What a delightful series. I definitely recommend buying the entire Box Set as I doubt that you will want to stop and have to purchase the next book each time you come to the end of a 'book'. It is not really about a DOMINANT/submissive relationship, although there are tiny bits of it worked in.

Xavier Hammond just returned safely from a dangerous mission. After a night of relaxing, he goes for a walk and smells smoke, then sees a warehouse on fire and hears a child calling for help. He runs into the building and saves the boy. While inside, he sees the prone body of an adult male. After he hands off the child to paramedics, he returns to the warehouse which is now fully engulfed in flames. He barely manages to escape alive with the man. X, as he is known is badly burned and immediately transferred to the closest hospital with a burn unit.

Nori, a nurse on the burn unit, is just coming on shift when the ambulance with X arrives. She immediately sees that his burns are bad and follows him to see if she can be of immediate help before they even get him on her unit. Although she is responsible for several burn patients, X is the one to whom she is drawn. She spends a great deal of time in his room, sitting by his side, and then taking care of him. His only visitor is a priest that X knew for many years. One that helped him make good choices when things could easily have gone the wrong way.

Once he is ready to be released from the hospital, X, Nori, and the priest know that there will be many months of intense rehabilitation, dressing changes, and psychological needs to be met. The priest convinces Nori to accompany X back to Philadelphia and care for him. He is quite persuasive, and she agrees. The life X once knew as a soldier, is over, but he has nothing to take its place, just scars and pain, both physical and emotional. He is depressed and Nori lost her brother to suicide when he returned from active duty missing a limb. She is scared that X may go that route, so she uses what she knows of the D/s lifestyle to try to give X back some control over his life, by trying to teach him how to become a Dominant without having sex.

This is a wonderful book, rich with emotion, healing, and even love. I highly recommend this book! Well worth your time, I think

Book 1
Really enjoying this book so far. We meet X and his a Sergeant and he has a couple days off so him and his friend go home. When hearing a child needed help he runs into a burning building to help but get's badly injured and might mean his career is done. That's were he meets Nori. Nori is a nurse and her boyfriend Tanner have been together for 4 yrs but she doesn't feel like loves him anymore and he feels it too and remains friends. Caring for X has Nori thinking she might care to much for X

Book 2
With X going back to Philly he just wants to be left alone. With a horrible past that X will never be able to let go. He gets a surprise since he fired his nurse. Father O'Toole will do anything to help X out and call Nori for help. Nori and Tanner we're drifting apart and thought it was a perfect time to leave home and help X since she can't stop thinking if he is ok. I can't wait to read more of X and Nori

Book 3
With X feeling like he just wants to give up, Nori has an idea that might work, teaching X to become a Dom. They both want each other but don't want to voice it. X thinks no one will ever want him because of his scars and Nori doesn't want to get that close but how long can they go on with the sexual tension between them? The ending I was like damn and had to read book 4 right away.

Book 4
With X finally going to say how he feels Nori's ex comes and wants her back. But when a tragedy happens X & Nori come together and in an instant X can't help but push her away. Just when X maybe pushed to far and wants to talk he looks for Nori and she is gone? Is it to late for X or will he finally tell Nori how he feels? Can't wait to read what happens next

Book 5
X thinks he finally pushed Nori away and will do anything to get her back. He goes to San Antonio with one mission to get Nori back. But is he too late to convince her that he wants her. This was another great series

I started off not being sure of this series but after sticking with it and when I reached book 4 I started to think that it was a good series. The only thing that I think let this series down for me is that I had to wait until I was near the end for me to start enjoying the book, I'm not normally one to dislike any of M.S. Parker's books but I personally think that this book didn't exactly reach out to me. I'm glad I stuck with it as I didn't think it would have been fair to any other readers because they might choose not to read it at all.

Xavier has been in the army for a while now and to him that is his home as he has no family. He lives for the army otherwise to him there would be no point in living. When he ends up running into a burning warehouse to save a small child he ends up getting very badly burned, which results in him having to stay in hospital for three months.

Nori loves being a nurse and helping people, she works in the burn unit so when Xavier gets rushed in she just runs straight into help him even though he hasn't been assigned to her. For some reason Xavier triggers memories of her brother as he was also a solider in the army so in a way she feels like it's her job to make sure that he lives. Over the three months that he's there she makes sure that he's comfortable as he can be and sits there as he has no family.

When it comes to the time that Xavier is released he heads back to his home town with Father O'Toole and starts to be difficult as he sees that there really is no point in anything. However Father O'Toole has a trick up his sleeve so when he gets in touch with Nori he offers her a job that she can't really refuse.

Will Nori be able to get Xavier out of the dark forever or will it just be temporary, what will happen when the chemistry between the two is undeniable. I hope that you enjoy this series as the writing is really good. If I would have been able to get into the book from the beginning I would of had a different point of view for this series but hopefully you will love it. Take a chance with it as you never know until you read it.

For a NY times best seller you'd think she know it's fucking dominant not dominate. I couldn't finish this when such a glaring error kept being repeated. Where the fuck were the editors?

Nori was a RN at the military hospital. Nori had been seeing her boyfriend Tanner. When she got off of work she went to see her dad who was drunk as usual. Leaving she called Tanner and when he mentioned a club Nori suggested they go to the Black Masque. Xavier was walking down the street because he couldn’t sleep then he sees this warehouse burning and he hears cry’s of a little child.he rushed into the burning building to save the child. While he was there he sustained burns when he got the child out he could still see another body he went back for the next for that person and in doing so got badly injured. He is brought to the hospital with severe burns to 30% of his body. Nori was at the hospital and when she came in she all all the patients going into the ER. She notices one of the badly burned victims so she talked to the doctor and she told her to say even though she was not assigned to the area. Once they go X fairly stable they wanted to find out where they could contact his family. Since they had his wallet they noticed that he was military so Nori went to the base to find out more about X. She would sit there to check on him and looking at his wounds from what she found out about him it was going to be hard. X is going to have a long road ahead because he will need extensive physical therapy. Nori doesn’t know why she was drawn to X. X’s friend shows upend X writes that he wanted to die. X is getting ready to leave the hospital with Father O’Toole to go back to Philadelphia. He did all the physical therapy that he could an then they released him to go back to Philadelphia. Nori went to visit him before he left and he was a little surly to her. Meanwhile, Tanner and Nori are still together but both of them knew the romantic part of their relationship was over and they agreed to be friends. X was having a little melt down he fired the nurse and scared the other help. Father O’Toole called Nori since he knew she was a good nurse. Nori called Father back and he proceeded to tell her about X and offer her a job taking care of X in Philadelphia. When Nori gets to Philadelphia and goes to stay with X who insisted he didn’t need anyone. Nori wasn’t leaving so fast so X knew it would take a lot of time to get him to have something me hope. X was being a really big pain but Nori was still having to try to get him to connect. She talked to his physical therapist about what was going on. X was getting rude and Nori kept plugging along. Finally she decided to really talk to him and she knew away to give him control back. Nori approached the subject with a hopeful expectation but she wasn’t sure he would go for the idea. Embarrassed at first Nori proceeds to tell X about her BDSM experience.
She offered to help make him her Dom. They tried a few sessions but Nori didn’t know that X wanted more. She was falling for X and he was falling for her though he never said a thing. They were having breakfast when the doorbell rang and when she opened the door she see Tanner her ex standing there telling her he wants her back. X was going to tell her how much she meant to him. Nori and X spent the night together and the next day treated her coldly. Meanwhile Nori had gotten a message when she called back Tanner he told her that her parents were in an accident and she had to rush back to Texas she left without telling X. He went up to Nori’s room but when she didn’t answer he walked in see everything in the room was a mess and her things were gone he couldn’t believe she left without talking to him. Father O’Toole was in the House the day before and had a heart attacked and died so between that and Nori leaving X was a mess. Finally he decided no matter what he was going after Nori. X knew he would have to go out in public but the way he felt he would forgo being uncomfortable and fly back to Texas. When he got to Texas he looked up where her mother worked and found out where she lived. Will Nori and X get back together or will X have to go back to Philadelphia on his own? I absolutely loved this box set very emotional

The last chapter is worth all the heartache

Firstly… this ‘box set’ really didn’t need to be split into volumes. It’s length is easily manageable as a single standalone title. In some ways… splitting it into shorter volumes actually hampers the flow of the story in some ways. Instead of the story seamlessly moving from chapter to chapter, the point where the volumes split creates a bit of a stutter.

What I mean by that is that whe. One volume ends, starting the next volume recaps quite a lot of the information we’ve already read. It gets a little frustrating after a while because you’re just getting into the flow of the story and then it stops… then restarts. It’s really not necessary and I found myself almost wanting to speed read ahead.

Equally frustrating is the ‘will they, won’t they’ aspect of this story. This pair are so on-again, off-again that I almost stopped reading this book because I was getting annoyed that this couple just won’t flipping well admit how they feel about each other.

Xavier Hammond or ‘X’ is a soldier who ends up injured and scarred following an heroic act. The army was his life. It had saved him, along with Father O’Toole, from a life that was headed in the wrong direction. His injuries were severe enough that going back into service was impossible.

Left without any hope or ambition, X is lost and damaged. He doesn’t know where he’s going to go and it’s only his love and respect for Father O’Toole that stops him from giving up completely.

The other person that makes X cling on to any help is a total stranger. The nurse who’s voice and presence was with him from the moment he came into the hospital.

Nori Prinz is a nurse working at a military hospital. She’s used to seeing the kind of injuries that soldiers came in with but there was something about X that pulled her in. She stayed by his side from his initial admission, through his rehabilitation and to his discharge.

The relationship is a difficult one because X is more than difficult. He’s angry, in pain and hateful of the world.

Nori’s life is in a romantic hiatus. She’s with her partner of 4 years, Tanner, a gorgeous, rich, perfect man with everything a woman could possibly want. But their relationship was mostly sexual. Their BDSM lifestyle was keeping their sex life busy, but it’s not fulfilling them. The mutual decision to go their separate ways is completely amicable which frees her up when Father O’Toole offers her an opportunity. To become X’s live in support.

Of course… we know what’s going to happen. The spark is already there and the closer they become the harder it is to push each other away.

The trouble is… these two do so much pushing away… you start to wonder if they’ll ever get it together… or even remain friends.

There are even points where I thought… god just get back with Tanner!

However, it all works out for the best when they finally stop denying their feelings, but it takes until 90% through the book.

Don’t get me wrong… I loved the book… the story is great and it’s another page turner… as always with M.S Parker’s books… but I was worried this pair wouldn’t reach their happy ending.

The two chapters though make every heart-aching, frustrating moment worth it because we get to see X as the amazing and loving man we knew he could be all along.

So my advice… stick with this book because they do get their act together. It just takes longer than most.

This story was very slow to start and took me a bit of time to get into it, but once I did I did enjoy Nori and Xavier’s story.

Nori is a nurse and loves her job, but she’s finding it increasingly hard and emotionally draining looking after her parents who can’t get their acts together, and juggling her already stressful job. Xavier is a solider, whilst on leave he rescues a child and as a result suffers from life altering burns. Nori treats him whilst he’s at the hospital and for some reason she’s the only one that can reach him from his depression. So after he’s left the hospital, she’s hired to help him out while he recovers. This involves her moving across state to move in with him and be his private nurse and housekeeper. She’s desperate for a change so willingly moves to help him. Whilst helping him recover they fall for each other. But it’s not straight forward as they have obstacles in their way. He doesn’t believe he deserves happiness and keeps pushing her away. She can only take so much and then things take a turn when she has to return home.

I truly enjoyed thsi box set or set of books :)
The main characters X or Xavier and Nori .. and The Good ole Father O'toole ...
what a twist of fate life throws our way at times ...
MS Parker has always been Great with her writing skills and this book is
just another example of how well she does ..
The Blurb or synopsis of this story ....
tells how a strong healthy indivifual who tries to do good after the crappy life he lived as a child.. is given a chance to find Love thru the Grace of a loving man .. who I truly disliked his end But ...it is what it is :) and we do have to have dramatics to enjoy books :)
Nori herself did not have the best childhood / adult life but in the arms of X she finds her true happiness...
Well done ..

Life can change in a second

Nori was a skilled nurse that worked in the burn unit of the hospital, between the stress of helping the patients not all making it,she had to deal with the tension between her Parents. Tanner who was not only her boyfriend, best friend and Dom. He always knew how to get Nori out of her head & breath, but they both knew their time was coming to an end. Before that happened X came into the hospital severely burned and from that day on both their paths changed forever. Could they both get out of their way to start a future together or would the darkness win. Once again M. S. Parker dose not disappoint.

Another good read

Another well written book. This author has a way of fully developing the characters so you feel you really understand and feel with the, a real skill. I like the vulnerability of X throughout this storyline. It has dome touching moments, not sure about the over niceness of Tanner, not sure this would be how people react in life, but loved the book. This author appeals, I have read lots of her books and they're all enjoyable.

Wonderful

Nori and X are busy people. Nori is a nurse on the burn unit floor in a busy hospital. X is a soldier on leave. Nori has a boyfriend. X has 1 night stands. Nori has her parents to contend with. X only has a couple of friends. The two of them would have met if it hadn’t been for a warehouse fire. One man pulls them together and holds on until the end.

It’s a great story so enjoy it!

Love story

This was the second time I read this book..I read a lot so sometimes forget some of the titles. Once I started I had to read it again. Great book...loved the way the couple in this book eventually realized how much they needed each other and it didn't hurt that their romance was really HOT!!

This stole my heart

M. S. Parker writes the books I want to read. Dom X will always hold a special place in my heart. I worked in two different burn units for a total of nine years, so having a main character go through what he did really spoke to me. This is an excellent story. Thank you for all the research you did to make this so realistic.

Engrossing

Became absorbed in the plot when serviceman/hero was injured and encountered a female hero in form of nurse working in burn unit of hospital. Captivating story so true to life with just enough romance and sexual vibe to keep you entertained. Well written, believable series.

Wow...this was a fantastic read!! I found it a little difficult in the beginning because I was unaware the main character X was going to be a burn victim and it brought back a lot of personal feelings for me however, I pushed those feelings away and read on and absolutely loved the book!! Descriptions, feelings, thoughts are all very well written!

Seemed like the story was rushed.

Things didn’t seem to be ‘fully’ formed. The story moved along, but not with as much depth of character one would like. Actually skimmed a fair amount, didn’t hold my attention.

Nori and X are a delight to read. But also a tear jerker and I wanted to slap X into shaping up and stop feeling sorry for himself and see what he had in Nori. I will be reading this again and again . This is a sweet love story and I loved these characters. 5 stars for sure

Good read

This book fell a little short for me. More mild and not the dark romance I expected. Story was good and characters just as good. Always enjoy this author's writing. Regardless, would suggest as a good read.

his box set is so emotionally charged and full of action and suspense. It will keep you gripped and will keep you glued to your kindle until the very end. Xavier Hammond loves being a solider and that is what helped him overcome his horrible young life-it brought him . On a couple days off with a friend, he heads home and ends up running into a burning building to save a young child and ends up burned badly. This could mean his military career could be over--they take him to a burn unit at the hospital where he ends up meeting Nori Prinz. She is a nurse in the burn unit at the hospital where he is at.

Nori Prinz is a great nurse, sweet woman and she is in a 4 yr relationship with Tanner , her boyfriend and Dom. She realizes she has fallen out of love with him because they have become more friends, that boyfriend/girlfriend and lovers. He seems to feel it too and they end their relationship and just stay good friends. This is about the time she starts taking care of Xavier aka X. She had this instant connection with X immediately and X immediately felt it too but he tried to push Nori away because he felt less than a man. That was all wrapped up in his alpha male thought process of how less than a man he was but Nori kept at him and letting him know she was there for him. As we read on, we learn about the priest who cared for X , who saved him from a beating and actually made him feel more like a son than his own family. He is the one who put him on the path to the miltary. When X needed to go back to TX , Nori went with him as his nurse. There are layers to this story because it is about her parents needing her to care for them when they really didnt (co dependence anyone?) , the ex DOM boyfriend who wanted her back and the minefield of emotions between Nori and X and how they push and pull each other..

I loved them emotions and the action and passion in this box set. I higjhly recommend it because its not just the usual story but more complex. X and Nori are a fantastic couple and i loved the epilogue to the story.

M.S.Parker is one of my favorite authors, she can really stir up emotions and get the reader so deeply involved in her characters it is impossible to go on with your real life when her characters are in danger. This story revolves around X, Xavier is a military man who grew up in an abusive household and who got on the wrong side of the law and actually spent time in jail. A priest saved him from a beating and took him in and treated him like the son he never had. Nori is a burn unit nurse who meets X after a terrrible warehouse fire nearly claims his life. Tanner is Nori's Dom and boyfriend of 4 years, he is her strength and security when stress and life brings her down.

"I was the kind of person who hated needing other people to help me. Why would I want to spend more time wiht someone wh'd wiped my ass and seen me at some of my lowest points? Especially an attractive woman?"

"It's worth it if you can save him from himself."

"I wanted her to stay. In the hospital, she was the only person who'd been able to push back the darkness. I didn't know a lot about her, but I did know, if I'd met her under other circumstances, I would've asked her out by now."

"The one thing people could never actually control was emtion. We could control our actions, what we did with our emotions, but not how we felt."

This story was excellent, original and fresh, emotional and heartbreaking and a story this reader had a very difficult time putting down.

The book was gifted by the author for an honest review.
