Little Black Break was a book I could not put down to save my life. Seriously. I started this book with the intention of just reading a bit of it, and fast forward a few hours later and I soon found myself finishing this book at 2 o'clock in the morning. And you know what? I effing loved that because that showed me how captivating, how alluring, and just how downright enjoyable this book was. Like I said, I couldn't put this book down to save my life, and I was beyond wowed with everything I got to experience with Rosslyn and Sebastian in this book. Little Black Break was heated, action packed, and had my jaw dropping and my heart bursting more times than I could count, and I truly enjoyed every second of reading this book.
This book's events pick up after the events of the last book, and I have to say that I loved how easy it was to start right back in with these characters and with this story. I read Little Black Book, the first book in this series, over a year and a half ago, yet it was so easy to get back with these characters, to remember all that had happened, and to feel everything that Rosslyn and Sebastian shared. I would definitely recommend reading that book before this one so that you really get a sense of the love story that Rosslyn and Sebastian share, as well as how they got to the present of this book. Melissa Andrea and Tabatha Vargo really made this book so easy to jump right into, and the events, the feelings, and everything these two share just enveloped me in right from the start.
Little Black Break follows Sebastian Black and Rosslyn Harris as they begin the next stage of their relationship. They've gone through a lot, but they're finally on the other side, and better yet they're together and happy. They're content and looking forward to the next steps, and that's when things start to get bumpy. Things from Sebastian's past start coming back to haunt him, and soon Rosslyn is put in more danger than she realizes. Determined to protect her, Sebastian does all that he can, yet when the mysterious person from his past gets too close, he decides the only way he can protect Rosslyn is to keep her at a distance. What ensues in Little Black Break is full of jaw dropping revelations, heartbreaking and seriously emotional moments, and more feeling than you can shake a stick at as Sebastian tries to do all he can to protect the woman he loves and to find a way back to what they once were.
Sebastian Black is definitely a character you don't soon forget, and I realized that over and over again while reading this book. That man is fierce and protective and headstrong to say the least. He also loves Rosslyn with everything he's got, and he needs her like he needs his next breath. To say that he loves her is almost putting it too mildly to really capture what he feels towards her, and in this book he is faced with the grim realization that his past threatens that very love he has towards her. What I loved about Sebastian was that he is such a layered character. There's the charming, powerful, and enigmatic side the world sees. There's the playboy and cavalier side that the club sees, and that goes along with the front he puts on to keep Rosslyn at a distance, yet there's also an extremely raw and vulnerable side to him too. There's a side to him that fears, that worries, and that is tormented by what his dark past might mean for Rosslyn, and getting to fully experience that side along with his others was nothing short of everything.
You get to see the many sides of Sebastian Black in Little Black Break. You get to see him struggle and fight and give it his all as he tries to protect Rosslyn, what they share, and as he tries to find a solution to the problems they face. I loved how distinctive Sebastian's character was, and that man is a true force to be reckoned with, and really he's a man who knows what he wants and isn't afraid to do anything for that. I absolutely loved the emotional connection I had to his character, and I loved getting to be there with him through it all as he gave it all to save the love he so deeply cherished. Sebastian is fierce, powerful, and you don't mess with him one little bit, and this book will show you that with him again and again.
Rosslyn's character was the perfect, and I mean perfect, counterpart to Sebastian. That girl is no wilting flower, and she gave it to that man just as good as he gave it to her. What I loved about Rosslyn was that she was real and honest and just a good person. She wanted to make the world better, she didn't want to just take Sebastian's money, and she wasn't looking for the easy road. She wanted to work, she wanted to be a force of good, and she wanted to spend the rest of her life loving the one and only Sebastian Black. Her shear determination and fire was so admirable and easy to love.
I also loved that even when things got a bit wonky, when Sebastian started to pull away, she was always there fighting and pushing and giving it her all in order to be with the man that she loved. Sure she had her highly emotional moments, and rightfully so with what that girl has to endure, but through it all she never let up. She never gave up hope and even though her heart was breaking into a million little pieces, she kept firing through and being the amazing firecracker that she was, and that is just part of why I loved her so much.
Sebastian and Rosslyn's relationship definitely goes through the ringer a bit in this book. They are both put to the emotional test, and there were so many moments when reading this book when my heart just shattered for the two of them, yet at the same time I completely understood why things needed to be the way that they were. At the same time you felt the undeniable and visceral connection that Rosslyn and Sebastian shared, and you could tell how soul deep their love was. There was no denying it or avoiding it or ignoring it, and you felt every lick of that love and desire and feeling through every word of this book.
I was rooting for the two of them something fierce while reading, and I have to say that I was blown away by what I got with them. They just made this book the fantastic thing that it was, and getting to be there, living through every minute of this book with them as they tried to fight through everything that came their way, made me love the two of them even more. Their love is real, its honest, and its almost tangible when you experience this book, and that just invests you in it all even more than you already were.
Melissa Andrea and Tabatha Vargo truly created the perfect follow up to Little Black Book. This story held the best amount of action, jaw dropping revelations, and enough mystery to keep you hooked from the very first word until the end. Little Black Break also weaved together the most heart squeezing emotion and feeling that will break your heart, melt it again and again, while trying to put it all back together again. This book gives you one helluva love story that shows the true lengths one will go to to be with the one that they love. And sure it isn't easy and it hurts like hell, but Little Black Break and Sebastian and Rosslyn emphasize how worth it that fight and that love and all of that feeling and heartbreak can be if you're with the right person.
Exciting and enthralling from beginning to end, Little Black Break was a book I couldn't stop reading and loving all the way through. It blended the action, romance, and feels in the best way, and the writing of these author's paced it all out fantastically and in a way that just worked. I thoroughly enjoyed the all-feeling and action packed ride I took with Sebastian and Rosslyn in Little Black Break, and I truly can't say that enough. If you loved the first book, I guarantee you'll love this one even more, and in the end you'll just be downright smitten with the one and only Sebastian Black, and the woman who brings him to his knees.
Wonderfully intense, completely alluring, and filled with the best level of heat, story, and emotion, Little Black Break gives you the right amount of everything to create a read you won't stop thinking or feeling or experiencing anytime soon. So do yourself a favor, and just read this book, and get to loving it, because let me tell you, it is so damn easy to love. Trust me.
