Yes, it's in here! George Washington's Liberty Key!
I purchased this book to solve a mystery: Did it mention anything about "George Washington's Liberty Key: Mount Vernon's Bastille Key"? Yes, as I discovered, it did! And the Bastille Key -- George Washington's symbol of freedom -- plays a major role in Wood's mystery. Several years ago I believed there was so much mystery about the Washington's key, so much so I wrote a book about it. As a result, I'm pretty sure that the hinged Bastille Key case mechanism and wax copy mentioned on pages 28-29 are problematic: 1. There is no easy access to the Key, as the case is closed (with access from the back) and screwed to the wall, in other words, no hidden hinged mechanism exists. 2. The key is a non-symmetric, advanced key such that, even with full access, no quick copy could be made unless it was done with a 3D scanner (a good copy would take about an hour); otherwise one would need to make a mold. But that all aside, I found "Justice" to be well-written and highly interesting. And spoiler alert: at the end of Wood's book, George Washington returns to be the "greatest character of the age" that George III and posterity has known him to be.
This is another fun action adventure into history. I am no history buff and usual don't have a clue about the significance the artefact has on history but it usual involves people I have at least heard of, even if I don't know much about them. In this case the story had me googling to learn more about Joan of Arc and Blackbeard, two very famous names. However they are not the reason I keep returning to the series (or to fill in my sadly lacking history knowledge) it is the two main characters Maddock and Bones. They are entertaining and know how to get the job done, whether it's solving clues, diving sunken ships or fighting off the bar guys the boys certainly make things interesting. Off to join them for another adventure. While rock climbing with his best books friend Bones, Moddock gets a phone call from his girlfriend asking for help. Someone has broken into the museum she works at and has attacked her boss. The police miss some obvious clues, which leads Maddock and Bones in a race once again to find the artefact before the Sons of the Republic. Jeffrey Kafer is a good narrator and makes things interesting, even history. I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntary left this review.
All the stories of Dane Maddox and Uriah Bonebreak have been very entertaining. The way the chase spins off into different directions keeps the reader guessing. These stories are not the kind that you have the ending figured out halfway through the book. I'm looking forward to the next one.
At first I thought I was in for another boring history lesson but David Wood never disappoints and this was another great read and another great adventure for my two favourite guys Dane and Bones. Can’t wait to see what the next book is going to bring!
All the Dane Maddock books are so fun. Bones is such a fun character. It's a fun fictional romp through the. Life of George Washington's life and history.
Justice is another installment in The Dane and Bones Origins series that is written by David Wood.
Dane and Bones are on called in by Dane’s girlfriend Melissa about an issue at work. She works at Mt. Vernon, President Washington’s home. They just happen to be on leave.
Dane and Bones are now on the trail of treasure. They are racing against time to get to it before the Sons of of the Republic find it. A powerful person in the government wants the treasure. He thinks he can sway the American people a certain direction if he owns it. Dane and Bones travel from Mt. Vernon to North Carolina, make a surprising discovery and then travel back to Mt. Vernon to find the treasure.
The histories of Joan of Arc, Washington, and Blackbeard are intertwined in this tale. It’s easy to read and sure to entertain. Dane and Bones are true to form and great heroes. This short treasure hunt will please those who like the adventure/treasure hunting stories and would be a good read for young adults, as well as adults.
Maddock and Bones are on leave and called to Mt. Vernon by Maddock's girlfriend. There has been a break in and she needs their help.
Maddock and Bones aren't the only ones in hunt for the treasure. So are the Sons of the Republic. Will these guys never go away? David Wood does a fantastic job of weaving together Joan of Arc, Washington and Blackbeard.
Maddock and Bones are back with a bang. We start with Joan of Arc and end with the reappearance of the Sons of the Republic. Blackboards treasure is thrown into the mix and we have one heck of a adventure from beginning to end. Another great origins story, looking forward to the next full outing. I was given an advance copy to read and post reviews of my honest opinion which I have done.
I really like this series by David Wood. Bones and Maddock are so much fun. This story is about butting heads again with The Sons of the republic. Bones and Maddock are now searching Mt Vernon. This story involves hidden chambers under Mt Vernon and pirates (of course). An artifact that the Sons of the Republic desperately want, and a Ninja Grandma. It's a good read
wow intrigue and fast paced. love it. Bones (my hero) and Maddox are at it again. Discovering treasures with adventure along the way. I love this series. I hope David never gets tired of writing them.
Short story on the origins of the Dane & Bones partnership. Nice adventure that moves at a nice pace, others a few comments about future events in the main book series.
