Dragons, the true children of Krynn, are power incarnate, and they know it. They come in all guises and forms. Their personalities are as varied as thier colors. Their magical abilities are virtually unlimited. And nothing is so terrifying as dragons on the wing.
In this collection, a follow-up to the popular The Dragons of Krynn anthology, Dragonlance creators, Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman serve up a fantastical array of dragon tales featuring the motley races of Krynn and the deadliest creatres of the Dragonlance saga.
Margaret Edith Weis is an American fantasy and science fiction author of dozens of novels and short stories. At TSR, Inc., she teamed with Tracy Hickman to create the Dragonlance role-playing game (RPG) world. She is founding CEO and owner of Sovereign Press, Inc and Margaret Weis Productions, licensing several popular television and movie franchises to make RPG series in addition to their own. In 1999, Pyramid magazine named Weis one of The Millennium's Most Influential Persons, saying she and Hickman are "basically responsible for the entire gaming fiction genre". In 2002, she was inducted into the Origins Hall of Fame in part for Dragonlance.
No defrauda a los que encontramos interesante el mundo deDragonlance. Breves cuentos escritos con arte y sin grandes pretensiones lo cuál hace que sean mejores.
An awesome book for readers who like myself, love dragons!! admittedly some dragons are cruel but they too are so full of trickery and at times their sense of humour is so full of cunning one just has to admire the way they turn the tide their way every time! I love they way they shape shift and the tale which takes place in an inn has such a twist to it but I will not post spoilers to this! the last story in the book is the most amazing, a fight between the 5 dragons of the evil queen against the 5 dragons of good - a fight to the death by a valiant golden dragon attacked by all 5 evil wyrms in order to save the clutch of eggs laid by herself and her sisters who in turn had all already perished at the talons of the evil wyrms!! an excellent way to end the dragons at war tale! as always weis and hickman deliver their very best!!
This book contains a group of wholesome dragon stories. Really loved all small pieces of lore and some of these stories really stayed with me afterwards. I am now reading The dragons and I love how it almost picks up after this one. If you love dragons of any type you can pick this one, it's great
Another short story anthology for the Dragonlance saga. The only reason I chose to read it is because all the short stories involve dragons--both good and bad. This collection includes fourteen short stories written by different contributing authors. Titles included are Dream of the Namer, People of the Dragon, Quarry, Glory Descending, A Lull in the Battle, Proper Tribute, Blind, Nature of the Beast, Even Dragon Blood, Boom, Storytellers, The First Dragonarmy Engineer's Secret Weapon, Through the Door at the Top of the Sky, and Aurora's Eggs.
As with all short story anthologies, there are good stories included and there are bad ones. Boom was a bad one. I read the first four or five paragraphs of that one and skipped ahead to the next story. It was not worth my time.
Aurora's Eggs was my favorite from the collection because it was very well-written, and it was full of action.
The rest of the stories ranged from mediocre to god-awful, in my opinion. I wanted to enjoy this anthology as it did focus on the dragon side of Krynn, but as anthologies go, this was not one of my favorites.
This book is a collection of short stories that take place in the Dragonlance realm. All these stories have dragons as the common element. These dragons could be on the side of good or the side of bad.
Most likely with an anthology, the book will receive two to three stars for my rating. There are going to be some stories you like and some you don't. Therefore, the average rating of two to three stars. I hope that the good outweighs the bad but that did not happen in this collection. The bad was really bad including one story Boom which could have been the worst short story I have read from this universe. There are two really good stories that are worth reading: Glory Descending and Aurora's Eggs and the rest are average to bad.
I wanted to enjoy this one because of the dragons being the key element but there are better collections from this universe.
“The First Dragonarmy Engineer’s Secret Weapon” takes us back to Kang and company. This time, they have been placed under command by the suicidal minotaur Tchk’pal who, bless him, loves the idea of full frontal assault. Luckily for our draconians, Kang has a catapult.
Stars awarded based on “The First Dragonarmy Engineer’s Secret Weapon” Short Story
Highly enjoyed this anthology, especially because of the focus on dragons. Here’s my rating of each story:
People of the Dragon: 3/5 Quarry: 2/5 Glory Descending: 4/5 A Lull in the Battle: 4/5 Proper Tribute: 2/5 Blind: 3/5 Nature of the Beast: 5/5 Even Dragon Blood: 3.5/5 Boom: 3/5 Storytellers: 5/5 The First Dragonarmy Engineer’s Secret Weapon: 2/5 Through the Door at the Top of the Sky: 4/5 Aurora’s Eggs: 4/5
The Dragons at War is a good read compared to some of the other Dragonlance collection books. Obviously the book focuses on stories involving dragons. Some of the authors are better than others, particularly Mark Anthony and Douglas Niles. A couple of the stories surprised me with their sudden developments, which is a good trick in a short story. This collection includes stories that involve character groups from all over - Solamnic Knights, minotaurs, Dragon army forces, and an evil Gnome for good measure.
Aurora's Eggs - "The Gold Dragon Aurora, has learned that her sisters of Silver, Bronze, Copper and Brass have perished at the hands of Takhisis' spawn. This tale is the Gold Dragon's defense of metallic dragon eggs against the five chromatic dragons sent to destroy her and them.
