★★★★★ Kevin Cowdall's writing is hypnotizing.

Kevin Cowdall was born in Liverpool, England, where he still lives and works. In all, over 300 poems have been published in journals, magazines, and anthologies, and on web sites, in the UK and Ireland, across Europe, Australia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, India, Canada, and the USA, and broadcast on BBC Radio.

His 2016 retrospective collection, Assorted Bric-a-brac, brought together the best from three previous collections (The Reflective Image, Monochrome Leaves, and A Walk in the Park) with a selection of newer poems).
★★★★★ Like finding a perfect shell on the beach – unexpected and beautiful.

His 2019 collection, Natural Inclinations, features fifty poems with a common theme of the natural world.
★★★★★ Brings poetry and the world of nature together in perfect harmony.

His most recent collection, 100 Haiku (2024), is a celebration of the traditional Japanese unrhymed poetic form, mostly on the theme of nature.
★★★★★ Highly recommend! A collection full of vivid, evocative, and spiritual images to savour.

His poem for children, The Land of Dreams, was published on the Letterpress Project website, wonderfully illustrated by Chris Riddell.

A number of Kevin's short stories have been published in UK magazines and anthologies. Ten (and a bit) of these are available in The Ophelia Garden.
★★★★★ This collection really fits the bill of what you want from a short story: a quick, but not always light, read that often leaves you wondering, and delivers a few surprises.

His novella, Paper Gods and Iron Men, comes with a bonus short story, 'Flanagan's Mule': two stories of endurance and survival, of ordinary people in extraordinary situations.
★★★★★ These are two wonderful stories of survival. Cowdall has an expertly controlled style and is a tremendous new voice.

He has published four novels: two crime thrillers, The Ghost in the Room, and The Ghost in the Shadows.
★★★★★ Kevin Cowdall has created a fascinating character with some incredible tales to tell.

Cosgrove's Sketches, the story of an Edwardian Liverpool artist.
★★★★★ Wonderful novel. Great storyline with strong characters, and with real-life writers and artists thrown in. This is a classic TV series in waiting. Highly recommended.

and The Dinsdale Fox, a children's story for adults.
★★★★★ Enchanting story! A classic childhood tale, thoroughly engrossing.

Kevin has also written a play, Sometimes . . .
★★★★★ Wonderful bitter-sweet play. I really want to see this on the stage now, please!

All of Kevin’s books are available on Amazon.

Emotive

Ok I am the first to admit that poetry is not my area of my expertise. However, I loved this collection of poems. The author caresses many sensitive subject with skill and delivers poems that are at their very essence thought provoking. The poem Haunted I found extremely pleasing.

A lovely collection of poems, like finding a perfect shell on the beach - unexpected and beautiful. I do not profess to knowing anything about poetry but I do know about emotions and this collection makes you 'feel'. My favourites were 'Clouds Pass By','Tangled Thoughts and 'Shadow Fall'. I loved the change of pace with 'And Amid The Dark of Night' and the simplicity I found in reading 'Love Letter'. I could go on and on... suffice to say this is a wonderful body of work that should be read.
