Oil prices are at historic lows, and Russian President Vladimir Putin is determined to do something about this in David Joseph’s curious little novelette. The idea is to attack shipping and infrastructure at several Persian Gulf chokepoints, laying the blame on ISIS and Iran.

Joseph’s fictional Putin is portrayed as every bit as devious and unscrupulous as the genuine article, casually ordering the murder of his enemies, or even of people who just know too much. He also likes to give away watches, knives, and other expensive baubles, again like the real Putin. Using an actual world leader as the protagonist in a series of thrillers gives this a nice touch of immediacy.

Joseph provides an interesting cast of supporting characters, particularly among the naval Spetznaz operators tasked with carrying out the clandestine attacks. These are interesting people, and not just types. Their dedication to duty is portrayed as both praiseworthy and, when you consider what they’re doing, a little frightening. It’s hard not to remember that there are real-life counterparts to these people who would carry out even blatantly illegal operations such as these without a second thought, so long as it was framed as their patriotic duty.

This is a good story, well told, and leaves the reader wanting to see what comes next in this series.

A truly stunning read from beginning to end! I've never actually be interested in all of the political "going's on" of our world, and this book essentially makes you think about all of those ideas, people and economies politically and globally effected, that you've never considered before. His writing is very factual, teaching you about different aspects of the planning that goes into each and every critical action that unfolds throughout the story.
I would highly recommend this to any reader with political interests.

Putin’s Chokepoints is a short political thriller written by David Joseph and narrated by Nate Cimmino. I was given a code to download audio book free in exchange for an honest review.

This story has a lot of political information included. Putin’s has a grand plan to raise the price of oil and have it blamed on Islamic extremists. We get a glimpse of Putin’s personality, at least as far as the author understands it. He seems to be a jovial if scary person.

Told well the story raises questions about Putin’s current actions and if he can really be as devious as portrayed. I enjoyed this story and have been looking at Putin’s actions differently than I used too. Not sure that was the intended purpose but that is how if affected me. I recommend this story to those who like political thrillers with in-depth information. Nate Cimmino does a great job reading the story.

A very well written book, with clean narrative, and great dialogue between his characters. I could clearly imagine the look on Putin's face as he spoke, along with his demeanor. The author did well with the plot too, and any fan of the Tom Clancy books would certainly enjoy this work. Great job, and 5*

Mind blowing

While I myself do not know much about military relations or Sabotage, David paints a vivid picture of what a fly on the wall could hear or see in any top officials office. If you enjoy Clancy you will defiantly enjoy Davids writing. My only critique is i would prefer a glossary of terms to go to instead of them explained in the text. otherwise very nice story.

Russian game of deception

An interesting approach to historical fiction. I liked the story and gave it four stars because this contemporary drama seems very plausible.
