, Chris was the one who caught my attention. He, Joey and her brother, Dillon are best friend since high school. Chris has a good job and became business partner with Dillon. He still has crush towards Joey and vice versa. I think the benefit was because they're already know each other.

There were so much sex happened. Like in every chapter. Their 'relationship' happened so fast and it scared her. But I didn't like the story. So cheesy and nonsense to my taste. They just met again after years and suddenly in love with each other. So, where is the halloween vibe? It's Joey's birthday also her brother want to get married in the same date. Nothing special. Excited at first then boring until the end. Still a great writing from Ms. Reisz, just not the story.

I wanted to read HER HALLOWEEN TREAT on Halloween since I didn’t do anything else to mark the holiday. This is fine; a nice enough read but I wasn’t hooked.

I docked an additional star because the heroine is biracial Mexican-American; the only indication of rep is the one sentence that explains her father’s Mexican heritage and the two descriptions of brown skin. I talked to a friend about my frustrations with the nonexistent rep and her response (she read it recently in audio) was, “Crap, I didn’t even realize that she wasn’t white!”

Yeah. That’s when we clearly have a problem. Losing all tolerance for this type of nonexistent (blink and you miss it) rep written by white authors.

Joey had the shock of her life when she found out her boyfriend of two years is actually married. Going home to the family’s lake cabin for her brother’s wedding provides the perfect getaway to lick her wounds. Meeting up with Chris, her brother’s best friend, who’s turned into a super hot lumberjack, makes forgetting her cheating, lying ex very easy. How did she not know that Chris was such a bossy, sexy, dirty talker?

Chris was in love with Joey, the younger sister of his best friend, since high school, so hearing she’d be coming back for a visit, Chris wanted Joey’s family cabin fixed up just right. Chris is ecstatic that he’s finally caught Joey’s attention, and he’s determined to keep her!

I love the idea of fixing up an old fashioned cabin by the lake, and from the description Chris was very talented in many ways *waggles eyebrows*! Chris and Joey’s connection was easy and fast. Since they were together so much as teenagers they knew each other well even after all the years gone by. Chris and Joey had chemistry to spare and together they were wickedly hot! Oh my, Tiffany Reisz can write some scorching scenes!

Fall is one of my favorite times year, with the crisp cold edge in the air, and the changing color of leaves, and Ms. Reisz made this setting come alive with her vivid writing! I wanted to bolt out of town to go stay in a woodsy mountain cabin! I could just about smell the pine as I read:

Sunlight trickled through the high canopy of towering Douglas firs and red cedar trees. Ferns and bear grass lined the edge of the trail like a soft green fence. The last week of rain had left the trails muddy and the air scented with pine and cedar and everything clean and alive.

Her Halloween Treat
was a sweet and super hot second chance romance! I was immediately hooked and could’ve easily read this in one sitting with it being 224 pages. I can’t wait for the next Men at Work story: Her Naughty Holiday !

4 "My treat." Stars

Tiffany Reisz writes good erotica. Period. Her Halloween Treat comes as the first in the Men at Work series from Harlequin Blaze featuring a sexy, alpha contractor and a neurotic marketing superstar nursing a broken heart. The story, on the shorter side and told from the 3rd person point of view, showcases Reisz' signature style of story telling and character development. It's always so easy to get lost in her worlds.

Chris and Joey are friends who haven't seen each other in ten years. Joey's the little sister of Chris's gay best friend. Upon seeing each other again friendship and easy banter turn to scorching lust very quickly as the two navigate their more mature feelings. It's pure erotica told in the witty way only Reisz can provide. These two volley words back and forth so easily and quickly you'll smile the entire time. It's a purely entertaining and fun read. It got a little wordy and redundant through the middle with some of Joey's history and inner musings but that didn't make me lose interest in the overall story. And the secondary cast, Joey's best friend Kira especially, make for excellent breaks in the developing love story.

Being the first of three in this new Men at Work trilogy, Her Halloween Treat starts us off on the right path. Sexy alpha hero who's sexy and alpha in bed carrying a torch for the one girl he could never get. A sarcastic, down and out heroine who sees something new in friend found again after so many years. With a lovely setting steaming up the windows in a cabin in the woods this new Reisz story is pure entertainment guaranteed to delight any erotica romance lover. I'm very much looking forward to the next two installments.

This book was heaven to me. I mean, look at this combination: Tiffany Reisz-one of my #TopAuthorsEver and Rom-Com, my #TopGenreEver. As always, Tiffany’s writing is exceptional, and despite the lightness in this plot, she could leave one or two drops of wisdom and that made me so happy.

If you did breath in on a rainy, windy day you might just smell what the world smelled like right after it was born.

*sighhhh* I loooove it!!

With Her Halloween Treat she created a funny, sexy and romantic story about a young woman who was lied for two years by an asshole and now she’s heartbroken and not ready to face the happy moment of her big brother, who will get married in two weeks. But her best friend, Kiki—I LOVE her, she’s the best kind of BFFF everyone should have—told her that she needed a rebound and she needed it now. But despite Joey’s hesitation about doing that—it wasn’t her style—she ended up doing what her friend told her to do: Get over one guy by getting under another. And this is when Chris enters the story. They’ve known each other for so many years now and she knew he had a huge crush on her when they were in high school, but nothing ever happened. He wasn’t her type… Until now…

I loved reading every word of this book. There were so many jokes that cracked me up— the three dreamy guys were my favorite *chuckles* —the internal dialogue of both characters was awesome:

Go home, Brain, you’re drunk on lust.

And the bantering between the two of them was simply the best:
“Fine. I’ll leave the hammering to you”
“Good.”
“That wasn’t a sex joke.”
“It should have been.”

RFLMAO

I could go on but everyone has to read this book and enjoy it as much as I did. I loved everything, the plot, the development of the story, the romanticism as much as the erotism—here come some Original Sinners Series references—and I have to be honest, I was expecting one ending but what happened was nothing of what I thought it would.

PS: I’m pretty sure Tiffany used the model on the cover as muse for Chris, because his physical description fits perfectly to Chris’s.

I asked for recommendations for contemporary romances with excellent banter - and this was recommended by 2 separate people. All of my friends that have read this have rated it 4-5 stars. It's obviously very well liked.

Except by me. The conversations feel forced. The characters' motivations feel weird. I don't buy any chemistry between them. And I'm rolling my eyes hardcore almost every other page.

Here's an example of a conversation (taking place while they're making out - and it's so un-sexy I can't even):

"You're not supposed to be this sexy," she said.

"Sorry?"

"I accept your apology."

"I'll never do it again."

"See that you don't."

"Do you want to take your shirt off?"

"That's not fair. I only have a bra on under my shirt. You had a T-shirt on under yours."

Chris sighed, a put-upon sigh. Then he took his T-shirt off.

"Better?"

"Much, much better."

**kissing, petting, etc**

"You feel amazing," he whispered. "And you smell amazing."

"What do I smell like?"

"Like you did in high school. Like cookies."

She laughed as he nipped at her neck. "It's my perfume. It's vanilla-scented. In high school I just used vanilla extract. I couldn't afford perfume."

"You smell good enough to eat. You always did."

"I'm not going to say it. You're not going to make me say it."

"Say it. You know you want to."

"Eat me, then," she said.

Maybe it's just me.

I read this entire book thinking it was self-published. I was very surprised to learn that it wasn't. While the book was not poorly written, it rated low in terms of story, steam and smut.

The banter between the two MCs needed to be cut in half and replaced with actual conversation. I'm not sure how these two characters fell in love considering all they did was attempt to out-wit one another and reminisce about high school. Those two things don't typically equate to love. There's no actual relationship development in this book but I'm supposed to believe these 2 are meant to be. Whatever.

Moving on to the sex scenes. The characters kept talking about how wild and sexy they were together in the bedroom.... uhhh... I didn't get that AT ALL. It read robotic and uninteresting to me. Furthermore, I never, ever want to read the word 'vulva' in a smut book. That word, no matter the context, will never be sexy to me.

In terms of story development, this book was smut pretending not to be which resulted in a super duper boring plot with repetitive content. It should have just stuck to smut.

2 stars because the writing wasn't bad.

You're the queen, Tiffany Reisz!

Slick's review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

Words cannot describe how much I loved Tiffany Reisz's Her Halloween Treat; it was sexy, smart and had so much humor that I found myself laughing out loud often. But guys, the sexy parts...holy smokes!! I loved that this couple had history with the hero being her big brother's best friend and protector all through high school, that they shared something special many years ago, that he had a crush on her back in the day, that she appreciated him for the way he got his life together and for the man he is today and that together they found love despite the obstacles in their way.

Joey (please don't call me Jolene, especially right now) is headed back to Oregon for her brother's wedding to his partner and to say the trip back has been eventful is putting it mildly. Joey just got the shock of her life and she is feeling raw and emotional, but her best friend, Kira, encourages her to find a man, enjoy her time away from work and her life, and to "have insane, hot, totally meaningless sex until you remember what a goddess you are...." She is shocked when she arrives and her brother's cabin and finds it totally remodeled and her brother's best friend, Chris, putting on the finishing touches. Realizing that Chris has changed for the better in so many ways makes Joey's lady parts stand up and take notice.

Chris can tell that Joey isn't quite herself, but he still finds her as beautiful as ever. He knows he needs to talk to her about the job he, her brother and her brother's partner want to offer her, but he feels like she needs some time to just adjust to being back home. What he doesn't expect is for the time they spend together to turn his adolescent fantasies into reality. Let me just say that Chris was one smokin' hot dirty talking with a bit of a dominate streak but, he was also a guy with a heart of gold.

I loved the history between these two and all the good memories they have of their time as children and then teenagers. While Joey isn't quite in the best place in her life being around Chris makes her happier, makes her feel free and makes her want to have a fling; lucky for her Chris in on board with that idea. These two laughed a lot, shared so much from their early lives together, and from the years they've been apart and through it all they managed to sneak in some pretty sexy times all of which just made this book a joy to read. I'll admit I worried about Chris quite a bit as it was obvious he'd never quite gotten over his crush on Joey; that only make him work harder to try and convince her not only they were worth it and to help her realize how much she missed being close to her family.

Tiffany Reisz isn't tricking her readers with this one; friends to lovers, a bit of soul searching, an 80's themed gay wedding, and fun in and out of the bedroom made Her Halloween Treat one fantastic romance.

As a huge fan of Tiffany Reisz's Original Sinners series of course I wanted to read this new trilogy the minute I heard about it. I always know I'm in for a hot read with Tiffany's books but Her Halloween Treat was much lighter and more funny than her other series, it's still hot as hell but it's also full of humorous banter and an adorable romance. It's not often I give full 5 star ratings to contemporary romance stories, it takes something a bit special to get the top rating, but this story totally deserves it - it hit the spot perfectly and I enjoyed every single minute of it.

Joey decided to surprise her long-distance boyfriend when she was travelling home from Hawaii to Oregon for her brother's wedding so she stopped off in LA for a flying visit. Only to find him at home in the loving arms of his wife, yes that's right, her boyfriend of two years was already married, he just never bothered to mention the fact. Understandably heartbroken she heads to her family cabin early planning to lick her wounds alone before the wedding ceremony. What she wasn't expecting was to bump into her brother's best friend Chris when she got there. The nerdy boy she used to know has grown up into a total hottie and like her best friend is always saying "the best way to get over a man is to get under a new one" so she decides Chris is the perfect guy to have a holiday fling with before she's forced to go back to reality and working with her cheating ex.

I absolutely adored this couple, they have brilliant chemistry but they also have a strong friendship and a lot of history together. The banter between them was hilarious right from the get go and I could happily have read a book with double the number of pages just to spend more time with them. Chris always had a thing for Joey and now that she's finally noticed him he's going to do everything in his power to show her how good they'd be together on a permanent basis. I completely fell for the main couple but I also loved the side characters, Joey's best friend Kira was hilarious (please tell me she's going to get a book!) and I really loved her brother and his husband too.

Tiffany Reisz has another hit on her hand with this series and I can't wait to read the next two books!

Unfortunately despite the high ratings this book has, it just didn’t work for me.

The romance never felt believable to me, Chris felt like Joey’s rebound guy, someone she just slept with to get even with her ex, which she found out was married 3 days ago. Yes, Chris had a thing for Joey when they were in high-school but this felt more like a case of revenge on Joey’s side, with some lust thrown in. The sexy times were quite hot though, which is why I still gave it 3stars.

Although this book didn’t work for me, I’m sure others would enjoy this quick and sexy read.

Let's face it here. Tiffany Reisz could probably write the phone book and I would pick it up to see how she did, because the girl just has a way.

that said... I didn't enjoy this book as much as I do my OS crew, and I don't know if it's because of the short length or what.

typical Tiffany wit and banter, the best way to get over one guy...is to get under another, amen sister!?!!

fun story, I enjoyed!!! 4 stars

This was 100% pure fun. And obviously the Mt. Hood/Portland setting was super fun for me too! Looking forward to the rest in the series.

Was in a fall mood and this delivered.

This was quick, fun, and steamy but nothing memorable. And Halloween was barely mentioned, unfortunately and the title got my hopes up lol.

Her Halloween Treat is the first of three Harlequin Blaze books in the Men at Work series by Tiffany Reisz. If the next ones in the series are as good as this one, they'll get top billing on my bookshelf as fun, sexy reads starring down to earth blue-collar heroes.

Joey just discovered that her boyfriend of two years is married. Sure, it seemed strange that while they worked together in Hawaii Ben never wanted her to visit his actual home in L.A. but she never in her wildest dreams imagined the real reason why. With her brother Dillon getting married to his boyfriend Oscar back in Oregon on Halloween (coincidentally also her birthday), it’s just the vacation she needs to lick her wounds and figure out what to do next. First stop – a visit to the peace and quiet of the family cabin – that just happens to have been beautifully renovated by her brother Dillon’s best friend Chris. Chris is no longer the scrawny, geeky Nirvana loving teenager she knew. Well, he might still love Nirvana but he’s grown into a very handsome, hardworking builder/carpenter/good with his hands kind of guy. And when he offers to put those hands on her, Joey’s not about to say no. She’s had her heart broken once though, and while a sexy fling with Chris might help her heal, she's got no plans to move back to Oregon even if her brother Dillon wants her to consider coming to work for him and his new lake resort business. Can Chris convince her that their newfound relationship is not a trick but a treat that could last a lifetime?

This book is really funny. The words that come out of these characters’ mouths made me laugh out loud numerous times. It definitely will be on my list of favourite romantic comedies of 2016. The circumstances of Joey’s breakup are dealt with in a fairly lighthearted vein, and clearly her ex Ben is a jerk. Meeting Chris again, and finding herself attracted to him (and definitely vice versa) is the ego boost Joey needs and a reminder that there are still good guys out there. Chris is a sweetheart of a hero – but he’s also got some sexy alpha male tendencies and puts those to good use with Joey. The result is several super steamy scenes between them. Chris knows Joey’s on the rebound, and that the fling they are having is a short term affair but it doesn’t change his reality – that he was in love with Joey back in high school and he’s falling in love with her all over again. In a way it’s an insta-love story and in a way it’s not. These two have a strong history of friendship and affection even if they haven’t seen each other in years. It’s not surprising that those feelings come to the surface as they interact as adults, and just add to the emotions brought on by their sexual affair.

Besides the romance building between Chris and Joey, and the upcoming wedding between Dillon and Oscar, there are two other relationships that are equally important to the story. Joey’s brother Dillon came out as gay in high school. While Joey supported him wholeheartedly during that difficult period in his life, so did Chris. Chris became Dillon’s personal bodyguard and at the cost of his own teenage reputation, defended Dillon from the bullies who used Dillon’s sexuality as an excuse to attack him. This story treats the reality of being a gay teen and the difficulties encountered as a result with respect, and is the note of seriousness in an otherwise humorous affair. They remained friends through high school and beyond, and Chris's contracting business is key to the success of Dillon's resort plans. The bromance between Chris and Dillon is funny and full of shared history. And what I really appreciated was the lack of posturing on Dillon’s side with respect to his friend sleeping with his sister. He treats his sister as an adult – she can sleep with whom she chooses. None of this ‘keep your hands off my sister or else’ attitude.

The other friendship of note is Joey and her best friend Kira. Kira is hilarious. She’s exactly the kind of girlfriend you want to have. Her advice to Joey, once she finds out about Ben is to get under a new man as soon as possible. Kate encourages her to follow her heart, but gives some practical advice too. She’s the constant in Joey’s life and I really enjoyed those scenes (phone and text conversations) of sisterhood.

Joey is at a crossroads in her life. Her brother Dillon wants her to stay in Oregon and help him manage his new business. She and Chris obviously are compatible in the bedroom and out. But her home and her job are in Hawaii, and leaving that will mean letting her ex Ben win. Plus, she knows she’s on the rebound and the feelings she’s having for Chris are tempered by that knowledge. The second half of the story while just as funny as the first half (and including a wonderful '80s themed wedding for Dillon and Oscar on Halloween), puts Joey’s new found feelings to the test as she has to make some decisions about her future. The setting of the story is lovely, a picturesque mountainous area of Oregon that is well described and very enticing. If you are looking for a funny, steamy romance with likable, believable characters, you'll find it with Her Halloween Treat! I look forward to reading more of this series.

Series: Men at Work #1 (standalone)
Genre: Contemporary, Friends to Lovers Romance

:: 4.5 Pretty Little Stars ::

SQUEE!!! I loved this book to PIECES. I never thought I would read a Harlequin romance because honestly, I thought they were all the same and I don’t like to read the same stuff over and over again. But oh boy, I was in for a DELGHTFUL surprise with this book. Gah, it is so much fun, sexy as hell, and features my favorite type of man candy -those bearded lumbersexuals- hehe! What also makes this book wholly worthwhile is that it is sort of Halloween themed. Yea you don’t get witches, goblins, and ghosts, but you do get a picturesque idea of the fall, during the Halloween season, on the beautiful countryside in the woods. Cripes, I loved it so much I wish I could be there. Anyway, this book is definitely worth the read and I will certainly be picking up the next two novels in the series which revolve around Thanksgiving and Christmas. I can’t wait!!!

So this story is a friends to lovers, Halloween romance. The setting is absolutely beautiful and readers can easily imagine that they are sitting in a cabin by the lake in the middle of Fall. The author does a wonderful job painting this picture and making readers want to visit a place like this on their own. This story also follows Jolene (aka Joey) and Chris. After breaking up with her boyfriend of two years because she found out he was married, Joey escapes back to her hometown for some much needed relief. Not only that though, she needs to be at her brother’s wedding which takes place on Halloween. But much to her surprise, she gets more than she bargained for when she runs into a childhood friend who is renovating the very cabin she is staying in for two weeks.

Chris is the type of man that any woman would fall for. He is tall, buff, and totally gorgeous with that beard of his. Of course, having good looks and a winning personality isn’t everything though. The one woman he has always wanted and essentially got away is back in town. So he has to make it his mission to get her back. And for good this time,

Filled with a lot of humor, a lot of sass, and a TON of sexiness, Her Halloween Treat is sure to delight many readers. This is definitely one of my favorite books of the season and therefore, I highly recommend it to fellow readers!!

HER HALLOWEEN TREAT kicks off Reisz’ new Men at Work series. This book is part of the Blaze line, which I think is interesting because I thought Reisz was trying to step away from Erotic Romance for a while. However, with this book she proves that she is made for writing the hotter, more sinful stories.

His book features Joey Silva who has just learned that the man has been dating for two years is actually married. Yup, say it with me what a douche! So she’s returned home to recuperate and try to get over Ben.

There she encounters an old high school friend named Chris and well, Chris has grown up to become quite the stud. He becomes the rebound but it’s quick to see that there’s more to these two than just lust and trying to take the edge off. As much as they try to keep things casual, their emotions run deep.

I really enjoyed this book. Reisz excels are witty banter and this book is rife with it. And when I mean rife, I mean it’s JAM PACKED with crazy back and forth. This is a great thing, and something that I think sets Reisz’s books apart from the crowd, but I also think it can be this book’s greatest flaw as well. She does sexy banter well, but I do think that too much banter during the sex scenes can also ruin the pacing. All of the scenes in this book deliver on the hotness but when the characters are talking about what sex position they are going to try this time, it kind of takes you out of the scene sometimes. What’s wrong with just doing it? Do they have to map out every little thing? Dirty talk is one thing, but sometimes I did feel like I was reading about a couple reading out a kama sutra or something. Let’s skip the instructions and just do it!

All that being said, this book really is amazing. I loved Chris. I loved Joey. I loved Kira. I loved Dillion. I really do think Erotic Romance is Tiffany Reisz’s thing. She just needs to write more stories like this.

Her Halloween Treat was an enjoyable read overall, but i failed to love it.

Our hero was unique, lovely, sweet and funny, he was most certainly the highlight of the book. What let it down for me was the banter, it was good, but sometimes just too much and ended up feeling false. When things got more serious in terms of angst and life, it was more enjoyable. As was the addition of the side characters.

I'll definitely read the others in the series, it was a good book to chill out with.
