It was very difficult to do anything else except read this book today.

Jason
Summer

I was totally drawn to Jason for all kinds of reasons. His gentleness but his inner demons surfacing to where he may need the continued help of Dexter.

“Dexter, I’ve done it again”
“Do you need help?”

Summer was married to Jason’s best friend who has died. Since then, she’s been revealed a secret.
Devastating news.

Jason has always been there for Summer.

Jason loves Summer but he has secrets from her, dark secrets.

As the author reveals them bit by bit like taking off a plaster/band aide that’s been stuck to your body for ages and each pull stings and hurts you more, that’s how I was feeling as I got to know and understand Jasons dark side.

He seemed at times very dark, bit scary yet I knew deep down there were things in his past relating to this.

It’s definitely an over 18 book because of the graphic details the author goes into on several matters.

A first book I’ve read by this author that took my attention via the blurb.
My curiosity won out. Very good well written deep read.

My second Tracie Podger book now and I enjoyed it as much as the first.

It’s a difficult read and some parts are uncomfortable and distressing. I finished the book feeling like the ending was rushed but actually I think even another 300 pages wouldn’t have been enough as I felt invested in all the characters and didn’t want it to end!

I’d recommend this but read this blurb first as it handles some sensitive issues.

At time of posting this book is available on Kindle Unlimited.

When I read Letters to a Lincoln by this author I truly believed she couldn’t write another story that would break me. I was wrong.

I started this one night expecting to read a few chapters and put it down. Again I was wrong. I ended up sitting into the early hours of the morning to read it all. I could not put it down.

Jackson and Summers story is do heart breaking I felt my heart was being pulled apart. My heart aches so much for those two.

I’m not gonna go into the storyline- read the blurb and heed the trigger warning. If your like me and you love a story full of angst then I highly I mean HIGHLY recommend you read Jackson. Tracie has written another amazing read. I can’t wait to see what else she has up her sleeve.

Favorite Quotes:

In one way he was so vulnerable, in another so brutal. He was a contradiction.

I chuckled bitterly at the checkout— my basket was full of the usual break-up crap. I had two tubs of ice cream, a bottle of wine, and chocolate.

You know what we could do? We could pretend that we’re practicing to get pregnant…

My Review:

Jackson is the type of book I generally avoid yet I felt the lure and sirens’ call of an intriguing and emotive Tracie Podger story. I needed to take occasional reading breaks and put my Kindle down, as the narrative was an angsty, gritty, dark, disquieting, sensual, and cringe-worthy tale that was several steps outside of my comfort zone. Yet while I was fraught with tension and found my shoulders in my ears a few times, the end result was well worth my anguish and inner conflict. The character of Jackson had been severely traumatized throughout his childhood, which resulted in disturbing and self-destructive behaviors that only worsened and mushroomed unabated into adulthood. I experienced a full spectrum of feels while reading as in turn I was fascinated, frustrated, repulsed, intrigued, distressed, relieved and elated. Tracie Podger seems remarkably adept in excavating intense emotion from her readers as well as her broken characters before yielding their transformation and redemption. Angst will never be among my favorite things but I am willing to cowgirl-up under the right circumstances, and I am ever so glad I decided this was one of them.

Boy, can this lady write. I adore her style and in Jackson we have yet another tale that it emotive and sexy, yet heartbreaking as well.

I adored every minute of this tale.

Now to beg her please for 'the wayward kids' story. Pretty please.

The plot of the story is nothing new, even predictable. I admit that I was expecting more from the heroine above all. Summer is not the main heroine in my taste; 60% was just crying for every shit.. As a young widow who just lost her husband did not really mourn.( when a problem shows she was crying and escaping ...)
Jack is a man full of demons who lead him to the extreme edge, but he is saved by the help of his friends and think and love for Summer.

I don't know, something is missing in this story ,it dindn't pull me in like all the others from this author.

Firstly this is a definite 18 and over read, which tackles a really difficult subject and has very intimate and graphic sexual scenes in it.
The cover of this book is perfect as tattoos are a way of telling someone’s journey in life. Jackson’s tattoos do far more than that, Jackson’s tattoos tell a story of a secret life, you just have to read in between the lines.
From my very first Tracie Podger book I read I have loved each one, as I find myself whisked away and tangled with a story that I don’t want to escape from. They are raunchy with a hunk of a man who rises the temperature in any room, well Jackson has a little bit more, he can be a bit scary to say the least but he has found a way to satisfy his needs, just not in a good way.
When Jackson’s best mate tragically dies he steps up to the mark to watch over the widow he left behind, Summer. She is having to come to terms not just with the death of the only man she has ever loved but also a dark secret that he has kept hidden from her. Now very public knowledge that threatens everything that she has. Two broken people, one of them with dangerous uncontrollable desires.
This is an additional direction for this author’s usual books and wow has she nailed it. This story has the passion that previous novels had but takes trust issues to a whole new level. It really has its hold your breath moments for all the right and wrong reasons. I won’t spoil the story to say what secrets are being hidden just to say this happens so much but such a taboo subject. Jackson is such a strong man for Summer but so fragile inside.
This is as much of a healing journey as it is a love story for both Jackson and Summer. A stand alone novel that made me hold my breath and made my heart skip a beat or two right to the last sentence. A brilliant story.
I wish to thank Tracie Podger for an ARC of this book which I have reviewed honestly

Wow! What a story!
There was so much to Jackson. He really was a kind and thoughtful man. This became more and more apparent as the story went on. His feelings for Summer were there from the word go but she was only ever interested in the man she married.
Once Summer was widowed the friendship began to develop and it becomes apparent that they both feel the attraction but so much stands in their way...

Wow! Tracie out did herself with this book! It's different from her other books.
Jackson is a cutter and his friend Summer knows nothing about it, or the abuse that he went through growing up so before thing get complicated he takes off for America.
Through the whole book she explains what he goes through everyday and then Summer comes for a visit and all heck breaks lose.
Will Jackson and Summer have a future together or will this problem that he has be the end?
If you love this author's books, this is one that you need to read!!
Well done!!

This is one hell of a gripping story; well written and full of breath-holding, edge of the seat moments. Tracie Podger writes so well, this story is fluent and interesting; with good characters and intriguing events.

I really became engaged with the characters in this story; Jackson is so confused, he has such anger and yet he is such a gentle man, caring and considerate. I loved the way he cared for Summer, looking after her and putting her first. I loved the way he always opened the car door for her, the way he held her in his arms as she slept….so loving. His dark side is dark and when he loses it, well it had me scared for him.

Summer is lovely, I was rooting for her from the start; she’s been through a lot and always had Jackson there for her, her rock. So, when she sees another side to him, she struggles with it, but she is a strong, determined woman and so she fights for Jackson and her own future. I thought she was great.

The other characters in the story Dexter and DJ are so well written that you feel you are there with them every step of the way.
If you are looking for a story, that will keep you enthralled all the way through; that will make you fear the worst and not know what is coming next, but is full of love (and hot sex) then do read this one; you won’t regret it.

Pain is good .... if something beautiful comes out of it!!!

Wow, this book was so good and has left me feeling quite numb, an emotional rollercoaster that has romance, heartbreak, very flawed characters fighting demons in ways it is kind of difficult to understand, very dark secrets, guilt and loads of passion and pain....... and more pain.

Tracie Podger has managed to take an extremely difficult and heartbreaking topic and transfer it into words in a way I have never read before.

Jackson is a page turner that I highly recommend, but it does come with a trigger warning.

Well done Tracie Podger on another masterpiece.

Jackson has known nothing but pain from his past, but Summer was his only good thing. His beauty through the pain.

Excerpt:
...Pain is good if something beautiful comes out of it.

Needless to say, Summer has known her own pain but as truths come from her relationship with Jackson, can she leave her past where it belongs and move forward with it?

The pair have so much to contend with through this story but the moving account (which may contain triggers for some with it’s sad-but-true account of self harm, of bereavement, of pain and addiction) from those Jackson loves and learns to trust. His new family....

Excerpt:
I need you to help me, Summer. I don’t know if you’re able to do that, but he’s spiralling out of control. You are the catalyst, but we need that.

A truly captivating and beautifully written, dual perspective from our two main characters. I adore this authors work and this book just shows her talent of bringing the light through the dark. Just brilliant.

Final excerpt:
She’d never understand the compulsion to cover my skin. To cover the scars from the razor blade or the imaginary scars from the psychological abuse. People expressed their pain in many ways; mine was to transform myself, to cover every inch of my skin he, or I, had f**ked with...

An absolute must read of 2017 for me.

Two beautifully flawed people fight their demons to come together for the future they both deserve. Jackson was abused by his father because the man blamed him for the death of his wife during childbirth. His only true allies are his sister and his deceased best friend's wife, Summer. Both have a problem admitting their love for each other, Summer because she's recently widowed and Jackson because he harbors too many dark secrets. This story is a beautiful journey to join the two soul mates and heal their hearts.
Ms. Podger weaves a tale of secrets, guilt, angst, and passion. Her characters are brilliantly developed and highly likable. The secondary characters add color and flavor to the mix. The misfits, as Jackson calls them, provide him with a sense of belonging and family. The banter between the characters is lively and often shows the reader an unexpected side of Jackson.
The story is well paced and pulls the reader into the action by the heartstrings and refuses to set the reader free until the very last page

Another fantastic book by this author. Is there anything she cannot write...?
Jackson is such a great story, heartbreaking too, I love Tracie’s writing she draws you into the book and does not let go until the last page. I went to bed last night and kept thinking I need to read more.

I adored every minute of this book. The topic in this book is hard to read my heart really did break for Jackson. You feel his pain. Yet I have to say I think he is my favourite character of Tracie’s to date.
I am not going to say much about the story as I think you should go on Jackson journey and live through him through Tracie’s words.

It is a beautiful story of two broken characters for different reasons. Soul mates brought together to heal. They are very likeable characters and well developed. The other characters are so likeable too.

This story will pull at your heartstrings so have some tissues handy. Enjoy this beautiful story.

Having previously read and absolutely adored Letters to Lincoln, I went into Jackson with high expectations. At times I really struggled with the read, at the beginning I struggled to connect with the characters but the more I read and understood, the more I got hooked to the story. Take notice of the trigger warning attached to this book - at times Tracie writes in quite graphic detail about self-harm and addiction which to some people could be quite hard reading.

I loved the setting of California, Jackson's house sounds gorgeous! I would to visit and just be at the beach!

I loved the character of Summer, in some ways I related to her quite a lot. There were moments in the book where she cried an awful lot but I think that just shows the raw emotion she was going through. I couldn't imagine what it would be like to watch someone you love hurt themselves over and over. Jackson was the character I did struggle to like however the more I knew his history the more I admired him. Any man covered in tattoos is always attractive to me anyway!

I love Tracie's writing style, it sucks you in to the story and even when I did struggle, I didn't want to put it down.

This book is not just a love story - it's a journey through grief and on the road to recovery/healing. Both of the characters are grieving but they deal with it in different ways. To me, this book felt very real.

Loved this one - fabulous characters as always from this author!

Emotional, enthralling and at times a difficult read - this is a modern day story of damaged souls where the author skillfully and sensitively tackles difficult subjects including self harming. Dark yet uplifting and one that will stay with the reader long after the book is closed.

How much torment and pain from abuse can one person take? When it comes from the one man who is supposed to love and care for you the most, it can be devastating. In the struggle to keep moving Jackson had built many walls and used many methods to cope. It was unhealthy and unsafe. When he finds himself in love with his deceased best friends wife he feels he needs to leave and get himself straightened out. Then maybe he can let her know his true feelings.

Summer is still struggling with the loss of her cheating dead husband. Trying to figure out what to do with her life now. A visit across the country to see Jackson turns out to be life changing in so many ways. Learning of Jackson's secrets and vowing to help him overcome.

We get to watch these two come together through the emotionally charged story. Loss, heartache and pain can turn to hope, strength and love if you find the right person. It is anything but a smooth easy ride but in the end every bit is worth it.

It took a little bit to build up but once Ms Podger had me hooked, I struggled to put it down. The secondary characters are very strong and help to make the book what it is. I love that even though the topic matter of the book is quiet heavy, there is plenty of banter to keep you giggling and smiling from time to time between sadness.

Will Jackson find his light in Summer?

Tracie Podger certainly knows how to write a story that will keep her audience stuck in their seats. JACKSON is one of those stories. I was completely spellbound from beginning to end.

Jackson is one of those characters that remains with you long after the story is over. This is a man with demons, that can make him very very dark, but inside of him is also a softer gentler man who will simply make your heart melt. Summer was just beautiful. She's had a rough life, but there has always been that one constant - Jackson. Together they cause a roller coaster of emotions to be experienced.

This is a story that will most definitely break your heart - but it is one that absolutely MUST be read. Take head of the trigger warning, it is definitely there for a reason and should be followed.

I’ve just finished this book and all I can say is wow. This is an awesome book and kept me gripped from beginning to end. I couldn’t put it down, who needs sleep anyway!
Jackson is broken, he has suffered all his life. He can’t escape the years of torment by his father, but he is willing to try, for her. Summer is the only woman he has ever been in love with. He has always thought himself incapable of love, but not now. I love Jackson’s passion, whether it’s his love for Summer or his artwork.
When Summer stops and thinks she realises she can’t be without him. She realises he is the only man she has truly loved. It crept up on her so slowly she didn’t realise. I love her determination to be there for Jackson and her unwavering confidence that she can help fix him.
The is one almighty great read. It gives hope to anyone who is broken that with love and determination anything is possible

Wow this book - amazing. Another hit from Tracie. So very well written, Tracie has a way of drawing you into the story and her brilliant characters that she write's. Emotional, heartbreaking, beautiful, consuming, tragic and sad but so worthy of your time to devour.

Jackson is a broken man and Summer is full of guilt. Both suffering for different reasons, they know each other because Jackson was best friends with her now dead husband. Two soulmates that are bought together by a journey full of emotion, angst, secrets and guilt that is slowly consuming and destroying them both. Each find something in the other person that draws on their resources and this leads them on the road to help them heal but what a bumpy road it is.

The subject matter in this book is difficult to read at times and had my heart breaking for Jackson but that is what I love about Tracie, she keeps it real and deals with problems that really does happen to people - sad and devastating as that may seem, but true none the less.

A page turner that you must read because it is so raw and passionate and books like these really need to be experienced and "felt" and this book certainly does that.

Pain is good - if something beautiful comes out of it !!!

Well done Tracie !!!

This is the first full length novel that I have read by Tracie Podger and it certainly won’t be the last. Jackson made my heart ache all the way throughout this story. This man has more baggage than Heathrow Airport and I wasn’t certain that he would ever be able to put his past behind him.

This is not an easy story to read, but sadly Jackson’s story is someone’s reality and I must thank the author for not shying away from writing those tough scenes. I understood why Jackson’s childhood affected him so badly - no child should ever go through what he did. Witnessing his coping strategies affected me and I’m certain they will affect you too, but I loved how the author explained the reasons for his actions and I appreciated that she included even the smallest of details.

I loved the complexity of Jackson and Summer’s relationship. These two friends have had feelings for each other for quite some time but they both fear that taking the next step may result in their friendship ending, plus it is not only Jackson that has demons to put to rest. I have to thank Summer for loving Jackson so much, that she was willing to put her own needs and fears to one side and be there for him even if that meant spending time apart. As I’ve said, Jackson has tons of baggage which he has kept hidden from so many people and I admire Summer for not running scared as she learns just how bad things can be for him. All I wanted was to see them both happy as they truly deserve nothing less.

I certainly recommend this book to you to read but please take note of the trigger warning. I would love to learn more about Dexter and D-J and hope that if their stories have not already been written, that the author may consider doing so in the future.

3.5 stars!!

This was a very emotional story. I loved that there was so much more to Jackson then meets the eye. This was a story of two broken souls that use each other to heal. It’s crazy because I think these two loved each other long before it was acceptable but they remained good friends. I am not a big fan of Summer’s. I tried but she just didn’t cut it for me but my heart broke at the beginning for her because of that douche of a husband she had.

Now, Jackson, on the other hand I adore him in a unusual way. Of course he is broken so I want to fix him but the shit he has been through, well I think he has just found a way to cope. Except he really didn’t did he?!!! I will say I dislike his father very much. And the whole Honey thing, I totally get it unlike Summer did.

Going into this book for some reason I imagined something different. But I rode with it and continued on. The beginning just didn’t pull me in and then I began to skim and just could not really get invested. I should have been way more emotional then I was and it is not lack of this authors talent. Because her words spelled it out but I think the plot just didn’t connect me or maybe it was just one little thing off. It does sadden me because this author is one of my favorites!!

There are a lot of good reviews for this book so I think you all should give it a go and let me know how you felt. And honestly I think I will come back with a whole new set of
eyes in a couple weeks and try again. All the wordage was there and I did feel things I just wasn’t invested.

I would like to thank Tracie Podger & TBC for allowing me to read this new book of hers.

When I started to read this, I wasn't sure what the storyline was about. But as Icarried on reading, it became obvious of Jackson's character and how much pain he was in. Summer is in pain for a different reason but what they both need is each other. Read if Summer and Jackson can overcome their problems and if they can co-exist with each other or are they forever doomed to never be together.

Can't wait to see if Tracie Podger will write the Passion series and if she'll do other books from the other characters in this series.

Jackson and Summer what a combination as always this author is amazing with her description and analysis behind her characters stories and pasts, this is truly breathtaking and awe inspiring.

The subjects in this book make this a very marmite subject and honestly will either make this one of your most loved books or one you would struggle with so definitely checking reviews are key.

Jackson and Summer both have very troubled souls and pasts for different reasons. With the support of friends and family can they find a way through this to defeat the demons within?

Jackson

5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A beautiful written story packed with emotions of all kinds. Some true heartbreaking moments in this book and I couldn’t get enough of it. (Call me cold hearted if you like).

Jackson and Summer have had feelings for each other for so long, it’s now just a part of their everyday life. But there comes a time when you just have to tell the love of your life how you really feel. What will happen when Jackson tells Summer of the way he feels? What will Summer do, how will she react? Your just going to have to read for yourself and find out.

Both characters are strong willed and determined and very likeable. Each know what they want and strive to get it. Failure isn’t an option.

Another amazing read from this author, who makes reading easy and a pleasure. Highly recommended.
