This so called book is too painful for anyone with respect for the English language to read. I had hoped for some improvement from the first book, but grammar mistakes and multiple run on sentences in the first few paragraphs made it clear this is a lost cause.
I recommend the writer of this drivel pay attention to her spell checker, take some writing lessons, read some good books and find a proofreader and editor.
DO NOT waste your time and money on this series. I am deleting all three of her books that I currently have on my Kindle.

It was better then than expected, and was not expecting the red herring at the end. Although, my money was on a different suspect until the end. Dana's uncle is very unlucky in love.

This is the second book in the series and another easy read. Dana has gotten her granny's cupcake cafe back off the endangered species list and functioning like a going concern. Now she's run into other problems. Her uncle Max has been arrested for the murder of his wife Karla, and Dana just can't let that continue because she's convinced that he's innocent. So once again, Dana starts investigating on her own, in spite of being told not to by the handsome police detective. This time she has even less to go on than in the previous book, but she still manages to solve the case. If you are looking for an easy read, this is the book for you, and it doesn't hurt that a recipe is included.

Overview: Dana Sweet is having a better month than any of the previous ones. At least the people of Berry Cove no longer believe that she killed the food critic who insulted her inherited cafe. But life can't be that simple. Her aunt, Karla, has died of a suspected poisoning. Her Uncle Max is the chief suspect. Who would want Aunt Karla dead? And does this have anything to do with Uncle Max's first wife's death? Let's find out.

Dislikes: The ending of this story seemed to be borderline cheating. The suspects seemed not to be as important to the story as the cafe, or the family drama, was.

Likes: Katie was a bit of a silly co-worker. Her puns are cringy, yet fun.

I appreciate that Dana is trying to keep her grandmother's cupcake cafe running well.

Conclusion: This is a different kind of tale. If you prefer more of a slice of life novel with a mysterious twist, this might be the book for you. Enjoy the read.

From not good (Strawberry Cream Cupcake & Murder) to unbelievable in Blueberry Cream Cupcake & Murder. No real sleuthing was involved. No suspense either. I've read many cozy mysteries and all of them had at least some suspense. Not the Cupcake Murders series, though.

There are many errors in this book, like 'vile' instead of 'vial'. Not to mention incomplete sentences again. Though to be honest & share something positive, there weren't as many incomplete sentences in the Blueberry Cream Cupcake & Murder. The author, Ms. Marie, needs to get a proofreader and an editor.

There are nice sounding recipes at the end of each book so far. That's a nice positive.

I, however, cringe at the thought of the errors in the 3rd book. But I'll read it in the hope it'll be better than books 1 & 2. At least it's short.

I found there was a serious lack of editing for the first three Dana Sweet books. However, I kept reading them! The first one was so much fun, with really engaging characters and a compelling story that I ignored the grammar issues and didn't stop. I will read more by this author and will hope that she can improve her editing skills or hire a professional editor, since the books appear to be self-published.

I purchased all three & read all 3 so will be reviewing all 3 the same. Cupcake & Murder Boxed Set (Dana Sweet Cozy Mysteries Books 1-3) I did enjoy reading about Dana and her relatives. I think she is cute and like reading how she & her cat Truffles solves the murders. I don't know if I will be purchasing the rest but we will see. I may miss Dana & Truffles and her family enough to read more. I do love to have BOXED SETS of books!

This was a pretty good mystery, and the whodunit was a complete surprise, but Dana put things together and figured it out. I liked that Troy started to realize she was good at solving things. The showdown was the kind I like, non-dangerous. I have the third in the series as well and hope to read it soon.

More mistakes

That makes me sad. Edit, edit, edit! These could be a fun read. The recipes sound good, but they use lots of sugar. They are for cupcakes, I guess that is okay.

Overall this is a good new series and I have like both installments so far. The only minor thing I have to say is that they need to be proifread. There are not many mistakes but I have noticed a few extra words and wrong form of a word such as there when it should be their etc. Dana has recently inherited her grandmother's cafe (really it sounds more like a bakery though) so she gives up her life in New York City to save it. The regular cast of characters includes her cousin Katie, who works at the cafe, and her Aunt Nia and Uncle Merv. poor Dana can't seem to stay out of each murder investigation since she shows up in Berry Cove but maybe this is a plus since Detective Troy is such a hunk. Truffles is also a big part of Dana's new life and one of her new best friends, a fluffy cat that she has also inherited from her grandmother. Truffles may not just be an ordinary cat though, she seems to clue Dana in when she is on the right track to solving the murder. This book was a good read and I am waiting to read the next book.

This book is suitable if you're looking for:

-A not-so-deep mystery novel
-A beginner's level to playing detective
-A quick read

One-line summary: A good read but not for real mystery lovers (lacks depth).

I picked this book as a new venture into the mystery genre. Although this was my first real mystery novel, I think this work lacks depth and target audience is probably pre-teens. The clues and hints provided throughout the story weren't very cohesive or conclusive. At the end of the story, some hints/scenes were not explained. There were also scenes which were not explained clearly, leaving me rather lost. I also found some minor typos and grammatical errors throughout this book.

The cat is the sleuth

I usually enjoy culinary copies, but as I read this one, I realized I'd read another in this series where the cat is the real brains of the investigative team.
