Unfiltered review here... https://wp.me/p7ZSCH-FG

I tried to like it, I wanted to like it but life had other plans. :(

I'm going to express myself in gifs, if you all don't mind.

Let me start by saying that I wasn’t going to read this book because Four Letter Words (Dirty Deeds #1) sucked balls, but I thought I would give it a go. There were some decent reviews out there for this one, so I hoped J. Daniels would redeem herself in my eyes. Well that didn’t happen.

We were introduced to Jamie and Tori in book one and I fell in love with both of them. I was like, “Yassss, bitch, yassss!” I just knew J. Daniels was going to slay… Ha! The joke was on me because their characters in this book were nothing like they were in book one.

Jamie was still cocky and sexy but he also had a lot of asshole moments. Let’s talk about one…
“Not sure what that has to do with us,” he said, keeping the arrogance, keeping the smirk, and keeping a me like what I’d just shared meant nothing. He shrugged, then continued. “Affects him more than anything. Handle it now or wait, whatever. Just know, once we get started, you need to drop him, babe. I don’t share.” – Jamie

Now this was kind of sexy! The way he mixed cocky and sexy together was EVERYTHING right here.

But then his asshole ways made an appearance. Example – Tori backs out of her parking spot and wasn’t paying attention and accidentally hits him with her car. Just a little tap…
“You crazy-ass bitch. Do not fuckin’ come any closer.”

I flinched, halting my steps. “What? Did you just call me a bitch?”

“Yeah, bitch, I did. You heard me.”

************************************************

“You’re mad I shot you down and bruised your precious ego and now you’r planning on making up lies about me.”

“Bruised my ego? Bitch, I think you did more than that when you ran my ass over.”

He called her a bitch way too many times in my opinion. We would have had a problem if he was talking to me like that. You can play around and call me a bitch all day, everyday. What you won’t do is call me a bitch is a spiteful way, then we have a problem.

Jamie got over it too, finally, when he decided they would make a bet to see who would be begging for sex first. Okay, this was kind of cute, I was feeling it. Part of his plan to get her to beg for him was to be in her face all the time. He took it upon himself to pop up at her house whenever he damn well pleased. That was still kind of cute but he had to add another asshole moment. Example – When he need to pick up his sister from a bar and decided he was going to take her car…
“Babe, get the fuck over it,” I ordered, watching her eyes flicker wider.

I put my atention back on the road. “If we’re goin’ someplace together, I’m drivin’. Don’t matter whose car it is. We got someplace to go? I’ll get us there. So quit with the attitude and just enjoy my fuckin’ company. It ain’t like I took your ride and left you back at the house. Straight up, though, kinda wishing I would’ve just done that.”

Let us have a moment of silence so I can gather my thoughts and calm the hell down so I don’t hurt this man.

Did he say he “ordered” her?… He did… Okay… Hell to the NO!

Did this bastard really just say that? Get the fuck out of here!

You’re going to take my car whether I like it or not, and now you wish you would have left me at home.

Y'all have better come get this man before I start cutting off body parts, starting with Mr. Happy.

Last example of Jamie's "so called" sweetness...

She tells him, "This feels like forever," and he doesn't respond so she gets all pissy about it. So when they finally talk about it here's what he says...
“Tense all night. Worryin’ I wasn’t feelin’ you. That wasn’t the case.” Jamie began to explain. “Just came in a woman for the first time. That woman being’ you. I was processin’ shit.”

WTF! I’m done! I’m going to let you work through that one on your own.

Don’t get me wrong, Jamie has some sweet moments and does several sweet things for her but the way he spoke to her was ridiculous. What’s worse is Tori just took it.

I don’t understand why she would allow that. I don’t understand why J. Daniels is trying to pass off his behavior as cute and sexy. It wasn’t cute. It wasn’t sexy. It was controlling and demeaning.

I like being put in my place just as much as the next women, sometimes that shit is sexy. But Jamie, hell no, he took that shit too far.

I think this is a good place to end my review - in gifs :-)

My overall feelings at the end of this one...

➳A jerk, with a dirty mouth, a romantic side, with also a possessive alpha male attitude that swoons me and will most likely swoon...

➳J. Daniels brings back the story of Tori that we did not know from her perspective from Four Letter Word in which she provides an insight to Tori's background with Wes, the cheating ex-boyfriend. If you have not read Four Letter Word then you MUST read it... I mean, it's not necessary to read it before this story but it gives you an insight to the story of Tori and Jamie.

➳Jamie, the arrogant guy who cannot take no for an answer. He keeps trying to get Tori aka "Legs" in his arms, but mostly his bed. Tori on the other hand is a "no-no" but her body is a "yes-please!" But Jamie never gets turned down, and he will not get turned down from a girl that he has been chasing for over six months- even when Tori was dating Wes her ex-cheating-boyfriend;

"I want something? I get it, and I don't fucking lose. Ever. No shit."

➳Jamie's background of being a complete player is not something that appeals to Tori's interest, especially when they start to get open with each other about personal information. At first, it's all about the sex and how amazing it is for each other, and the fact that Tori wants to forget Wes and the way he made her feel. Jamie is there to help her forget all about him and the things he did to her body, but he is also there to prove to Tori that Jamie can be the person and the lover she wants him to be.

➳To my appealing tastes, I do not have an issue with dirty talkers. But I feel like there needs ro be a certain level in which dirty talking is accepted. Don't get me wrong, a little saucy talk during the shack-hitting isn't a bad combination to melt some panties ;) but in Jamie's case, sometimes I would consider him being crude to Tori. In Tori's perspective she did mention that once, but to her extent that's what makes Jamie appealing to her. Not only that but the way he changes for the better good of their relationship.

➳Overall, J. Daniels did an incredible job with this story! It definitely showed the expectations that I was hoping to get and hopefully it will to all her future readers, because her writing is one of a kind and absolutely incredible!

After meeting Jamie and Tori in Four Letter Word, I was crazy excited to get their story. Jamie and Tori are the best friends of the H/h in that book and you can just tell they belong together. They have this crazy love/hate relationship. Jamie actively pursues her for most of the book, and Tori continually shuts him down due to his reputation and player ways. The beginning of Hit the Spot starts with a bet….

Who can resist who? We all know that Jamie wants Tori in a bad way, but Tori also wants Jamie. She can tell him she doesn’t all day long, but she can’t lie to herself.
I wouldn’t be that girl. I wouldn’t want him. Only…I totally wanted him. A little, if I was lying. A lot, if I was being honest.

What I loved about this one- how much Jamie loved Tori. He wanted her fiercely and never gave up on that. Even when she became difficult (and she did) he still kept on. That kind of devotion is something you don’t read about every day.

“Nine months was nothin’, babe. I would’ve waited years for you.”

This story was actually way more romantic that I thought it would be. Jamie really did have that sweet spot that he only gave to Tori. Once they (finally) got their stuff together, I adored them as a couple. I loved the scenes with Jamie’s sister, Quinn, too. There was a lot I adored about this book. It could have easily been a 5 for me. But holy moly. If I heard the word ‘babe’ or ‘ain’t’ one more time I would have screamed. Jamie was an OTT alpha with his talk, which didn’t fit in his surfer persona IMO. I didn’t feel like he needed that OTT alpha flare and it didn’t 100% work for me. He felt a lot like a KA alpha (just the way he talked etc) and I didn’t feel connected to that part of his character. But that could just be a ‘me thing’. I know a lot of people love the alpha talk.

Hit the Spot was definitely a win for me overall. I enjoyed Tori and Jamie’s banter, I loved seeing all the characters from book 1 I liked so much. If you’re looking for a super steamy read, with a lot of sweet, some humor, a fun heroine and alpha hero this is the book for you!

➦After DNFing the first book in the series I though, "Hey, may be it was a fluke" and gave this one a go. And I came to a conclusion that may be this author's writing just isn't my cuppa. And that's fine.

➦While this book was better than the first for me, with a faster pace and less unnecessary details, I failed to connect with the story and ended up DNFing at 80%.

➦If you like enemies to lovers storylines this one might be for you. There also is a fun bet going on between two main characters about who's gonna give in and beg the other one for sex first.

➦I didn't like the hero, perhaps because he comes off as a bit of an airhead. The way he talked felt weird to me, I'm not sure why but it felt very fabricated to me. Again, TO ME. You might like it. I also felt like there was a lot of fabricated drama in the book which I've seen coming. Saw the "set up" happening since the beginning of the book.

➦What did me in was the amount of times these two said or didn't say "I love you" to each other. I'm just really past the point of adults playing the "should I say it or not say it" game in books.

Tori is through with having men work their way into her heart only to turn around and break it. So when Jamie starts making it perfectly clear that he wants her, she does her best to avoid him. So when she and Jamie make a bet that one of them will be begging the other for a night in bed she's positive she'll win. Because she doesn't want Jamie at all. Right?

I was super interested in Jamie and Tori when we first met them in Four Letter Word and I just knew that they would have a chemistry like no other. And I was right! The connection they shared practically flew right off the pages and made this book extra sexy. I loved how determined Jamie was to get Tori and how caring he was when he started to get to know her.

Tori actually surprised me and I ended up liking her a ton more than I thought I would. Her teasing Jamie was fun to see and I liked that she didn't always just run away from him. Even when she was denying the attraction that they had she was sassy in the best way possible and it made her character just overall fun and enjoyable to read about.

The book also gives a bit of drama that grabs your attention but not an over abundant amount that gets annoying. The bottom line is that this is a fun and sexy book that I think every romance lover should read. It can be read as a standalone but I still recommend reading Four Letter Word since it's a great book.

4 Allowing Yourself to Have It All Stars
* * * * Spoiler Free
Tonight we are thrilled to present what you all have been waiting for... The Long Awaited Event of the Dirty Deeds circuit...The Love Match of Tori Rivera and Jamie McCade. You've heard of The Hunger Games...well, this promises to take that to a different emotional level...We introduce for the first time a complete unedited following of all the inner thoughts, desires and resolutions with our participants...Ground Breaking...So get ready for the experience to feel, argue, lust and swoon...

The Fight Game is about to begin...

Disclaimer:
All participants have shown interest in the other. There has been a past history between them which has laid the groundwork for the interaction. Although at times it may seem one or both participants are saying they have no interest in the other/pushing back from any confrontations, both have indicated they are interested and all is done with agreement, no matter how confusing it may seem at the time.

In the Red Trunks, Tori "Legs" Rivera:
Twenty Four year old Tori is coming off a past romantic season where the ex did not fight fairly. He was a married man who hid this while Tori was falling hard for him. He played her, toyed with her and she found out in the most distressing way, while at the mall. There he was with his wife and baby girl. When confronted, he pulled the inside punch of introducing Tori as a High School Friend.

Tori has regrouped and gone into training with the main focus of Never Being Played Again. She has the education, support system of her best gal, Syd and her man Brian, and the financial freedom to work at Whitecaps, a hip ocean front restaurant. She works there because it makes her happy.

It goes without saying Tori has everything any man would want...She has a body which is real, womanly and the confidence in the way she moves. Sweet face whether made up or not...and Sass for days. She is comfortable in her own skin and has no trouble turning offers down.

Her past experience with tonight's participant Jamie McCade has been up and down.

In the Blue Trunks, Jamie "The Player" McCade:
Twenty Eight year old Jamie is The Man on the Beach. He is an award winning Surfer who has had a rep of taking whatever he wanted with out any problems...He clearly has had any assortment of women, Experienced and Newly Fresh...all comers were welcomed. He used the disclaimer of no leading on... hook ups were what they were, etc. His brash, direct, often crass and lewd (Dirty Talking) way of communicating his wants was all his own. (Think Kristen Ashley Man Dialect but unique to Surfer with Sexual Overtones as Nouns and Verbs and Major Alpha Insistence )

Jamie has a solid family, brother and sister and cares deeply for them. His best bud is Brian and they own Wax, their surf shop. Jamie is at the top of the surf game and is sponsored by well known companies. He has had a pretty carefree life and only recently has been interested in participating in this event.

His past experience with Tori Riviera has been up and down... with him pursuing this Event with all of the patience and skill of a Heavy Weight. He has made some tactical errors in the ramp up.

In his first encounter with Tori, he disregarded the fact she out right told him she had a boyfriend when he approached...causing a blatant show of no respect for relationships or Tori. This has remained a sticking point for his opponent and one not easily forgiven.
He has made points, though, by standing with and backing Tori in her taken down of Ex. This has led to a type of truce between them.

Strengths:
For Tori-she will not allow herself to be another notch on his hookup belt... and it is a long and varied one.
She has the strength to talk to herself and fight the feeling for this opponent as he has heartache written all over him.

For Jamie-he wins: he wins in all the Surf Competitions, he wins in pursuit of anything he wants...and he wants the woman he has named as Legs...Biggest asset (besides being a walking dream with all the perfect parts, ah hm...) Jamie is patient... will dig in for what he wants... will play the waiting game and has for the last 9 months.

Weaknesses:
Both have seen the sweet soft spots in each other... the places they keep hidden away. This knowledge can cause moments of clarity for Jamie but for Tori, it confuses what she feels making her vulnerable.

Rules of the Event:
There really are none...Both of these participants have been playing cat and mouse for 9 months. They spare, tease, pursue (Jamie) and give sass, deny interest (Tori/Legs). The ramp up has been happening with numerous encounters, some friendly with Syd and Brian at the family dinners every Sunday.... some while helping their friends move in together... other times at WhiteCaps. Every time Jamie is the pursuer and Tori the object of his desire.

The Main Event:
This will be a Fight Game to the finish... These two are equally matched due to the extreme want of both of them...There will be unlimited Smexy times, Miscommunication, Seriously Swoon Worthy Moments too numerous to count and all of it brought to you by J. Daniels and the pacing of her writing.

Be prepared to be Shocked...
Be prepared to Fall Hard...
Be Prepared to want both parties to have their HEA...
And be prepared to be in the game as much as the players....

The event starts December 6th 2016 so make sure you have your tickets...
It is one hell of a Fight Game part of the Dirty Deeds Circuit...
This has been brought to you by an unsolicited observer who enjoyed the chance to view it early
This book can be read as a stand-alone.

*****5 HIT MY SOFT SPOT STARS*****

"Love was an adventure. It should be spontaneous and irresponsible and a little crazy. Not planned for. Not overthought. I had no idea when I was going to say those words to Jamie, and I liked not knowing. I wanted impulsive I love you’s and reckless desires. I wanted this how it always was between us—uncontrollable. Overwhelming. And never, ever contained."

J Daniels has outdone herself with this one!! Wow!! I freakin LOVED this story! I loved the writing style, the characters, plot line, EVERYTHING!!! It was fresh, it was exciting, it was riveting!!!

After reading Four Letter Word (Book 1) I was sooooo excited to read Hit The Spot! In Four Letter Word we are introduced to Tori (Legs) and Jamie (Loser) and I instantly fell in love with them and their personalities! Usually when that happens I get high hopes for the next book and my expectations are too high. Well, let me tell you, J Daniels did NOT DISAPPOINT! If anything, she exceeded my expectations and I could not put this book down! Hit the Spot also quickly moved its way to one of my top favorites of 2016!

"You’re going for her soft.” “I’m goin’ for her what?” I asked, brow furrowing as I lowered my hand to cool granite. “Her soft. You want to hit it again.” “What the fuck is her soft?” “Her heart, Jamie.”

It's been a while since I have read a book where I was 100% in love with the Heroine, 100% in love with the Hero and 100% in love with their relationship! Oooookkk, so basically I'm 100% in LOVE with this book! Tori is fiesty, fierce, outgoing, cute and lovable! Jamie is a cocky, arrogant, dirty talking, straight up, player! They are both stubborn and strong minded! Their chemistry is off the charts and I absolutely adored watching their relationship grow throughout the book! The plot lines were on point and the story flowed drawing my attention until the end!!

"I wanted everything. Her body, her mind, her sanity. Having her break into my house or coming to my fucking work. I wanted her ruined. I wanted Tori Rivera as fucked up and crazy about me as I was about her."

In the first 10% of the book there is a scene that legit had me LAUGHING so hard!! I COULD NOT STOP! OMG! That SCENE! I haven't read that in a book before! Trust me, download the sample and see for yourself and you will 1-Click this book in a heartbeat! And the rest of the book is just as awesome as the sample!! One of my FAVORITES OF 2016! I hope Nate and Cole get their own stories next! My friends, trust me! You will fall in LOVE with Legs and Loser! ❤️❤️❤️

“You’re way past likin’ me,” I murmured. “I hit your soft and I’m fuckin’ stayin’ there.”

"Her. Us. I was never letting go either. She held me close, limbs circling my back as our chests matched with racing breaths. Her fingers in my hair. Her lips moving over my ear. “This feels like forever,” she whispered. I closed my eyes, thinking the same."

:::4 "I want to be Jaime's Legs" Stars!:::

description

Okay I'll admit...I can be a bit dramatic at times. It's the hidden actress within me lol. So when I saw this pop up on my kindle my eyes got wide like saucers and I could've sworn I heard music go "dun dun dun duuuuun" Needless to say, this girl was worried. Will I like it?! I didn't love Four Letter Word, but I did like Jaime's character from book 1. So I didn't go into this one with high expectations, but after talking myself into it, cause the book won't read itself, I decided to give it a try...

AND

*Drumroll please.....

I

FREAKING

LOOOOOVED

THIS

BOOK!

This is my second J. Daniel's and now I can see why so many love this author, she reminds me a lot of Kristen Ashley and if you like KA you'll like this book. Jaime was such a dominating, badass alpha male. I was not expecting this from a "surfer" boy, but there was more to this character than I thought. How many ways can I describe Jaime and my love for him? He made me feel! I love when characters are able to do that and he gave me so many laughs I couldn't deal at times:

"Figures I fall for psycho pussy."

Here's the rundown: Jaime is obsessed with Tori...he's been chasing her for months. Tori thinks Jaime is an ass (which he kinda is). Jaime is getting tired of this chase, Tori secretly likes the chase but she would rather watch a plant grow than to admit it. They fight, they struggle, they come together, they fight some more, they deny some more and eventually they both see that the other is their everything.

I'm not usually one that enjoys the "chase" storyline, they tend to be so overly cliché and way to OTT at times, but this one was so entertaining and so well written I couldn't help but love it. Somehow it worked for me. I fell in love with these characters. I felt something deep for them, especially the hero. These characters were so real and lovable.

And the sex! Dear Gawd!!!!!! Those scenes were panty soaking hot. Jaime's foul mouth almost threw me over the edge.

Hit the Spot is a must read! And even though it's book two it can still be read as a standalone. I definitely recommend this:)

::: FULL REVIEW NOW POSTED :::

"Came to me last night, upset, crying, wanting someone to make that shit better for you. Needin' someone." I looked into her eyes. "You got people you smile at, babe. People you take in and let live with you. And you came to my door. You gave me that." I breathed a laugh and cupped her cheek. "Still don't think you know what that meant to me."

If you're a fan of bossy, dirty-talking, over-the-top Alphas who relentlessly pursue the women they want, are guaranteed to infuriate and piss you off many times with what they say and do and make you curse their name, but ultimately will melt your heart, then you're probably going to love Jamie! And if you're a fan of sexy, angsty enemies-to-lovers romance with that wavering 'will they or won't they' tension, then this might just be the book for you!

While you can read this book as a complete standalone if you want, we do first met the characters of Jamie and Tori in Four Letter Word by J. Daniels (my review) which I LOOOOOOVED! In that book, they were side characters, and in this book, they're the main focus. I'd recommend reading the books in order. But it's up to you!

With Jamie being the ultimate manwhore -- who was not only hot and wanted, and shamelessly aware of his assets -- he wasn't used to women turning him down. Ever. So when his usual pick up strategies didn't work on Tori, he decided to take things to the next level by proposing a bet.

Tori had no reason to trust him. Not only had she heard of his playboy reputation, she's seen it flaunted in front of her in public and private and she wasn't about to give her heart or body over to someone who wouldn't take care of it. But he was determined to show her he was serious about her -- and that he cared on a whole other level for her. So this is their story.

Within the first few pages of the book, I was already chuckling to myself over how brazenly bold Jamie's banter was. OMG. This guy had no filter! He was literally a shameless flirt. His manwhore title was well earned and when he straight up declared his plan to claim her as his own, while some women might have found that a turn on, it couldn't have turned her off more. All it showed her was that he had no respect for love -- at least not that she could see -- and that was a deal breaker.

I mean, truth be told, I was on her side. I'm more the kind of gal to swoon over all-out commitment rather than playboys so I was kinda hoping someone would take this guy's ego down a notch or two -- some of the things he said and did were downright infuriating!!! -- and I was really hoping it would be Tori. BUT I had to give Jamie props for his relentless pursuit of her. It was kind of adorable -- and sometimes even hot!

I'm going to be a hundred per cent honest with you here though. Jamie is not the kind of hero I really like and even in the end, I never fully "fell" for him. I really did enjoy this book, but there's a fine line between bossy Alpha and asshole Alpha and he strayed into asshole territory too many times for me. I also wish Tori hadn't given into him as much. I wanted her to call him on his shit more than she did (even though she did do it a fair bit) but I just felt at times like he just wasn't worthy of her. Ultimately though, it was very clear that in his own way, he really loved her so while I didn't really fall for him as I usually do with heroes in the books I love, I respected the fact that she fell for him and so I was rooting for them because what each of them ultimately wanted was each other if that makes sense.

I blinked. "Legs? Did you just call me Legs?"
... Half of his mouth lifted, revealing one killer dimple.
"Fuck yeah, I did," he answered... "Seen a lot of good ones. Had a lot of good ones wrapped around me, but yours? Babe, seriously." He looked to me again. "Yours take the fucking cake. I'd give my left nut for a feel."
I stared at him. I was never a woman of few words [yet] here I was, stripped of my vocabulary for the first time in my twenty-four years of life, all because a man wanted to chop off his left testicle to cop a feel.
Unbelievable.
He laughed, low and rumbly in his throat, and hearing that, I broke out of my speechless haze.
"Do you offer up appendages to all the women you meet?"

I'm a really big fan of this author's writing in this series -- it flows well, it's got great banter, a good balance of humor, angst, feels, and character development. Not to mention that the entire surrounding cast of characters is one I'm eager to read more about. I'm really hoping Stitch gets his story told soon! He's the next hero I'm most interested in within this series and I will definitely be looking forward to the next book -- no matter who it's about!

Ultimately if you've been looking for new Alpha male romance books, then this series is definitely a great one to check out. You can read either one alone, but I personally would recommend reading them in their release order -- so Four Letter Word and then Hit The Spot. The writing is strong, the romance is hot, and they have great endings!

Rating: 4 stars. Contemporary Adult Romance. Can standalone.

HOT HOT HOT!!

J. Daniels brings the panty melting heat in her "Dirty Deeds" series. HIT THE SPOT was at a level 100 in the steam category. I had trouble with it at first because I couldn't wrap my head around a professional surfer talking like an alpha hero straight out of one of Kristen Ashley's books. But once Tori stopped fighting her attraction to Jamie, the story started to click for me.

BAD FOR YOU is still my favorite but this one was pretty entertaining.

Here are my overall ratings:

Hero: 4
Heroine: 4
Plot: 4
Angst: 4
Steam: 5
Chemistry Between Hero & Heroine: 5

Title: Hit the Spot
Series: Dirty Deeds #2
Author: J. Daniels
Release date: December 6, 2016
Cliffhanger: No
HEA

I feel like I've been waiting forever for Jamie's book, though in actuality, two months should have been a breeze. The anticipation was soaring after being introduced to him in Four Letter Word. I've said this in past reviews for this author and I'll say it again. I'm not typically a big fan of asshole heroes, but as long as they're redeemed in the end I can get along with them. We get a crystal clear picture of him in book one. Jamie is cocky as hell, confident, and nothing if not persistent. But would he be able to prove to Tori (and me) that he was much more than his manwhore reputation?

He was cocky. He was unashamed. He was over-the-top pigheaded and spoke like a Neanderthal wielding a club. And he was beautiful. It sucked. Seriously.

Tori has been badly burned by a man, so badly, that she's not looking for one to complicate things at this point in her life. And certainly not a man who is known for his lack of respect towards relationships. Since the day they met, and he hit on her even after knowing she wasn't single, she lost all respect for him. And the battle of wills had begun. What was great with this couple was that Jamie makes it pretty crystal clear early on that he's in it for the long haul with her. She may be a conquest, but once he captures her, he doesn't plan on disappearing any time soon. The trouble is making her believe in that.

After months of relentless pursuit and daily "loser specials" served by her at the restaurant where she works, she still isn't wavering. Attracted? Yes. Who wouldn't be? He's a hot, successful, professional surfer. He's a great friend, and he's wicked charming. But she's not stupid enough to get burned twice. Tori had a great head on her shoulders. She matched him in stubbornness and in sheer competitiveness. This is why, when he throws his challenge out on the table it could have been anyone's game. She just doesn't realize that he's willing to play dirty (lordy does he play dirty), and he's playing for keeps.

Jamie took what he wanted. He didn’t say please, he said now. And worse, he knew whatever he was asking for you wanted just as bad as he did.

The build up between these two was absolutely scorching hot, and I knew from page one that the end result could be nothing but explosive. And boy, was I right. Daniels always knows how to crank up the heat, but I can honestly say that this is one of her hottest couples I've read to date.

That being said, as much as I loved many aspects of the story, I can't say this was a five star read for me. Jamie's crazy accusations toward her in the beginning of the book led to their highly entertaining bet. But I must admit, that I wasn't too thrilled with his attitude toward her over the car incident. Not only that, but his hatred toward her was dropped inexplicably in the blink of an eye which confused me. Then there was the timeline of their feelings. They went from 9 months of disgust, to three weeks of being together, to I want to move in with you and have your babies.

However, I can't complain all too much. This was still a solid read despite my issues and I will be reading every book in this series -it's already a done deal.

“I’d do crazy shit for this,” I told her, staring deep into her eyes as my fingers curled around her neck. “I’d burn the whole fuckin’ world down for you, you know that?”

description

“Legs? Did you just call me Legs?”

I really enjoyed this hot, easy-going romance. I do have a soft spot for over the top arrogant alphas, with a dirty mouth, who know exactly want they want and are cocky enough to know they will get exactly what they want. If you are a fan of the arrogant, cocky, smart mouthed alpha heroes, then this is definitely a book for you.

One of the things I absolutely loved about this story was how determined Jamie was to get Tori. He was so passionate and intense about his feelings for her, it literally made my heart beat a million miles an hour.

“You want to bet me that I’ll want to have sex with you before you try and have sex with me?”

This story all starts with a bet. Jamie promises that soon Tori will be begging him to take her to bed. Tori promises she won’t, but how long can she keep lying to both Jamie and herself? Tori thinks Jamie is the most arrogant, cocky, presumptuous man-whore on the planet, but also the sexiest man she’s ever seen.

Jamie’s pursuit of Tori was full of confidence and was at times, kind of adorable. He was relentless and never gave up. He knew from their first encounter that he wanted her, he wanted her bad. Tori on the other-hand, was hesitant to put herself out there. She knew full well of Jamie’s reputation as a player and didn’t feel she could trust him with her heart for good reason.

“Nine months was nothin’, babe. I would have waited years for you.”

I loved getting to know these two characters and following the development of their relationship. It was intense and chock-full of chemistry. I must be honest though and state that Jamie’s ego at times did annoy me; I found myself wishing he’d be taken down a peg or two. Overall I did really enjoy this story, the way the characters developed, the witty banter between them and ultimately their great love story. I would definitely recommend this story to anyone who loves a fun, hot as hell story with a surfing, sexy, intriguing alpha hero and a fun and lovable heroine.

Review @ Vanilla & Spice Books

Whew! What a roller coaster!

I'm trying to be really vague since I think this has to be experienced. I will however point out what I liked and what didn't work for me.

When I finished Four Letter Word I was really looking forward to seeing how that love-hate relationship between pro-surfer Jamie and the beautiful, confident waitress Tori would play out.

Jamie McCade. Gorgeous dickhead. Local asshole. Biggest player on the planet.

Jamie has been pursuing Tori for months. He puts up with her being confrontational, often times downright hostile. She is a challenge he just can't resist and being the guy who always gets what he wants he plans on wearing her down. Jamie knows, behind all that bluster Tori is just as attracted to him.

Tori is still reeling from the breakup from her ex-boyfriend who "forgot" to mention that he is married. The idea of hooking up with Jamie she doesn't even remotely consider. That way lies hurt and she knows it. Or does she?

My stomach clenched. And my heart, Lord, my heart was going crazy. Jumping up and down and pointing with frantic fingers, yelling, There he is! Go get him! Go!

It takes a while for Tori to come around but when both of them finally get it together you actually get an idea how deep Jamie's feelings run. He takes care of Tori in a quiet but often overbearing way. I know this doesn't make much sense but read the book and you'll understand! We get a really good look at the sweetness that lies behind Jamie's cockiness and that is devastating. When he shows his soft side you want to gobble him up. Also, he has the filthiest mouth under the sun. HOLY MOLY was he hot.

“Nine months was nothin’, babe. I would’ve waited years for you.”

Tori isn't easy to love, at least not from Jamie's point of view. As a reader you learn why she is the way she is with him so I loved her most of the time. At some point I have had enough of her lying to Jamie about her feelings although I kind of got that it was their "game" - still, I could have done with a little less game and a little more truth about how she felt about him.

“I told you, I just wanted to get a snack.”
“Bullshit,” he shot back, voice growing louder. “Somethin’s got you tense and I wanna know what it is.”
“I’m not tense,” I argued.
“You’re tense, babe.”
“No.” I tipped forward a little. “I’m not. I was just hungry.”
“Tori.”
“I’m not tense!”

Two things I need to mention because those were what made me deduct a star. Jamie's "alphaness" is really too much at times. I love a guy who is in charge like the next girl but the I imagined him a lot more easy-going from the way he was like in Four Letter Word.
Which brings me to the next point - right in the beginning something happens that makes him really mad at Tori and he throws around derogatory (some might even qualify it as abusive) language and never apologizes for it. If a guy, no matter how gorgeous, called me what he called Tori and didn't apologize...the fact that he didn't really nagged at me for the first half of the book. Eventually, I let it go - still, that was for me unresolved.

As I mentioned previously in my mini-review about Four Letter Word J. Daniels has that Kristen Ashley-esque vibe about her writing but she owns that style without duplicating KA which I appreciate. I think it all has to do with these alpha dudes and the multi-layered heroines. I loved watching Tori and Jamie fall in love, feeling how special it was what they had. I can't wait to see who the next book will be about. I'd love to see a story about Nate and Stitch and Shay! Until then, I'll be waiting impatiently to get my hands on the next one in this series.

Don’t give a fuck what I’d end up losing as long as that ain’t you.”

Bullseye! J. Daniel definitely hits the spot as she has readers like myself swooning, giggling, and smiling big. Ever since I was introduced to Jamie and Tori in Four Letter Word, I couldn’t wait to get my greedy book hands on their story. And let me just say J. Daniels didn’t disappoint.

photo 5ca0e0a881c9f8a96e2806aa44d171_zpsbqpj0fyi.gif “I want something? I get it, and I don’t fuckin’ lose. Ever. No shit . I’m not just blowin’ smoke up my own ass, babe . When I say I don’t fuckin’ lose, I mean, I do not fuckin’ lose. That applies to a lot of shit, Legs, and it sure as fuck applies to you. I won’t back down, boyfriend or not. You gotta know that.”

Hit The Spot was a fresh breath of air. It was romance that had fun written all over it from the banter, sexual tension, lust, passion, love, and vivacious characters. If you didn’t read Four Letter Word, it is okay because this book can be read as a standalone.

#HitTheSpot

Tori Rivera thought she found Mr. Right that is until she discovers that he is married and has a kid. Yeah, so you can’t blame the girl for keeping her heart guarded. And so when Jamie McCade, a well known professional surfer and playboy at heart starts flirting with her, she tries to ignore him since he has player and heart-breaker written all over him.

photo 5ca0e0a881c9f8a96e2806aa44d171_zpsbqpj0fyi.gif “Jamie McCade was unstoppable. And the parts of me that didn’t mind looking at something so beautiful hated him for it. Yes, unfortunately on top of being the most irritating man in the history of irritating men, Jamie was beautiful. He was cocky. He was unashamed. He was over-the-top pigheaded and spoke like a Neanderthal wielding a club. And he was beautiful. It sucked. Seriously.”

#HitTheSpot1

Ignoring Jamie proves harder when the man pursues her for nine months straight. Yes, for nine months Jamie proves his presence is hard to resist especially when he is best friends with Brian, who happens to be dating Tori’s best friend, Syd. So what happens when all the flirtatious banter and teasing soon leads to a kiss? A kiss that rocks both of their world off it’s axis? Will Tori decide that getting involved with Jamie will only lead to heartbreak? Or will Jamie decide that this game of cat and mouse is something that he wants to play...and what he wants is Tori “Legs” Rivera.

photo 5ca0e0a881c9f8a96e2806aa44d171_zpsbqpj0fyi.gif “That was when the kiss became a kiss. The kind that should be done behind closed doors. The kind that made your toes curl and your pulse race. The kind you told your girlfriends about and commemorated with a diary entry. Jamie tasted good. Too good. And he kissed even better. I couldn’t deny it.”

The chemistry between Tori and Jamie is indescribable. It was fiery hot as these two were both playing with fire as they began their game of who would cave in first. It was only a matter of time till Tori couldn’t deny her attraction and feelings for Jamie. And as for Jamie, his feelings for her never wavered and in my personal opinion scored major points for this hot blonde surfer with dimples.

photo 5ca0e0a881c9f8a96e2806aa44d171_zpsbqpj0fyi.gif “That was the truth. I wasn’t lying. I wasn’t just saying shit ’cause my dick was in her either. I loved her. She knew that. But this was bigger. It felt bigger.”

#HitTheSpot2

photo 5ca0e0a881c9f8a96e2806aa44d171_zpsbqpj0fyi.gif “It’s you, babe. Never had nothin’ like this. Never had nothin’ even close. And never will again. I know that.”

Hit The Spot was a splash of fun, laughter, banter, steam and a bit of drama thrown into the mix. J. Daniels treated her readers to a sassy independent heroine and a dirty talking hero so if you are like me, she will have you loving the sexual chemistry brewing between Jamie and Tori. With her playful prose, vivacious characters and fun story line, J. Daniels will have your riding the waves of a love story that makes a big splash!

4,5 stars. After the first book, I couldn't wait for Jamie and Tori story and I wasn’t disappointed. Their banter is hilarious. It is sexy, funny but also can be emotional. You can count on rollercoaster! And to finish this book adoring their heroes.

“Jamie McCade. Gorgeous dickhead. Local asshole. Biggest player on the planet. And the man who would not catch a hint and leave me the hell alone.”

About the plot: That's what Tori Rivera thinks about Jamie McCade, and she really isn't wrong. Jamie is a sexy, cocky jerk and he really wants Tori. But she's been shooting him down for months. They push and pushing back to one great kiss and accidental run over, that resulted in one crazy bet.

Jamie even more started to go after her and forces Tori to spend time with him. They have a great time together. And although it seems that they are perfect for each other, Tori is afraid to risk her heart again. She doesn't trust him and Jamie will need to raise the stakes to get what he wants.

“Wanting this girl was the biggest fucking headache of my life. If it weren’t for the glimpses I’d gotten of that soft she was hiding underneath, I wouldn’t think it was worth it.”

My thoughts: Hate to love relationships are usually a ride. And with Jamie and Tori is no different. They give you a lot of entertainment before being together, but even more when they are already duo. It's definitely my favorite thing - because together they are simply wonderfull! It warms my heart, they are so sweet and funny and sexy. Though Jamie McCade can steal your heart alone with his alpha ways. I absolutely love them as a couple.

“Tori fought with her words. Not her body. I quit asking and just kissed her. And kissed her. And kissed her. I kissed her until seconds blurred into minutes. I kissed her hard and rowdy and rough.”

It has been said the story has really sensational heroes. But also those of the second plan have their own good participation. You'll get a few shots of the Trouble and Wild, from the first book, but you can read the story safely independently. However, it is worth to know all the characters, because I already know that I can not wait for the next story of them. Will it be Kali and Cole? Please, do!

“Love was an adventure. It should be spontaneous and irresponsible and a little crazy. Not planned for. Not overthought.”

Hit the Spot is really sweet, well written story that despite several changes of actions is not full of tension. You will find some emotional and touching moments, but I would love more of dynamic action. Twist that occurred was in my opinion a little too late.

Even though I really can not not love Jamie and Tori. It is impossible. They have so many great steamy moments, and those extremely sweet. And they are one of my favorite book couples ever.

From the moment I met Jamie and Tori I was excited for this story. If you read Four Letter Word you could feel the chemistry these two had despite their love/hate relationship. I couldn’t wait to see what developed between them and see how their story unfolded.

For those who don’t know their story here is some background info. Tori is a waitress at a restaurant Jamie frequents. Jamie is professional surfer and super cocky. Of course Jamie comes on super strong when he first meets Tori, she is dating someone and immediately appalled by his behavior. This begins our love/hate relationship because Jamie is relentless. Now we don’t see a lot of this, the story is told in the present and you can see how things are currently between them.

After months of refusal, Jamie and Tori finally give in and hookup, but things are not so easy from here. Tori is convinced Jamie is a player and isn’t looking for more and Jamie has his work cut out for him. I really liked the chemistry and the banter between these two, but once they were together I needed more. Their relationship was super physical, which of course is hot, but I just desired to see their connection more. I wanted to feel their love for each other when reading.

Also, I was very taken back by Jamie’s vocabulary, he didn’t feel like a surfer to me. However, I can overcome that as I am reading fiction and I am a very forgiving reader when it comes to these things. More than that I was taken back by how similar he sounded to another author’s characters. Normally this isn't something I would notice, but this particular author has a very strong voice for her alpha men. Unfortunately that provided a distraction and was a little frustrating.

Regardless, I did enjoy Jamie and Tori’s story and if you are looking for a sexy read with fun chemistry this is your book and I think you will enjoy it. I just wanted more, but that’s me and everyone is different.

After reading some of the early reviews for this, a part of me is sort of happy that I didn't read Four Letter Word yet. I went into this book blind. I didn't know Jamie and so he started with a blank slate. I've gotta say that I fell for him pretty quickly. Yeah yeah yeah "but what about when he cussed out Tori?" So what? I would have done the same thing. I probably would have said A LOT worse. Given the circumstances, that one scene didn't deter me from swooning all over him.

Tori, on the other hand, drove me freaking nuts for the first half of the book. This was probably because I couldn't relate. I know it was a case of "it's just me". I know. Because I really kinda hated her for the first 50% or so. I couldn't see where she was coming from because I didn't read the first book and therefore bypassed all of Jamie's whorishness (yeah, it's a word. My word). So, for the first part, Tori came off childish, immature, slightly insane, irrational, etc. You get my drift. Thankfully my opinion of her vastly improved for the second half because I came to love her in the end.

The thing I love about this author's books is that while they're romantic and swoony and sexy and erotic and hot and "oh my gosh, why isn't this happening to me right now" steamy, they're also pretty funny. And no two books are alike IMO. They don't follow a set formula so you NEVER know what you're going to get. I couldn't predict shit. You just know that you're guaranteed to love the direction she's going to take you in. I had a love/hate relationship with the games these characters played (I'm not a fan of emotional games or any form of manipulation... that's me), but I absolutely loved them together. I even loved Jamie's caveman speech. Dude couldn't form a complete sentence if his life depended on it. HOT!!

Back to the funny. As I type this, I'm chuckling over the diner scene when Tori wants to claim Jamie to the 5 people in there. Too freaking hilarious!

I can't wait to find out what J. Daniels is coming out with next!

Tori Rivera is a 24 yr. old woman living in Dogwood Beach, North Carolina. She's a waitress, & works at an ocean-front restaurant called Whitecaps. A gorgeous local surfer named Jamie McCade comes into her work constantly hitting on her. He's made it his mission to harass her & push all her buttons. He's rude, arrogant & the sexiest man she's ever seen. Tori refuses to be just another one of his hook ups, so she tries her best to act unaffected by him. He pursues her, & she acts like she's not interested, but Jamie see's right through her act. She isn't fooling him. He knows she wants him, & he always gets what he wants.

-On top of being the most irritating man in the history of irritating men, Jamie was beautiful.

-Jamie took what he wanted. He didn't say please, he said now. And worse, he knew whatever he was asking for you wanted just as bad as he did.

-I was insane for this girl.

-I wanted everything. Her body, her mind, her sanity.

-I wanted her ruined. I wanted Tori Rivera as fucked up and crazy about me as I was about her.

Jamie has never had to work this hard to get the girl, but he puts in the time with Tori. He wants her bad, and is relentless in his pursuit. Nine months later he's still chasing her, so he raises the stakes. He bets her that soon she will not only want him in her bed, but she'll be begging for it. Tori decides to play his game & finds herself really wanting him back. She soon realizes she has quite the weakness for this beautiful loser & is desperate for his touch. The sexual tension between them is off the charts, & as much as Tori tries not to want him, she just can't fight it anymore.

 photo EC30ECCF-0EEE-480D-98BD-83A7F598756E_zpsxypivj2k.jpg

Suddenly they are both overwhelmed by feelings & Jamie is finally getting where he wants to be, which is in her heart. He finally has his obsession, the woman starring in all his fantasies, & he just craves more. Tori is nervous to trust Jamie. He has a reputation as a player & she doesn't want to get hurt. She has no clue just how gone this man is over her.

This was my first book by J. Daniels & I loved it! Jamie was 100% alpha & absolutely delicious! Can't wait to read more by this author.

From my review of Four Letter Word:
"I loved the side story with the secondary characters, Tori and Jamie. Their banter was fabulous! Jamie is the perfect example of a male whore waiting to be redeemed and he wants Tori to be his redeemer. Tori is spectacular. She's level headed and not afraid to speak her mind. She is fun, mouthy, sarcastic and protective. The perfect friend."

Jamie and Tori made that book for me. I loved them and could not wait to get their book.

Unfortunately, what I got was an alpha male so reminiscent of Kristen Ashley's men, in both his speech and demeanor that I was forced to compare this book with the 40+ of hers that I have read. From his "babe's" to the way he ordered her around to the doin's, ain'ts, playin's, throwin's and admittin's, the character I loved in Four Letter Word, disappeared.

Tori was just as disappointing. What I had loved most about her character was that she was level headed and not afraid to speak her mind, be it in a funny, sarcastic manner, Tori was not a push over. But sadly, here, she became a timid creature. Sure there were times she bantered back with Jamie, but she would second guess herself after the encounter. She was no longer self-assured. The problem this created for me was that because she was not a strong character, there was nothing to balance out Jamie. Thus making him look like a controlling (bordering on abusive) a$$! I needed her to push back more and to be more confident. I didn't like that she was always apologizing.

I have read other reviews and have come to realize this is a case of IT'S ME, not YOU (the book). Many people gave this 4 and 5 stars. So make sure you read their reviews as well.

I’ve said this before, but I popped my erotica cherry as it were with a J. Daniels book (Sweet Addiction, in case you’re curious). She’s had a special place in my heart ever since. I love her and her books—almost as much as bacon—and while I liked Hit the Spot, I didn’t adore it.

This is the second standalone in the Dirty Deeds series. We met Jamie in the first book, Four Letter Word. Honestly, I thought he was a bit of an ass in that book. I’m not a huge fan of alpha a-hole heroes, but I was willing to give him a shot at redemption. He’s a jerk in the beginning of this story, albeit a kind of cute one. Although Tori refuses to give Jamie the time of day, he won me over with his growing thoughtfulness.

Jamie is gentle, doting, intuitive, and sexy as all get out. What I didn’t care for comes down to my personal preference as a reader. His foul language bothered me. He drops the f-bomb and other curse words in every other sentence that comes out of his mouth. As much as I liked him, it wasn’t endearing. Also, he seems to have an aversion to using pronouns at the beginning of sentences.
“Know you are, babe,” I murmured. “Don’t need to be, but I feel that.”

“Tense upstairs, babe. Felt it when I held you.”
I’m not the grammar police, but it was distracting. I get that these nuances are probably intentional character choices, but they just didn’t do it for me.

Tori and Jamie make a bet that is just begging to be lost by both parties, but she continues to play games with him long after the bet is over. Even though I loved Tori and her stubborn feistiness, her game playing stretches on way too long. I enjoyed the extreme patience Jamie shows while waiting for Tori to let him inside her soft heart though. Once she climbs aboard the Jamie train, there are so many sweet and swoony moments.
“I’d burn the whole fuckin’ world down for you, you know that?”
Jamie and Tori take naughtiness to a whole new level. They are off the Richter scale in terms of earth shaking, smoldering, dirty sexy times. As usual, J. Daniels’s writing is pretty much an erotica lover’s wet dream. More importantly, she gives the characters wonderful opportunities to share their connection outside the bedroom. Their joking, nurturing, and tenderness are incredibly appealing.

Hit the Spot may not be my favorite book in my J. Daniels collection, but it is fun, sexy, and enjoyable.

I love J. Daniels reads and I love this series. There’s something about alpha males in meaty books that just grab your attention. Hit the Spot is the second book in the Dirty Deeds series and is a standalone. This is Tory and Jamie’s story. They are best friends of the main characters in the previous book, Four Letter Word.

I LOVE Tory from Four Letter Word. I always like the spunky best friend and I was anxious to read her tale. She’s the one that had an affair with a married man (not knowing). Tory is single and she’s pretty angry with men. Her ex-boyfriend was married and he never bothered to tell her that. You can see where this girl has trust issues.

For nine months, Jamie has been hitting on Tory. I love Jamie from Four Letter Word, because I always like it when the Hero chases after the Heroine. Every day he would hit on her and every day she would do something to his food, it was really funny and I couldn’t wait for it to be played out.

Eventually, someone is going to get tired and it’s either they move forward or break ties. But why not make a game out of it? Somehow Tory and Jamie come up with this crazy plan and bet to see who can get into each other’s pants first.

One of the things I really enjoyed most about this book was Jamie. I really liked him as the Hero. He’s the sweet, surfer laid back dude. He doesn’t have any rules and he’s just carefree. He’s also very confident and knows what he wants. I liked reading him going after Tory daily. I liked him pushing her buttons and boundaries and trying to get her to do something more.

Tory’s heart is guarded as it should be and she gives Jamie a run for his money. Of course every once in a while she lets up a little and it’s sweet to see Tory and Jamie interact.

Overall, if you love the series, you will not be disappointed with this one.

Speechless...Utterly Speechless!!!

And this right here is the very main reason why I love reading J.Daniels works. She never ceases to amaze me and her works screams Perfectly Imperfect. Just when I thought I couldn't love her works even more, she writes this beautiful story that is really so unique and addictive. Not over the top, but OFF THE CHARTS! And Hit The Spot really "Hit The Spot". Straight A!

My God, I cannot contain what I'm feeling right now even after several hours reading the book. I am just so far gone into the world of Jamie Mccade and Tori Rivera and I really don't wanna go back. First few pages and I was held captive. J. Daniels words is like a magnet pulling me through every words and lines, breathing it and living through it like an addiction I cannot stop because stopping it means not living with it and Hit The Spot is just the perfect book you wanna live with, reading over and over again without getting bored but just reliving the moment.

You really cannot blame me. Because this is J.Daniels here plus her characters in this book. It just feels so right. Now, take this, Jamie Mccade, a surfer, thick eyebrows. A perfectly straight nose . He looked model perfect and camera ready, except for the five o’clock shadow speckling his jaw. That roughed him up a bit. And if he wasn’t already scoring points in the looks department, boom, dimples. He… had… dimples. But then he's a jerk too and the biggest player ever. But take this again, his alpha and jealous ways is just to die for. Add up his dirty mouth and his dirty ways and I'm sure you'll be a goner. Not only that, when you met him for sure you'll gonna love him even more because his character is a surprise. Yes, because he is more than just what we think he is. When I say more, love me or hate me but I'm telling you, this man is FLAT.OUT SO MUCH MORE! And I'm keeping him.

Enter Tori Rivera and you do not know what to do. You'll love her and hate her and then love her even more. This woman has a sassy mouth and a character you wanna scream so loud because it frustrates you but made you take back all the frustrations because you then realize how you wanted to keep her too because you just love her just as much you love Jamie Mccade. Yeah, talk about emotional game and this woman is just it. But my God, their chemistry is sizzling and just deep to the bones scorching! They are so sexy and adorable together I don't have any hard time relating to them. They are just simply PERFECT for each other.Jamie's protectiveness and Tori's craziness would even burn you for them. Because I did and I declare this, they're one of the best couples to date!

In totality, the book is really good. No, it was great. I love everything about it. How they met, what went trough and the in betweens. It was sweet, it was hot and words weighed emotions. I just don't love the characters but on how it was written that really managed to make so captivated. I did seriously devour this book from start to finish.Jamie and Tori's journey really is a definition of love's spontaneity. It doesn't matter if you follow the steps or skipped it several times. It may be overwhelming, uncontrollable. You might even get scared along the way. Because in the end, what matters most is you both know deep in your hearts how you really meant for each other.

Indeed, Love was an adventure. It should be spontaneous and irresponsible and a little crazy. Not planned for. Not overthought .

"I hit your soft and I'm fuckin' stayin' there.

Another lovely reading by this great author in the "Dirty Deeds series"! I enjoyed this book and the characters and the story line. They were HOT for each other and they had some AMAZING sex scenes going on that could set any house in fire!!! I liked how they challenge each other and argued as a foreplay...Dammmm!!!!

Jamie MacCade. Gorgeous dickhead.
Local asshole.
Biggest player on the planet.

Jamie and Tori were a good couple. I wasn't expecting Jamie to be the guy he turned out to be... Huge surprise here...Count me speechless at some parts of the book! He did some wonderful things for Tori and was ready to claim her any second of the day to make sure she was his and get it through her that this was a forever kind of story!

Motherfucker. I'd been claimed. Tori Rivera owned my shit.
And I was more that okay with that.

Jamie was a surfer...a hot surfer with a wet and delicious body, ready to make you lose your mind!!! And a piercing package in his pants that hit every spot in your body...
description

I wanted everything. Her body, her mind, her sanity. Having her break into my house or coming to my fucking work. I wanted her ruined. I wanted Tori Rivera as fucked up and crazy about me as I was about her.

description

"You fuckin' love me, boy."

I enjoyed this book but I had some issues once again! I didn't like Tori in the beginning of the book she was always running, hiding or lying about her true feelings...I understood her insecurities and I could relate with her and her reasons behind her behavior but it just bothered me! Thank God she got to her senses. And my main issue once again is the writing style and the way Jamie talked! I had the same issue in the first book with Brian too, it reminds me so much of KA's writing style and it bothered me while I was reading! Can she just go back to her writing style which I liked and appreciated...

"I doodle your name on notepads, do you know that? And in my ticket book. On napkins. I'm constantly doing it. And I say things to you when you're asleep and you can't hear me. I say so many things. and I watch you and I think about you."

Enjoy! xxx

Move over Trouble aka Brian cause Jamie has taken your place and captured my heart. I have to be honest and say, that I was a little skeptical about Jamie because he was all about the ladies and screwing around, but after finishing Hit The Spot I can safely say I was wrong. Very wrong about him and who he was as a person and as a man. I liked the introduction of Tori in Four Letter Word and in Hit The Spot she went all out and showed me all her sides I came to enjoy and many many more.

Tori definitely didn't give Jamie an easy time even though he tried to win her over by showing her all of his moves. It was a certain bet that slowly made them get to know one another more deeply. Still Tori was very apprehensive of Jamie and letting him in her heart because of his behavior as a ladies man. They played with each other, a push and pull game and I enjoyed how they both were affected by one another yet still tried to play it cool. Jamie showed his attentiveness and proved that once he made a promise he kept it. He kept surprising me throughout the story and his care and want for Tori was definitely swoon worthy. Tori showed her growth by taking risks and claimed Jamie in a very hilarious scene at a restaurant. So much fun. Yes, she was insecure about him at times but who could blame her with Jamie's track record of ladies.

If you've read a J. Daniels book before then you know that sex occurs and in Hit The Spot it's no different. There's sex and plenty of it but that's also what makes it a J. Daniels book besides her lovable characters. The connection and chemistry between Jamie and Tori was blazing hot. No doubt about their want and need for each other but their friendship was just as important to me. Brian and Sydney showed up too and it gave me the feeeling of being a part of a family. Their dynamics were strong and enjoyed that Tori also had some scenes with Brian. These four people have definitely hit my soft spot.

Overall Opinion: Meh, this was a little bit less than ok for me. I became really frustrated with the h by the end. I actually liked her character in the first book, Four Letter Word, so this was disappointing. I still liked the H though. I thought it was pretty clever for the author to start the story after the douchey situation (pm me if you want to know what it was) that occurs between them in the first book, but it is addressed briefly and then promptly swept under the rug in this one. I also found it WAY too mushy once the h gives into her feelings! I think the story would've benefited for a little bit of actual angst, and not just the stupid argument they have and they both blow way out of proportion. We hear about their dreams for the future earlier in the book, so why not include an epilogue that has some of those dreams fulfilled?!? While the epilogue was cute, it wasn't enough for me...but really, I was ready for it to be done anyways :/

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Tori and Jamie's story. Jamie has been pursuing Tori for many months before their best-friends end up together. They are constantly thrown in situations together, and Tori has a hard time continuing to push him away. After a literal run-in, they make a bet about who will give in to their sexual tension first. They spend more and more time together, and Tori ends up realizing that he is worth taking a chance on. There is some family and career drama, some insecurities to get past....and they get a HFN ending.

POV: This alternated between Tori and Jamie's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Ok. There were times that it felt slow (usually the mushy parts), but I never skimmed.

Instalove: No, they've known each other for ~9 months.

H rating: 4 stars. Jamie. I liked him. He was a good guy inside with the cocky exterior. He does get a little dumb towards the end, but I think I was too focused being irritated with the h to be bothered by it ;)

h rating: 2 stars. Tori. She bugged me. She was sending major mixed signals constantly, and she was so stubbornly against the idea of being with the H that she became OTT mushy when they do get together.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed.

Push/Pull: Yes! Too much for my liking.

Heat level: Moderate. The have some hot chemistry and scenes.

Descriptive sex: Yes

Safe sex: Yes

OW/OM drama: Yes

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: No

Separation: Yes

Possible Triggers: Yes, but nothing major

Closure: This had ok closure, but I wanted a farther jump ahead epilogue. I would call it a HFN, but others might be fine calling it a HEA

How I got it: I got it on loan through my public library.

Safety: This should be Safe For most readers.

I gotta admit that I really enjoyed this one. Despite all the OTT dialogue spewing from the H's mouth, and despite the h's semi borderline personality disorder (that tested my patience every once in a while); I really, really ate this one up with a big, enjoable spoon!

The thing that dropped a star for me would be the H's overly OTT, semi uneducated, repetitive vernacular and communication style. Which I felt, considering his upper middle-class background, was kind of overly done and distracting at times. BUT in the book world, I can see it working for other readers, however, in real-world... some of his actions and words would be considered; disrespectful and marginally harassing. Thank God it's book world, hey?

Did the H redeem his manwhoring ways after book #1? Yes, I believe the author did a great job in knotting up his prior wayward loose ends, in a way where I wasn't even questioning them as harshly as the h did.

Told in dual POV and standalone story in a series. I would say one could jump straight into this book without having to read book #1, but there are some glossed over background references that book #1 would provide better and more detail for (but those are minimal and the H was a real dickturd in that book). Sweet HFN at the end that I was content with because I know we'll be seeing more of the gang in future books for this series.

"...I didn't know what guy you were.I didn't know if I could believe what you would say to me or how you would make me feel. I didn't want to be stupid. I didn't want to fall for this guy who acted like I meant something to him and who would say things to me that I would think about for hours after he left. I didn't want you to hurt me. I was scared. That's why I fought it. Then I stopped fighting it. I stopped because I knew who you were. My heart knew exactly which guy you were. It still knows and that scares me the most. Not because I worry you might hurt me but because I know I will never get over it. Not after nine days. Not after forever. I will never get over YOU."

Jaime is lude, crude, and often rude, but I liked him all the same. Tori and Jaime were a trip. The back and forth, friends to lovers action was quite entertaining. I read this because I've read so many mixed reviews and needed to see for myself if I'd fall head over heels with this series. I'm loving the Alabama series and lightning does strike twice sometimes, right?

While I liked the story, the main characters had moments that I just could not get down with. I feel Jaime's alpha-male characteristics were a bit too exaggerated and bordered on rude. If he had been just a smidge softer earlier in the book, this would easily be a 4.5 star review. Just my humble opinion.

So, with that said...I liked it. I'll continue with the series and hope like hell the next book is about the biker. Fingers crossed!
