Kick-arse King Wulff finally meets his match with Princess Kathlyn. So much good stuff with the rest of the brothers coming along to help turn the lights on. Her father is the nasty piece of crap you will ever meet and deserves to die a horrible death. I sure hope this isn't the end of this series cause now I want to know more about Indy.

3.5 Stars. While I enjoyed getting a different side of the fearless leader, Wulf's story felt a bit long winded. If the extra pages offered something that needed to be eased into, I would understand, but I felt the book could've been 100 pages less and still have had the same effect.

Kathlyn was a good match for Wolf. She offered a contrast that complimented Wulf and showed strength is an indirect way. I liked her a lot. I also liked who Wulf was with her. She smoothed out some of his edges.

The plot was interesting and continued an overall arc that's spanned the series in a seamless manner. It used elements already in place well. There wasn't much utilization of secondary characters until the end but it served to emphasize the developing relationship all the better.

The sex was hot but not to the degree we have seen in previous books in the series. In fact, I found it rather tame compared to how Wulf got down in his previous cameos. While it added a little more depth to him, I found it harder to reconcile him to the previous version we were exposed to.

All in all an enjoyable read. Safety: No others for either after they get together. No rape, but the threat of it. Yes to abuse.

ARC received in exchange for an honest review.

I had bigger expectations of Wulf. I really liked the fearless, cunning Raider King in the previous books and part of his appeal was the fact that one never knew what hides behind the deceptively lazy stance. Still it was nice to see another side of him, a more humane side and learn more about how and why he became the Raider King. I loved how he played with the King of the Western Highlands :D One of my major disappointments was that the old bastard died was too easily. He should have suffered! Kathlyn was a great character and I loved her inner strength. She's a good match for Wulf, something I wasn't sure of when she was first introduced.

The overall plot of the series was given a satisfying ending and at the same time opens up the possibility for other books and expanding of the world. So hopefully Megan Crane will continue the series.

The fourth and final story in The Edge series by Megan Crane ties together some of the overall plot of the series begun in Edge of Obsession and gives an exciting, action packed and sexy finale! While it can be read as a standalone (there are enough explanatory bits that a new reader could find their way), it benefits from having read the previous three books.

Wulf has been a character in all of them, a hard-edged Raider King who gives no quarter. He and his clan are determined to deal with the sadistic mainland King Athenian once and for all. He’s set himself up as bait, showing up alone at the gates to King Athenian’s mountain compound with a truce proposal that in reality is meant to draw attention away from reports of Raiders’ appearances on the mainland. In three weeks time, at the spring equinox, his men will join him, and his plans will come to fruition – if he can just be patient and wait (not his best trait).

Princess Kathlyn is ready to do something about her virginity. A commodity that her father the King has held over her head for so long, she desperately longs to be in control of just one thing in her life, and she’s chosen this. Her mother was murdered in front of her eyes by her father, and she knows that fate will also befall her sometime soon. When she shows up in Wulf’s room dressed as a courtesan, Wulf is amused. He can see through her act to the innocent she really is and though he finds her very attractive (and the idea of claiming her innocence is quite intriguing), they are interrupted before the deed is done. But it leads to a chain of events that neither saw coming. For Wulf, his attraction to Kathlyn leads to decisions and actions that put him in danger of forgetting his ultimate mission. For Kathlyn, Wulf’s attitude and clearly leashed strength challenge her to not give in to the status quo and to fight for a different future. Time is not on their side. Will they survive King Athenian’s vicious plans and see their way through to a happy ending?

This dystopian future is not for the faint of heart. Women are commodities forced into ‘winter marriages’ planned by their rulers in hopes they’ll get pregnant, as the low birth rate is a danger to the survival of the human race. If they don’t, they are paired up with a new partner the following winter. Virginity is prized and bartered. Men are in charge, whether in a religious compound where the priests and bishops force women to be their sex slaves or in enclaves ruled by Kings who treat women basically the same. The exception is Raider compounds where sex is much more satisfying and fully participated in by the women (colloquially known as ‘camp pussy’). These dichotomous views on sex are ones Kathlyn is just learning. Preparing her whole life for a painful and/or drab sex life, she finds pleasure and passion with Wulf – and once experienced, she isn’t willing to give that up without a fight. I loved seeing her find her inner strength and bravery, showing herself to be a true Princess. In the face of a cruel and sadistic father she has survived, but now she is truly thriving.

He was already a King. She made him feel like a God.

Wulf finds himself truly in a predicament. This innocent beguiling woman captures something in his heart that he refuses to acknowledge. It threatens to wreck his plans of revenge – not because he feels guilty about wanting to kill her father the King, as it’s clear he treats his daughter as cruelly as he does everyone else. But she’s a distraction, and he finds himself sometimes diverted from his true task of surveillance and reconnaissance because he can’t help seeking her out. Of course, it doesn’t help that there are multiple assassination attempts on his life to contend with too. Wulf provides a lot of the humor in this story, with his sarcasm and wit. And never let it be said he’s not a generous lover. He and Kathlyn share some very steamy scenes together.

Wulf finds in Kathlyn an equal and worthy partner, something he never thought he needed. She may have started out as innocent but never naive as to her worth and place in her father’s compound. She longed for a winter marriage just to escape. Now, with Wulf, she finds herself no longer willing to settle. She’ll fight for her future or die trying. As the story progresses, the action heats up until it comes to an explosive finale. I won’t give away the ending except to say that the story arc of the series comes to a fitting conclusion. At the same time some interesting secondary characters are introduced, so with any luck, there will be a spin-off series! Edge of Power is a fitting end to The Edge series with a sexy, exciting and action-packed tale of lust, revenge, brotherhood and true love.

4* for the Raider King and his virgin Princess!!!

spoilers

As I skipped the previous book there were parts of the plot that I didn't quite get but it in no way hindered my thorough enjoyment of this one.
Wulf goes to Kathlyn's father's kingdom on a pretend peace mission. He manages to bs his way in and is given a room, Kathlyn sneeks into his room to get the feared Raider King to rid her of her pesky virginity so it can no longer get used as a bargaining tool by her evil father. He refuses, but is drawn to the beautiful princess.
What follows is a public mounting, assassination attempts and the Raiders completion of their quest to turn back on the lights for everyone.
I adored Kathlyn, though she is a virgin and had been very controlled her entire life she was no simpering miss. She wasn't a warrior like Eiryn but she was able to build her courage, stand up to Wulf and even try to protect him. She was the perfect mate for the king.
Wulf we know from previous books is a fierce and respected leader of his lands. He's all about his clan, his brothers and p***y. To see him brought down by an innocent virgin was a beautiful thing.Though this book wasn't as hot as previous books in the series the few encounters satisfied my smutty little heart 😂
Unfortunately while there were tons of good in this book, and I enjoyed Kathlyn's coming into herself I found the mcs didn't have as much time together as I would've liked. Considering Wulf was supposed to be guarded and Kathlyn was watched heavily their time together was infrequent which made the ily seem out of the blue. Also I understood his reason for leaving her and seriously appreciated the fact that he was celibate during their separation but I wanted him to be the one to go back to her. Yet I've learnt to appreciate the good I get in my books so The Raider King and his princess made it to my favorites shelf and I'm on to the last (😭) in this series to date.

Wulf has to be my favourite warrior so far from The Edge series so far, his cocky devil may care attitude was fantastic, he could be ruthless, yes, but there was another Wulf he'd never shown anyone before he'd met Princess Kathlyn.
After he gets himself captured, he awaits for his brothers to arrive to destroy his enemies leader (a nasty dude to be sure). Wulf was built like a stallion and wasn't shy when asked to performed, and when they finally got to fighting the story got really exciting.
I hope there's going to be more, there's still plenty of single guys to go around. I loved this series!

I wanted to love this story because Wulf! But 90% of the book dragged. Like seriously dragged I almost DNF. And I'm not gonna lie, I was pissed that the whole book took place somewhere other than the eastern islands. And we barely got any of the brothers. So yeah, I'm super disappointed.

re-read 1/14/24.
still disappointing the second time around.

I've only recently started reading this series of Megan Crane and have found what I have read is fairly good. There is a combination of historical mixed in with current time frame that makes for a curiously great combination. The world that we know it has come to the end, lives have been destroyed and the ones in charge are necessarily trying to protect the rest of humanity. And then, of course, there are the Raiders. My initial impression was Vikings when I first began the series. Now I know, they are the saviors of humanity! Getting a bit ahead of myself here, let me backtrack a bit.

Princess Kathlyn has been suffering at the hands of her evil father, King Athenian, all her life. His control extends to everything, including who she will give her virginity to. Wulf is king of his clan and he is planning to take the evil king down. Alone he enters King Athenian's castle on the pretense he wants to make peace so that the invasions between them would stop. He puts up a good front and hides his intelligence, but he's in for a big surprise when Kathlyn sneaks into his room and more so when he finds out why.

Wulf is all that and a box of chocolate. Cunning, strong, and so sexy, it's not a big wonder why he's the King of the Raiders. From the very beginning we know he's playing the king but not the real why. Kathlyn is sheltered and abused her whole life. You think she's meek but when the time calls for it, her strong side comes out. The two together are explosive. I'd say he brings out her inner strength but really it was already there, Wulf was just the catalyst, the trigger to bring it out.

If you haven't read any of the previous books in this series, which would be a shame because they were great, have no fear. Author Megan Crane does a great job of explaining this apocalyptic world without boring previous readers. The action is fast-paced, the romance is smoking, a great reintroduction of previous characters, and an ending that will leave you smiling. I can't quite tell of Edge of Power is the last in the series. The story feels complete and yet I can see so much more happening. I'm hoping it's not because I would love to see where the future for this world goes. Besides meeting their mates and the HEAs, I would like to know was the whole reason why Wulf and his Raiders go after the evil king really worth it all. Either way, two thumbs up for this book and Ms. Crane.

This series has been fascinating. Wulf as the king of the Raider Clan after floods covered most of the earth. They are considered the scavengers by most of those left. They have been trying to figure out power for those that have lost power and when a mission led them to the western mainlands last year they saw lights everywhere, hoarded by the church and the Kings, except the church is not what it professes to be and it's Wulf's mission to go into King Athenian's kingdom to prevent a war that he was tipped off to and to be able to give others the light everyone deserves.

When Wulf gets there he meets Princess Kathlyn yet she presents herself as a courtesan. He realizes right away that she is not a courtesan and doesn't take advantage of that although he does give her a taste of what he is and what he can do for her.

This begins a set of events that cannot be undone and he tryst very hard to save her humiliation. Through these events they grow closer to one another. Except her father loves to play mind games and is a tyrant who enjoys abusing her.

Wulf has to make it twenty-one days before his brothers get there to take the castle and kill the king. Will he be able to stay alive or will the King kill him as he has wanted to do and will he also kill Kathlyn? Will they find the power and be able to restore some of it? Will he and Kathlyn be married?

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Four and a half stars, I deducted half a star because there wasn't enough of the way out Viking marauder sex for my liking!

Wulf, the Raider King has crossed the seas in Winter to confront King Athenian who, he has learned, plans to wipe out the Raider settlements. Alone Wulf enters Athenian's stronghold and acts like the stupid barbarian Athenian thinks he is. Holed up in a cell made to look like a luxurious apartment Wulf wanders the castle by night seeking the entrance to the power station which gives Athenian his power over the Compliant.

When a scantily dressed woman enters his rooms he thinks at first that his request for food, wine and pussy has been granted but it only takes him seconds to realise that although the woman might be dressed as a courtesan she is anything but. Wulf's mysterious visitor is none other than Kathlyn, the King's virgin daughter who offers her virginity to Wulf.

Most of this book centres around Kathlyn, her father and Wulf. Athenian is bat-shit crazy, a mean man, made worse by his power. He has been hoarding Kathlyn's virginity to sell to the highest bidder and consolidate his power by giving her to his allies as a Winter Bride. As Wulf hides his true nature and continues his reconnaissance he finds himself fascinated by the beautiful princess, so soft and weak - unlike the raider women of his home.

I loved this book, in the previous books Wulf was an omniscient King cold-hearted and ruthless. IN this book we get to see his softer side and why exactly he had his own father crippled (totally deserved it by the way). The cruel rituals of the Compliant are exposed in all their absurdity and their need to humiliate and dominate women. You read with bated breath wondering if Wulf can balance the tightrope long enough for his men to complete their missions and meet him at Equinox.

This series has everything. It's a post-apocalyptic, swords, castles and princesses, mad cults and priests, hot group sex, Viking mash-up. I mean, come on! Viking marauders, sword fights, a virgin princess, a mad King and evil rituals which see a man take a woman's virginity before the entire court? What's not to love? This series just gets better and better. I'm guessing Indy might be the subject of the next book ...

Already eagerly anticipating the next book.

"He'd somehow woken her up."
description

Edge of Power is the 4th book in the Edge Series. Each book can be read as a stand-alone, but as always it’s best to read the series from the beginning to grasp the full scope of these characters and this complex plot. This fourth book of the series does not disappoint as the mysteries of this alternative world are revealed in a truly epic way.

description
"She'd lived more that night in his arms than in all her previous years combined."
Wulf the Raider King has invaded the domain of his mortal enemy in order to seek vengeance and he is out for blood. Allowing his enemies to believe they have “captured him” he lies in wait for his allies and brothers to join him so that they can bring wrath on the evil King and his entire Kingdom. When Kathlyn the virgin princess enters his prison/chamber, he is taken by her beauty and fearless demeanor.

description
"How vulnerable and overwhelming and important it felt to have another person inside of her, moving in ways she couldn't control."
Kathlyn has suffered years of abuse by her father’s hand and Wulf offers Kathlyn a hope that she has never experienced before. If Kathlyn can give herself to Wulf, she will no longer be used as a bargaining chip by her father. Tired of being manipulated and abused, she is desperate. Is Wulf a savior or is he a devil in disguise? The stakes are high for Kathlyn and Wulf and survival is on the line. Is it possible for a ruthless Viking King to win the heart of this virgin princess and if he succeeds, will he be able to keep her by his side?

description
"He knew exactly how she tasted. He knew how she sounded when she came loud and how it felt when she came quiet How the fuck was he supposed to concentrate?"
Told in dual POV, Edge of Power is full of action and suspense as the horrors of this alternative world are revealed. Each book in this series features an unapologetic alpha male hero who is ruthless in every aspect of his life (to include the bedroom). Wulf is especially unique with his spy/stealth talents which drive the action through every single page turn. I found Kathlyn to be an ideal match for the Viking King, and as always, the passion between the two is off the charts. In this world, sexuality is free, and pleasure is as accessible as breathing. The writing style of this series is quite dense meaning each and every detail of the setting is painted with vibrant colors throughout the text. The plot is complex and with each book in the series more of the mystery and intrigue is revealed.

description

Overall, I have enjoyed this series and Wulf certainly did not disappoint. If you enjoy escaping to an alternative universe with a world with no electricity, sexual freedom, and smoking hot VIKING MEN than look no further, this is the series for you!

Every time I read a new Megan Crane book it reminds me how much I love new Megan Crane books. I enjoy her books so much that I keep expecting that I probably won't like the next one, because my luck really isn't all that great, but the next one is as great as the last one if not better; each and every time.

Wulf is a smoking hot dominating alpha male, The King of The Raiders, a clan of tough as nails. Masters at hand to hand combat in this amazingly described dystopian earth, which reminded me some of the sectors in the Hunger Games, at least the "high class city" where he holes up as a "prisoner/guest" to take down their horribly cruel and currupt dictactor king, who also happens to be the father of the most sexy beautiful princess Kathlyn.

The citizens in this "sector" are hoarding the electric power source for themselves and King Wulf has added liberating the power for the benefit of the entire population in this frozen wetlands of a planet to his list of objectives going into this mission. While an important reason it isn't his most compelling reason and Wulf has many reasons to kill King Athenian thus ending his reign of tyranny. The fact that he's abused Kathlyn her entire life, belittling her and beating her has just jumped that to the top of his to list.

Princess Kathlyn was a great character herself. Seeing her transformation from the beginning o the end was almost poetic. The combination of her soft to Wulfs hard was simply perfect.

Megan Crane does a wonderful job weaving through all of their emotions and is a descriptive genius. I just can't say enough about this series, The Edge. Pick up a copy, if not all of them as soon as possible, you will not be disappointed. Although a series, each title can be read as a stand-alone novel but together they tell a truly fantastic story.

Book 1: Edge of Obsession published 1-5-16 (Tyr & Helena)
Book 2: Edge of Temptation published 4-5-16 (Gunnar & Maud)
Book 3: Edge of Control published 7-5-16 (Riordan & Eiryn)
Book 4: Edge of Power published 3-7-17 (Wulf & Kathlyn)

I appreciated the opportunity to read this book and Thank Netgalley and St Martin's Press for the ARC in exchange for a honest review.

I was a bit disappointed with this book. Overall, it was good, but I didn't like how the hero constantly referred to the heroine as weak, just because he wasn't a fighter. She's been living with a monstrously abusive father her entire life; she's not weak. I'm looking forward to the story about her brother.

I found this treasure of a book on NetGalley, so here I am, reviewing it as agreed. This is the fourth book of the dystopian, sexually charged, bloody and badass The Edge Series.

All along, we've been following this group of marauding post-apocalyptic Viking-like warriors, all who blindly and loyally follow their King, Wulf. Well, this fourth book is about Wulf, and the tiny, soft, sweet, innocent princess who captures his warrior king heart.

Throughout the series, we're met with this powerful king who looks as at home lazing on his throne as he did rutting between a camp-girl's thighs. He earned his crown with blood, and he reigns with blood and strength and strategy. In order to bring down the church and the Western Kingdoms that threaten their way of life, the brotherhood decides to meet the enemy on their own turf, but that means King Wulf has to step up and act the distraction...but what he doesn't expect is to find his own distraction--in the form of the enemy king's beautiful, virgin daughter.

I loved how strong yet gentle Wulf could be. I loved how soft yet hard Kathlyn could be, and together...BANG, they were explosive. I truly enjoyed this story, much more than the other stories in this series, even though it does have public sex in the form of a disgusting and ridiculous "mounting ceremony". I am SO GLAD King Athenian got his throat slit by a true king.

Seriously... Ms. Crane must have been looking at pictures of Travis Fimmel while writing Wulf. He is who I envisioned while reading this book.

Isn't he PERFECT for the sexy, Viking warrior king?

Yep, still love this a lot.

First read: December 2017

WOW I HAVE TEARS IN MY EYES-

I knew Wulf's book was gonna be great but I didn't expect it to be this great. I couldn't stop reading once I started and now I'm going to be in a book hangover and half-ass all my assignments-

[Possible triggers: domestic abuse, sexual abuse mentions]

It’s hard not to be intrigued by Wulf. He’s unmistakably king—he’s unbeatable in fights, ruthless, sharp as tack, and he carries himself in a way that makes people want to follow him. This has been obvious from the first book—he has always been a sort of enigma to me and I’m glad that we got the chance to be in his head in this book. I spent most of my time fearing for his life in Edge of Power—there was a lot of mind games and behind-the-scenes strategy playing in this, and it put me at the edge of my seat. The plot is definitely the best in this book.

I never imagined who or how Wulf’s future heroine would be like, but Kathlyn was a great match for him. Like Maud, she’s soft but she also has a quiet strength to her, and I love that Wulf especially is so hell-bent on preserving and protecting her softness. Their relationship developed on a basis of trust and I found that fascinating, considering Kathlyn’s father has been trying to kill Wulf and eliminate the raiders for years. I love how soft Wulf is with Kathlyn, and I love how Kathlyn tried earnestly to spare and protect Wulf from her father as if Wulf needed protecting. Out of all the couples in the series, I was most invested in Wulf and Kathlyn, mainly because Kathlyn suffers enough at her father’s hands and deserves a HEA with Wulf.

I reviewed the whole series on Romances Ever After.

First let me say I love all things Megan Crane. I especially like this series and that’s amazing since dystopian romance isn’t my usual thing. I’ve read all of the preceding books in this series and enjoyed them all. I was very much looking forward to Wulf’s story. In the previous books he has been an enigmatic character, a king of the band of raiders living outside of the kingdom, a man who rules his tribe, looks ultimately at ease with doing what needs to be done and one that is the ultimately bad boy. He ventures out into the kingdom in all of his arrogance in a quest to prevent a war and to get the precious electrical power that only the privileged ones in the kingdom has.
When he arrives at the kingdom, he meets Princess Kathlyn, the virgin daughter of the kingdom’s ruler. The plot thickens and Kathryn’s father puts a plan in place to throw Wulf off kilter. There’s suspense because Wulf has to survive 21 days until his band of brothers arrive to save him and assassinate the king.
This whole series has taken me hostage and I can’t wait for the next book in the series to continue this saga.

Ok

Ok, what I liked. The story itself was good. The connection once again between the main characters very passionate. You can really feel the emotions in the characters. What I couldn’t stand? So friggin wordy, I fell asleep no less than four times reading this. Do u really need pages upon pages to describe what u feel or the description of a room? Seriously? At 47% the main characters actually interacted only twice I think the rest was blah, blah, blah crap. I skipped the second book to read this one, I was so looking forward to Wulf’s story and ended up being so disappointed. I was looking for more dominance from a king at least with Kathlyn. I understood his plan, but he could have been a bit more with just her. I also would have liked more interaction between the two of them. So I gave this author 2 books, she is just not what I was looking for, I won’t be reading a third. Sorry🙃

WELL, PERSONALLY THIS INSTALLMENT LEFT ME FEELING ANTICLIMACTIC. I CAN'T HELP BUT SEE A PATTERN OF SIMILARITIES WITH THE WAY THE AUTHOR FASHIONED HER STORIES SURROUNDING THIS SERIES. FOR THE FIRST TIME I WISHED THE HEROINE WAS BADASS.

WULF had my attention from the first time Helena described him in her story. And I was ecstatic to read his story, jumping straight to this one. Sadly, it didn't meet my expectations and was a bit long-winded. It's like a situation that could have been explained in a sentence, was done in a chapter....I kid you not. While I do appreciate the explanations that build a deeper connection, this was the first time I asked myself when it was going to get to the good stuff. The sex was good but nothing compared to Tyr and Helena's more passionate and breathtaking foreplay. Wulf may be a warrior who relies on his brawns but stepping into the enemy King's court requires tactical finesse. As the gilded but willing prisoner of the King, Wulf never expected the Princess to grace herself with her appearance, wanting him to rid her of her virginity. There's a first for everything right?

KATHRYN didn't meet my expectations of a heroine worthy of Wulf. While she has been struggling in the power court of her father's political and tyranical thumb, this time she found a way to rebel for good - and that was to gift her virginity to Wulf, the raider King. As a virgin and compliant, Wulf was like a sensual whirlwind that overloaded her senses. Comparing all the men in her father's court, Wulf was raw in every way that mattered setting her girly parts aflutter. Sadly, I did wished for a determined Princess to be stronger, braver and defiant. Okay, she may be defiant in a quiet manner, but her chemistry with Wulf just felt SUPER ANTICLIMACTIC.

OVERALL the ending proved that Helena achieved her goal and brings closure to this series. But sadly, I guess Wulf's story will not take precedence of Tyr and Helena's. That one was gold in my book.

Edge of Power is the 4th book in Megan Crane's The Edge and my favorite so far. I really hope there is more to come in this series! This book takes place right after the events of the 3rd book. I suppose you could read it as a stand alone by why would you when the whole series is really good and you get so much more out of knowing the characters in this book from the earlier books.

This book centers around Wulf who is the King of the Raiders and his mission to kill the King of the Western Mainland and get the power turned back on in the world. Wulf walks right into the kingdom in order to get information and serve as a distraction while the rest of his raiders prepare for the assault. Although it turns out Wulf may be distracting the King of the West but his daughter is distracting Wulf in a completely different way.

In the previous book we met Kathlyn the daughter of the King of the West. She's lived a life that is hard to imagine. She's been almost brainwashed to accept her role in life which is to remain a virgin until her father sells her off to loose her virginity in a disturbing public fashion called a mounting ceremony. Her father is ruthless and cruel and Kathlyn survives in the only way she knows how by masking her feelings and showing the world a serene and accepting face. However, she has a core of steel that we saw in the third book when she warned the raiders of her father's plan. She decides not to sit back and let her life be planned out for her and instead takes action by sneaking into Wulf's cell. She wants him to take her virginity but she isn't nearly ready for the reaction she has to Wulf and Wulf certainly doesn't expect the reaction he has to her.

This book was a little slower on the action then the previous books and more about the character growth of both Wulf and Kathlyn and their relationship. The sex wasn't quite as dirty, plentiful or filthy but the scenes between the two still burnt up the pages and were still dirty and scorching hot!

Wulf was still the big, bad Alpha warrior king I came to know and love in the first three books and watching him rein in his temper and savage nature while he waited for the time to be right was entertaining and fun. He's still the same in your face warrior who knows just how lethal and bad he is and Kathlyn can't believe she's the only one who truly notices just how dangerous he is.

I loved Kathlyn and Wulf together - they were a perfect match. The chemistry leapt off the pages and this book had by far the best character development. Kathlyn brought out a softer side to Wulf and he helped her find her courage and bring out the strength she already had. When the book was finished I was completely satisfied and yet still hoping for more of them!

If you haven't started this series and you like an edgy, dark, dirty romance then start now! If you're a fan of the series this one won't let you down and will leave you hungry for more. I hope to see a lot more of this world!

A copy of this book was provided to me by NetGalley and the publisher with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book and my comments here are my honest opinion.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

Outstanding addition to the Edge series! Wulf has been a mysterious character from the beginning and my fascination with him has only increased with each book. Needless to say, I could not wait to get my grabby hands on Edge of Power. And Crane did not disappoint as she weaved the tale of the Raider King, the Western Highland Princess, and a love that neither ever expected to find, let alone with each other.

If you’ve read the series from the beginning – and I strongly recommend that you do because a major series arc comes to a head in Edge of Power – you know that while all the raiders in the brotherhood are fierce, there are none more so than Wulf, the Raider King. Which is precisely what makes his infiltration of King Athenian’s mountain compound so amusing because few men would walk right up to the front gate of the man who’s sent dozens of assassins to kill him. It also made being inside Wulf’s head riveting as he forced himself to tamp down his natural inclination to fight, as he forced himself to appear dimwitted, as he forced himself to bide his time and appear to play into the king’s games, and as he found someone who made him rethink is decision to live his life alone. As for that someone, watching Princess Kathlyn adapt to the new world she was thrust into as her blinders were ripped off and she began to see the darker side of the world she lived it was intriguing. That she was not nearly as pampered as one would expect a princess to be helped facilitate her growth and it enabled her to take hold of her own destiny, eschewing the rules of the “civilized” world in which she was raised, in order to claim the future she wanted for herself.

There was so much about Edge of Power that I enjoyed, but I think the scene that had me enraptured was when Wulf shared with Kathlyn how he came to be the Raider King. Even knowing how violent raiders could be, I was stunned by the brutality of it, and it explained so much about Wulf and the bond he shared with Tyr. Also, I could not help but wonder if Eiryn was aware of the part their father played in it because she doesn’t strike me as someone who would back that kind of move. However, what absolutely shocked me was the twist I did not see coming when the raiders descended upon King Athenian’s compound. I wasn’t surprised that the cowardly king attempted to hide and that several of his men laid down their weapons in surrender, not willing to die for the tyrant. I was surprised by who betrayed him and why. My only complaint about the book is that we didn’t get to see Lorna get her comeuppance, but I’m petty that way. The ending of Edge of Power was perfect because Crane wrote it in such a way that it can serve as the series end or set the stage for another installment – I know which one I’m hoping for because I would love to return to The Edge.

Please note: My review is of an unedited, pre-release copy of this book and assumes that errors were corrected prior to publication.

Wulf's book! Yes!!! If you know me at all, you'd know that I've been looking forward to Wulf's book since Book One of this series. Wulf is just so sexy you guys. Imagine my delight when I found out that not only will Wulf get his own book, but the heroine will be Black. Yes, people, there're some PoC in this Viking dystopian world.

Did it live up to my expectations? Yes. In the previous books, Wulf didn't really do much. He showed up halfway or towards the end of the books, to issue some royal decrees and resolve some issues. In this book, the author illustrated why he's a leader and that he's not incapable of getting in on the action if he wanted to. It made me like him even more.

Warning though; if you're not into biker talk, you may not like this book. By "biker talk" I mean the superiority complex bikers in biker romances seem to have, thinking everyone who doesn't "live free and ride hard" is a "bitch" or "wuss". If those terms don't bother you, carry on.

The heroine was BADASS. And not in a physical way. She spent years living being abused by her tyrannical father, but somehow developed emotional resilience and stood her ground. After meeting Wulf, she evolves to be even more badass. I really liked her. She was an independent thinker in a world of followers, and the conversations the two had were some of the most interesting thing about this book. The fact that she was raised in an oppressive system and he led a clan that rebels against the system was an interesting aspect to the story.

There is also a resolution to the main mystery/conspiracy that was started in the first book. That resolution didn't take that much time, which I didn't mind. Things were resolved pretty quickly by the end, which was fine because this conspiracy was not the reason I started on and kept reading the books for.

I will probably come back to this book sometime in the future. I'm sad to see the series end, but I'm glad that this is how it ended.

This book was a total flop to me. Compared to the other books in the series, this one seriously lacked all of the elements that made them so addicting and readable.
-Awesome romantic and sexual tension
-A portrayal of fierceness in the raider way of life
-Strong female protagonist
-Lots of action
-A plot that moves quickly

With the opportunity to peek into the mind of the king and most mysterious raider of all, I expected to enjoy Wulf's perspective immensely. He is portrayed as such an enigma throughout the entire series. And in experiencing Kathryn a bit towards the end of book 3, I had great hopes for her too. But this novel didn't live up to any of that.

These two being holed up in the castle for about a month (and far removed from any raider lifestyle) and having extremely limited contact with each other did nothing for me. There was no antagonism, the connection that felt barely there, and Wulf's personality felt like a deflated balloon. I expected him to be the fiercest and most charismatic of all, even if it was fairly internalized, what with his kingly status.

The only other thing that bugged me was that there was so much obsessive thinking going on for each character. There would be one line of dialogue by one of these two main characters and then a full page or two of internalized thoughts, then another line of dialogue, and repeat. It bothered me in each book in the series but in the other ones, it was at least counteracted with a ton of tension and chemistry, likeable yet frustrating characters, and plenty of action and intriguing plot.

I kept my high hopes for the first half, hoping Edge of Power would pick up or improve. The last half of the book I just stuck with to finish it out.

Wulf's book not only ties together a few story arc's over the entire series, but this is perfectly read as a standalone. Travelling alone to the mainland, Wulf has a mission, but that mission is put in jeopardy when the virgin princess Kathlyn enters his room dressed as a courtesan, because she wants a choice in a life where she has none.

While in previous books we saw Wulf as a hard Alpha, this has been toned down a touch and we see another side of him in his interactions with Kat. He also realises that this woman may be his match, for all of her softness she has a core of steel, and now she has seen the light and a possible new future she has no issues fighting for it..

This is a fantastic read and as the action heats up the the end, we see new characters coming to light and possibly new stories. This was a good read and i totally recommend.

My thanks to Net Galley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

This book was a huge let down after the scorching hot third book. I loved Wulf in this book but couldn’t warm to Kathlyn at all. With the bulk of the book set in her tyrannical fathers palace, there was never enough interaction between the two main characters. The whole concept of the mounting ceremony is just gross (and it gets a LOT of air time in the book) and father’s treatment of her whilst Wulf was off on his own for much of the book, was not an entertaining read. I missed the kind of banter that all of the other leads had engaged in in the first three books, and I think that led to a real lack of chemistry between Wulf and Kathlyn. Really gutted we didn’t get a more worthy mate for Wulf, and lots of banter and chemistry in the mix.

I voluntarily read an advanced review copy of this book

This series is out of this world. I love the concept of these strong barbaric men and the strong beautiful women who love them, work together to try and give electricity to the world.

In this book Wulf steps in and gets his hands dirty in more ways than one and Kathlyn finally decides to stop hiding and step out for all of the world... especially her father...so they can see her for who and what she is.

I loved hearing Wulfs' story and seeing how he can use his strength to empower someone like Kathlyn. It was like she transformed right before our eyes. Overall this book was great can't wait for more!

Wulf finally meets his mate. And what a mate she is. His very own princess. I liked the story though at times it was repeative as far as a lot of Kathlyn's thoughts. Had to skip though a lot of that. She sure gave Wulf a run for his heart. But in the end he didn't think he was good enough for her because she had been controled all her life by a hateul and brutal Father. He wanted her to live and be able to make choices without influence so he left her and went back to his home. But Kathlyn knew what she wanted and she wanted Wulf. So, she found a way to get to him. The End.
