Alex, Michael's (Luke's partner; book 1) best friend and former professional fútbol player, still has one foot in the closet. The people close to Alex know he's gay, but his traditional Latino father prefers the "don't ask, don't tell" policy, and for Alex, la familia lo es todo.
Alex tried to come out publicly once and paid a price. Now, he's wary and hides behind humour and snarky remarks.
When Nate (Jake's friend who's kind of a shit to Bran in book 2) leases a condo in Santa Monica, he doesn't expect to be so drawn to his landlord and neighbor. But Alex's smiles and kindness, not to mention his ass in those tight running shorts, are infectious, and Nate falls into delirious lust.

The smexy bits in this book are seriously scorching. When the boys go at it fast and hard ... OH, MY.

There is an element of exploration to the sex, which makes it that much hotter, so, yeah, invest in some iced tea or something before reading.
Nate, who is the first-person narrator of this story, slowly comes to term with being bisexual. He knows his feelings for Alex are more than sex, but Nate doesn't do emotions. He still hasn't dealt with what happened last summer with Julie. And Julie keeps coming round ...
Can we talk about Julie for a second? I understand she was dealing with an emotional fallout, but she seriously needed to get therapy and leave Nate the fuck alone. And Nate needed to grow a pair and sit down and really TALK to her. Because THAT situation wasn't working for anyone.
Alex is a little unfair at the end; he's not the greatest communicator either. He tends to turn everything into a joke.
But thank fuck Nate gets it, finally GETS it, and is present for Alex when Alex needs him most.
Ah, that last chapter is lovely!

“The Right Time” is the third book in Lane Hayes’s ‘Right and Wrong’ series, can be read as a standalone and features Alex (Michael’s best friend – character we met in book1) and Nate (Jack’s friend – character we met in book2).
Nate owns a real estate development company in Oxnard, but recently he has to move in Santa Monica because of a project. He’s straight (it seems at the beginning), he’s divorced and he just leased a condo in the building where his friend, Jack lives. Alex is a former professional fútbol player. He’s gay, he’s partially out, his family knowing about his sexual orientation. His fans and his former colleagues don’t know anything about it. Due the fact he respects too much his traditional Latino values and father he preferred not to come out publicly.
Alex is Nate’s new landlord. He’s anything like Nate. He’s friendly, engaging and funny. At first, Nate is reluctant to accept Alex’s friendship. He think he doesn't need any new friend in the city since he will be there only for a few months. But as they get to know each other better, he feels more and more drawn to this sexy Latino man. He doesn’t seem to understand this...attraction he feels for Alex. Why now and why for him? In the past he was with another man but everything ended on a bad note. Needless to say he’s kinda scarred to get involved with another man again. Yes, Nate is bi, but he preferred all these years to be only with women. While at first be doesn’t want to question what he feels toward his landlord/new friend, after a while he can’t lie to himself anymore and admits (only to himself at first) that he wants more with him than a simple friendship.
I enjoyed this one like all the books I’ve read by this author, but I must admit this one was not my favorite in the series. Like all the books in this series, this one was sweet and sexy, easy to read and pretty light. The entire book is told from Nate’s perspective. I liked it, but I have to say there were times when it was necessary Alex’s POV. I’m sure I would have enjoyed more. However, Nate’s POV was done well. Nate is ‘the serious’ between these two men. I liked how he comes to terms he’s (still) bi (Duhh...) and I also liked there’s no drama regarding this aspect. Alex was more fun in IMO. I really enjoyed his personality. He’s open, friendly, cute, charming and I loved how he teased Nate. I had fun reading their interactions. Overall he was an enjoyable character, but there were a few times when he got on my nerves.
There’s a little miscommunication through the end between the two men (just a little), but I wasn't too bothered by it, even if usually ‘I’m allergic’. The story has the perfect amount of steam, just to make the story more interesting and of course sexy and the angst was pretty low. That being said, “The Right Time” was an enjoyable read and I’m looking forward to read more by this author.

I liked but didn't completely love this one. I'm a huge fan of this author and she's one of the few authors I pre-order. I'm sad I didn't love it more. Let's get to the nitty gritty.
What I loved:
*Nate & Alex. Together and individually. They were such a great pair.
*Character growth.
*Steam was great.
*Overall story flow was good.
What I didn't love:
*I don't know some Alex's actions didn't match his character traits. Some of these happened during pivotal parts of the story. Kind of threw me off a bit.
*Also- this book really needed to be told from a dual POV. I felt that Alex had just as much to say as Nate and not being in his head made me feel like I was missing half the story.
*The felt over the top. Probably just me.
*The word "tit" in the middle of a M/M sex scene.
"He kissed my shoulder playfully, then licked a seductive trail to my left tit."
It totally stopped me in my tracks. I did a double take to make sure I'd just read it. I guess I just associate "tit" with M/F books and I found it odd here.
Don't get me wrong- I did enjoy it! and I hope I'm not turning off anyone from it. I think this will be an "everyone loved it more than me" case. 3.5 Stars.

Ok, I really enjoyed this book. Not as much as The Wrong Man because, duh, MACK! but this one was right up there and gets a big 'ol RECOMMENDED tag.
My favorite part of this book was Lane Hayes' closing with the following:

Have I become one picky bitch? Is everything annoying me for no good reason at all? I mean, I'm a fan of the author and I was absolutely sure I was gonna love this. I loved Alex in the previous books of the series but here, I wanted to punch him.
Nate
I liked Nate. At first I thought he would be the asshole, but he wasn't. But I felt there was something inconsistent with his character. When he first felt the attraction towards Alex he kind of freaked out internally.
"I gulped, wondering what the fuck was wrong with me. Why was I noticing this stuff? It wasn’t like me. At all."
BUT later on, we learn that not only this is not his first time with a man, but that in the past he was in a serious relationship with a guy and they were even planning on moving in together!! And suddenly he is wondering why he is salivating over a hot stud's abs?
Alex
Well...Alex was a great laid back guy...when he wasn't having hissy fits out of the blue and sometimes for stupid reasons. Like when he called Nate a racist because he was too self concious to speak Spanish.
And what the heck was up with the "pretend you 're my boyfriend so that my dad takes my coming out seriously"? This confused me too.
And at the end, why so much drama? I understand Nate carrying this big weight on his shoulders, but Alex? Throwing this last big tantrum for something that didn't concern him directly, instead of offering Nate support?
Also, Jules...The woman drove me nuts. She was acting like a teenager. Girl! He said no! Back off already!
It's not that I didn't like the story at all, I did and it was no hardship to finish this book. I guess I had a difficult time with the character development, is all. The sex as always is hot, the writing great and the HEA solid. For the fans of Lane Hayes, you should read it. Clearly I'm in the minority.
I do hope that the series continues.

4.25 Stars!
This has to be one of the perfect examples of a story where opposites attract.
Nate is a workaholic. He has a small group of friends he's friendly with. Other people he can do without. He's quite the loner and would rather be left alone. He's straight-ish. Owns and runs his real estate agency. He's crap at relationships and has accepted he'll die alone. But his new landlord is about the flip his world upside down and turn it wrong side out.
Alex is friendly and outgoing. He's generally a happy go lucky guy. He's close to his family. He's a retired soccer player who now owns and runs his own gym, Definition. He's gay and out to his friends and family. An incident in his past has scared him off of coming completely out. But meeting his new renter he's thinking he might be ready.
Nate wasn't looking for any new friends but Alex is a whirlwind that he gets swept up in. He's confused by not only his attraction to this man but the fact he wants to be around him all the time. He finds himself behaving and doing things he usually wouldn't because of Alex. And soon the attraction comes to head for both of them and things get heated pretty quickly. Things don't move as quickly though. I enjoyed the buildup of their relationship. It very much was a bit of a friends with benefits kind of relationship that turned into more without them realizing it. They were good for each other. Nate needed someone who made him live and feel. Alex did that for him. Alex needed someone he could depend on and trust to be there for the hard times. Nate was there for him.
I really liked this one. Maybe more than the first two which really surprised me. But I really liked them together. They had really great chemistry and they had some really sexy steamy scenes that felt authentic. I loved them.

I think I am part of the minority group who doesn't like this book. I just didn't like the couple... and MAINLY it had something to do with Alex.
This book is written from sole perspective of Nate Erickson. There is always something hugely appealing for me when the character seems to be aloof, not totally outgoing, prefer to be avoiding anything remotely social (except for closed friends), and dealing with pain or loss in an closed-off way. Maybe it's the introvert in me. So I did like Nate. As a character, I also thought Nate was pretty consistent throughout the book.
Alex, on the other hand, is a different story. I found him rather self-absorbed and all over the place. Alex makes everything to be about himself. The first time, when Alex accuses Nate of being racist, simply because Nate understands Spanish but doesn't speak it, I just crunched my head in confusion. Say what? He quickly judges Nate without asking why Nate doesn't practice Spanish? Then there are also asking Nate to be fake-boyfriend, so Alex could ease his father into his sexuality.
But the nail in the coffin for me is near the end when Well, excuuuse me Alex, but some people deal with pain and loss in his own way, okay? I sort of wish that at that moment, this story is about Nate reconnecting with his first love, Scott instead. Because somehow I thought the romance would be more meaningful, more emotional, something like Jake and Brandon from the previous book. I disliked it that Nate is the one to fix everything -- I kinda wanted to kick Alex out of the curb right about then.
I also need to write this opinion: most of the reviews that in favorable of this story like the sex scenes. I don't read romance for the sex. I skim a lot of sex scenes during my two decades reading romance -- and the fact that it's male/male sex scenes don't matter. I enjoy sex scenes when I feel for the characters; it should be something rewarding (in addition to the romance) rather that it's there just to add steamy level. Since I feel indifferent for Nate and Alex, I totally don't care for their sex scenes. Besides, I saw a couple of 'dirty talk' in it, and it turned me off real quick. I could see why MM readers enjoying the steamy level out of this, though.
On that note, I think this series doesn't do well for me (I only like book #2, both book #1 and this one are total misses). I think I will give up this series for good. Hayes' other series, Better Than, seem to work better for me in overall.

Housekeeping: This is book 3 of the series. But, it’s the only one I’ve read, and it works as a standalone.
I was excited to try this book…new-to-me author and some great ratings on Goodreads. Also, set in Los Angeles, where I lived for many years. Let’s do this!
The book started off ok…I was intrigued by Nate and what drove his workaholic self. There were clearly issues there between his divorce, and his friends-with-benefits Julie, and his running away to LA to “work”. He needed something…that was obvious. What surprised him to find was that "something" came in the form of his landlord, Alex.
Nate and Alex become friends, and though the attraction is there, both of the men think Nate is straight…so no hope for romance, right? You all know the answer to this! :)
The story is hot…with a slow build…and you really get the sense that a friendship is building more than trying to push a relationship. I liked that they went running together, ate dinners together, worked out together, surfed together…we get to know the guys and there was no rush there. And when they finally do explore their feelings, it’s SUPER SEXY.
What didn’t work for me: well, disappointingly, the be-my-fake-boyfriend card was thrown in (Alex, a former professional soccer player, wanted to come ‘out’ to his dad and the public and used Nate as a boyfriend-buffer) and it felt random. Alex, a strong, self-assured character, who embraces being gay, needs a fake boyfriend? It felt out of place.
Also, I had a REAL problem with the character of Julie. Look, I don’t doubt that there are plenty of women out there pining over a male friend, especially one that they’ve hooked up with before. But Julie was a hot mess and since we’re seeing her through Nate’s POV, she was kinda pathetic.
But, what really threw me for a loop, and admittedly, this is me just being super picky about something that may just annoy me: “He kissed my shoulder playfully, then licked a seductive trail to my left tit…” I think…after reading hundreds and hundreds of m/m books…this is the first time (that I can recall), seeing the word tit in a sex scene. And I’m not quite sure why…but it just really put me off. I realize it’s such a small thing, and a totally personal opinion. I had a really hard time getting past it though!
The story itself, and the book as a whole, was ok. The slow build, friends to lovers angles worked. The sometimes repetitive writing and the little irks I detailed above didn’t. I can see why so many people really enjoyed this one. For me, it was…ok.

Oh I wasn't expecting what I got. And that's a good thing.
I've got to say that this was my favorite in this series.
Nate and Alex meet and the attraction is immediate. They eventually agree to a mutually beneficial arrangement that involves some "mentoring" - mentoring that has quite the explosive results. Very nice results.
In the end, Nate realizes he needs to embrace life, feel more, and be present in the moment. Alex, in turn finds someone he can count on to make the tough choices that much more worth it.
A sexier and more emotional entry than the first two - I quite enjoyed this.

This is my fourth book by this author and I'm pleasantly becoming hooked on her books.
I was looking forward to reading Alex's story since he was introduced in "The Right Words". Alex is a sexy Latin ex soccer player who's still not quite out to the public eye but is also not hiding his sexuality. He rents out one of his apartments to the successful and quiet realtor business man Nate who is divorce, straight, and a workaholic. But when he meets Alex he can't help feeling an attraction towards him and Alex definitely likes what he sees in Nate, they start a tentative friendship that soon stars to get sexual.
"The Right Time" is another fantastic addition to this series and I've come to enjoy the slow burn of this author's books. It's actually one of my favorite things even though Nate/Alex feel the chemistry their sexual relationship starts up with touches, and looks just such a delicious built up. Nate/Alex were definitely sexy and Alex was such a dirty talker I loved how he made Nate blush. Another thing I liked about these guys was how different they were form each other personality wise and how each one brought the best of the other.
The thing I didn't like about this book was how Nate's past was handled. See, Nate went through something heartbreaking really heartbreaking, and I felt like he needed to mourn but it was rushed. Alex's attitude was so blasé like cry and move on. For me that kinda of pain it's not something you move on form more like you learn to live with. Otherwise I think I would of given this book a higher rating.
But regardless it's still was a fantastic read and plus it was great to see the guys from the other books. I hope to go back and read Brandon and Jake's book since I did skip it.❤

Hmmmmmm. A good read from a favored author of the genre. Alex, a retired pro soccer player, meets Nate, a loner businessman while Nate moves in next door temporarily while working on a project. Friendship, flirtation, and sparks fly.
There were a lot of little things I enjoyed about this installment of the series. My favorite part was the way music was woven in. Emphasis was placed on the way music makes you feel and think. "Music is life. It's the pulse, the beat. It's everything!" I wholeheartedly agree, and I loved that its poignancy was subtlely placed throughout the story.
I appreciated the steady growth of the romance that Hayes told. I will admit though, that I was a tad disappointed with how the climax and ending played out. I thought it was a bit dramatic and OTT. Alex was a pretty level-headed guy throughout most of the book. Nate made a point to talk about how good he (Alex) was at compartmentalizing his negative feelings. So Alex's diva moments felt a little out of character for me as the climax was playing out. And then it was like a finger snapping, and it was over. All ok. I got whip lash.
Overall very good story and well written. Little laugh out loud moments that resonated for me. "At thirty-six I was pretty sure I was too old to stand in any line that didn't lead directly to a caffeine infusion." Well done, but Bran's story is still my favorite.

Unsurprisingly, this was my favourite story of the series. I say "unsurprisingly" because this series and I seem to be suffering from an opposites of popular opinion effect - meaning, I felt fairly underwhelmed by the first two books, when everyone else seemingly loved them, and then here, where those same people weren't as impressed, I predicted I'd enjoy it. And I did.
Finally a series narrator who didn't do my head in. I really liked Nate. I could not say the same about either Luke or Bran - their personalities grated my last nerve. Here, I felt for Nate. I could probably even say I related to him in many ways. It also doesn't hurt that he and Alex were scorching hot together.
So, yeah, definitely the best in series, for me.

I really enjoyed this book, I'm not a huge fan of over angsty and unnecessary emotional roller coasters just for the purpose of drama, I liked that the emotions felt genuine and Alex and Nate felt real.

Liked the 3rd part of the Right And Wrong series. Alex (Alejandro *drool*) and Nate were just perfectly imperfect together. Loved their chemistry and the way they learned to build up a relationship.
As always Lane’s writing is excellent, the character development is well done, and the sex is sheet burning hot! The Right Time is an amazing addition to the series, an entertaining written book full of feelings and hot passion.

Hmm... This book was a good book. I loved this series ever since the first book but there was just something about this that left me feeling confused. Yes it was a good story but there were a lot of things that made me feel mehhhh about it. It's like for every good thing that I found there was something bad too.
I liked Alex and Nate as main characters. I thought they meshed really well and the progress of their relationship was good. Although I pictured Alex quite differently when I first met him in the first book. Anyway, Nate was the better one in my opinion. He seemed steady and logical. He was like a real character. Alex, on the other hand, I felt really disappointed. I was excited that he was going to get his own book but he left me feeling confused. I felt like he was bipolar sometimes or I just could not keep track of his emotions. I thought Nate saw that as a good thing but I didn't.
Alex made a big deal of almost a lot of things. The racism was like whaaaaat? I understood what he was trying to say but Nate wasn't even being a racist. Also the last part when his father mentioned something about Nate. Okay I was like wtf. Lemme put a spoiler tag but:
Anyway, I wasn't that bothered about Julie. I liked how the previous two couples appeared! The sex was hot. Alex and Nate were so fucking hot like let's be real. It was sweet and wonderful when the story is on point.
It could've been a lot better to be honest and I was quite disappointed because it's Alex's book! Anyway, the ending was just okay. I wish it was expound more than those summaries. It also took me a long time to finish because it was not one of those books that holds my attention for 24 hours.
Overall, a good read but the previous two books are better.

I'm wavering between 3 and 4 stars, but I'll go ahead and give it the bump.
I loved Nate and Alex, and felt their relationship grew in a great way. What I didn't get was why Alex kept talking about "coming out" to his father, when his father had known he was gay since he was 18. His father just didn't want it public, which, yeah, bad dad, but still, he knew Alex was gay.
The other thing that I didn't get was Alex's anger at the end revelation about Julie. Nate TRIED to tell him, and Alex said it didn't matter, it was in the past, he didn't need to know. Then what's with all the righteous anger? It just didn't fit his character and felt out of left field.
One thing that's kinda bugged me this whole series is all the characters seem to have this mini-mine field of secrets, just waiting for someone to bumble onto them, and leaving the reader wondering what the heck is going on. A year ago, fifteen years ago, four years ago, these things kept getting alluded to, but then the reveal wasn't that big, and I just wondered why these things didn't just come out naturally in the story, instead of making them seem larger than they really were.

This story was a bit of a mixed bag for me. I loved the slow burn, and the dirty talk, and the fact that I believed these men fit well together despite all of their differences.
But let's be real, there were some odd moments in this book.
I suppose it's a testament to this author's talent that I felt like I understood the characters so well as to know what they would think/feel/do given a certain situation. Unfortunately, how I felt sure that they would act when faced with mutual attraction and coming out of the closet more publicly wasn't what ended up being on the page. Alex suggesting to play Nate's wingman on his Big Gay Adventure and later asking him to be his "pretend" boyfriend so that he could have a visual aid when coming out (again) to his father, just didn't ring true to me. I felt like there was no way in hell these characters would be so boneheaded. Maybe if there had been a hint of self-awareness - a realization that the pretend boyfriend thing was a ridiculous idea and that Alex suggesting it was a deflection away from his growing feelings for Nate - I would have bought it. But taking those moments at face value was pretty hard to swallow.
Ultimately, I liked the couple and enjoyed the book, but I could do without the author trying to clumsily cram tropes into a book that doesn't need them; her characters and her writing can stand on their own without the gimmicks.

Book three in the Right and Wrong series, and this time it's Michael's Latino ex soccer buddy, Alex's turn to find the right man for him, only this time we actually get the story told from the POV of the newest cast member Nate, a friend of Jack's, who made an appearance in The Wrong Man.
Alex has always been an interesting background character in the books and I've been dying to see him fleshed out more. Now he's finally got his own story, I've got to say he's turned out to be one of my most favourite characters from the series. In fact he and Nate have pushed themselves into my 'top most loved Lane Hayes couples' list.
I adored the connection she forged between recently divorced, perfectionist Nate, and the more outgoing, free spirited sporty Alex; who from their first meeting in the apartment buildings elevator, totally knocked the seemingly straight workaholic for six. Nate is not an impulsive man but something about his gorgeous, vibrant new landlord and neighbour makes him lose his tightly reined in inhibitions. This charismatic, sexy man with a smile that slays him, brings out feelings in Nate that he's pushed far back. Having settled instead for a life and marriage of professional convenience, instead of allowing himself to follow his true Inclination.
The chemistry between him and Alex was perfection, even when they were just in friendship mode, but as the attraction spilled over into more than that and they move on to a fuck buddies style relationship, the sexual tension pulsated! I'm a ST whore and Lane Hayes never lets me down on that score, giving me the tummy flips on more than one occasion. Especially when the gorgeous Alex got Nate all of a dither, with his hot, take charge, hands on style of flirting....DAYUM!... there were some sexy, passionate stand offs between those two! Watching Nate claim, and begin to own, his true sexuality through those heated encounters was gorgeous.

Love, Love, LOVED this one!! I wanted Alex to get his own happy ever after all through this series, and yay it happened!! Not going into a lengthy review, Dani has done a great job as usual and used the quote that for me made the story worthwhile. 4.5 rounded up to 5 stars from me.
Alex was such a good person, so full of joy and life, but still couldn't get through to his father that he was definitely gay, and certainly wouldn't be going back into that closet for the sake of his career, now he was no longer playing professional football [and yes, that's football NOT soccer or American football, but the beautiful game as the rest of the world calls it].
I wasn't exactly sure how he and Nate were going to get together, cos Nate was so closed off and work-orientated BUT gradually Nate thawed and even admitted that he had actually been with a guy a long time ago, but no, he didn't have time for relationships and wasn't sure that he could actually go through with 'having sex with a guy thing' again. They came to a 'friends with bennies' arrangement, and for a while, that was enough for both of them BUT then Nate started to fall in love and had to start thinking about moving back to Oxnard for the sake of his sanity, cos he wasn't sure how Alex felt...and then the bomb dropped...wow!! Didn't see THAT one coming , but all's well that ends well. Thanks so much for this series Lane, it's been great.

5 Stars to the audiobook
I loved this story and loved it even more when I listened to the audiobook. Nate Erickson and Alex Reyes are two MC that will make you fall in love, add in the awesome narration by Michael Ferraiuolo and you have a 5 Star story. I love Lane Hayes' stories, they are real, they are honest, and they are about characters that could be your best friend. oh and the heat, did I mention that Lane Hayes knows how to write hot sex! Yes she does! You will never be left wanting in one of her stories as her characters know how to get down and dirty! Then add in the emotional element and you have me sold! There has not been a story by Lane Hayes that I have not loved.. this one just gets added to the list of masterpieces that will be revisited I am sure!

Am I a hater???
So something just did not work for me here. To start with, if you form a plan which is to be pretend boyfriends in exchange for sex at least start on the plan. These two never pretended anything. It went straight to boyfriends. I wanted to see some lying to yourself followed by self-discovery and honesty which can only happen if the pretend boyfriend thing happened.
Alex character didn’t seem well thought-out. I initially thought he was going to be a lighthearted Casanova, who didn’t take his hookups seriously, the way everyone was warning him from getting involved with Nate at first. I was excited for some drama but sadly no, not the kind I got. There was also A LOT going on that distracted from the relationship development. Work, gym workouts, volunteer coaching at the LGBT youth center, wing manning, a relationship from 15 years ago and parents dying….like WTF. Why can’t I just get a nice straight guy seduced into gay sex glory by a Latino soccer player too hot to resist.

Pretty uneven for me: started out great, but as the story progressed I felt that the author threw in problems and issues only to keep the story going, but they didn't make much sense to me, especially the one in the end. It all just felt contrived, and in the end I skipped most sex scenes, because I was bored. Oh, and aggravated by Alex, who was sweet and open one moment and distant the next. And the final confrontation was completely out of the blue for me, as Nate's secret did in no way affect Alex or their relationship IMO. Plus we never learn if Nate did something eventually to bridge the gap with his brother, though throughout the book it appears as if he really wants to.
Pretty uneven for me: started out great, but as the story progressed I felt that the author threw in problems and issues only to keep the story going, but they didn't make much sense to me, especially the one in the end. It all just felt contrived, and in the end I skipped most sex scenes, because I was bored. Oh, and aggravated by Alex, who was sweet and open one moment and distant the next. And the final confrontation was completely out of the blue for me, as Nate's secret did in no way affect Alex or their relationship IMO. Plus we never learn if Nate did something eventually to bridge the gap with his brother, though throughout the book it appears as if he really wants to.

Time Waits for No Man
Nate is a workaholic, sleep, run, work, same old routine everyday. He and his business partner design premises for different purposes and oversee the cost and construction process. He’s very good at his job and he loves it.
Emotionally, he keeps himself locked down like a clam in the sea outside his designer home in L.A. That way he can keep all his baggage out of sight and out of mind. He doesn’t have many friends and he likes being alone.
So when he arrives in the city for his next Project, and meets his new landlord he feels as though hit by a tsunami. How can he get him to leave him in peace, to turn down his loud music, leave him ALONE.
Alex Reyes is a recently retired famous Soccer player. He is a ray of sunshine no matter where he is or who he is with, family, friends, or business clients. He didn’t want to retire, he did it for love, but his lover walked away, back into the closet of his marriage.
Alex now runs an elite fitness gym, with top class athletes as his clients, he also has a couple of condos that he leases out. He is very close to his family, his father and his sister and her family.
His new tenant feels so lost and lonely, so Alex does what he does best, he swamps him in kindness, and his sunshiny personality.
Why is Nate such a hard nut to crack, (forgive that pun)? What has made him such a difficult person to get to know?
Alex makes it his business to find out.

I’ve now read a few of Lane Hayes books and enjoyed them very much. I want to read more of her other series. She really did a great job in character development. Here with both Nate and Alex. They were so different, both of them leaped off the pages as very different people who somehow found something to draw each other in. Alex is so endearing and I loved his bright personality, despite his sorrows.
Characters from the previous two book also feature strongly here.
‘The Right Words’ is Michael and Luke’s story while ‘ The Wrong Man’ tells the story of Brandon and Luke. I loved all 3 of these stories and recommend the series for your reading pleasure.

J'aime beaucoup cette série, et ce tome ne fera pas exception à la règle. Je regrette de ne pas avoir écrit mon avis dans la foulée de ma lecture car j'aurais sans nul doute été plus inspirée et prolixe que maintenant ...
C'est encore une belle histoire avec des personnages attachants que Lane Hayes nous conte ici, au coeur de la Californie. Séparément, Alex et Nate sont de très beaux personnages, des hommes attachants que j'ai aimé découvrir. Ensemble ? Ils forment un très beau couple, craquant, tendre et sexy, avec une belle complicité.
Malgré les écueils qu'ils rencontrent, leur histoire reste simple, et très fluide. C'est beau de les voir passer du temps ensemble. Alex est un mec vraiment très simple, cool, le genre de mec sympa qui ne se prend pas la tête et prend la vie du bon côté. À l'inverse, Nate est plus coincé, solitaire, il ne vit que pour son boulot. Grâce à Alex, il va lâcher du lest, et se lâcher ... tout court.
Lane Hayes laisse transparaître toute sa tendresse pour ces hommes qui s'aiment, et c'est quelque chose que j'apprécie particulièrement chez elle. Ses histoires sont douces, sexys et tendres, avec des personnages attachants, et elle verse peu dans le drama. Cependant il y a ici quelques moments OTT et un Alex qui joue parfois les divas avec ses réactions que je juge disproportionnées, mais je n'en tiens pas rigueur à l'autrice pour autant.
La romance est belle, sexy, complice et romantique, c'est le genre de relation amoureuse qui me réchauffe le coeur et me comble de bien-être, bref, un bon gros shot de feel-good qui fait vraiment du bien !

2.5 Only for the writing because this story just pissed me off. It seems this is another case of "it's not you book, it's me". Perhaps I overdosed on this author reading nearly everything on her back list back to back in the last week. Perhaps I expected to much out of the characters or had a subconscious expectation of where the story should go. I'm really not sure. All I can say is that it was well written as any of her others, it was a light contemporary with glimpses of past characters that I liked and loved, and I hated it. I didn't like Nate from his previous appearances and I really liked Alex. In their own book, I didn't like either of them but I grew to grudgingly like Nate and loathed Alex by the end.
Alex was an overgrown child who needed anger management classes to teach him some general grown up coping skills, and Nate needed general social skills. Maybe it's easier for me to forgive Nate because my own social skills are lacking but he sure as hell had more patience than I ever will have. I didn't care for the story line with Julie who after 18 months should have been tossed into therapy by her close personal friends if she was still not coping to that level but I disliked Alex's reaction to it even more considering it happened before he'd ever met Nate. His sense of entitlement to every detail of Nate's past, when he was living his own lie went beyond annoying to just plain pissing me off.
As I said, I'm definitely the minority so don't let my thoughts turn you away. If you are a Lane Hayes fan you should give it a shot. I'm just glad it was the last of her books that I read and not the first.

I had a hard time finishing this book because it just didn't hold my interest. I can objectively see why people liked it because it had some popular elements but for me, it was going through the motions. Maybe the biggest obstacle I had was that I didn't click with either character so I couldn't buy into caring about their relationship. The hints hints hints about Julie were heavy handed, too. I don't know. Wasn't for me. Ymmv.
