Part of the Diseases & Disorders series, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder examines PTSD throughout history and in the military. The classic symptoms of PTSD are explored and discussed; as well as those who have lived through traumatic events, in wars, and here in the United States. The latest information on treatments and the future of PTSD are delved into and current events such as Hurricane Katrina and the Virginia Tech shootings are explored. Treatments and the future of PTSD conclude this very readable book . Excellent color photos and statistical tables. Includes a glossary, Organizations to Contact, Further Reading and an Index. Nonfiction.

This is the briefest and a very superficial treatment. It would be useful to people who have no background or idea about ptsd for an overview and I am sure it was designed as such. The kind of book that one would find in a High School library. I'd give it to my kids to read as a starter.

It's a basic explanation of what post traumatic stress is and the basic causes and symptoms geared for the teen reader looking for information on a research topic.
