Angel: Spotlight - Doyle

Rate this book
Before Angel hit L.A., there were plenty of demons around. One of them was named Doyle, a half-human, half-Brachen demon with personal problems galore. When Angel gets to town, Doyle is entrusted by The-Powers-That-Be with guiding his quest for atonement-but with difficulties of his own to atone for, what made TPTB think he was the right, er... half-man for the job? Written by Angel novelist Jeff Mariotte ( Old Friends) with art by his Old Friends partner David Messina.

Again another case of owning the physical copy and Goodreads not recognizing the barcode and only having the Kindle edition option available...

This one was good but too short anyway.

Doyle is a character that is dearly missed but he went out with a bang. It was nice to see some part of what he was or what he was doing before meeting Angel. Too short though because I would have liked to have seen more of him before although he basically summed his entire life in a few words but still.

Still pretty cool, like Illyria's to own as a Buffy & Angel fan for sure.

I don't know if I was expecting too much, but apparently I was? It's not a bad little story, but at the same time, pretty mundane. I was sort of expecting a little more of a deeper character study (yes, I know this was a just a one shot, but that doesn't mean you can make a deeper story), and I thought the art could have been better. But all and all, I was glad to have some Doyle media to consume, and I did love the Mark Healy reference.
