Einstein: Visionary Scientist

Rate this book
Albert Einstein expanded the way we understand our universe and helped create a framework for modern physics with his groundbreaking theory of relativity. In this detailed and well-balanced biography, illustrated with exceptional archival photographs, John B. Severance recounts Einstein's life from his privileged childhood and disappointing early career to his later recognition as one of the most respected and beloved scientists of this century. The author identifies Einstein's complex theories and makes clear why his ideas are still the basis of work by today's top physicists. He also reveals many of Einstein's inner complexities and eccentricities, exploring the personal and public controversies that followed him throughout his life. What emerges is a picture of a brilliant, compassionate, yet imperfect man whose remarkable theories gave the world an enormous push into the future.

This book takes an insight of Albert Einstein's professional and private life. It talks about his life before fame, after fame and everything the math scientist accomplished in his life. Any questions you've ever had about the E=mc2 inventor can be answered with this book.
The information in here was reliable for me because it was by the sam person who wrote Gandhi,Great Soul. Unfortunatley though I felt it was opionated like Gandhi,Great Soul. They made it seem like Einstein was just some anti-social who kept to himself.
I repeat myself that most of the information is reliable, but not always. If you're a studious student or aspiring scientist this book is for you. This book is great because it puts Einstein's theories in relative terms.

Einstein: Visionary Scientist by John B. Severance, is a biography about Einstein and how his life prior to and after he become the famous scientist. This biography incorporates images of Einstein and people who were part of Einstein’s life as he developed as a scientist. I really appreciated how truthful the writer was about Einstein’s childhood and how he was like as he got older. This is because when readers learn that Einstein was considered different than other kids and how his early career was not easy or good, it makes this famous scientist relatable to anyone. I liked that this biography shows Einstein in a light that makes him common to anyone and readers can connect with him. This can encourage young readers to work hard and to continue hoping and working on their dreams even during that hardest times. Overall, this biography can not only be used to serve as a resource for students to do research about Einstein, but it can also serve to motivate young readers to dream big and be true to their beliefs and values.

This was a nice introductory biography for middle- grade students. It gives insight into his personal life, while also explaining some of his scientific breakthroughs. Don't expect to learn to much about his science in this book. Einstein led a much more social life among the scientific community than I realized. Also explained is how Einstein became famous despite discovering scientific principals too complicated for the average person. There were many great photos in this book which helped make it a quick read. It's Einsteins remarkable life which makes this book an excellent choice.
Includes bibliography, chronology and index.

This book is very good and interesting if you are want to find information on how Einstein became Einstein. My only complaint is that it doesn't have enough about physics. I picked up this book to try and learn about the theory of relativity and was very disappointed in it.

Short but sweet, gave a good late-elementary school bio on Einstein focused on his career with a good sprinkling of personal facts. Whets my appetite for a larger, more in-depth adult bio on him.

On my son's summer reading list, a short illuminating informative book. I always wanted to know more or even basics of Einstein's life and this book does the job.
