When you sleep in a separate bed to your husband, it's safe to say that your marriage is in trouble. For Danielle Thomas, her marriage started crumbling a long time ago. But leaving her cheating, disrespectful husband has never crossed her mind. Until now. It's the arrival of the beautiful Miss Petal that stirs up the Thomas household. She's Danielle's son's new teacher, she's everything her husband is not, and she comes at the right time. The friendship the two women begin inevitably turns into something more, something wholly problematic. Soon she'll have to decide if it's worth giving up her comfortable, socially acceptable life for the woman who makes her happy. Her Lesson in Love is a steamy lesbian romance novel.
This wasn't as good as A Scarlet Kiss by Heidi Lowe but I still enjoyed it a lot. The chemistry between Dani and Ava was exceptional. Thank God, this book wasn't from Ava's POV or else I'd be crying rivers. Dani, the MC could be such a coward. It's like Ava forgives her for one thing and she gets to thinking 'how can I make her cry today? by not supporting her or saying something offensive. The choices are endless really'. Dani's husband was a complete garbage person. He cheated on her for years and destroyed her self esteem yet she still stayed with him for some inexplicable reason. Then by some miracle, the most perfect human being alive Ava, fell in love with her and when it got tough, Dani couldn't even defend her. Yes, i do get why it was hard for her but dammit she made Ava cry. At least she woman-ed up in the end and that's what counts. It was a very good read but then ending felt abrupt.
I really liked this story. I've read a couple of Heidi Lowe's books now and I think this is the best so far.
"Her Lesson in Love" is about an unhappy wife who falls in love with her son's teacher. The premise could be salacious but the book is actually pretty serious and explores the unexpected feelings Danielle has towards another woman in a realistic way.
The timeline of the romance unfolds over months so insta-love isn't in the equation and we don't get whiplash from a character doing a complete 180 on her life. The internal struggles Danielle faces feels real.
Because the two leads were likable, they communicated well, and the motivations of the characters felt authentic it elevated the quality of the story.
I don't really know how to rate this. Danielle has been married to a vile man for eight years and even though they have separate rooms and no intimacy, she's still there. Her son gets a new teacher, Ava Petal, and the kids are completely enamoured of her. So are half the parents, including Danielle who up until this point has been completely straight.
One of the things I don't get is, wtf is Danielle still doing with her ghastly husband? He's rude, demoralising, vindictive and a cheater. Another thing I don't get is, why I just inhaled this story, unable to put it down? I'm still angry with half the characters and I don't like the feeling I'm left with. So, I had a strong response to it but not one that's given me warm, mushy feelings.
Difficult book to read. Danielle is in a loveless marriage, but stays with the despicable Dominic for their son Chester, whose new teacher is the lovely Ava. Long story short, Danielle and Ava fall into a loving relationship, but Dominic is still in the picture and makes big trouble with the school and other parents. An unpleasant read, but at least love wins in the end.
I was in the mood for a light simple read, this book was perfect for that. I was enjoying it but like with so many books and I just don't get why this always happens the ending was so rushed. I love enjoying the happy ending and feel cheated when it is rushed!!
I noticed several mistakes in this book that a good editor should have picked up on. In a couple of places the wrong character name is used, making that section of the story a bit confusing. Things like that really impact how much I can enjoy the story.
The author had me hooked! The emotions that went through me were amazing! I was sure the book would end and then the next chapter started. I would get so upset and then laugh with the characters.
Such a light amazing read. Definitely recommend this book!
A Lesson In Love, I felt, depicts many modern romance scenarios that parallel today's societal evolution. I really enjoyed the conflict between the characters and the realistic decisions made by most. The villainous character and his caustic demeanor was the perfect catalyst to move the story along. I really enjoyed reading this story.
Enjoyed the way this book has my emotions all over the place. It makes for a very good read, trust me...lol Most of the time I'm smiling, a few times I wanted to bitch slap the husband Dominic and a couple of times the ex wife to be, Dani...lol Other then that it had my boy shorts wet with love scenes and I was still smiling at the end. I won't tell you why cause that will spoil it for ya ;-) just trust me and pick up a copy
