She is a social worker, psychotherapist and professor (at the University of Pennsylvania), as well as an author. Her published work includes 17 textbooks, two non-fiction trade titles, and several novels.

A great introductory text to familiarize students with the DSM 5 and strengths based assessment. Helpful in teaching srudents to navigate the limitations of the DSM and keep client identified goals and needs centered while being able to utilize the DSM as a professional tool.
