Flirting With Curves #2

Flirting with Deception

Rate this book
STAND ALONE NOVEL in the Ocean Crest world.
Gia’s body was soft and warm, curvy in all the right places, and padded to perfection. I loved that feminine detail, the one that spoke of her sensuality and had my body pushed to the limit with a need to devour her.
She wrapped her legs up around me. Everything felt right. This was where I belonged. We moved in sync, a rhythmic dance taking us to the edge.
Strong and stubborn, Gia struck out on her own. Little did she know that Ocean Crest was forbidden territory or that her harmless deception would create such chaos.
Devoted to New Jersey and the Ocean Crest project, Hunter thought reuniting with his high school sweetheart made everything fall into place. Until he started working with Gia.
Boundaries are tested as the story continues in Ocean Crest, New Jersey.

I have a passion for storytelling. I write in a conversational tone that is often described as fun and easy. I love my characters to be easy to identify with and feel down to earth. Most of my characters have a girl-next-door feel.

This Jersey girl is happily married to a patient man who has the ability to sustain long hours of rambling thoughts spilling from me non-stop. With the company of my two dogs, I set my writing schedule around their inability to coordinate their potty breaks. :)

TWO TO TWO AND A HALF STARS!

This book was a recommendation by a favourite go-to-author of mine, Christa Wick, so when I saw they were looking for ARC reviewers for this book, I jumped at it wholeheartedly. I mean, who doesn't want to review stories about big beautiful women being delightfully tamed by muscle-clad men? But a few chapters into the book, it became readily apparent that the type of curvalicious read that I live for was sadly missing in this one.

I found that the writing was quite erratic in the sense that things would just jump from one event to the other without having properly established everything that lead up to that point in time. Additionally, the transitions between chapters (as I'm assuming both authors took turns writing a chapter) wasn't entirely seamless.

But the main problem I had with the book were the two characters, Gia and Hunter. It really frustrates me when characters refuse to communicate with each other. Gia I found to be the worst of the two, with the only exercise she took part in was that of jumping to conclusions. And the whole Hunter dropping the L-word after one visit to the nirvana that was Gia's vagina was a bit too much for me. I don't want to be told things, I want it all to unfold organically via the story telling so I can have a chance to fall in-love with the characters and appreciate their story for what it is.

Would I recommend this book? This could be a perfect example of me being the odd one out. Whilst this book wasn't my cup of tea, its scored a number of five stars with other readers. Try it for yourselves.

ARC provided by Olivia Rigal. Thank you.

Sometimes in order to start new we need to lay our secrets to rest. And that is where Gia went wrong, she hand too many big secrets to just think changing her name and address it would be ok... I was given this book in exchange for an honest review and like I said this book will definitely keep you on your toes in where something is on the verge of being reviled. The story is mainly about how Gia and Hunter came to finally be together. Gia is a big beautiful woman that has had stuff happen that sometimes leaving the situation is the best solution...or is? She wanted a new beginning therefore she made the decision to move to Ocean Crest but she didn't want to bring baggage so she also changed her name. But things are really never hidden..everything has a way of coming to light. Good or bad....
Hunter is part of her past but he shaking up her life in the present. He doesn't know who she is but he will.. He has his own demons to slave especially his on and off again girlfriend..she is a devil and everyone doesn't like her. They all know he is sooooooo much better than she is.. Now Gia is in my opinion his missing piece...and I am not the only believer there.. Will he listen to his heart and leave her and find the peace he needs with Gia? What tragedy will hit? And will they separate Gia and Hunter more? I wish I could explain more but then I would be telling the story. Not because it's so small or uncaptivating , but because each part fits so beautifully that it's just flows...

Gia wanted a new life , independent of her Italian lineage and status , so she moved to work at Ocean Crest under a different identity, until her colleague Hunter Bishop found out.

Hunter has known Gia for a couple of months and his attraction for the curvy beauty was getting stronger. He was currently in a shaky relationship and he couldn't shake his feelings off from Gia, even after discovering who she really was. So he had to do the right thing for his heart.

Truths were revealed and families were united. But a tragedy also exploded. However, it also cemented just how much Gia meant to Hunter. She was his, forever. And Gia found her heart and home.

Flirting With Deception is the second book of the Flirting with Curves Series. Even if the characters are somehow intertwined in the series , this could be read as a standalone. This is a light mafia romance , very sexy and amusing in many instances. This was so well-written that I will be reading all the books in the series.

An advanced copy was provided to me for an honest review.

This is the second book in the Flirting with Curves series. I would suggest reading the first book because you would love it and understand the situation of what is going on as far as the location and what the group has going on in book two. It would also explain a great deal about the side story that goes on around Barbara (and Ryder) and her family.

This book is about Hunter and Gia and it is a doozie! And I mean that is a good way. Gia has secrets DEEP ones that she had no idea would create issues with their business in Ocean Crest.
Hunter is with his long time stink in the mud plastic girlfriend Tiffany and no one likes him with her. Seems there just might be a reason for that feeling they are all getting. HUM

Its hard to talk about the book without giving away parts of the story line that I myself would like to discover as I read the book. So let me just say I loved this book. It was gifted to me for a honest review. My suggestion is to get this book and book one and read them. I can't wait for the next book to appear.

This book was ok for me. I felt like it didn't really flow smoothly, too many thing forced in and not enough steady character development.
Negative side - The hero was kind of all over the place personality wise, not really sure what he wanted. One minute he's thinking about sleeping with his girlfriend (whom he thinks he should marry), then the next he is kissing the heroine. After he decides that night he sleeps with the heroine and literally runs out the next morning (within hours after they slept together) to help the ex's family after a huge storm...I mean right when he got up, he got dressed and went over....pretty sure that could wait for a bit....if he was such a "thinker", he would figured that out. So, from his point of view....it still felt like her giving it. I think it could have been better with more developed characters.
Positive side - I did really like the heroine and the scene where she takes up for herself against the Barbie wanna be bully...loved reading that, we need more heroines like that. The intimate scenes were pretty good too.

This was book was sexy, fun and just such fun to read . this book ended with a very satisfying conclusion but at the same time gave you a hint about what is coming next. I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

This is book two in the Flirting with Curves series but it is definitely a standalone. You can read this book without having read book one, but one you have read it, you will probably want to read book one to hear Barbara and Ryder's story.

I must say, my attention was snagged from the start. Gia is working with Barbara, Ryder, and Hunter in the rebuild project happening in Ocean Crest. The only problem is Gia didn't know that someone from her family should not be working in the area. It all comes to light when her father is put in prison and things at work start going wrong with the suppliers.
The story has heat, a story, a bit of action, and a family reunion. I really enjoyed it and am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Great Read!

Gia Simone is not who she seems. When a photo shows up on TV of her with her father, turns out she is the daughter of a mafia boss. She only wanted to live her own life and not tied to her family or because of her family. Will she loose her friends when they learn who she really is? Hunter Bishop is Gia's friend, but is there more feelings there. While he is dating Tiffany, he feels that she is not the one because something is not quite right. Will Gia return home for her family's sake? Will Hunter realize what or who he wants before it is too late? I really enjoyed this story but there were some parts or whole sentences missing. But other than that it is a really good story that you can enjoy for a short time because it is a quick read.

Romance and mafia family drama

I love how you continue to follow Ryder and Barbara in this book. This is Hunter's story to his HEA, he first needs to stop struggling with himself over what he wants and what just feel comfortable. Hunter and Gia have become very good friends, then one day he discovers that Gia has been hiding something important. Gia comes from a very different kind of family. An Italian, Mafia family that have their own rules and traditions. Everyone around Gia and Hunter see their chemistry, but will they recognize it before their own self insecurities prevent going after what they want. This book has some suspense, drama, and lots of passionate scenes. You will not be disappointed adding this to your reading list.

Oh the secrets Gia is hiding! Wow, this is an exciting and sexy romance between Gia and Hunter that involves the mafia. There were several unexpected twists since Hunter has a girlfriend when we start yet he is drawn to Gia. Then there is the secret of Gia’s family. As their project is being stalled with slow suppliers, Gia has to face her family to unravel the real reason behind the delays. Love when Hunter finally realizes what he has right in front of him as he pursues Gia – their chemistry is hot, sexy and all-consuming. Yet, will Hunter be able to accept Gia once he knows who her family is? Can Gia stay true to herself once her family butts back into her life?

Gia and Hunter's story. In a novella the writer has to get the story moving fairly quickly, bu I felt a little lost in the beginning. I really wanted to love Gia a mob bosses daughter trying to find her own place outside of her family, but when her and Hunter finally get together and he goes to help out an exes mother because he promised...she got all huffy and ran. It seem out of character to me. With out any idea why she acted this way it fell flat. The bones of the story was good. I think it needed to be a little longer so more insight into the characters could be explored.

Flirting With Deception by Ava Catori and Olivia Rigal is a very well written book. Gia and Hunter story has interesting characters, drama, danger, explosions, the mafia, babies and a lot of hot sex. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger. I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review. I really love this story, enjoyed and can't wait for more. I look forward to reading more from this amazing and talented authors.

ARC Review

Wow, I was not sure Gia and Hunter would ever get together. Hunter would dream of having what his brother Rydar had, but was not sure his girlfriend Tiffany was the one to fulfill that dream. Turned out Tiffany was more of a nightmare. This story has lots of drama. Between ex's, weather, the mafia and the early arrival of a baby there is no shortage of action in Ocean Crest. I loved this story!

Hunter has always liked Gia but he's involved with Tiffany. But things start to unravel in his relationship and breaks up with her and turns to Gia. Gia has a big secret and its about to be exposed. Can Hunter deal with it? Does Gia want the same thing as Hunter? Are they safe? Will Tiffany interfere? Very great chemistry and fast paced story line makes for a great read.
