Oz and his wife Chloe, both scientists, and their son Eli were holed up in the Arctic, trying to stay safe from the feral animals attacking humans throughout the world. Until the call for Oz to join the Washington specialists working on solving the HAC – human-animal conflict – that was afflicting them all. But the problem was escalating at a violent rate – as well as feral animals, some humans were being affected as well. Was it possible to get a handle on what was happening, or was it way too late for civilization?

Zoo 2 follows on from Zoo – a bookshots novella by James Patterson. This one was even more way-out, far fetched and crazy than the first! What a ride! Intense, brutal, violent and incredible, it’s the stuff of nightmares! Recommended.

OMG.....What a first chapter!

If you read ZOO, you know there's an animal crisis going on in the world as the Human-Animal-Conflict (HAC) continues even in the Antarctic where Jackson Oz and his family are living in a secluded old weather station.

Being stalked by feral animals world-wide is bad news for sure, but the situation worsens as Oz is called back to work with a newly appointed government response team and made aware that "the sickness" has now spread to humans. (no spoiler here)

There are many action-packed moments throughout this short 160 page read, but overall.....darn it.....the story is too short...too rushed...too lacking on the follow thru of what should have been some terrifyingly disastrous encounters, and has altogether far too many lame jokes and unnecessary lusty comments about female team member Sarah.

The beginning few chapters are excellent, and the very ending.....gave me chills. 2.5 Stars with a round up to 3.

As Zoo 2 opens people are still in fear of animals. Animals are ill. They are murdering people and gaining ground. However there is a rumor that this illness has migrated to some humans. From an ice bound Arctic to an underground bunker in the US, Dr Jackson Oz is once again pushed into service to find a cure for this madness.

As I leap into the foray of James Patterson's BookShots, I thought it best to start with a story based on a full-length novel I read years ago. Zoo was quite the phenomenon when it was published, positing what the world might be like if animals turned on humans through a pheromone-triggering set of cerebral changes. In this story, Jackson Oz is living in quasi-seclusion with his family in Greenland. His wife, Chloe, and son, Eli, have been able to adapt, though they are far from pleased with the isolated living situation. When the US Department of Energy reaches out to Oz, he is intrigued by the new approach to the HAC (human-animal conflict), focussing on scientific rather than military options. Oz chooses to leave Chloe and Eli in Paris with her family while he jets around the world to various locations, gathering evidence and samples that might help reverse or minimalise the effects overtaking the world. While in South Africa, Oz and the rest of the scientific group discover a feral human, wondering if things have morphed into the human realm. Further proof emerges in other parts of the world, which is the newest concern and adds new urgency. When Chloe and Eli's time in Paris is compromised, Oz does all he can to reunite with them at a rural laboratory, while dodging feral humans at every turn. With the President of the United States demanding answers, Oz must find a way to tame the feral human issue before the entire world is overrun, leaving the 'healthy' contingent as a minute minority. An interesting follow-up to the original novel and worth the few hours of invested time to read.

I remember when I read ZOO and how I had a hard time suspending enough reality to completely enjoy the book. When I saw this BookShot, I thought I ought to give the idea another chance, knowing that I would not need to invest too much time to see what I thought. Patterson and DiLallo present an interesting concept in the continual fight between animal and humans, seeking to approach things from a scientific perspective. With much action and a high degree of drama, combined with short chapters and some plausible characters, I found myself somewhat intrigued to see how things would play out. Still in that realm of science fiction, I am able to keep a mind open enough to muddle through this piece. The BookShots idea is interesting, as Patterson lures readers with a short story to whet their appetite or bridge things between two full-length novels. I can see this lining his pockets as he continues with more co-author pieces, though their quality remains something for readers to judge over the next year or two.

Kudos, Messrs. Patterson and DiLallo for this interesting idea. I may not be hooked on the HAC idea, but the effort leaves me curious to see what else might be on offer.

This is another thrilling, on-the-edge of your seat Zoo story by James Patterson and Max DiLallo, in BookShots format! There was so much suspense and such a thrilling plot with so many twists. I couldn't put it down! This is an excellent read if you're a fan of James Patterson and Max DiLallo or not! I really enjoy the format of these books. Although they are small in page number, they are huge is thrilling suspense and just great writing!! If you haven't read this one yet, I suggest you get on Amazon and order yourself a copy right now!

Excellent book! :) I'm never disappointed with a James Patterson title.

This is my second bookshots. I don't mind them at all but still prefer a bit more to a story. I enjoyed the book Zoo and actually liked the show better (surprising I know!) so had been planning for a bit to read this bookshot. In this one humans are now going feral which was interesting to say the least. I love Patterson's work with Ledwidge so I am hoping the two of them team up to bring more installments to the Zoo book series.

My quick and simple overall: takes only about less than an hour and half to read without interruptions and I am hopeful that it is setting up for a Patterson/Ledwidge full sequel. Even though this was not coauthored by Ledwidge.

You can never find anything wrong with a James Patterson book, and this is one of. them too.
If you've read the first you would know all about the human-animal conflict (HAC) and how fast-paced that went, well this is only a short story and the next phase in the war on animals, but you will not be disappointed in this either,
the story is edge of the seat - fast paced - gripping - nerve wracking - nail biting and not to be overlooked on this summer's reading list

Jackson Oz, his wife Chloe and their son have been hiding out in the frozen tundra in Greenland trying to avoid the rabid animals that are still attacking around the planet. Jackson receives word yet again that they want his help to try to stop this epidemic so the trio leave to join the other scientists but soon find it's more than animals that are attacking now.

Zoo 2 is a relatively short follow up to James Patterson's Zoo novel. It's a really fast paced read bringing the reader back to the world that something has happened to make the animals turn on humans.

In this edition a new horror has begun for the scientists to try to figure out. Sometimes the story got a bit far-fetched in my opinion again but it was still a fun read overall. The ending in this one is a bit of a cliffhanger so I'm guessing maybe we will be seeing more of Jackson Oz in the future and I will continue to follow along and giggle at some of the over the top action and await out the intense moments until the world might be saved again.

I thought the original Zoo was pretty stupid, but it did at least have some thrilling scenes of animals attacking people, and the science behind the animal attacks was goofy but plausible enough for purposes of this sort of story. Zoo 2 is just incredibly stupid and pointless. I think the Bookshots format makes it suffer, because it means the story has to rush along, except even then the pacing is awful. There are some interesting ideas mentioned, like Chloe and her son getting kidnapped by Friends of the Earth that welcome the animal attacks, and even the basic premise of feral humans could be kinda neat. However, the feral humans don't even appear until page 50 of 146, and they're never given enough of an explanation or basis in the "science" of the animal attacks. Also, from the back cover blurb, I was expecting these to be some sort of human-animal hybrid physically, whereas they're basically just throwbacks to when life was nasty, brutish, and short. They're just zombies, except we never get an explanation of where they came from or how the infection spreads, and the "cure" is total nonsense. I was also incredibly bothered by how much of a sexist asshole Oz is here. He leaves Chloe and their kid in France, which isn't any safer than where he's going and is ridiculous because she's a scientist too. When a new scientist is introduced, she exists only for Oz to think about how sexy he is but he can't possibly do her because he's married. The plot and characters are deeply stupid, and the rushed nature of the story means that things that should be given time, like figuring out what's up with the new feral humans, is just skipped over and ignored. I expected this to be a goofy waste of time, but I'd hoped there might be something fun or exciting in here. Instead, it's just crap from start to finish. Whether you enjoyed the first Zoo or not, definitely skip this one - it's absolutely not worth wasting your time on, no matter that it'll take only two or three hours to read.

I actually liked this book more than I did the first one in this series (Zoo 1). I really think it is because it was fast paced and shorter than a regular novel. I think I'm going to really like this idea of Bookshots especially because if the books aren't that likeable they won't be long and it will make it easier to get through.

Ugh! Why did I even bother? The first book wasn't that great and this is worse. Thankfully it's very short.

Completely unbelievable idiotic and repetitive (it's literally the same scenario over and over again just in different locations) 'plot' (I use that term lightly here) furthering the misadventures of Jackson Oz a narcissistic, sexist, selfish, ego inflated, so smart he's stupid, put everyone in danger/get everyone around me killed because I want something that is clearly not a good idea jackass scientist who is trying to help the world from ending via animals (and soon to be nature) finally having their revenge on all the humans. Oh and he can literally survive anything.

The ending is a cliff hanger. You couldn't pay me to read then next book.

“Stories that move at the speed of life” …. But read at the pace of watching paint dry.
This was my first experience with one of Patterson’s Book Shots. I probably should have started with Cross Kill. Even though it was super short, it took me a week to get through. I was bored. I was bored throughout the whole book.
It isn’t because I don’t like the story. I really liked the first Zoo book. I gave it 5/5 stars.
This one took that original story and made it so unbelievable that I was lost within the first few pages. Maybe if it had been a regular length novel, there could have been more description, and the book would have been better.
But, it wasn’t, and I was not a fan. I was glad when I finished it.

This is a short book and is intriguing to read up to a point but it is not nearly long enough on detail and seems to generalize some characters when it should have more detail.

The first book Zoo was more in length and detail. Both kept my interest but the 2nd book needed more in length and detail to finish the story right.

I like James Patterson as a writer, but I hope the Zoo tv series has more detail than the 2nd book has.

I would’ve given 5 stars, It was a great thrill ride and what felt like the perfect mini sequel to the original. The ending however killed it and personally just spoiled the story for me. I thought it could’ve been a nicer ending and it felt like sort of a lazy addition for shock value, especially after the time I invested reading zoo 1 & 2.

An interesting continuation from book #1, but it kind of read like a high level plot summary, still waiting for the author to flesh it out. There was no real build up of tension, and far too many things went wrong in far too short a time. I'm usually happy to suspend my disbelief when reading fiction, but this went a step too far.
A three star read. I wouldn't recommend it.

YES!!!! YES!!!! YES!!!

I loved this one too!!! So now the same pheromone problem that was affecting the animals is affecting the humans and the only way they can tell if a human is affecting is if the feral animals run away from them.
At first I was a bit peeved that Oz would leave his wife and kid to go help the government again, I mean didn't they screw it up the first time? What makes you believe that they won't do it again???
And then to add to that I felt like Oz was a bit too concerned about Sarah when Chloe and Eli were pretty much running for their lives.
It was super cool that they figured out the signs of what turns a human feral, the sweat and blush and aggressive nature and even the the stem cells could be the cure.
But the real trigger for me, you go through all that and you guys gonna die from FUXING COCKROACHES!!!!!

Zoo 2 by James Patterson

While the first part was great (of course no world literature, but still an awesome read), the second part was very fast-paced as well, many action-scenes and not one boring second at all but still a little too much…

Many scenes don‘t make sense, the whole story is a constent chain of stress and relief… it is ok to listen or read but definitely not as good as the first part. And actually I read it, because I thought I get some kind of closure, only to be left hanging with a cliffhanger all over again… If you really liked the first part and have some hours to kill, get the second one as well… otherwise let it be.

Já esperava não gostar tanto deste livro como gostei do primeiro, no entanto, a leitura é rápida e o enredo é bastante interessante.
Continuo a não gostar da personagem do Oz, o que é extremamente irritante tendo em conta que ele é a personagem principal. Tenho pena que a Chloe mal tenha aparecido e quando aparece está sempre em perigo de morte.
Fiquei chocada ao ver que o problema se alastrou aos humanos... Da maneira como o livro acabou tenho a certeza que podemos contar com mais um livro. [E não acredito que a própria Chloe está afectada com esse problema!!!!!!!!!!]

I noticed this book while looking through the Book Shots and thought it would maybe lead me to the same place the television program was; so, I read it.

This book appears to begin where the first Zoo left off. There are some instances which lead me to belie that the book was written with the television show in mind; but, it is different enough to stand on its own.

If you are a fan of Zoo (either the book or the television show) I think you owe it to yourself to read both Zoo and Zoo 2.
