“The Devil’s got my secret… He swore he’d never tell… I left it for safe-keeping… I’ll pick it up in Hell…”

Even thought that, Link, Ford, Whitney and Harlan have been friend since practically birth…… this tale was mainly Link, Whitney, and Crash

Told in dual POV- Whitney and Crash

There was Blue waters separating Link and Whitney’s house
They were the same, born into stuck-up families they practically despised. Link was being groomed for Yale, for law, like his father, but all he wanted was to be a professional football player.

Every chain is only as strong as its weakest link

Whitney was to go to Harvard for the medical program even though the sight of blood made her knees weak, and the only thing her knees wanted to do was dance

He got his nickname Cuz… he was who you are to come to… when your high ends and you… CRASH

This book had some crazy twist to it , something I’m slowly learning is Pretty common for this author……..I’m not knocking it! I love it.

I have read some masterful novels but India R. Adams, is poetry in motion! Everything from the first page is captivating. The world she creates and helps you envision is so damn realistic! You really connect with the characters, feel their pain, heartbreak, anguish and betrayal.

Their playful bantering had me busting a gut in laughter and the tears I cried said it all. So addicting, could easily be described a ten star read. I knew that on page 22 and have to follow the series in its entirety....I have to know what happens next.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars!

Again, I have the honor of immersing myself into the emotional depths of India R Adams' poetry in writing...

I'm grateful for this, I can't even begin to express the amount of overwhelmed notion and haze I'm in right now...

I have LOVED each and every book I have read by INDIA R ADAMS so far...and I 've held my heart open for many favorite characters that I had known would immerse from each story but I solemnly declare that Blue Waters and Harold Thompson aka Crash are at the very top if not the tip of the iceberg of my #NotShedAnyTear heart...

The story of star-crossed enemies to lovers might sound like an outdated trope to be drooling about, all of a sudden...but it's not about the subject at all, it's the finesse of Ms. Adams writing, which is slightly different yet recognizingly the same...

less poetic in wording but nontheless magically passionate in dialogues and in portrayal of emotional reactions of the main characters...

This story of deep friendship (Link & Whit aka Franky), that will test its limits and bond with what's yet to come, and of, what might seem like "insta love" between Whit & Crash, to me, it seemed like an "insta recognition" (like when you see a person for the first time and you automatically feel like you've known that person for years and you are just catching up on the lost time), that s how that "recognition" transpired between the two, inspite the irony of the odds that set them against each other in the cruel truth, yet it led them to young passionate love, the love that would make one sacrifice it all to make the other one safe...
"Tell me I'm still not alone in this! Ignore me if you will, but don't fucking lie to yourself." -Crash-

And that's just what happens here, they burst, they fall, they raise each other up but the game was set long before they could play and what had caused the dreams come crumbling down, all the secrets and hidden truths come into the light, the loss, the pain, the betrayal of disfunctional parents and the innocent souls that had payed for someone else's crimes...

That all makes Whit & Crash, two misplaced young lives that were brought together with a purpose...or maybe a fate...
We were from opposite worlds yet became joined in a reality that only the two of us were to experience

only to be taken apart by the "bigger game holders" that their fathers got involved with and set the downfall of action long ago...

and the devastating choice they each make to protect one another and somehow escape the clutches of the "forbidden" makes the deed tempting the fate...
Silence followed as I stilled and allowed destiny to take over.

The blue waters we sank through were angelic, quiet...

I loved it, with a slight but inevitable reference to the most famous tragic love of all times, Romeo & Juliet, it 's completed with the fast pace, passionate emotional outtakes and fantastic distinguished tone of India's writing...

Heading towards the Black Waters

"I found a beauty in dying that day…"

Where should I start?...

Ah, my friends highly recommended Blue Waters, but seriously, I was far from imagining the mess I would be by the end of it!

This is a deeply emotional read; although rather short (but fortunately, #2 is already available), it's not less feelings and twists packed.

I went into it completely blind, (I read the blurb at some point but it was weeks before) and I suggest you do the same, as the story totally surprised me.

Told from Whit's point of view, it follows a group of teenagers who at first appear to be little brats, but fast start to reveal the depths of their personalities.

They are perfectly handled, acting according to their age, with their fire, sassy replies and most importantly the tribe vibe that qualifies them. I loved Link and Whit's relationship, their closeness and protectiveness. It was as sweet as it was heartbreaking. But what moved me the most was the strength of Crash and Whit's love. These two had me shedding a tear or two (or more, lol...).

Blue Waters is sweet and raw, mysterious and beautiful. Poetic. I loved the author's writing; the atmosphere of loneliness and the final feel.

"I closed my eyes and prayed for him to not abandon me the way everyone else had."

This is a descent to hell, and I couldn't help but find it beautiful. I've been trying to understand why since I finished the last page, but I think it's just the magic writing style. Death is ever-present, the grief permanent: of family, friends, friendship, dreams, future... their pain (physical and psychological) was heart-wrenching. I was so enthralled in Whit's journey and emotions that until the last word, she could have chosen one path or the other and it would have been fine by me. Well done, India!

This book took was amazing. This was my first India Adams read and now I have seen for myself why everyone loves her writing. This book was such an emotional rollercoaster - and the cliff ending ugh. I need the next book in this series immediately. Whitney's character was so strong, funny and well written-all of these characters were. I couldn't help but fall in love with them all 💘✨

She is a dynamo of energy, attitude and fun! Silly, often snarky, Whitney’s world revolves around her love of dancing and finding ways to not feel the absolute loneliness she feels behind the closed doors of her wealthy parents’ home. Jet Setters, rarely home, cold and distant, Whitney’s parents never seemed to feel anything, even when her brother died from a drug overdose. As long as she could dance and spend times with her best friend, she was good, she had a future and she lived for it.

Who knew a bottle of water and a box of greasy popcorn at the movies would be the catalyst that would change her life forever? There he was, all dark and handsome, flirty and with an air of confidence that few possess. Like two magnets, Whit and Crash found what was missing in their lives, someone to love, no strings attached, so shouldn’t her best friend be happy for her or at least tell her why?

What Whitney discovers will wrench her heart from its moorings in her chest and put her in the gravest danger of her life. Crash is not just the young man she loves, he is the enemy and his love could become a never-ending nightmare for anyone Whitney cares about.

Talk about intrigue! Blue Waters by India R. Adams sets the stage for a taut emotional thrill ride with characters that come to life, enjoy the joys of youth and are forced into the adult world of pain and loss, all in very few pages! That is creative talent and Ms. Adams is now heading to the top of my Hidden Gem pile because she never missed a beat, made me believe I was in the story and part of every page. You want a quick read that will leave the same lasting impression as a longer tome? Looking for something to bite into that will have you drooling to read more? Take a look at Blue Waters, it will reel you in, hook, line and sinker.

When out with her friends at the movies one night, seventeen year old Whitney meets Crash who she immediately thinks of as Mr. Lickable. He's sexy and intriguing and the two immediately have a connection. But when Whitney invites Crash along on a night out with her friends, her best friend Link finds out who Crash really is, he's the son of a drug dealer that was involved in Whitney's brother's death.

Wow, just wow. Blue Waters is one of those books that while it looked intriguing it just turned into way more than I was expecting when I picked it up. The writing is somewhat on the poetic side, the characters were just so likable and the plot went from fun to completely intense in the blink of an eye. I started off the story laughing but by the end was on the edge of my seat.

Novellas often lack a lot of depth but with this one I felt like I really got to know everyone and enough of the story that I was completely hooked. With the wonderful writing I could feel the characters emotions, the laughter, the friendship, the love and the pain. What a great start to this series, I will definitely be adding the next book to my to read list.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The only thing I did not like about this book was that it ended. This was such a beautiful story, of friendship, first love and sacrifice.

The words had depth.

There was a beauty in dying that day, one I did not expect when I'd imagine meeting my maker. .

The story had meaning.

I found a beauty in dying that day
I found a beauty in living too.

And that is all I'm willing to give, because to truly enjoy this book you need to read.

**Re-Read 5/05/17 and all I can say is I love it. India is one of my absolute favorite authors and this book (among others) show why**

Oh my goodness. First of all, I loved this book so very much! Second of all, i feel like I want to cry....

I personally really liked this story. The thing that stood out to me throughout this book was the relationships each character had with others. The main characters Whit, Crash, and Link are amazing to me. I love these characters. Link and Whit's friendship is something to hope for and I was/am routing for this relationship to thrive. Crash is amazing! And Crash and Whit together is a priceless thing.

The one thing I did notice was the process of explaining the details of the situation, was off a bit. (When you read the book you will know what exactly I'm talking about). It seemed as though there were details missing from the explanation of it all, and I'm not talking about the -keeping safe- parts. I don't know if that makes sense much, but, yeah.

Ok! So overall I loved the book very much, but because of some points that seemed missing I will give this book a 4.5 star rating.

The second time around, I still had chills as I read this book. This is YA suspense at its best. It’s poetic, concise, beautifully crafted and simply captivating. I cannot recommend this book enough...

First read review:

Wow. I was so utterly and completely absorbed by this book; It literally enveloped me. (See what I did there ;) ) And sweet Jesus, that ending! Talk about hanging on the edge. Ahhh the torture!

First, I will totally agree with Whit, the main character of this book, in saying that Crash is totally Mr. Lickable *insert smirk face* Crash is a stunning character who has endured much hardship, and we, the readers, develop strong feelings of empathy for him. (Side note: he has been added to my fictional boyfriends list)

Secondly, Whitney is an unbelievably strong and passionate human being; she is resilient and fights for what she believes in her heart is right. She makes decisions with her heart, and I admire that about her. She is also incredibly funny and spontaneous, which makes this book super hard to read in bed, whilst pretending to sleep and your parents are in the room next door... Shhh...

India blessed me with a copy of Blue Waters. Little did I know at the time what a jewel she was blessing me with!
Whit is the young woman in the grips of grief after experiencing a tragic loss. Disconnected from her parents and unable to communicate with them she clings to her best friend Link. He is secretly in love with Whit but it takes someone new in the picture for him to realize it. He does his best to be there for her through everything. Even when her parents reject her and leave her for weeks at a time.
Whits quick wit and sharp tongue of verbal jousting hides the pain within, while at the same time endearing her to others. One evening while her, Link and the usual posse are at the movies she meets Crash. Crash was not only able to keep up with Whit's verbal sparring but see through it.
You know the saying that one lost soul is drawn to another. They had an instant connection on a soul level where pain recognizes pain. How well he seemed to understand her pain she thought. But Crash understood her tragic pain because he was part of the reason she was grieving. Whit just didn't know it yet. And so the story of love and loss and trust and betrayal begin.

This is a story layered with depth, pain, determination and sacrifice. It was like peeling back the layers of an onion. Every few pages seemed to bring new revelation and family betrayal that not only put Whits unsuspecting life in danger, but connected her, Link and Crash in a dirty secret that played out in front of them like a wreck in slow motion.
The pain is written in such a real way that I cried more than once while reading this book. And I had a few laughs along the way as well from Whits funny personality.

Blue Waters is a story not to be missed. You know how when you go the the beach and you're digging through the sand for the best sea shell you can find. You get so excited to find a beautiful sand Dollar or a perfectly curved shell rolled in on itself and you can hear the ocean in it. You're so happy in that blissful moment. That's how I feel reading India's writing! It brings a myriad of emotions to the surface and my soul relishes it!

(Note: I received a copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review. Many thanks to author.)

Whitney is 17 old, witty and sharp, full of life, wannabe dancer. Her world revolves around her friends specially her BFF- Link, wannabe footballer. They have one thing in common- rich parents who love money and their prestige more than their own child. On one movie night out, she meets Crash, attractive ‘Mr. Lickable’. She falls for him even after knowing who he is. With Crash comes all hidden dark truth and more in her life.

Characters- All were brilliant, even secondary characters. I loved Whit’s small group of friends, they were smart badass. The bond between Whit and Link, their way of handling each other was amazing. I fell in love with Link’s protectiveness, Crash’s unwavering love, and Whit’s dance and free spirit.

I loved this book from the very first chapter. There are so many things I loved in this book. In fact whole book I loved but main points that drew my attention most were- Witty remarks and clever words like ‘Constance is constant pain in..’ was amazing. Whit’s dance performance with full of emotions and the way she expressed herself in-between the dance track. Even I like the story behind the title Blue Waters. At some point, I stopped predicting what is going to happen next in this book and love such books.

‘Blue Waters’ started with fun and smile on my face and ended with tears in my eyes. Feelings in this book were as deep as the depth of blue waters.

Only one thing, I WANT TO CONTINUE THIS BOOK. I didn’t want it to end, why it is just novella and not whole book with 300-500 pages!!!

It is thrilling romance and I will recommend it to everyone.

Such a fantastic read! It's been a while since I've read a book that's managed to hold my interest. It's blowing my mind how good this book is. I don't know why I put off reading this book for so long. But something inside of me must've known just how massively this story would affect me. From the very first page, I was entranced with the relationship between Whit and Link. A friendship unlike any other, a friendship I am very much envious of. Despite being brought up with money, they didn't let it affect their upbringing, feeling extremely burdened by the responsibility and expectations that come with wealth. Come in, Crash, an unexpected and handsome stranger and love dwells immediately. But because of the walls they both put up and the secrets they withhold, problems arise and threaten to harm their relationship.

There were so many twists and turns, that had me on the edge of my bed screaming in frustration and delight. I was so overwhelmed by the emotions that came over me, I felt consumed. This series is novellas are my latest addiction and I can't get enough. I stayed up until 4am til I finished this baby and if I wasn't busy all day I would've just sat in bed with the next book! Definitely a must read. If you like YA novels with dark undertones and romance that will have you tingling, this is the one for you!

OH MY GWAD..... The suspense of this book kept me on the edge of my seat. I am so in love with Link and Whit's friendship nd how it proves to withstand everything thrown in their path. They may go through times of not talking but eventually their bond pulls them back and its such an amazing bond. Then to watch (or read) Franky and crash's relationship unfold and grow is so breathtaking. His constant dedication to her and that he refuses to walk away from her and wants to protect her at any cost is so heartwarming. His love for her is the best kind; unconditional, endless, selfless, and dedicated. I can't wait to see what happens next as I am freaking out on how this ended so suddenly leaving me trying to figure out what happened. I'm going crazy lol. Cant wait to dive into the next book!!!!

When India offered me a copy of Blue Waters, I was pretty excited. Every book of hers is memorable and special. She has a distinct style and depth to her writing that you just cannot ignore. It touches you deep inside and you always get a lot more than you expected.

I think it’s safe to say that I loved Blue Waters. Emotional rollercoaster would be a good description. We have Whitney, who I couldn't help but love from the first page. I wanted to be her but as the story develops you learn the reality of her life and what made her want to live that way. Even behind her happiness there is pain. The ones who are supposed to cherish her couldn’t care less and the only one who did died horribly. As the truth unravels, Whitney is forced to let go of any illusions she had about her family and confront the bitter realities for her life. Her bravery is admirable as is her ability to love and forgive.

Her best friend is Link, who is adorable and amazing and I wish everyone had a friend like that. Their relationship is so easy and he is her rock after her brother died. When Crash comes into her life and his identity is revealed everything comes …well, crashing down. It is a confusing and shocking time for Whitney (and me, obviously, I couldn’t rest till I knew everything!) and she has many tough choices to make including saying goodbye to Link maybe forever. I think our girl handles it all quite well.

Even though the circumstances are dire, the characters find humor and happiness. Their strength is inspiring. I especially love how the book opened and closed. That was some beautiful writing.
India really knows how to get readers invested in her characters and experience the ups and downs of their lives with them.

Blue Waters is an entertaining, thought provoking and emotionally wrecking book I highly recommend to lovers of this genre.

Holy mother of Pearl!!!!
This is one super emotional book that had me enthralled from the first page. I am addicted to India's writing because it just seems to hit me in the feels every single time.
I absolutely love Whit, her sense of humour and her loyalty and honour, I literally want to be her BFF. Her relationship with Link is also so beautiful, that friendship is truly something to admire and aspire to. Ans then there is Crash and he is the bad boy that we all hate to love. The story entwines their lives in a terrible way and yet it is all so tragically beautiful. I laughed and then cried so much, I think it took me at least an extra 45 minutes to get through because of all the tears!
So because I do not believe in spoilers, I won't be sharing too much with you but what I can say is...that ending!!!!! I am so happy that I will be jumping right into book 2 because I'm not sure I would have been able to wait to see how this will be continuing.
This is my honest and unbiased review.

I can’t even fathom what I just read, this book was so perfectly written. I fell in love with Whitney’s, Cash and Link’s story. No this is not a MFM book.

From the moment I started this book, I just knew that it was going to be one I was going to love. I haven’t read many books by this author, I had only read her haunted roads series so far. I just knew I had to keep reading this author. From the first few pages, I was captivated and hooked. It was like a drug addiction, I was addicted and obsessed.

There were so many twists and turns that I didn’t see coming, I was left speechless. This book brought me on a battle of emotions and made me feel so much. I felt so much love throughout this book between two best friends and two lovers. In the mist of all the twists and turns, we experience humour, friendships, and chemistry so strong that it makes me want to combust from the insides.

The world that India creates with these characters makes you feel like you are on their journey as well. She makes it so realistic. You feel this connection with each of the characters, feel their pain, heartbreak, anguish and betrayal.

I’m on to book 2 right now!

Description: I honestly don't know how to describe this book. I don't want to use the description off Amazon either because I don't want you to get any spoilers. If you go on the ride that is this story without any previous knowledge of the plot you will truly enjoy the intrigue it has to offer. I will say it is about a girl named Whitney and her group of friends, her love story, and her devastating losses. It is a beautiful story.

In Short: Stellar addition to the YA Romance genre. People who are fans of this genre will certainly enjoy this novel. It is a well written emotional roller coaster. It has an intriguing plot with tons of depth, a wonderful cast, great heroes and a sweet love story.

Pros: This book is very well written and a quick read that is fast paced and full of action. The characters are charming and well developed. The love story although it starts off too fast reaches a point where it progresses at a perfect rate. What I love most about this book is how intriguing the story it. It stars off so mysterious and then starts solving mysteries for you while throwing shocking plot points at you. Absolutely wonderful. I was so surprised by many of the events that occurred. It wasn't what I thought it was going to be and it was a wonderful change of pace from other novels of the genre. Our heroine Whit is a very remarkable character. I truly sympathize with her because of all of the struggles she has had to endure. The great writing of the novel makes you feel hopeful for her despite her troubles, so it isn't at all depressing. With the plot as exciting as it is I could argue this is of the Thriller genre as well.

Cons: This isn't so much a criticism as a note. Like in many YA novels the characters fall in love instantly, this is just the style of YA Romance. I understand this happening because of the quick pace and shortness of the novel. I guess I would have liked to see some communication between the pair between the time they met and the time of their first date. Maybe seeing them connecting more and more via text messages before they fell in love on that first date would have added realism for me. However, the pace of the love story does improve and this doesn't ruin anything for me.

Parent's Guide: Some swearing, some violence (abduction), drug reference, sexual reference no graphic details.

I was given a free copy of this book in return for my honest review.

This is the first book that I have read from this author and I have really enjoyed it. I came across the authors name as author of the month for the Paranormal, Fantasy, Distopia and Romance readers, Writers and Reviewers group. As I had not heard of her before I clicked the link to see her books and was intrigued by the description. I was pleasantly surprised by the price so went ahead and bought the book. I'm not normally one for such whimsy but I am glad I did this time.

This book had good pace and an easy style that was great to read. I was able to relax with this book and not work too hard. That is not to say that there were was no tension, twists and drama, just that the easily flowing style helps readers digestion. Told through the narrative viewpoint of a seventeen year old girl, this was perfectly suited.

I always have a soft spot feisty female characters. Whitney was no wallflower but also showed fear, heartbreak and confusion as well as her "charm". I liked the instant reaction to Crash, not quite love at first sight, but very soon to follow. I loved the relationship between her and Link even more. It was great to see two such devoted friends, and that they could be different sexes without attraction rearing its head.

I really feel for Whit in this story, for all she has been through, the realisations and the things that she learns about the past. Also how those same revelations interfere with her present and future leading up to the dramatic conclusion of the book.

One of my favourite things about the book is the way that the end echoes the beginning. This made me feel that the journey for these characters had come full circle, although not how they would of liked. It is also ambiguous in that strong hints are left over the outcome but that is where the book ends. This is not abrupt in any way, but did leave me wanting to carry on with the story. I believe there is a sequel so I shall read on.

I have deliberately not included plot details in this review as I don't want to spoil the story. I encourage people to read it for themselves.

What can I say about Blue Waters? Loved every word of it. It started off innocently enough then it turned dark very quickly.

The story revolves around Whit, a 17 year old girl, who's life is turned upside down when she meets Crash in the foyer of the local cinema. Link, her best friend is a bit dubious of the new friendship, and does everything he can to protect her. There was something about Crash that he wasn't sure of, and for good reason, as we find out around half way through the story. I won't divulge any more than that as I don't won't to spoil it. I will say this though, you are in for an emotional roller-coaster of a ride with the amount of little twists and turns throughout the story, which covers everything from love, and the loss of her dream to become a dancer.

The author has written the story in the first person, which I think works really well in this case. You feel everything that Whit feels, to the point that you become so immersed in her plight you end up crying for her.

I highly recommend this read to everyone, I don't care who they are!

I loved this story about Whit and her best friend Link and Whit's one and only love. The three of them have a connection and that is Whit's dead brother. Things unfold as relationships are developed and twists occur that will shock you or at least leave you angry!!

Beautiful story about love, loss, family, friendship, forgiveness, and more.

Recommendation: This is a novella and I definitely plan to read the next book. I have to know what happens to everyone next. My only complaint is there were three or four errors: then rather than than, for example. The biggest error totally distracted me and made me both laugh and cringe: "Hand me my crouches" instead of "crutches." Ugh...so a 4.5 due to mistakes but rounded up to a 5.

I really enjoyed this novella. I normally read until it's time for me to turn the light off and go to bed. I was up reading this book and I got so wrapped up in it the second night I was reading it, I only had 10% left and looked at the clock and realized it was way past my bed time. I had to make a decision if I was going to finish or go to bed and that was probably the hardest decision I had to make this week.

I was a little upset at the ending, but reading towards the back of the book, there is a sequel to this one that I am definitely going to have to check out so that I can find out what happens next

Entertaining, warmhearted, and well woven with both depth and humor, Blue Waters is a great read. Sometimes I found myself simply along for the ride, enjoying India's wonderful story telling abilities, and sometimes I found myself feeling what Whitney felt and relating to the characters on themes of love, loss, grief, hope, and trying to figure out this crazy mess of life. Once again, India strikes a beautiful chord of crafting a highly fun read all while making the reader feel and connect with something deep inside.

Again, amazing book, characters that you can't help but fall in love with. The plotline is great too. Whitney and Link are best friends, both wealthy, both hate it. It's more like a prison of expectations by their parents.

Whitney meets a handsome, older boy, Crash and they fall head over heels. Link doesn't trust him finds out who he is. Some one horribly linked to a horrific loss in her life. Can she ever forgive him?

There are some twists and signals that keep you guessing trying to figure out their story. Cannot wait to read Black Waters!

Great YA story about a girl who falls in love with the wrong guy. Not just a little wrong but really wrong, as in responsible for the worst thing to happen in her young life. I love the characters so far and can't wait to see where the author is going with the plot.

I received this book as part of a Good reads giveaway but the opinions expressed are solely my own.
