Amy Fowler is an upmarket criminal lawyer in New York City who's riding a series of successes and she intends to capitalize on them. Just as she leaves her big firm to start her own, her husband attracts the attention of the tabloids in a high-profile affair that destroys her launch and everything she's worked so hard for.
Myra, her old college roommate, calls her from Texas with a problem of her own. It appears her brother, Greg, is being charged with murder, and Amy sees this as the perfect time to flee the city until news of her husband's scandalous affair cools down.
Greg Dempsey is a blond, blue-eyed Texas rancher, and he and Amy have nothing in common except a mutual attraction that proves irresistible. The two can't keep their hands off of each other, but he wants her to appreciate the joy of the countryside's wide, open spaces in hopes she'll stay. Despite how charming this handsome cowboy is, Amy intends to return to New York City knowing she has a career and reputation to rebuild there. However, in life and love the choices aren't that simple, and the solutions aren't always so easy. Things get complicated quickly when the successful young lawyer learns she's pregnant with Greg's baby!
Can Amy reconcile her love for the Texas cowboy with her desire to rise to the top of the legal world?
*** This is a standalone novel with a HEA. Your copy of "To Texas With Love" (approximately 53,000 words) includes a BONUS BOOK by Destiny Davis, "Sensual Secrets" (approximately 50,000 words) ***
Well, l thought the book was okay. I wasn't okay with Amy drinking once she found that she was pregnant. Or the fact that she just upped left like she did. But l do understand why she needed to get her Career back on track.
The second book l was not liking at all at first. Jared was a complete Jerk to Myra. I felt like he was just using her for sex. That Jared didn't respect Myra when it came to the bedroom. I mean she was okay with everything. But l thought Jared could put some thought into what he wanted. Or let her take some control.
I loved that fact that Amber started the whole in a drunken stooper. She was then able to get into Jared face and straighten him out. How Jared didn't realized that Myra was a virgin. But again he was so into needs he wasn't paying attention. But l'm glad that set him straight on that too. I very happy that Jared got himself together and turn out to the guy Myra deserved. A Gentleman...
I'm going to go ahead and give this book four stars. I was going to give it two stars, because I had issue with the heroine drinking alcohol after realizing she was pregnant. I felt it was irresponsible on the author's part to have her female act so recklessly. Also, what is up with you writers in not letting the hero and heroine get to know each other before they decide that there in love!? It's such unrealistic BS. That's probably why for me as a reader I felt no chemistry between the two leads because there was no build up.
I love the romantic interracial weaving of the storyline!! I disliked the lack of background on the storyline on how the heroine pregnancy lacked authenticity. Please do more research, no drinking. This truly disturbed me. I would recommend this story to those who love the interracial genre. This author has good potential in this genre, just need more experience and good researching and editing. This makes my rating 3 stars.
Everyone should know that pregnant women are not suppose to drink!! Not only did she drink wine but also some scotch! She was too concern about her law career, but she didn't mind defending crooks, that she was willing to give up love. Myra was just plain stupid, she believed her husband over her brother. He never had any time for her or her family!!
Wow this is a awesome story! It is absolutely worth every penny, the characters are heartwarming and very emotional. What a beautiful steamy passionate relationship with lots of drama it's so captivating that you will absolutely enjoy.
I really enjoyed the characters and their stories. I did find it strange that Amy was drinking hard alcohol through out her pregnancy and none of the other characters questioned it. However I was happy that they were all able to get out of their own way to have a HEA.
I really enjoy this book the characters the way they love each other they're difference showing no matter what anything can happen if you just give it a chance this was a good read latifying
Yeah I enjoyed this book, lovely storytelling with full believable characters. The flow was good also. I look forward to reading more from this author. I recommend.
I'm very surprised with reading this book! I can't feel a connection between the two main characters especially as they have declared their love for each other within 15% of reading this book, which I did not realise that it was 2 story in 1 book. Raven Rivers - to Texas with love was kinda short and easily forgettable, sorry to say, it ended as a likable story a HEA storyline, the heroine was the one to chase the hero, which I don't usually like as I do believe that the hunter gather should be the one hunting, sword fighter, Dragon slayer and all that stuff, but on this case Amy did leave Greg after he declared his love for her and wanted to do the commitment thing, but what kinda miffed me a bit was Amy supposedly of love for Greg when she was away did not come across that she missed or ached for him in the least, you got the message from his POV that it affected him a lot worse then Amy; that was another one of my gripe about that story. now on to the 2nd story, which I have a lot to say but won't.
“Sensual Secrets” By Destiny Davis there were typo errors and the main character Mia I did not like at all, the only time she got a back bone was when she confronted one of her besty Amber which rightly so for getting involve with the starting up of this trysts with this so called main man character who did not do committed relationship Jared. I could go on and on about what I did not like about this book but I won't waist any more of my time to ramble, but only to say I did NOT like Mia's character at all, she was too desperate for a male's attention and approval that it surprised me she left Jared on 2 separate occasions but it was no surprise that she took him back too easily and found herself pregnant, the ending with her mum writing that apology letter was such bull; mothers that are cruel and uncaring do not see their errors, they are always wrong and strong and they always have scriptures to back their nasty attitudes up as if their so right. I would only have given this book a 2 star rating and I believe that is too generous.
It was a cute book, there are addition stories attached to the end (this one ended at 45%), I did not read those.
What killed this story for me was that the author took an intelligent woman with common sense (no, intelligence and common sense do not go hand-in-hand) and had her drinking while she knew she was pregnant. Why?!
Yes, this minuscule detail killed the book for me. Yes, medically I know they say it's ok for one glass but they still recommend none at all. Amy had much more than 1 glass.
Does it mean I won't read another book by this author? no, i will. I was just disappointed.
I would give this a 6 if I could. This was a great story.
The main character Greg was accused of murder so his sister calls her friend from college Amy to come from New York to Texas to defend her brother. Greg and Amy fall for each other immediately. The chemistry was great between the two, but, how do you make a relationship work when the heroine is a high powered lawyer from New York and the alpha male is a strong cowboy from Texas?
Amy NY lawyer comes to Texas at the request of a college friend to assist in the defense of her brother Greg in a murder case. Amy and Greg take one look at each other and a relationship begins. There are some editing errors but the thing I found most objectionable is (spoiler) she is drinking Alcohol like a fish after she discovers she is pregnant. Really.... The couple have issues and logistics that need to be addressed along with a murder to solve along with family drama.
There's something about this story that didn't sit well with me. The whole story seemed rushed. There was no real time line for the characters to evolve somewhat naturally. With a little more work, this could have been a really good book. Some of the typo's were just unbelievable.
I think its irresponsible to have a pregnant character who is supposed to be intelligent and not an addict drinking alcoholic beverages. This really disturbed me and put me off the book.
Both books were well written. There were small editing errors, but otherwise they were well thought out stories. The sex scenes in the second book were steamy, freaky, and HOT!!! Wasn't expecting that at all!
