I’m Marissa Garner. I’m a wife, writer, chocoholic, and animal lover, not necessarily in that order. As a little girl, I cut pictures of people out of my mother’s magazines and turned them into characters in my simple stories. Now I write sexy paranormal romantic suspense, steamy contemporary romance, and edgy romantic thrillers. I live in sunny Southern California with my husband, but enjoy traveling from Athens to Anchorage to Acapulco and to many locations in between.

I write romance to titillate your mind as well as your libido. My stories appeal to romance readers who:

•Choose French Silk over vanilla

•Don’t always color inside the lines and don’t like being told no

•Think some rules are made to be broken

•Have the courage to push the envelope when they’re passionate about something

•Believe fiction should be as unpredictable as real life

If this sounds like your kind of romance, have fun exploring my website and stories.

As expected, I was not disappointed by the third book in Ms. Garner’s series. First off, I love the heroine and hero names. Yes, I’m a name geek. Katriona and Dillon. Names are important in fiction to set a tone! A problem at the nuclear power plant where Kat (good short name too) works is troubling. And there is no one she can trust to help her figure it out. Well, yeah, there is but she’s the guy she left at the altar. When it was revealed in the story why she left him, in spite of loving him, my immediate reaction was whoa is he going to be angry. Dillon is FBI. There is lots of suspense and danger. And the love they still have, although rocky, holds it all together.

In Wanted by Marissa Garner, when Kat makes uneasy discoveries at work, she turns to the one person she thinks will be able to help her - Dillon, an FBI Special Agent. It's not that easy though, because Dillon is also the man she left at the altar two years ago. She still trusts him and she still loves him, even if she is keeping secrets from him. For him to help her she doesn't need to tell her secrets though...she just needs to find out what is going on at the Diablo Beach Nuclear Power Plant. Dillon grew up in foster care and has always felt unlovable. He shuts himself off from caring, especially after how things ended with Kat. Because he still doesn't know why they ended. But he does know despite the betrayal and heart break she caused, he can't say no to her...not with so much at stake. Putting the past behind them might not be so easy though, and neither will uncovering what is going on at the nuclear power plant. Will they be able to do either or both?

The mysterious part of the plot of Wanted felt realistic, because something like what was happening seems like something that could happen! I liked the suspense, and the slow unraveling of the why, how and who as Kat and Dillon raced to find out what was going on.

I alternately liked Kat and didn't like her all that much. She made some significant decisions that impacted other people on her own, made a lot of assumptions, and caused a lot of hurt. Especially to Dillon. What made it worse was that she knew what he came from and his feelings on certain issues. That she loves him made her actions all the more difficult for me to easily accept. There were other parts of her I liked, personally and professionally, and she really is determined, brave, and not one to back away from some issues. She is not perfect by any means, and that made her feel more real. I really liked Dillon. The way Marissa wrote his character just brought him to life and made me feel so much for him and the boy he was. He does a lot, and he is a lot more than he gives himself credit for. I liked that he didn't brush Kat off despite their past. As that past comes to light with the danger that follows them, he handles it remarkably! I think both of these characters grew a lot in Wanted, and I hoped they'd have a chance to not only uncover what is going on in the nuclear power plant, but that they'd get their second chance.

The romance and suspense in Wanted is a good mix, and both complement the other. The pace of the story is steady and strong. Part of Marissa Garner's FBI Heat series, Wanted can be read as a stand alone. I'd recommend Wanted to romantic suspense readers.

Kat Mackenzie left Dillon O'Malley at the altar two years ago, breaking his heart. She left her job, left her home, and left the love of her life without any explanation as to why. But when she discovers a major malfunction at the nuclear plant where she now works, her only hope to get answers is to contact Dillon again and pray that he doesn't blow her off - or discover the secret of why she left. Soon, Kat's concerns are realized and it becomes a race against time to avoid a devastating disaster. Just as it seems everything is calm, new threats come into their lives causing more trouble than before. The results will either bring Kat and Dillon back together, or tear them apart for good.

Wanted by Marissa Garner is a story of two characters who love each other dearly, but allow a miscommunication to come between them. A simple conversation would have changed everything. Kat and Dillon love each other, and those feelings do not change in their time apart. This is an important point, as it takes a lot of trust for these two to come together to solve the issue. I have not read any of the other books in the FBI Heat series, but this book does well as a standalone. There are no unanswered questions and the supporting characters are not so involved with the story that it causes readers to be more curious about them than the plot.

The story of Dillon and Kat is one of loving someone so much, you think your doing the right thing, but maybe it wasn't right after all. How do you contact someone who you have hurt? How do you swallow your pride because justice needs to be done. This book is beautifully written as were the first two books in the series. The characters are real, they are vulnerable. I was caught up in the story from the very beginning.
I was so graciously given this book to review by NetGalley and I didn't realize when I picked it, it was the third book in the series. After reading the first few pages, I actually put it down and went and got the other two books to read first. The book could be a stand alone book, but I enjoyed the characters developing and how their relationships intertwined.
I would highly recommend this book. It has all the ingredients for a perfect mystery along with well written characters. I personally can't wait to see if there is a Book #4!

I really enjoyed this. My first by this author. Lack of communication played a huge role in this book, but oddly it worked. One character didn't communicate with the other because she was certain she was doing what was best for him. Even writing it, it shouldn't work, but it did.

Good, fast paced romantic suspense.

Review can be read at It's About The Book

An excellent, fast romance read that had characters who were well-fleshed out along with an exciting plot arc. However, much as I love this trope, I felt that it wasn’t entirely believable–but I quickly suspended disbelief like a good girl and enjoyed this story.

Kat MacKenzie knew something was going on at the nuclear faculty she was working at, but her boss continued to ignore her warnings. Was he part of the problem? Her only choice was to get help from someone she knew did not want to ever hear from her again –the man she’d left at the altar.

The last thing Dillon needed was a visitor from his past. He’d ignored the multiple calls from what he’d assumed was a telemarketer–until it was late at night and he was sick and tired of it. He finally answered only to hear the last voice he thought he’d hear–his ex. Why would she call him?

Unfortunately for them both, the problem was bigger than a simple phone call could solve, and even though Dillon had handed her over to one of his associates, he couldn’t avoid getting involved–because he still cared about Kat–and she still cared about him. So why had she left him?

When evidence was found that proved Kat’s instincts were correct–that someone was manipulating the cooling systems at the reactor, it put her life on the line.

As Dillon and Kat worked together to protect themselves as well as protecting national security, their feelings got involved again. If they make it through this, is there a chance that they can have a future together?

I really enjoyed this and think it’s a great, quick read that any romantic suspense readers would enjoy. Thanks

A first rate cyber-terrorist thriller. The writing is on point. The flow was methodical and paced to keep me guessing and on the edge of my seat. This is the first book from the series, and by this author that I’ve read, but I’ve already added ‘Hunted’ and ‘Targeted’ to my TBR.

Dillon O’Malley is the perfectly flawed, emotionally stunted ‘hero’, who just happens to be an FBI agent. What’s not to love? Haunted by the endless stream of foster care homes that made up his childhood, and condemned by the love of his life leaving him at the altar without any explanation, Dillon considers himself unlovable, and immerses himself in his work. He relocates to a new city and new field office, establishes a new routine in his life, and pretty much goes through the motions for two years. That is until his runaway bride contacts him. She suspects something is not right at the nuclear plant where she works and no one is listening to her. Obviously, Dillon is going to help her, regardless of the beating his ego and emotions take. He even steps back into his former world of black hat ops – and things really get interesting! But, I figured out who Mr. Bad Guy was before it was revealed, and then it made sense that no physical description was ever given – would have been a dead giveaway once Shadow and Chaos figured out the threat origins.

My stumbling point in this story in Katriona MacKenzie. Obviously, Kat is intelligent…I guess. She is sharp enough to know control readings are not what they should be for a reactor that’s being decommissioned. Okay. Then when I learned why she left Dillon at the altar, she was dead to me. Her reason simply wasn’t compelling enough for all the turmoil and heartache she caused. And, at the very least, since she thought she was so smart and self-sacrificing, she should have told the man why she couldn’t marry him. The situation definitely couldn’t have been any more of a mess. All of the “wanting Dillon to be happy and live the life he wanted” smaltz never resonated with me. If she had stopped for half a second, she would have realized she was wrong for the very reason Dillon gives her near the end of the story. Meh. I couldn’t dislike her more if she were a Kardashian.

But, even though Kat and I will never be friends, I still enjoyed the story. It was good to see that even without all the dots connected in the beginning, Dillon still had the support of his fellow agents, and they always had his back. The story ends a bit abruptly. It would have been good to see Kat’s parents and Dillon make peace since they’d all been deceived. But Dillon gets his happy ending, and I’m okay with that.

Enjoy!

Wanted is the third book in the (FBI Heat Series ) by Marissa Garner ,and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed this sweet story. Ms Garner has given us a story that will grab us and hold our attention from start to finish, and then will leave us wanting more from this author. This book is filled with some action-adventure and romance all stirred seamlessly together to give us a well developed read, and the way the author weaved an unblemished tense story flows endlessly for us. Kat Mackenzie is the Queen of bad choices specially after she left her fiancee at the alter because she believed that he would resent her and the baby she was carrying . It was because she loved him so much and wanted him to have the life that he wanted. And he had no plans of being a father. Kat now has a job with the Diablo Beach Nuclear Power Plant ,but she knows that there's something suspicious going on . She's really not sure who's all involved so she contracts the one person who she can trust, and it's no other then Dillon (her ex-fiancee) .Dillon has been transferred to the San Diego FBI Office because he wanted to get away from the memories of Kat and what he had. Then he gets a call from the love of his life Kat, and he's flabbergasted when he hears the secret that she's been keeping from him but he sees red at the same time. But with an arranged car accident ,shoot outs, and some burglary attempts against Kat's life ,Dillon has his hands filled with more then he can deal with . I liked how Kat was a strong mother ,but I didn't like how she really didn't give Dillon the chance to be a father .She just took it upon herself to know what was best for him. Kat wasn't perfect and that is what makes her little more realistic to me. The characters that Ms Garner has given us are lovable and very strong and will make you like them in more ways . I could tell you more about this great story, but that would spoil it for you. I highly recommend that you read this story, you won't be disappointed.

Katriona is the Queen of bad decisions! She left her fiancee at the alter believing he would always resent her and the baby she carried. He had no plans on being a biological father and she loved him enough that she wanted him to have the life he wanted. She now works at the Diablo Beach Nuclear Power Plant and she knows there is something hinky going on. She's not sure how fat the rot spreads so she contacts the only person she can trust - Dillon (said ex-fiancee).

Dillon transferred to the San Diego FBI office to get away from the memories of Kat and what could have been. When he gets a call out of the blue from her he's pretty much gobsmacked! But when he learns the bog ole secret she's been keeping from him, he hits the roof. But with staged car accidents, shoot outs and sneak in burglary attempts against Kat's life, Dillon has more on his plate than he knows how to deal with!

Kat was kind of a dichotomy. She was likeable and strong mother but she also never gave Dillon a chance to be a father, she just decided she knew what he wanted and went with it! She is far from perfect and that made her feel a bit more realistic. I loved her parents, Scottish transplants, cos well I'm Scottish and it's nice to see a compatriot in a book, LOL! Dillon has layers under his layers and I loved hearing about his Hacktivist past. TSK forever!

Action-adventure and romance all blend seamlessly into a great tale, with a good pace and and strong characters.

Kat has a problem on her hands. There are things not quite adding up at work. The one person to help happens to be part of her past. Part of a past she just cut and bailed on.

Dillion was that past that Kat left behind, but know he is the key to helping fix the future of millions of lives. With the lives of millions at stake and Kat doing the asking he comes in and works to save the day. But of course there are obstacles in their way.

I did not walk in on an on-going plotline. I did not walk in on an ongoing series connection, that I would have felt a loss of information. I did get me a second chance at the one romance with some dramatic suspense and intrigue. I got a complete start to finish with not cliff hangers, not added cast that have to know what their story was, and not muddled confusion. I did get me an honest to goodness romantic suspense. Why did she leave? Why did he not follow/fight? Why was this happening? Where did it all start? How are these things connected?

Pick it up if you are looking for a simple down to earth romantic suspense. One that you don’t have to have all the proceeding books in the series read to follow.

If you know me, you know I love a good romantic suspense read. It is my favourite typed of read. 'Wanted' pulled me straight into its plot twists and kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. Before I knew it the afternoon had passed me by and I had finished it.

When Kat feels that there is something wrong at work, she turns to her ex when no-one else will listen. Her ex Dillon is an FBI agent and the man she left at the alter two years ago.

I loved that, despite the time passing and the circumstances around their break-up, their connection was still there and strong. As they try to elude unknown forces and stay one step ahead, they are forced closer and closer which risks revealing the reason Kat left in the first place.

Both of these characters got under my skin and the writing weaved an impeccably tense read. Whilst this is the first Melissa Garner book I have read, I will definitely be revisiting her work in the future.

FBI agent Dillon pretty much hates Kat since she literally left him at the alter and disappeared. Kat believes she had no other choice but to run. Her parents supported her and even moved away with her. When Kat notices unusual things happening at the nuclear power plant where she works, Dillon is her only option for help. Unfortunately for Kat, not just Dillon, but also his colleagues refuse to deal with her. It's not until Dillon finds out her life is in danger that he becomes marginally involved in helping her. The two begin to work out some of their issues, but Kat still has a huge secret to protect, one that is likely to destroy everything.

I enjoy Marissa Garner's books. This one had a few surprises and one really huge secret. I liked the characters even though I disliked their choices at times. This was a good addition to the FBI Heat series.

I received an ARC from Net Galley for review.

Kat MacKenzie isn’t sure that turning to her ex-fiancé is the best thing to do, but with her instincts screaming that someone is doing something wrong at her current workplace – a nuclear power plant in the process of being decommissioned – she needs help and Dillon O’Malley is the right man for the job and the only person she can trust. Haunted is a fun cyber terrorist thriller but you have quickly suspended disbelief. Enjoy the Romantic Suspense for what it is. There is a good blend of romance to the suspense giving readers what they want.
The flow and pace were perfect keeping me on the edge of my seat never leaving the reader bored or flipping though pages to get back to the excitement.
The Characters are well flushed out but the female lead will drive you a little nutty because of her lack to be able to see past her own mistakes.
Well paced suspense, with perfect mixture of romance.
