I'm getting into caving and wanted to be less of a noob. While you can only learn some things through experience, this provides a good overview of how to handle various types of terrain, water features, and other cave hazards. There's no substitute for caving with knowledgeable people like your local grotto, but this will help you get up to speed faster.
Really appreciated reading as a basic guide. Gave a lot of great tips/tricks in an easy to read and understand book. Now I just need a couple youtube tutorials on how to do a few of the things.
Paul's a good friend and a great caver; I can't think of very many people who would be better qualified to write this book. He's done an admirable job of presenting both a good introduction to caving as well as providing some more advanced material for folks who have been caving for some time. I could nitpick some of the presentation - but overall the book is very well crafted. (I especially enjoyed the dedication - thanks, Paul!)
