José Juan Tablada fue un poeta, periodista y diplomático mexicano.

Es reconocido como el iniciador de la poesía moderna mexicana, y se le atribuye la introducción del haikú en la literatura hispana. El compositor Edgar Varèse escribió en 1921 una cantata, “Offrandes”, con un poema de Tablada y otro de Vicente Huidobro.
