A teaser: what role do retinal images play in explaining visual perception? Hyman's answer: they play no role whatsoever. What makes visual perception possible is the light that is absorbed by our retinae; retinal images are simply the result of that light being reflected off of our retinae.

Hyman brings this level of attention and insight to all of the problems he discusses. Philosophers beware!
