Can't get to a class or workshop that's close to home or work? No worries. This skill-building beading book let you learn at your own pace, wherever and whenever you have the time. Beginners and improvers will discover hundreds of detailed photographs, carefully annotated so each step is easy to find. Included are "quick start" projects that don't require much in the way of materials and time. As an added bonus, guest designers share some of their favorites patterns with readers!
Based on the title and cover, I thought this would have a lot of projects in it. It didn't. Another how-to book for beginners by Power. Lots of pretty pictures from top designers of some very lovely jewelry, but not much else besides the usual tools, technique basics, etc. There were all of 6 projects and instructions, none of which appealed to me. Having paged through other books by Power, she seems hyper focused on teaching off loom techniques, especially Peyote and chain stitching. Not one I'd recommend for any level of beader.
Probably not the introductory book to use if you're trying to decide if you want to get involved in the hobby. This is the book to get AFTER you decide you like beading and you want to thoroughly educate yourself from the bottom up one step at a time. This is the best book I've read that fully describes each and every; aspect, tool, skill and even vocabulary for those who are determined to learn the art of beading and jewellery making.
Great read for learning the basics of beading and techniques. It even has examples of beading patterns as well as how to do some wire work. If you are into beading, it is a definite read.
