Spent most of the day reading this book, not something I would normally pick up but it was a gift from the Readers Room. This has plenty of twists and moments that had me frustrated with some of the characters but there were also 'oh no' moments as well.
The characters were fascinating, their lives even more so, lots of twists to keep you engaged and a good ending, Kimberly chambers usual brilliant work
I found this to be a long drawn out story of rather silly East End gangster families who seemed incapable of putting two words together without inventing a new combination of swearwords. How many times do we have to read about the vicious thug who's heart turns to mush when his baby daughter appears?
Excellent read, the book draws you in so you feel almost on the streets with the characters. Actually read this book out of order and was so captured by it I order the whole series. Wow I wasn't disappointed
If you like Martian Cole you will love this book. Being an eastenders it was great to read about areas o know being in my 60,s great memories of my youth love the bookmark
I was sent this book by Real Readers and it is labelled "The No. 1 Sunday Times Bestseller". This is find very hard to believe as it is one of the most unpleasant novels I have had the misfortune to read.
Apparently we are reading about an East End gangster family. As part of the story, we encounter men who like to feel as if they are raping women, young boys who are beaten and spoken to in the most appalling and belittling manner, filthy language, violence and drug use.
It may well be that this is true to criminal life, in fact I am sure that it is. However, I just don't see the need to write it in this way and I don't see that there is anything to be gained by reading this horrible book.
For the first time ever I'm going to throw a book in the bin as I just don't want anyone else to read it. Whatever you do, don't put yourself through it.
