Another super simple one that just features a big ol' baby face on every page, with an adjective + noun phrase underneath to help teach colors and, in this case, garments/accessories. Even a grownup who is very bored with this book will smile at the "yellow feather boa!" grand finale. The first ten gazillion times, at least.
If you're looking for a gift and you just want to choose one from the "zoomed in baby face photos" genre, I'd probably start with Baby Faces. It's smaller, has more faces, and it's made of a material that's less hard to chew up. But we got this (and another one called Baby Talk) as hand-me-downs and our kid loves them all.
Assorted and diverse baby faces with colored accessories. Nothing notable, but just fine for a baby who likes looking at baby faces! The final baby is "yellow feather boa", which I always sort of shout with glee.
This book is great, but we didn't like it because of the colors as intended. The pics of the babies are such great close ups, that instead we focused on pointing out facial parts like eyes, ears, noses, chins and so forth. We're still getting the hang of colours. Any day now. 🔴🔵
Simple words and big fun pictures make this book a great one for my toddler. The basic concepts are communicated effectively and the photos of other babies keeps him engaged.
E's first library book! He slept through the whole storytime, so he doesn't know he's read this one, but he totally has! Anyway, this one is fine. Lots of baby faces, if your baby will actually open his eyes to look at them. Heh...
Who doesn't love colors? Seriously. This book was quite a bit better than I expected. The photography of the babies is vivid and very well done, capturing the little ones with remarkable attention to their outstanding features, things like especially bright eyes or irresistible smiles. This is first and foremost a book designed to help teach colors, of course, and the colors as presented are strong, vibrant and memorable. This is one of the best books of its type that I've ever seen, and I'd easily push the rating to one and a half stars.
Age appropriate for children 0-12 months, the concept of color is visually and textually communicated in this labeled photo book. I Love Colors is an excellent book to share with a baby, who at this stage enjoys studying and looking at human faces. Developmental milestones of size, shape and color recognition are explicitly addressed as the caregiver supports the development of vocabulary skills by reading this board book to the child and talking to the child as objects and colors are identified in this board book.
Fritz is doing well with reading. "Blue hat" is his favorite. He's getting better with this. Beetle picked this up immediately. Fritz seems to be following suit. He was a bit tired today, so we only really have blue, green, and yellow down pat. ****
Fritz is doing much better with this book now. He reads the entire thing, although he rarely says "feather" with "yellow feather boa".
This book used to be one of Devin's favorites, and is a great way for kids to learn their colors. He's graduating past this book now, but when we started reading it, he picked it every day, and giggled at most of the baby pictures.
I still like looking at baby faces. Only reason why a four star book versus five star book, is that the ending with yellow feather boa, is really strange for a baby book.
